We really enjoyed our stay at the property. It was a little tight with four adults next time I would book just for me and my husband but overall a great stay. Location was within walking distance to all major areas or the tram stop was right outside! 03 October 2017 - 17:12:00

We loved staying at the Prinsenboat in the southern canal district away from the throngs of tourists and right on tram 4 line. It was very spacious for two of us and we loved the charm of being right on the Prinsengracht. The kitchen is fully stocked with the equipment you need to cook at home but the local area is full of wonderful restaurants and shops and the Albert Cuyp street market with fabulous vegetables, meat, fish, cheese and bakers is a few blocks walk. Very highly recommended. 13 October 2017 - 20:53:00

The only way to experience the real Amsterdam!! Our young boys (9 and 4) really enjoyed it. We felt like locals sitting there watching the tour boats go by, taking pictures, feeding the ducks who came to our window every morning and late afternoon. Close to Rembrandtplein, Dam Square, walking distance to the major museums, cafes on every corner very friendly and make a great hot chocolate. Walking distance to bakery, laundromat. 11 October 2010 - 02:45:43

Peter was very helpful in arrival to the location and things to do around town. Very helpful. There are many different restaurants in the local area to enjoy. It was very nice to have a bottle of wine waiting for us. Although the pictures adequately showed the inside of the property, there was no picture of the exterior, which would have been helpful in figuring out which house was ours. The shower, kitchen, tv and internet worked very well. The master bed is king sized or bigger, but not very soft. The pull out was a single and could not accommodate more than one person. The local surroundings were not too loud so we had no problems sleeping at night, even though we visited on the weekend. All in all, it was a great experience for my family to live on the canal for this weekend. Thank you 19 October 2010 - 10:34:23
22 November 2010 - 14:53:57
  7. My friend and I recently stayed for a week on the Prinsenboat. It was a great choice for our stay and we felt we had the privacy that a hotel does not offer. It was very comfortable. The best thing is the location, which is a short walk to museums and a good food Marqt. There are great restaurants nearby as well as Rembrantplein, which was festive with the Winter Wonderland, a variety of vendors, and ice skating. It was lovely to be right on the canal surrounded by 17th century architectural beauty. 12 December 2010 - 21:42:03

Our recent stay aboard Prinsenboat could not have been better. My husband and I along with our 3 little boys aged 4, 3 and 17 months had a fabulous time. The accommodation was just big enough for us, extremely private with no close neighbours to consider with the early morning rising of our boys. The boat is filled with all the essentials for a great stay - cooking equipment, sound system & linen. We piled the boys all into the gorgeous big bed and slept ourselves on the sofa which was more than adequate. The only thing we missed was a freezer which simply met we ate dessert (ice cream etc) during the day - no harm there. We were met each morning and evening with ducks and 2 rather pushy swans to be fed, a real treat for the boys and waved to the odd canal cruise boat passing by. The great position of the boat meant we could hire bikes from rental shops close by and cycle quite easily around the whole city taking in museums, gorgeous Vondelpark and the many canals. There are great restaurants and designer shops moments away from Prinsenboat's door and supermarkets are within an easy walk or cycle. We would absolutely return should we be making another stop in Amsterdam and have been blabbering to all our friends that they should include a stopover in Amsterdam and aboard Prinsenboat on their next European trip. Thanks. 17 January 2011 - 01:19:51

We had a super time staying on the Prinsenboat having used it as a base for our first visit to this lovely city. The boat has everything you could need and is ideal for a couple. It is clean and warm and situated in a quiet spot yet only a short walk from everywhere you would would want to visit in the city. We enjoyed feeding the ducks from the window and watching the water traffic go by. The only small thing was that several bulbs went on the lamp in the living area and we would have appreciated spares (we managed to find one). All in all a lovely stay though, to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary - thank you Peter for helping to give us some special memories. 18 April 2011 - 12:04:51

