About listing

INSIDE: It boasts 5 reception rooms with 8 sets of french doors opening on to the mature garden. 6/7 bedrooms with great beds and loads of light, including an amazing vaulted ceilinged master bedroom featuring two sofas and and 12ft high canopy super king bed along with a luxurious marble en suite with a polished roll top bath. It has a bespoke chef's kitchen (150cm double oven with 8 hobs) with cooking area and 3 sofa lounge area looking over the garden, plus an additional separate second kitchen / utility. It is one of the biggest and oldest (reputed to have the oldest door chain in Kennington) private houses in Kennington with some beautiful original features and a layout where you can all group together or have your own space depending on our your needs. Ideal for a large family group, friends travelling together or people who love space. FACILITIES: The house has a house wide audio system so you can pipe music round the house or not, also you can stream worldwide radio and music, as well as having a partners desk in the study, super fast wifi network and numerous TVs. OUTSIDE: We are set back off the road with a front garden with mature trees and are also are lucky enough to have a huge secret triangular garden at the rear of the house (74ft x 150ft) with mature trees, rambling climbers and a croquet lawn, not to mention outdoor furniture and a wisteria clad archway. You can even hear Big Ben chime in the garden whilst the house itself shields street noise. THE AREA: We love the area too - The neighbourhood is one of London's best kept secrets and they regularly shoot films on Georgian square behind us. Too central to be a suburb it is a real authentic old part of central London littered with history, and where so much of it got destroyed in WWII - our house luckily survived. Kennington is in a bubble of land on the south side of the River Thames so in 5-20mins on foot you can get to so many places. We are are just 15 mins walk to Westminster, Tate Britain, and 25 mins walk National Galleries, Covent Garden, South Bank, and Theatreland - plus there's the West End with cafes, bars, clubs and restaurants accessible by foot or taxi. We are even right next to (1min walk) to the Imperial War Museum and park. The bus network virtually goes everywhere form the Imperial war Museum and Lambeth North Tube or Waterloo are the nearest underground stations.

We used the house as a base for our Christmas Party. The house was so impressive we really didnt want to leave the property and we could have simply shut the doors to life and stayed in for the entire weekend. It has everything you would need and just felt like a better home from home. Would love to stay again and thank you for making it available for us! 05 December 2016 - 07:03:00

We recently stayed at this property to celebrate my partner's 30th birthday. We had a wonderful time and I thoroughly recommend this house for any large groups. The house was immaculate, tastefully decorated and kitted out with all the technology / appliances / crockery that you could need for a large group. We were greeted with a warm welcome by the property manager and a lovely hamper/welcome pack, which I thought was a lovely touch. Whilst there were 12 of us staying in total we all had ample room and never felt that we were on top of each another. Thank you for a wonderful stay. 19 December 2016 - 15:54:00
  3. The house is magnificent. We were 13 and everyone had his own privacy when wanted. The garden in the middle of London is a huge bonus. Location is excellent. The whole booking procedure and communication with the owner was pleasant. The house manager was very helpful. However, the house is not air-conditioned and was very hot during the days. That should be considered when booking a summer vacation. There were also some maintenance problems that should be taken care of. 27 August 2016 - 08:56:00

We had a very nice stay at the house. Very good location, only few minutes walking from Westminster bridge. Very big house well furnished with beautiful amenities. The garden in the city is just paradise. We only can complained about the quality of the bedding which is not homogeneous in all rooms. 10 April 2017 - 10:26:00

My family spent Thanksgiving in London visiting our daughter who is studying at UCL and had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful property. When we arrived, we were absolutely thrilled with the house and all it had to offer. The house is even better than the pictures. After being graciously greeted at the door, we walked from room to room in awe. The kitchen is truly a chef's kitchen with new appliances, plenty of quality pots and pans for cooking Thanksgiving dinner and a wonderful selection of plates, cutlery and glassware. The living spaces provided lots of room for all to spread out with an incredible room on the lower floor to watch movies and enjoy family time together. The master bedroom is spectacular! If travelling with more than one couple be prepared to draw straws! The house is well appointed and felt warm and inviting. Don't worry about being too far out of central London, the location of this property could not be better. We found walking to the Eye of London, Big Ben, and West Minister Abby an easy walk and even walked to Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square. The city was incredibly easy to access, but once back home there was a real sense of peace and quiet and plenty of space. The store next door was well stocked for being so small. It sold everything from a loaf of bread to champagne to spices! Thank you Damian for sharing your house with us....we can't wait to return! 05 December 2016 - 02:49:00

I cannot rate this house highly enough. We booked to stay here based on two reasons. Firstly, the property is located close to the centre and we were keen to visit the cultural highlights of the capital city. The house did not disappoint in this respect, and being so close to the Imperial War Museum (literally round the corner) it was rather lovely to start our day with a coffee here, or on the Southbank. We sometimes took the tube (to South Kensington, or to the City) but mainly enjoyed walking to Westminster and up to Trafalgar Square, beyond to Covent Garden. We felt like we were truly in the city and could enjoy the ambience and atmosphere of London life. We were able to come back to the house, relax and spread out. It has all mod cons, internet, sonos etc. It is an amazingly large and quiet property, considering it is in the centre of London. Secondly the very look of the property intrigued and excited us. Once again the house was as we imagined, if not better. London is full of terraced houses but this particular Georgian house is detached. The interior retains many period features, fireplaces, cornices but also combines this with luxury contemporary living. The master bedroom and separate master bathroom are to die for, with high ceilings, chandelier and (bathroom) free standing bath. Infact, whoever restored and dressed this property has an eye for detail and has managed to conserve the original beauty of the style, updated with contemporary artwork and furnishings. We found everything in good order, fresh clean linen, mirrors and table tops sparkling. I must also mention the wonderful and tranquil garden. Honestly, you wouldn't know you were in London, it is lush and green and full of singing birds! I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone. Thank you to the owners for a truly memorable London vacation. 21 August 2016 - 19:21:00

My family shared the house to meet for my 70th birthday. The house gave us all we hoped for. It really is as beautiful, well-appointed and conveniently-located as the website says. 29 May 2017 - 14:39:00

Well situated , made a great base for our city visit. Comfortable to enjoy down time, relaxing backyard. Convenient to nice pub and a couple of shops in front for grocery items as needed. Hosts are wonderful, no pretensions. We had a great time. 30 August 2017 - 00:05:00

Spacious, very new bath/kitchen/etc. features. 300 year old house has only one-zone heating and lots of half-story stairs (a bit of a maze). But overall very nice. Not the usual tourist neighborhood at all, but very close to all the major London attractions. Very attention house manager. 25 September 2017 - 10:58:00

We had 3 generations in this house and all were comfortable and happy. Plenty of room to spread out with space large enough to also be together. The location of this house was perfect for walking to many exhibits and to experience London. Great location for groceries and restaurants. Would rent again should we return. 26 November 2017 - 13:12:00
