Volveremos. 27 May 2016 - 15:55:07

We got to Paris on a cold, sunny day, and were thrilled to find a cosy, toasty-warm apartment! The apartment has three bedrooms, a bathroom with stand-up shower, and one with a full-sized tub (with shower). We were a party of 4 women, and never ran out of hot water. The kitchen is very small, but had everything we needed: coffee maker, fridge, oven, stove and microwave, plus all the dishware and glasses we could possibly use. The location was great: metro stations nearby (Pont Marie to the north, St. Michel to the south, both great jumping-off points), and a boulangerie and cremerie right across the street, plus a butcher shop a few doors down. There are several restaurants on the street, one of which -- l'Auberge du Rheine Blanche -- we went to twice. Our landlord, Mr. Faguer, was extremely helpful; we got detailed instructions on using the tv, phone and stereo, plus a list of phone numbers (including a couple of taxi services). He also sent us to a great area for grocery shopping. When we arrived, the bed in the main bedroom had been made up as a queen bed, but we needed it to be twins, and Mr. Faguer had that changed right away. The beds were all very comfortable. The tallest person in our party, who's about 5-8, had the bedroom that's off the main bedroom, and the bed was plenty long enough for her. The apartment is on a quiet street; you'll hear church bells occasionally, but for us, that just added to the charm. It's my dream to someday come back and spend a month -- the location is just so perfect, and the apartment so homey and welcoming. The exposed beams in the ceiling were lovely, as were the terra cotta floors. 01 January 2014 - 03:17:51

This property has a very nice location, making it well-situated for day trips. It is conveniently located to a number of shops which we went to daily for groceries. The front entrance at night is not well-lit and during our visit, the elevator was not working. The furnishings in the apartment are older and some could be in better condition and the tile floor needs some repair. We found the queen mattress to be uncomfortable. Overall, the location and price make it a very good value. 24 August 2016 - 22:08:50

This 2-bedroom, 2-bath apartment was perfectly centrally-located for our group of 4 for a week in Paris. It had everything we needed, including a dishwasher and in-suite laundry. So close to everything we wanted to see, restaurants, shopping and convenient to the Metro, too. Apartment was exactly as described and wonderfully clean and maintained. The owner went out of his way to help us navigate the booking (first time homeaway user), met us personally to show us the place and even helped book us a cab to the airport upon leaving. And the price was so reasonable for such a large apartment. Highly recommended! 05 November 2016 - 22:27:53
  7. Perfect location for exploring Paris, many restaurants right on the doorstep. The apartment was very clean and well maintained, the building is full of character. All the arrangements for check in and check out went smoothly. The owner was very helpful. We enjoyed our visit and would recommend this property. The bedroom off of the master bedroom is suitable for a child as the bed is quite short. 04 September 2012 - 05:45:49

This apartment was perfect for our family of four! Easy walk to lots of Paris highlights! Was nice to have 2 bathrooms (there were three of us ladies), and the living room was a nice size to spread out after an amazing day exploring the city! Alexandra was our contact person during our stay....she was very friendly and accomodating. Would highly recommend Bernard's apartment in this charming neighborhood! 02 September 2017 - 12:46:00

Our family adored our stay in this charming apartment in the middle of Paris. Alexandra met us to let us in and answered all of our questions is perfect English. The apartment is in an ancient building in the center of Ile Saint Louis in the middle of the Seine. It could not be more conveniently located to everything we wanted to see. Notre Dame is just steps away and the metro station is just five minutes walk. The metro is wonderful for taking you anywhere you need to go - quickly and safely - and it was so easy to navigate! I would highly recommend staying on the Ile Saint Louis even for light sleepers, because even though it's in the city, it was VERY quiet at night which surprised us. There were boulangeries and restraunts and little grocery stores, cheese mongers, butchers, ice cream stores galore, vegetable sellers, wine stores, etc. right on the island. We found Parisians to be friendly and helpful - especially if you study the culture a little and try a few French words. The apartment is exactly as it looks in the pictures, except perhaps the kitchen - it's even smaller than it looks - but we found all French kitchens to be tiny. The two bathrooms and clothes dryer were extremely convenient and a rare find in France. There's no air conditioning, but there's no air conditioning anywhere in Paris except the museums - and that's only to protect the art, not for the comfort of the patrons. We had plenty of room for our family of five and enjoyed playing games and drinking wine in the evenings. This apartment is a gem! We will definitely stay here next time we come to Paris. 11 August 2017 - 22:09:00

We absolutely loved the place. Great location and an easy walk to the Metro. Groceries, wine, cheese, restaurants and Berthillon ice cream all very close by. We found it to be bigger than it appears in the pictures and we certainly hadn't expected anything so spacious in a 400 year old building in the centre of Paris. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 kids (aged 4, 10, 12) and we had lots of room for us and all our stuff. There are a number of local guide books and maps on the shelf that we made very good use of. The owner was great as was his representative. They both responded to all our communications very promptly. We would absolutely stay there again and highly recommend it. 24 July 2017 - 16:28:00

We really enjoyed the location of this apartment, which is easy walking distance to many sights - the Seine, Notre Dame, the Marais District, and 3 metro stops. Half a block to Berthillon Ice Cream, which we enjoyed every day! There are a fromagerie, boucherie, and boulangerie/patisserie on the street, as well as several cafes and nicer restaurants. There are also several grocery stores for staples nearby. The area gets quiet at night, after the shops close, which is good for us as a family. The apartment is well appointed, with everything we needed for a week's stay and cooking a few simple meals for ourselves. There are enough beds and bedrooms for everyone to have their own space, including a sofa bed, and 2 bathrooms. As with most Paris apartments, there are stairs, but also a small lift to help with heavy luggage (or tired feet after a long day of sightseeing). Bernard, the owner, and Alexandra the housekeeper, were very accommodating and helpful. We will stay here again on another trip to Paris! 18 March 2017 - 12:40:00

