Where to start...The Gatehouse is an absolute gem of a holiday getaway, the pictures are good but don't do it justice! The Gatehouse is very clean, exceptionally cosy and well equipped! We had a wonderful time for a girly weekend break and cannot wait to go back! Lesley, who owns and runs the property was brilliant and amazing, she made us feel absolutely welcome and made us smile all weekend! I cannot say enough good things, it's really a very special place! 02 October 2015 - 09:54:56

What a lovely place - quirky layout and beautifully fitted with everything we needed. An ideal 'home' which is really convenient for Windsor and surrounding areas. We were made to feel really welcome by Lesley and soon made friends with the chickens. Would certainly go back there and can't recommend it highly enough. 30 October 2015 - 17:45:25
  3. Just back from a short break at The Gatehouse. A stunning, quirky property perfect for us. We were made to feel very welcome and were able to walk the puppy in the paddocks. Easy access to almost anywhere. What else could you ask for Many thanks Richard, Jackie, Ed and Bertie the puppy 24 February 2016 - 09:59:11

Loved this property! It is cosy, clean, warm and practical with secure parking and lots of space. Access to the owners field for dog walking was an added bonus although Windsor Park is also very close. The location is incredibly convenient for London and the M25 etc yet very tranquil. The house appears to have been very recently decorated and kitted out and had everything I needed. The decor is stylish and contemporary with some very elegant touches I had a lovely stay and even though it was brief felt that I had made a new friend in the owner. I would highly recommend this property and certainly hope to stay again when I return to the area. 02 May 2016 - 09:22:35

Just returned from a lovely weekend staying in this cosy, quirky cottage; stunning location, quiet but only minutes from the tourist locations. Lesley the owner was very welcoming and the new laid eggs a treat! Thanks once again. 13 June 2016 - 20:13:10

We stayed here for 3 nights with our dog Eddie while attending Dogfest in the nearby Windsor Great Park & weren't disappointed. The property is well maintained with secure parking in a lovely quiet area yet near enough to interesting places to visit as well as London. The owner is friendly & helpful & everything you need is supplied, even things that do not usually come included in a holiday rental such as kitchen roll, cooking oil, tea, coffee, sugar & even a fresh pint of milk in the fridge. So glad they accept dogs as it was perfect for us & the owners even let you walk the dog in their grounds so early morning/late night walkies are no hassle. We would highly recommend this property for anyone wanting to stay in the area. 28 June 2016 - 07:01:06

The property was tidy, well organised and sparklingly clean. Lesley couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating to these guests - who needed to change their schedule at the last minute! The property was well equipped with all mod cons. The Wifi was the best we have seen at any BnB yet. Very very fast and usable from every room! Our stay was at the end of a long family holiday thru Europe and the UK and this place was perfect for us to unwind and relax before our long trip back to Australia. Thanks again, Lesley. Hopefully we will return in a few years! 14 October 2016 - 11:29:02

We had a fantastic time at The Gatehouse - despite all of us falling ill ! It was comfortable and warm and was a real home from home ! We loved the grounds and the total ambience and Lesley' s little touches of kindness- a little Christmas tree and well stocked coffee tea and sugar and milk in the fridge . We loved the area and the walks for our dog . Above all we loved Lesley's humour - she had us all in stitches most of the time - we could not have asked for a more genuine host . We felt very relaxed on our first Christmas ever away from home ! Thankyou a million times Lesley we hope to be back soon - perhaps even next Christmas !? Lots of love Lesley Mick Kathryn Dave and Rick xxxx 02 January 2017 - 09:59:06

My husband, two dogs, and I had a wonderful stay over Valentine's Day in Lesley's unique and characterful property. I was attending a photo workshop at Kew Gardens, which was a quick drive away. (Just not at rush hour) Let me begin by saying the photos do not do the property justice (especially the sitting room photo, which only shows two chairs). Don't be fooled, the gatehouse is very spacious, gorgeously decorated, and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is very well appointed with all you need, and the beds and lounge furniture are very comfy. If you're a dog owner, there are fields and a secure courtyard to walk your dogs around. There is a little office and the wifi is amazingly fast. My husband worked during the days, and had no problems whatsoever. Lastly the very best thing is Lesley herself. She is warm, welcoming and refreshingly real. I feel I have met a kindred spirit! We enjoyed our stay so much we booked another, longer stay in a few month's time, when I come to London for another workshop. Book this place, you won't regret it! 17 February 2017 - 14:17:00

