Our family (incl. 2 daughters of 6 and 9) stayed in Marion's flat for 3 weeks in June and had a wonderful stay. The apartment was just as described and very clean. Some wine, tea and other basic foods/commodities had thoughtfully been left for us and anything we could possibly need for a long family stay was available. It felt as though we had just come to stay at a welcoming friend's house rather than in one of those soulless short term rental properties. The location was just perfect for us, in the heart of Ham Common within short walk to Petersham and slightly longer but delightful walk to Richmond alongside the Thames river. The bus stop was very close by and the ride to Richmond a 10mn hop. The apartment was very quiet and away from any traffic noise (pretty rare in London!). We lucked out with amazing weather for the entire stay. There is plenty to do around Richmond, trips on the river, excellent shopping and extraordinary variety of restaurants not to mention the rest of London which can be quickly accessed from Richmond by train or underground. While I was there for work, my family were able to go out every day and an amazing time. Marion was very helpful and responded to any communications swiftly and the weekly cleaning service was greatly appreciated. We came away enchanted by our stay and hoping to come back one day. Highly recommended! 07 August 2014 - 07:06:19
  2. We had a wonderful stay at Marion's beautiful Ham retreat. It is in the most lovely location, and is well equipped with everything we needed for our home-away-from-home. Would stay again. 16 September 2014 - 21:17:12

Our stay at the Garden Flat was wonderful! The owner and manager were extremely helpful and responsive to any requests, questions and concerns that we had and the kitchen is adequately equipped. When we arrived there were a couple of minor things that needed to be taken care of and they were, within 24 hours. The flat is clean, beautifully decorated and with a sense of fun too! For us, the outstanding feature was the proximity of the flat to the local shops, bus route (only 10 minutes to Kingston or Richmond), beautiful Ham Common, Richmond Park and the River Thames...and I could go on! It really is a walker's paradise with easy access into London when you want it. The biggest disappointment to us was the second bedroom. There is really no closet space in the main bedroom but lots in the second bedroom which doubles as a sun-room/office. We were hoping to have friends and relatives come to stay but found the layout a bit awkward for that. On the whole though we would absolutely recommend a stay here! 12 August 2015 - 18:26:10

overall I liked the property. Any qualms would be: doors to bathroom and bedroom create an awkward space, where you are always dodging one door or another. It would have been nice to use the fireplace which wasn't working. 27 March 2017 - 14:33:00

A well-located ground floor flat located near the twenty-four hour 65 bus to Richmond. Well-equipped for eating at home with guests. The landlord is responsive and helpful. A real pleasure to stay here. 15 July 2016 - 16:49:00

This well-appointed property offers excellent accommodation, just off Ham Common. A sophisticated decor scheme and thoughtful provision of everyday necessities mean that everything is ready to go on arrival. The secure and fragrant court-yard garden offers a welcome extra space for snatching some late rays when they occasionally come along! The location is good, especially the access to the river and Richmond Park. A bus takes you in to Richmond in about 10-15 minutes (though sometimes crowded). Having a car would be an asset, with plenty of off-street parking. Particularly welcome is the no-nonsense, unfussy approach to key collection and departure etc., and the genuinely welcoming feel. While the decor is very high specification in general, the cupboard opening arrangement in the en-suite is a little unsatisfactory, with bi-fold door off its hinge and easy to trap one's fingers when doing the laundry. The internet was also very patchy when we were there. Without these two things, irritants rather than disappointments, a five-star rating would be appropriate. Finally, the lovely flowers as a welcoming bouquet were splendid. 25 August 2015 - 09:24:55

My husband and I spent a week at this lovely English hideaway in June 2011 with our two daughters while attending the Championships at Wimbledon. We were charmed from the second we opened the gate to the lovely private courtyard. The apartment is bright, airy, very private, beautifully furnished and decorated, with all the comforts of a 5 star hotel, only better! The owner provided a wonderful welcome package which was most appreciated after a long flight. The apartment is walking distance to public transportation, restaurants and shopping and a very easy commute to to central London. Ham Common is right across the street and our girls loved being able to play soccer and watch the local cricket matches. My husband ran along the Thames daily, into Richmond and through Richmond Park. Marion, the property owner was wonderful and was so very welcoming and accommodating to our needs. I would highly recommend this property and sincerely hope to return again! 13 August 2011 - 12:33:40

We stayed for 5 nights; great apartment with great decor and furniture. The sofabed was very comfortable and all the facilities you would ever need including great collection of DVDs and books, as well as all the kitchen gadgets. Great location 5 mins walk away from a lovely duck pond and open space of Ham Common. Car parking was not perfect as the entrance to the apartment is in a cul-de-sac but never had a problem finding a parking space in the street. Marion had a nice touch with some welcome food and a bottle of champagne. Would definitely stay again. 14 August 2011 - 15:08:21

...then I'd be able to say it was like home away from home, but I can't...because it's SO much better! What an absolute treat it was to stay in Marion's apartment while myself and my boyfriend spent a week in London recently. We wanted something special and that's exactly what we got...starting off perfectly with the welcome pack that included a bottle of champagne! The furniture, fittings, decoration are all of a very high standard, it is a very beautiful place to stay....and the courtyard was a lovely place to sit out with a glass of wine! The apartment is also very close to public transport making the West End very accessible and Richmond itself has as many restaurants, shops and bars that you'd need! I absolutely, 100% recommend here as a place to stay and hope to get back again sometime soon! 18 August 2011 - 13:37:56

Very much agree with what has been said in the other reviews about this beautiful place. My family and I spend 12 nights in this delightful apartment at the beginning of August. Great location and excellent travel links for access to London and Surrey. Good quality fittings and very comfortable, luxurious furnishings. The welcome package was also very welcome after the overnight flight. Very much hoping to return next summer. 04 September 2011 - 18:01:09

We stayed in Marion's apartment for 2 weeks. Marion was quick to respond to any of our requests, one of which was a very early check in. The flat is very well furnished and comfortable. There are very high ceilings giving it a grand, open feel. Both bedrooms have plenty of space as well as cupboard space for clothes. The kitchen is well equipped. Marion provided fresh flowers, tea, coffee and a bottle of bubble and some milk which was very much appreciated. The courtyard to the flat is really cute and great for the warmer days. Marion's flat is in a superb location, bus at end of street (10 mins into Richmond), numerous pubs within walking distance, Ham House and River 10 mins walk and the flat is directly opposite a common with a duck pond. We were family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) and we wouldn't hesitate to stay in Marion's flat if the opportunity arose again. Thanks Marion for a very nice 2 weeks in your comfortable and stylish flat. 17 September 2017 - 06:46:00

Richmond is a heavenly place on earth - and Marion's flat is perfectly situated within it. Surrounded by the most beautiful parks in England and passageways entwining throughout the lush green landscape, lending itself to the feeling that this is an enchanted cottage. Every amenity is granted, impeccably designed and arranged, pristinely kempt and wonderfully cozy, even more so - romantic. We loved our stay at Marion's flat so much we extended as long as we could and look forward to a time when we will return. Marion is a Super Host! 02 December 2016 - 14:55:30

Stayed in this beautiful apartment over Xmas 2017 and enjoyed it tremendously - lovely grand high ceiling rooms, well stocked kitchen and Marion had put out Xmas decorations and a bottle of bubbly to welcome us - we brought a small (well behaved) dog along so we had some lovely walks along the common and Richmond Park - recommend this apartment highly 29 December 2017 - 11:11:00