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As advertised, the apartment fit the six of us (four adults and two children) very nicely. It is well appointed and very comfortable. Most importantly, the location is fantastic. Would absolutely stay again. 09 July 2014 - 15:22:51

My sisters & I stayed at Bernards apartment from 9/11/15 - 9/19/15, & we were very happy with it. I can honestly say that the 3 of us do not have 1 complaint about the apartment. To the contrary, the 1 thing we all agree upon on the whole of our Paris vacation is our stay at Bernards apartment on the Ile Saint-Louis. It is the way to go if you want an affordable, comfortable, accommodating Paris apartment, a little distance from the maddening crowd, with more upscale, local, residential businesses like grocery stores, pharmacies, shops, & good, reasonably-priced restaurants all within convenient walking distance. Because we were arriving in the morning, Bernard made arrangements for us to have immediate access to the apartment. Each of us had a separate bedroom, with 1 of us having our own fully-equipped bathroom. The 2 of us who shared a large, modern, fully-accommodating bathroom had plenty of room. Even the pull-out couch was very comfortable - we tried it out! The washer/dryer worked very well. The kitchen was fully stocked. The wi-fi worked well. The apartment was clean & spacious. The apartment building was quiet. The windows opened beautifully on hotter days to invite in a cool breeze, & the heaters cranked" on cooler days to warm you to a cozy, comfortable, homey feel. Merci beaucoup, Bernard! We feel fortunate to have found your apartment among the hundreds on-line from which to choose! Best always! 10 October 2015 - 19:11:58

My husband and I brought our three sons (9, 11 and 14) to Paris for the first time in March 2016. This apartment was absolutely perfect for us. We loved staying on this quaint, quiet island. Its central location could not have been more convenient. There are many Metro stations within an easy walk, but it is also so easy to walk nearly everywhere from this apartment. The Louvre is only a mile away! There is a bread/pastry shop across the street, a small grocery about two blocks away. You can walk to Notre Dame in 5 minutes. The larger streets of Saint-Germaine and Rue de Rivoli are a short walk away and you can find absolutely anything and everything you might need. This 1600's apartment building is charming. It has lovely octagonal terra-cotta tiles on the floors and large, rough-hewn exposed beams on the ceilings. It has two bathrooms (important for a family of 5!) and a washer/dryer combo machine that we used almost daily. The furnishings were clean and practical but also very comfortable. We slept very well. Our two younger boys shared a small bedroom that has a trundle bed and the bathroom with a shower. When both beds are out, there isn't a lot of space between the beds, but two friendly adults could easily share this room. Our older son claimed the small bedroom beyond the master bedroom. It has a single bed, side table and an armoire. It was more than enough room for a teenager, or even an adult. The living space is spacious and inviting. There was plenty of room for us. It actually seemed a bit larger in real life than in the pictures. The kitchen is very small, but has all the equipment you could possibly need for simple meals before or after a long day of sightseeing. Its not a criticism, but it is something to note that if you are traveling with a bunch of people who like to take long-ish showers, you will run out of hot water. The tank is much smaller than US ones. We solved that problem by asking our boys to take evening showers and we were good to go! When we arrived, we were greeted by the very helpful and kind hostess who spoke lovely English. We didnt have any problems, but are confident that if we had, Alexandra would have had them straightened out in no time. I recommend this apartment without hesitation and promise that it will make your trip to Paris perfect! 24 April 2016 - 17:36:58

This was a perfect apartment for our 5 days in Paris. For our group of 3 adults and two teenagers, we had plenty of space and it was really nice to have 2 full baths. The apartment was clean, quiet and comfortable and the location was truly unbeatable! We could walk to Notre Dame in just a few minutes and many other major sights were easily walkable. If we were tired at the end of the day we would just hop on the underground and get off at one of the stops that was a short walk from the apartment. Rue St-Louis-en-l'ile is a quaint, very Parisian street with great cafes, restaurants, shops, creperies, etc. Bernard helped to make all the planning super easy and was very responsive to all of our communication, and Alexandra who checked us in and out of the apt was very kind and helpful. We had a great experience at Bernard's place and would love to stay there again on our next trip back to Paris! 30 June 2016 - 17:24:50

January 2018. We were a family of 4 adults, 2 small children and an infant. Apartment with rustic wood beams and clean, comfortable furnishings. Master bedroom is very nicely furnished. Beds are comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped for cooking our evening meals. Only utensil we lacked was a spatula to turn pancakes one morning. Good restaurants and bakeries close by and I especially recommend La Rotisserie across the mid island bridge on the Left Bank. Two nice playgrounds for young children very nearby. Hallway and stairs to the elevator were covered with a plastic/heavy paper which didnt give a good first impression for my wife, but we figured it was to protect the wood stairs from the effects of rainy Paris in the winter. Washer/dryer was a real plus with having the kids with us and traveling light. The location was perfect for exploring Paris. Getting to the apartment from airport is easy. If you take the train RER line B from CDG airport (10.3 Euro p/p) get off at St Michael/ Notre-Dame and take exit 6 for elevator to street level with luggage. Turn right out of the elevator, right again at the street and a 10-15 min walk to the apartment. Owner was easy to deal with and accommodating to our needsallowed us to give the security deposit in dollars which was returned at the end of our visit and saved the expense of currency exchange and being left with a lot of Euros at the end. Alexandra, was a very helpful super host dispelling my wifes initial concerns from the hallway appearance with her smile and cheerful disposition. I highly recommend this apartment without any hesitation. 16 January 2018 - 02:06:00
