About listing

Neal Street is perfectly located for all visitors to London and although we have hosted leading international artists and musicians we treat all guests as special regardless of where they come from! This apartment was hand picked by Alastair Sawday and appeared in his 'Special Escapes' . The living room leads up to a unique terrace where you can sit and enjoy a meal and glass of wine with lovely views over London rooftops. Staying here is as perfect for a great city break as it is for a business trip. We have created a home from home romantic bijoux apartment which is a sanctuary from the hustle and bussel and excitement of the City outside. Choose between self catering in our compact fully fitted kitchen or dining in one of the many top restaurants on the doorstep. You could not have a better location as you will literally fall out the door into where it is all happening and fall back into and oasis of calm to recuperate before your next adventure. We take great pride in the fact that designed by the artist owner we have created a stylish, creative environment to nurture you during your stay. Apart from being the cultural centre of London, Covent Garden has a wide array of lovely shops as well as excellent food shops. The famous Neal's Yard is just around the corner and of course Neal's Yard dairy for wonderful cheese as well as the famous Monmouth Street coffee shop. Guests return regularly sending friends and family. We hope you will also be inspired to visit our apartments in the South of France. See www.villefranchevacation.com Please read our five star reviews! Hope to see you very soon! Link to Map Location: Please note that this apartment is in a residential building and is not suitable for guests who want to be in London to party. The roof terrace is fine for two or three people to sit and have a drink or a meal but not more than that. I am sorry but we can only rent to guests who have an understanding of this and are happy to be considerate of our neighbors. Thank you kindly, Mattie My cancellation policy is found on my website www.villefranchevacation.com and this may be different than the HomeAway cancellation policy. Cancellation fees would normally be covered by insurance if caused by illness or other insurable event.

We had such a nice time in the apartment, the owners were very professional and helpful. The location was fantastic, right in the middle of the "Seven Dials" action. 23 March 2009 - 16:02:04

Wonderful location, right in the middle of Covent Garden. Five minute walk (at the most) to many theaters for plays/ musicals. One minute walk from Covent Garden tube station (direct connect from Heathrow). Marks and Spencers 1 minute walk a way (good food court), as well as many restaurants, pubs. Clean, safe location. Owners/ property managers very helpful. Would definitely return. 19 April 2009 - 15:23:34

I stayed here for about two months last winter and had an absolutely amazing time! Being right in Covent Garden enables you to walk absolutely everywhere and all the great theaters, restaurants, galleries, etc are in this area. It was of course especially beautiful right around Christmas, but it is definitely the place it be at any given time! The place is in great condition and has a quite feminine vibe to it. It is equipped with everything you will need. I didn't miss anything for the entire time I was there and whenever I needed anything the owners were extremely helpful. I felt very welcome and well taken care off. The roof terrace is of course a wonderful extra that I even managed to make use of in January and February so it would definitely be an amazing thing to have in the summer. I would definitely recommend this property! 25 May 2009 - 18:47:06

This central London apartment is a treat. Its chic and sassy interior is full of style and flair. Its all about attention to detail in the midst of theatres, shops and restaurants. The roof terrace makes for wonderful lounging. Beautifully maintained. We have stayed here twice within a year and find Mattie and Mark to be incredible hosts that are always available to assist. Highly recomended. [South Africa] 15 May 2009 - 10:41:29

I stayed here for almost 3 weeks and enjoyed every minute of it. Smack bang in the middle of all the action but close the door, walk up the (many) stairs to the flat and it couldn't be more different - quiet, calm and comfortable. The terrace is fantastic and very private. The design is top notch and you just won't want to get out of the bed. The owners were always on hand for advice and made me very welcome. Everything I could have needed was there. A great place to stay and I'll definitely be back. 02 July 2009 - 23:36:42

My husband and two children, my daughter, age 13 and my son, age 10, traveled to London and stayed for 5 nights in this most unique and incredible flat. The location was perfect, located about 2 blocks from the Covent Garden tube station, it was right in the middle of everything. Mattie and Francesca were there to greet us and couldn't be nicer or more accomodating. The unit was clean and was very efficient. It was perfect for the 4 of us. The best part about it was the rooftop terrace. I would absolutley recommend this unit to anyone wanting a great location when they are traveling to London. If I ever return I would love to stay there again!! Thanks Mattie and Francesca for helping make our vacation so unforgettable!! 17 August 2009 - 18:58:25

Simply stated - "The best decision we made in planning our visit to London!!!" The flat itself is a hidden gem. All the amenities you could ask for. Very tastefully decorated. The living room is very comfortable. Fully equipped kitchen. The washer and drier were a wonderful bonus. The bedroom is quiet with ample storage space. WiFi access throughout. For those worried about the climb up the stairs, remember, you can't have a roof terrace unless you're on the top floor and the roof terrace was such a wonderful place to enjoy a quite glass of wine, etc before going out to dinner or a play. The location is also great. Walking distance to shopping, eating, pubs, gelato, theatre, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden Market, the Thames, Parliment, Buckingham Palace, Green Park, the Underground etc, etc, etc Mattie and Mark are extremely accomodating and helpful. We could go on and on but suffice it to say - we would not hesitate to stay in here any time we visit London. Why stay in a hotel, when you can stay in a home like this?????? 24 August 2009 - 23:51:46

