About listing

Hi my name is Paul, thank you for looking. You can arrive anytime after 18:00 (6pm) and depart anytime before 11:00 (11am) to suit your travel arrangements - you don't need to fix a specific time for arrival or departure. You can arrive or depart any day of the week. You can leave your bags behind the concierge desk in the lobby on the day you arrive and depart. You'll have the use of my modern lift serviced studio which is just 4 minutes walk from Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. You'll have crisp clean white bed linen, fluffy white towels, a hairdryer, a trouser press, suitcase stand, your own fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with shower over the bath. You'll also have a selection of teas, Nespresso coffee, personal soaps, toilet paper, kitchen cleaning products, dishwasher tablets and washing machine consumables. There's a small Tesco grocery store right next door with an ATM. Please add me to your wish list so you can find me again! Please check the calendar for availability - it's always up to date. My studio is perfect for a couple sightseeing, shopping, dining or going to the theatre or shows in London; or for a business person working in the city. This studio is in a modern, purpose built block served with 2 lifts and a large light welcoming lobby area. It has a lounge/bedroom with a permanent double bed, large sofa, chair, plus a dining table and chairs and a TV and DVD player. There's a separate fully equipped kitchen with a large fridge/freezer, oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, dishwasher and washer/dryer machine. You also have an iron and ironing board and a trouser press. The modern bathroom has a shower over the bath. Starbucks or Pret are 1 minute walk at the end of the street. Eating out locally? All the places below are 2 - 10 minute walk. -------------------------- Next to London Bridge and the Tower of London on the North West side you'll find a Wagamama for noodles, a Bodeans for ribs and BBQ, and a Starbucks. Charming and picturesque St Katherine Docks over the road on the North East side of the bridge has a super range of bars and restaurants - St Katharine Docks is one of the best-kept secret locations in Central London and has a great atmosphere. Brick Lane's curry houses are a 10 minute walk North East of the flat. If you'd like a spectacular view while you dine a 10 minute walk will take you to the Heron Tower's two restaurants or sky bar - at 175 metres above the city the views are stunning! The restaurants are called Sushi Samba and the Duck and Waffle (note - no trainer style shoes allowed). Or head south of the river over Tower Bridge, down the steps and turn left and you'll find Le Pont de la Tour on the river bank. Famous for top end French cuisine Pont de la Tour has fantastic views of the Bridge. Alternatively go down the steps and turn right to walk past City Hall and the Scoop amphitheatre towards HMS Belfast moored on the south bank and you'll find Gaucho, Dim T, Strada, Pod, Pret, a Bagel Street deli and an M&S simply food. Every budget catered for... Shopping? --------------- Oxford Circus is 19 minutes on the tube in one direction and the new Westfield shopping centre in Stratford next to the Olympic Park is 13 minutes in the other direction. Sightseeing? ------------------ Tower Bridge Exhibition is fascinating (you can walk right across the top and go down and see the engines that lift the bascules). A 20 minute walk south over Tower Bridge and along the south bank past the Scoop amphitheatre and HMS Belfast will find you in Borough Market, London’s most renowned food market with exceptional British and international produce. Continue a bit further and you'll pass a replica of Sir Francis Drakes' Golden Hinde, The Clink - England's first prison, the Globe Theatre, Tate Modern and then the footbridge back over the Thames towards St Paul’s cathedral. Going east, Greenwich is a 20 minute ride on the River Taxi which stops right in front of the Tower of London or an easy trip on the DLR through Canary Wharf. The Royal Observatory, home of Greenwich Mean Time and the Prime Meridian line was founded by Charles II in 1675 and is, by international decree, the official starting point for each new day, year and millennium (at the stroke of midnight GMT is measured from the Prime Meridian). Explore all of London - Oxford Street, the West End theatres, Buckingham Palace, Natural History Museum, Science Museum, the V&A, the Royal Parks (boats on the Serpentine). All are easily accessible by tube, regular or open top bus, black cab, river taxi or even Boris bikes! Anyone can hire Boris bikes... just pop your debit or credit card in the machine next to the bikes and follow the instructions. Or pick up a map in the flat and walk. Nowhere is far away! The flat is in Zone 1 on the London Underground. Tower Hill tube station (green/district line and yellow/circle line underground trains) is just 2-3 minutes' walk; Tower gateway DLR is even closer. London Bridge Station is a 20-minute walk or about a £6 taxi ride and Fenchurch Street station is a 5-minute walk. River Taxis are available from Tower Pier, which is right next to the Tower of London and a short 6 minute walk from the flat. Several Boris bike racks are just a couple of minutes away too! Arriving by air or Eurostar? ------------------------------------- From Gatwick airport it is only 30 minutes on the train to London Bridge station (Southern or First Capital Connect trains run 2-3 times an hour) or take a Gatwick Express train to Victoria station. From London City airport it is about 20 minutes on the DLR to Tower Gateway and the flat is then a 3 minute walk. From Heathrow it is about an hour by tube and train via Paddington station to Tower Hill tube station. If you are arriving on Eurostar into St Pancras you'll need the circle underground train from St Pancras to Tower Hill which will take you about 20 minutes. I'm afraid I don't accept provisional bookings. First accepted enquirer to pay secures the dates

