When we booked these holidays we were a little skeptical: Is it not always raining in England? Is it warm enough for a pool? Does such a house like the one pictured really exist? "Our" Little Bucksteep Oast has surpassed everything. The location, the surroundings and the house make you feel like being right in a painting or in one of the films that run as "Rosmanude Pilcher Romance" on German television. One can hardly believe that such a property really exists. We had two wonderful sunny weeks with 26 C - no rain, just in one night. It was absolutely relaxing and a dream for the children . Therefore, we were able to persuade them only with difficulty, to make small excursions - they would rather stay at the Oast House and its conveniences. Thanks again to you excellent hosts, Fiona and Robert, for your hospitality and the little touches, especially the homemade apple juice. Salute to Monty Dog, the children miss him. Best wishes from Germany and see you again! 29 July 2014 - 06:32:25

Two families with 3 kids had a really enjoyable and memorable time here at the Oasthouse. Despite the poor weather, kids loved the pool and tennis court, the house was quality throughout. Spacious and characterful, everything was provided for. Wifi and mobile access a bit patchy but ok. Lovely hosts. Thank you we felt right at home. 21 June 2016 - 06:53:00

27 July 2016 - 13:57:00

We enjoyed a great week in the oast house. Our adult children stayed over the weekend and enjoyed using the tennis court. Very spacious holiday property with lovely views, very comfortable four poster bed and well equipped kitchen. Very useful having 2 living areas so anyone not wanting to watch TV could escape into a different room. We had exceptionally good weather for early May and therefore managed to make use of the pool as well as the tennis courts, Had a very nice meal at the Horse and Groom, Rushlake Green and afternoon tea at Fir Trees Tea Room in Penshurst, near Tunbridge Wells. Appreciated the home made apple juice & jam in fridge on arrival plus other goodies left by Fiona & Robert for our arrival. I'd recommend it for families and groups of friends. 13 May 2016 - 14:35:00

17 August 2016 - 07:59:00

Beautifully kept, very relaxing, spacious property with a lovely ambience. Great kitchen diner with plenty of room for all the family to be together. Comfortable beds in lovely rooms, 2 of which are round and the 4 poster bed is real luxury. The Vestentofts are generous and welcoming hosts. My son made use of their swimming pool every day and it was lovely to soak up the sun in the loungers by the pool. We all enjoyed making use of the tennis courts and the peaceful setting of the property was a joy. Lovely holiday with great memories. We can recommend this beautiful holiday home without reservation. Sarah , Birmingham, UK 01 September 2016 - 09:56:00

We just returned from our wonderful stay at the Little Bucksteep Oast House. House and surroundings are fantastic . Unfortunately we missed Fiona and Robert - we are so sorry about that! But their neighbor Nikki gave us a very warm welcome - thank you Nikki for the nice, little talks and hints! We want to say thank you, for creating such a perfect Hideaway - for us it was the perfect place to relax. Wonderful nature and gardens, peace and privacy combined with the amazing Oast House and all its amenities - what more can you expect? The location is ideal to explore Sussex - there is much more to see and do, than we could manage in one week. Castles, beach and coast, gorgeous medieval towns - all within easy reach. We even did`t miss our pets at home in Germany - they were represented at best by the two Dalmatians and cats. We enjoyed their daily visits very much - greetings to all of them!! Back home we showed our photos to my sister - she was really thrilled and we hope to return together one day! Til then we ll preserve our lovely memories... 14 September 2016 - 15:25:00

Oast house is a charming old house with lots of space for a big family. The big beds in the oast house were the pleasure of the children. They felt like prince and princess. We spent a lot of time on the tennis court and the pool, when the weather was good and luckily we had some very nice sunny days. The owners are very friendly and helpful and the two dogs were a great pleasure to the children. They were always looking for them. The kitchen is big and well equipped with all electrical appliances you need. The surrounding area is lovely and peaceful with a lot of birds, sheep etc. The beach is not far away and we had a lot of fun collecting piles of shells and stones in every shape and colour. At Heathfield we found three groceries where we got everything what we needed. It was a nice relaxing holiday that we enjoyed. This beautiful cottage really deserves your visit. Thanks to Fiona and Robert to make it such a warm and welcoming place. Hope to come back sometimes. 30 May 2016 - 19:55:00

The facilities were just brilliant. Had full use of the garden and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Great location, so much to see and do in the area. All bedrooms were extremely comfortable and the bed linen was just devine. We had the best possible week and can't recommend this place highly enough. Fiona and Robert were fantastic hosts. Thank you for a great week. 06 June 2017 - 09:20:00

This was our third visit to Little Bucksteep Oast and it will not be our last. All communication with Fiona is fast and efficient. Upon arrival a warm welcome is guaranteed and the oast house is the perfect base for exploring East Sussex. The house itself is very well equipped with everything one could want during a holiday. The property is spotlessly clean and spacious with high quality utensils and linens. Outside the gardens are very well kept and the swimming pool and tennis court an added bonus. Thank you Fiona and Robert for making our stay so enjoyable not forgetting Monty and Dizzy. 12 July 2017 - 16:52:00

