The Neighborhood Overview Mere minutes on foot from the busy commercial streets of Sherbrooke, Maisonneuve, and Ste-Catherine streets and a stone's throw from many museums, it won't take long before you're swept up in the city's summertime charms. The Golden Square Mile is the nostalgic name given to an urban neighborhood developed principally between 1850 and 1930 at the foot of Mount Royal. Home to regal mansions which have since become academic buildings and heritage points, this area of downtown Montreal is home to museums, upscale shopping, and fine dining. Downtown Montreal is the center of Canada's Francophone business community. Bustling with activity, the neighbourhood is full of restaurants, shopping, and is within walking distance of Montreal’s historic old port and Mount Royal. Downtown Montreal is also home to the city’s universities and museums, and you can catch a concert or a hockey match at the Bell Centre. Getting Around You're a couple minutes walk from Sherbrooke street, where the 24 bus line connects the Western neighborhood of NDG all the way to Sherbrooke metro station to the East. Walk a block further South and find yourself at Peel metro station (Green Line) to take off anywhere you need. Home Truths You'll be staying in an up and coming neighborhood with many vibrant sights and sounds. Due to new development in the building, the balcony cannot be accessed and you will encounter some construction that will be audible from 8AM-5PM in your Sonder.

The apartment was very close to downtown and that was excellent! It was relatively clean and comfortable. A few negatives like parking was a bit crazy. It may be best to not have a car if you are staying downtown. The sliding door to the balcony wasn't able to lock, minor security issue since we were on the 6th floor. The faucet in the bathroom was loose and spinning every time you turned the water on. Probably just needs tightening. Fans in the bathrooms would be a plus since they didn't have a window. The water was turned off for 4 hours one day for maintenance and it was slightly inconvenient. It seemed like workers were doing maintenance throughout the building while we were there so at times it was a bit noisy. Most of the time we were out sightseeing so not a big deal. Overall it was a cute apartment and worked for the four of us!! Montreal is a great city, would love to visit again sometime!! Note: after Labor Day a lot of the museums are closed on Mondays!! 14 September 2017 - 06:03:00