We loved our stay in Paul's apartment. Very easy access to the building, key pickup was a breeze, very secure and easy to get to from the train station. It's a 5 minute walk from Tower Station undergraound and 8 mins walk from Algate Station underground (both are on the zone 1 line) which is where you want to be to see all the main sites in London. Also, it is about a 8-10 mins walk to the Tower of London. The bed was very confortable, bathroom was nice, full kitchen, a bit small, but has everything you need if you plan to use it and there is a washing machine if you need. There is an ATM machine and Tesco grocery store just around the corner and lots of restaurant variety on Algate Street and along the riverfront. There were only two small problems we experienced one was with the wifi, it was extremely slow but from the information we got from friends in England apparently this is a problem all over the UK, which we experienced elsewhere as well, and not necessarily a problem specific to the apartment,. The other issue was with one of the windows in the main room, it was hard to open and impossible to close but we only opened it on the night before we left and I was able to close it enough that it did not stay open. We didn't meet Paul in person but he answered all our questions via email very quickly. Thank you for a wonderful time in London. I would recommend and would stay here again. 07 July 2017 - 17:34:00

The place had a code lock which rid of the hassle of trying to meet your host at a certain time which was very convenient. It was such a nice place and was just about as good (if not better!) than staying at a hotel. But this gives you more bang for your buck. Thank you for a wonderful stay! 27 June 2017 - 21:59:00

Paul's apartment is wonderfully appointed and spacious. He provides many amenities to enjoy your stay in his flat. Centrally located near London Tower (5 minute walk) and short walk to two different Underground lines. Also, plenty of bus line choices. Neighborhood had many good restaurants - Spice, Empress and Fora to mention a few. Had a great stay and look forward to being there again. Thanks Paul! 08 June 2017 - 12:56:00

I stayed in this flat while in London for a conference at the ExCeL center - the location was ideal in terms of easy access to the conference center (it's a ~2 min walk to the DLR Tower Gateway station) while still being in central London. It's just a few minutes walk from the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, two of London's most iconic sites. The flat was exactly as pictured and provided everything I needed; while the flat isn't huge, it was more than enough space for 1 person (and WAY more space than you'd get in a hotel for a comparable price!). The street outside was a bit noisy, but that comes with being in central London (and when the windows were closed it wasn't at all noticeable). There is a Tesco Express and an ATM just around the corner from the building entrance, and many pubs, coffee shops, and restaurants (both sit-down and take-away) within a few blocks. I communicated with Paul several times via message and phone calls, and he was extremely accommodating with check-in and check-out times, which helped me avoid a lot of logistical luggage nightmares during the trip (Thanks Paul!). Overall I had a great stay and would definitely recommend this flat! 07 August 2017 - 17:58:00