Brilliant location, both the boat and surrounding area. The perfect place to explore Amsterdam and experience the canal boat life. The boat accommodated 4 people (2 adults, 1 x 16yr old and 1 x 13yr old) adequately. We ate in on some nights and found everything we needed. The bed in bedroom was huge and the sofa bed in lounge was comfortable enough for 2 adults. We met Peter half way through our stay and after doing so felt nothing would be too much trouble. The accommodation was as described and expected but in our opinion to be rated excellent it would need some updating as some of the decor was a little tired. This however will not put us off visiting again. It would make a great romantic getaway for 2 people. We totally recommend the Prisenboat for your stay in Amsterdam. 23 April 2011 - 19:49:53

We have never written a review, but, our experience was so positive, we felt we must. If you are considering a trip to Amsterdam and would like to hang your hat in accommodations other than a predictable hotel, do stay on Prinsenboat. Its was a divine experience. The houseboat was very clean, well equipped, perfectly located, and we simply loved it! Our stay fell over the "Queens Day" celebration, which was big fun. The houseboat has an ideal, safe location, we walked everywhere. Prinsenboat was everything we had hoped and the owner Paul is extremely attentive and professional. 09 May 2011 - 15:01:02

My wife and I had the best time staying on Prinsenboat. We had planned to stay a couple nights but emailed Peter to see if we could say another. He was great and went above and beyond in accommodating us, even giving us a gift for our oldest child. The boat has all of your modern conveniences but has a rustic folky Moroccan theme. The large windows open up beautifully to accommodate duck feedings and peaceful breezes. After much walking about Amsterdam it is easy to say that this is the best neighborhood for quaint living. Perfect restaurants, pastry shops (Kuyt) cheese shop right on Utrect. I cant wait to come back. I also rent a home on VRBO and only wish my guests can have this kind of experience. 20 June 2011 - 02:31:28

My girlfriend and I recently enjoyed a delightful four night stay on Prinsenboat. The houseboat is very comfortable and perfectly located in a pretty neighbourhood with fantastic restaurants and cafes. The owner, Peter, was very generous with his time and very easy to deal with. I thoroughly recommend staying here. 02 July 2011 - 13:24:17

This summer my husband and I wanted to do something different and that is why we wanted to stay in a houseboat, so typical from Amsterdam. The houseboat has an excellent situation in one of the most famous canals of the city, even the Major of Amsterdam lives in Prinsengracht. It is comfortable with all the facilities and can accommodate four people without any problem. The sofa-bed is just for an only person. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. My children loved feeding the ducks from the window and lookint at the boat passing by, it is really something different. If you are going to stay for a long time there is a supermarket and a laundry at a stone s throw. Beware that foreigners cant pay with any kind of credit cards in supermarkets, always cash. The best way to sightsee Amsterdam is to rent a bike, as trams are expensive. If you want to visit some other cities then to rent a car is the best option. "Sixt car rental" has got good prices and there is an office in Central Station and Schipol airport respectively (in Amsterdam). If you go to Amsterdam you can miss the following places: Vang Gogh and Riks museum, Anne Frank House, the Heinneken place, the Jordan neighborhood, the flower market, Volendam park, the ice bar, and of course, if traveling with children "Efteling Park" (the largest and oldest theme park in Holland) in Kaatsheuvel and not very far from Amsterdam by car. It is really worthwhile visiting Amsterdam but dont forget your umbrella and raincoat. Thanks 03 September 2011 - 19:49:16

It was a pretty cool experience to stay on the house boat. Swans came up to the windows in the morning and the view across the canal was fantastic. The houseboat is in a perfect location for walking or taking transit. Lots of local restaurants - one right across the street and great shopping. The houseboat could use a little maintenance/upkeep but other than that our stay was great! 27 October 2017 - 21:36:00

Very close to tram line, and lots of amenities in the area, perfect location in the city, the owner was very welcoming... place is clean and tidy, and very quirky, particularly enjoyed watching the boats go past whilst enjoying a decent cup of tea in the living room area 16 December 2017 - 14:42:00

Do not be deceived by pictures! Bed is hard foam, furniture is worn & falling apart , door on cabinet fell off & couch is torn. Only thing remodeled is bathroom, shower is nice. I've rented many boats in Amsterdam and this is not a good value. Peter was nice and brought a new piece of foam for bed but it was a rock! Peter provides 'Car Service' , but he picks you up in his worn out car, that's NOT car service! Take a taxi! 30 September 2013 - 12:36:09