10 August 2017 - 12:33:00

Everything mentioned in the other reviews is spot on, what can I add? Let me try to summarize our stay. It is not (y)our home, but from the moment we drove through the gates of the Gatehouse, it sure felt like home! We were welcomed by Lesley, wonderful lady, we felt directly at ease. We quickly found out we had quite a few significant things in common which immediately gave a bond. As tourists we were treated to the wonderful Gatehouse with everything you need, clean, so well looked after and spacious. Wifi is fast, beds are comfy, kitchen is well equipped, wonderful. We could walk the dog, he was so welcome (!), in the grounds, wonderful. Even the private, protected, parking space was wonderful near the chickens. All this is sitting in a delightful English landscape, just one hour drive from Oxford, London, Surrey hills and Stonehenge. Our 8 day stay was over in a blink of an eye; kids loved every minute of it, wonderful. Next year we will go to the South of England; I wish I could, like a wizard, take the Gatehouse with me. Thank you so much, Lesley! 18 August 2017 - 11:33:00

We had the pleasure to stay in this wonderful house with our teenage son for the last week of our summer holidays. Everything in the house was very clean, nothing missing. We especially liked the farm details - chickens, ducks and a small herd of cattle, blackberries (only if you arrive at the right time in August). A 15 minute walk from the house will lead you to Windsor Great Park with its herd of free range deer and a magnificent view of Windsor Castle. Lesley is a very supportive person which will help you with anything, starting with fresh eggs from the chickens. This has been one of the best holiday homes we had in the last years. 24 September 2017 - 14:31:00

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay in the Gate House. The slightly unusual accommodation was presented to the highest standard of cleanliness and comfort. Lesley provided a very warm welcome and was attentive throughout our stay. The location is excellent being tucked away on a quiet lane with amenities close by for all your requirements. If we were ever in the area in the future we would have no hesitation in booking this accommodation again. 04 February 2015 - 20:34:24

An ideal property, well located for access to M25. The accommodation was clean, comfortable & quiet. The owners gave us a warm welcome & were keen to make sure we settled & happy to sort out any issues that might arise. We stayed for 3 nights & enjoyed our stay so much so that we wouldn't hesitate to return. 02 March 2015 - 14:19:47

Booked this accommodation at the last minute for 4 nights with the purpose of visiting friends nearby. Due to our plans we arranged to check in early where we, and our 2 dogs, were made most welcome and the owners couldn't have been more helpful. The property which was quirky and unusual, was well presented, modern and clean. It was well equipped and it was nice to have essentials like washing up liquid, salt, soaps, toilet rolls etc etc... Often things that are missing in self catering. Fresh eggs are available for purchase. It is located on a quiet country lane within walking distance to Great Windsor Park and a number of dog friendly pubs. Prices are in line with accommodation in the area. We would stay again and would definitely recommend. 23 March 2015 - 13:23:56
  18. We stayed at the gatehouse in the autumn. Lesley, the owner, is delightful. Her place is beautiful and perfect in every way. My husband and I felt our experience at Lesley's was one of our three favorite things about our trip to England. We will definitely stay here again when we return to England. 18 January 2016 - 16:14:15

Very enjoyable 3night stay in this well managed , clean , modern , comfortable gatehouse. Excellent location and entertaining owners and "pet" chickens. Stairs could be a problem for bad knee travelers but is not a issue for active elderly. Good Italian Tratoria nearby and very quiet location and private safe parking. All in all an excellent choice in all respects. Thanks , Lesley for a great stay. 28 June 2016 - 00:21:29

Excellent position to access many of the interesting sites in the area then lovely to come back to a quiet secluded base. Very comfortable place to stay and a welcoming helpful owner. There are pubs within walking distance but good cooking facilities if you wish to stay in. Quirky layout in this converted archway house but it works well (as long as mobility no issue). We hope to use this as a base again to explore more of the area - and ability to bring the dog too is an added bonus. 22 October 2017 - 19:01:00