Safe, well-located flat in good City location. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed, excellent quality white bed linen and towels. Stylish kitchen and bathroom. Small problem with the lighting which Paul is aware of and is sorting out. Would happily return. 20 August 2017 - 14:40:00

This is a very clean, well kept, modern, quiet & spacious apartment. Comfortable bed & pillows, a well stocked kitchen with some essentials provided (e.g. regular & decaf coffee, tea, salt, sugar, laundry detergent pods & softener, etc.) sufficient storage & a nice, clean bathroom (super fluffy hotel-grade towels and travel size soap bars were provided - yeah!). TESCO around the corner is a definite plus. Centrally located & minutes from the train station, Tower Hill & Tower Bridge plus great restaurants & pubs all within walking distance. We felt safe walking around even late at night. It was a tad noisy if windows were left open but quiet with closed windows especially at night. A+ for Paul, who was friendly and very responsive to our calls and emails. We would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone and will consider using it again during our next visit to London. Cheers! 20 September 2017 - 16:52:00

The area is really nice, well located and with good transportation links through London. The flat was really good, clean and has everything that may be needed. Paul was at all times reachable, plus the instructions for getting in/out the apartment were very clear. 19 September 2017 - 15:29:00

Great location for my vacation plans; convenient for Underground, rail and buses and very nice people working in building ie: concierge and cleaning staff. 11 October 2017 - 17:06:00

The building itself is in need of an upgrade, but the apartment itself is in great shape. My only complaints are we needed some instructions for the clothes washer/dryer. Finally figured it out, but it would have saved us a lot of time. Another complaint is the weird shower door... it only covers half the shower. You get used to it, but it is odd. There is rarely someone at the front desk if you need extra toilet paper or something. Lastly, the Wifi would go in and out a lot, but we weren't in the room enough to really use it. On our first night we had an issue where water was leaking in from the bathroom ceiling!! It turned out it was the guests upstairs had flooded their bathroom by letting the bath run over, whoops! Paul (the owner) was very tentative with getting back to us about the issue, he replied to me almost immediately via VRBO, and was very accommodating to helping us figure out what to do. He is great to do business with. All in all, very worth the price and I would return. 21 October 2017 - 16:51:00

The condo was clean, secured and well kept. It is also well located, having a grocery store, restaurants and Starbuck just around the corner... The concierge, Jorges, was very helpfull as for directions, buying a new coffe maker, and keeping the place spotless. 14 November 2017 - 13:03:00

My husband and I stayed here for three nights over the New Year's Eve holiday and we were very pleased with the location, within minutes of two tube stations, Tower Hill and Aldgate. The apartment was clean, well maintained and we felt very safe walking around the area at night. A definite plus was the grocery store and Starbucks close by. Excellent communication with our host, Paul. We would definitely stay here again. 04 January 2018 - 13:15:00

We spent a week in central London to see the sights. This little apartment suited our needs well. It is a 5 minute walk to the Tower Hill tube station, closer to Tower Gateway, which we did not use at all. It is in a business district. Short walk to the Tower Bridge. It is about 20 minutes by Tube to many places we wanted to see. Paul communicated well, and answered questions quickly. He was flexible with working with our schedule, and this was greatly appreciated. I think that this place is a good value for what you get. One thing I noticed is that Street sounds are audible. I am quite sensitive to noise at night, so I was aware of cars driving by, and the numerous sirens. There was no noise from other flat dwellers. We would go again. 19 December 2017 - 14:41:00

Although on the maps this appears out of the way, being located very close to the Tower (5 min walk) it was really quite easy to get all around London, given the proximity to the Tube -- and besides, if you like walking, it's about 40 minutes to Trafalgar Square along the river. If you are a person who likes to sleep with the window open, you need earplugs here; not just traffic but a constant machine humming from the building's AC system I suspect. I would suggest that Paul put in a couple of reading lamps, near the bed and the couch. Loved the fact of the washing machine. Everything worked fine. 23 November 2017 - 17:46:00