We simply loved our stay here. After the warm greeting from Mark, the flat was better than we had hoped and provided an excellent home away from home. The rooftop terrace was lovely during the warm weather, and the fittings, comfortable bed, and little touches (flowers, art, wine, utensils, etc.) gave us a pleasant place to which we returned after sightseeing, shopping, and family visits. It's truly the first time we've stayed in a place where we actually enjoyed just staying in the place. Overall, hospitality and attention to detail were outstanding, and planning and communication was straightforward and easy. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning. Mattie and Mark, thank you very much! 25 November 2009 - 00:50:36

First of all, the location of the flat is perfect. It is right in the middle of Covent Garden, but yet on a street with practically zero vehicle traffic. You can walk to all the theatres, the Covent Garden tube, and some of the best London restaurants are nearby. The bedroom at the back of the flat is dead quiet. The bed is very comfortable. The furnishings are quite pretty and top quality--nothing Ikea here! The kitchen has a gas range, which is great to have The flat is small, but, the owner has done a really great job of making the best use of the space. It has all the appliances you could possibly need, and they are all in almost brand new and perfect working condition. 17 February 2010 - 19:50:12

What joy. I stayed with my daughter in this delightful centrally located London flat. Situated in Covent Garden and surrounded by fabulous restaurants and theatre it is difficult to know what could have been better. 08 July 2010 - 16:16:06

I would recommend this apartment to anyone. My husband, 13 year-old son and I loved it! Covent Gardens was the perfect spot for us to get around London. The Underground station was so convenient and we saw 2 shows while we were here. Being so close to the theater was a plus. Loved our evenings on the rooftop terrace! Thank you Mattie for a fantastic London experience! 26 August 2010 - 19:15:50

I'm sure other reviewers have waxed poetic about how terrific this place is - from the full kitchen, the amazingly comfortable bed and generally how beautifully decorated the flat is, to how well situated it is to everything you want to see and do in London plus the bonus of a rooftop terrace. So I won't go into further detail - all top marks. There was some minor confusion about both check-in and -out times, but all was resolved without strife. As we were later arriving than expected, we drove directly to the flat and for our 'trouble' we were greeted with flowers and bottle of wine - very nice! We also managed to lock our passports in the safe (duh!), and Mattie had to make a trip into town to get them out - thank you!!! The only aspect which does not get top marks is the shower - with my long hair, the water pressure wasn't enough to properly shampoo, so I needed to wash it in the bath (which also takes a while to fill). I also found it difficult to get a comfortable temperature in the shower - either seemed too hot or too cold, it didn't seem to have much middle ground. Having said all that, my husband had no complaints about the shower. And I certainly wouldn't let that prevent me from staying there again. Looking forward to the next time, and perhaps a stay at Mattie's place in France. 18 October 2010 - 17:21:53

A great location in the heart of Covent Garden. The apartment is suitable for two people and has a reasonably spacious living room, perfectly adequate kitchen with all the necessary equipment. The bedroom and bathroom are small and the shower's water pressure is low. Otherwise a super place 11 November 2010 - 02:10:20

From start to end, staying here was a great experience. The apartment was beautifully designed, airy, spacious and comfortable. It was clean, well maintained with an incredible and cosy roof terrace. An amazing experience to stay and wake up right in the heart of London. The customer service was impeccable - as I have experienced with visiting the other property by the same owner. I would highly recommend as a great high-end apartment in the heart of the capital. 22 November 2010 - 19:09:44

We had a fabulous stay in this lovely apartment. Looking forward to returning in the summer so we can make the most of the roof terrace. Would highly recommend Paul's on Bedford Street for breakfast (French Patisserie) and Sapori on Drury Lane for lunch or dinner (authentic Italian). Cannot fault anything. 08 December 2010 - 10:17:09

A delight from start to finish. Even better than described. Very well-appointed/maintained. Effortless, efficient communication with Mattie throughout the process. Absolutely perfect location - spoilt for choice in every way! 25 January 2011 - 17:37:23

This is a wonderful flat for anyone wanting to be based in the West End near the theatres. It's very convenient to Covent Garden and Holborn tube stops. Flat has a bedroom facing the courtyard which is very quiet--unlike the bustle of Neal St. The roof terrace is a treat for relaxing outside. The flat is very clean and you are welcomed with fresh flowers and a bottle of wine. Definitely recommended! 23 April 2011 - 22:18:22

My wife and I had a wonderful stay here - the apartment had everything we needed, was much quieter than expected, and was in the perfect location for exploring London. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and hope to stay again in the future! 30 October 2017 - 15:52:00

The flat location in Covent Garden is great to go to shows and museums. There many fantastic restaurants: Mon Plaisir - French, Arch Duke - Steak & Jazz Music, Rosso Pomdoro - Italian(excellent pizza) and Il Castelletto - Italian (near British Museum). There are many more but these were our favorites. All are within walking distance of the flat. The flat is well appointed with every amenity you would wish with nothing skimped at. We would return again in the future if the flat is available when in London next. 14 June 2016 - 14:21:50