We simply loved our two-week holiday in Dallington. The house is beautiful on the outside and nice and cosy inside. Being French, we wanted a house with English charm. The children used the heated pool almost everyday and spent most of their time playing in the garden. They also picked blackberries in the garden with Fiona, the owner. She also let them play with the two dalmatians, Dizzy and Monty, and the cat, Harry. It was probably the highlight of their holiday! There are lods of things to do in the region : smugglers adventure in Hastings for the children, Brighton, Hever Castle , Bodian Castle, Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters, the delightful village of Alfriston and Bateman s (Kipling s house). We enjoyed everything about our holiday in England and strongly recommend this rental. The only thing that could have been better is ....the weather. It rained on a few occasions. 08 August 2017 - 18:07:00

Little Bucksteep Oast House provided us with a tranquil, homely base with a beautiful swimming pool and tennis court as an added bonus. Fiona and Robert were charming and their delightful welcoming pack included biscuits and fresh apple juice! As busy teachers we found ourselves in a blissful haven. My grandson and daughter listened regularly to the owls hooting and looking up at the twinkling stars at night. The lush green surroundings complemented the luxurious furnishings in all rooms; it was obvious that the owners cared for their guests in every aspect. We plan to return again and would recommend our 'secret escape ' to any family wishing to experience a part of our heritage in a glorious location. Shhh!! 21 August 2017 - 09:55:00

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Little Bucksteep Oast House. Fiona was an incredibly gracious host and greeted us upon arrival with a warm smile. Once inside the Oast we saw a lovely welcome basket of assorted local items, a very lovely personal touch. would most definitely recommend the property to other families. We all enjoyed the use of the pool and tennis courts throughout the day and enjoyed the surroundings each evening. We all loved the visits from the two dogs and they became welcome guests. Thank you for a lovely stay. 31 July 2016 - 15:59:00

We all had a great time at Little Bucksteep Oast. The location is very good for visiting the many attractions that East Sussex and Kent have to offer. Brighton, Lewes, Hastings, Battle, Rye, Camber sands and many more are within easy reach from LBO and yet LBO is in a very peaceful location. LBO is surrounded by beautiful gardens which are in themselves set in rural surroundings. The property itself is a converted oast mostly dating back several hundred years however it has a modern feel to it. Two of the three bedrooms are located in the 'oast'. One is a double in a very generously sized room and the other is located upstairs towards the top of the oast and contains the most enormous 4 poster bed I have ever seen! It felt as though I needed to text my wife to check to see if she was in the other side of the bed! I would however like to point out that in my 30 years of marriage holiday beds have tended to be a bit of a let down in terms of comfort on my wife's part. Not this bed at LBO! 'One of the most comfortable ever' according to my dearly beloved! The third bedroom is located off a landing as you go up to the top bedroom. This is a delightful twin (+1) room which floods with light from 3 windows. Back downstairs there is a large sitting room in the main part of the old oast. This is complete with log burner and I would think would be al lovely cosy room on a cold evening (we were blessed by good weather so didn't have the need to test this out!). Past the lounge there is a really good shower room (upstairs there is a modern bathroom with shower over bath) and a utility area with washing machine. This then leads through into a great kitchen/ dining/living space where we spent most of our evening time (when not outdoors). This is a superb space for gathering to eat, talk, play games etc. The kitchen has everything you could need (including dishwasher!) and the dining table could easily seat 10 or more around it. The sitting area is comfortable and overlooks patio and gardens. Outside the 3 burner gas BBQ was well used (there is also a traditional Weber charcoal type of BBQ if this is your preference) and of course the tennis court and swimming pool. Overall a great time was had by all. Our group was 2 x 53yrs, 2 x 21 yrs and 2 x 18yrs but I would think all age ranges could enjoy a stay at LBO. Our only disappointment was that we could only be there for 1 week - you really need more! PS Nearly forgot the 2 lovely Dalmations and the cat! 12 July 2016 - 07:55:00

The property is superb. We hired it for 7 to celebrate a 50th Wedding anniversary. Loads of room, rustic homely decor and an excellent setting. Really enjoyed the tennis court and swimming pool. Fiona, the properties owner was very helpful and accommodating. A great weekend. Highly recommended. 14 September 2017 - 07:54:00

Had a lovely weekend away at this pretty little Oast house. I don't think the photos do it justice! We stayed as a party of 7 ( 4 adults and 3 children) and had a great time. Loads of space inside and outside and thankful that weather was just about warm enough to sample the pool and the tennis court. Setting is fantastic. Lots to do in local area aswell but its not in walking distance to anything as really in the heart of the country so be prepared to drive. very peaceful... Owners very relaxed and helpful and have 2 gorgeous dogs who are happy to hang out with you if you'd like. Would definitely recommend. 04 September 2017 - 06:52:00

We had a wonderful holiday at the Oast House. Fiona and Robert were very welcoming and accommodating and we appreciated the little touches such as the home made apple juice and Prosecco when we arrived! The Oast house is extremely comfortable and boasts the most well equipped kitchen we've ever stayed in, we even managed to do some baking on the one and only rainy day! The big hit though for our two teenage boys was the pool - they absolutely loved it and it was a godsend during a freak sunny spell in late August. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and were delighted with the Oast House - highly recommended. Jane, Jon, Louis and Charlie 04 September 2017 - 08:01:00

We stayed here for a week in late August and were very pleased. The Oast house was clean, comfortable and well appointed. We had our own garden, tennis court, and pool-though the weather didn't permit our taking full advantage on this stay. Our host, Fiona and Robert, were very welcoming-as we had shipped some specialty foods items in advance that awaited our arrival. Located in the beautiful East Sussex countryside it was initially a little difficult to locate, but after a quick phone call to our host redirected us to our comfortable vacation home. 07 November 2015 - 23:39:02
