Just returned from a terrific family vacation in a perfect vacation home. Had all the necessities as well as lots of thoughtful extras that made us all feel at home, especailly our 3-year old daughter. Highlights of the property include: + Great sleeping location - quiet and dark bedrooms, never to be taken for granted in any city + Very functional kitchen, fully stocked with everything needed to cook as much as desired + US-style plumbing, including a new high-power shower (never to be taken for granted in London) + Huge living / dining room with spacious seating areas, fireplace, multiple zones + Fantastic park right next door with multiple playgrounds, gardens, etc + Location is close enough to lots of stuff while still feeling like a real (quiet) neighborhood. NB the location would not be ideal for someone who wants to be completely in the middle of things or who minds a frequent 10-minute walk to get to chops/coffee/tube stops/whatever. 08 September 2010 - 05:40:02

The house is beautiful--clean, light, airy. Very well maintained. The living space is a great space in which to relax. The kitchen is modern and very easy to use. The owners clearly care deeply for their home. Location was perfect for the kids--the park is right there and a lot of fun for children, and our children were able to come and go as they pleased. The area is very safe and an easy walk to the tube. It's a peaceful alternative to staying in the center of London, but still easy to get around. 21 June 2012 - 20:46:21

After a lot of searching I happened upon Marina's lovely property. The pictures on VRBO and another website were extremely appealing. The location was top notch. My family of 5 were not disappointed. From the beginning to the end, Marina and her caretaker were pleasant, helpful and accomodating. The home was spacious, well appointed-CLEAN, and the location was a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. I was even able to run. My kids loved the park as well. We never took a taxi because the tube was so easy to find and use. I'd stay again in a heartbeat should we decide to return for another visit to London... 14 August 2012 - 17:33:11
  5. Our family of six, including four boys (ages 16 -9), had the pleasure of staying for a week during the Olympics! The apartment is wonderful! The decor is simple, chic boho, with great art! Beautiful setting on a park. Easy access to busses, and walking distance to sweet little neighborhoods! We felt well taken care of from the moment we arrived and were greeted by Marina's darling apartment manager! The only concerning issues were that the kitchen was just redone, and gorgeous, but felt too delicate for our crew, and the living room furniture set-up was not big enough for us. Perfect size for a group of adults, or a smaller family than six! We would stay there again in a heartbeat! 16 September 2012 - 01:59:02

My family (4 adults, 2 small children) had a very enjoyable stay at this property. From the initial contact with Marina to the final check out, the experience was everything we hoped it would be. The house itself is a gem. After spending the day sightseeing on the busy streets of London the property was a tranquil space that we looked forward to returning to every night. The kitchen is well equipped and the appliances are all top notch. The living space is large with enough room for the kids to play in one area while the adults prepare dinner. The bedrooms are all comfortably equipped and large enough. No issues with the shower or bathtub. Everything was exactly as advertised. One word of caution the countertop is very sensitive to acidic foods and liquids. It will etch and there was adequate warning from the property manager about this. We did our food prep on the secondary stainless steel counter and had no issues. Marina went over and above to make us feel welcome. She left age appropriate toys for our 2 kids (2 & 5) and made sure there was a crib and high chair out and available for use. The kids loved the house but loved the park next door even more. This was ideal for the girls and they enjoyed running around and playing with new friends at the end of each day. The house is located in a beautiful area and the nearby Portobello Market is a great place to buy everything from fresh produce to antiques. Getting downtown to the major sights does take about half an hour on the tube but is very easy to navigate. In a taxi youre looking at about 16 pounds each way. We absolutely recommend this property and very much appreciate Marinas hospitality and attention to detail. 11 June 2013 - 19:05:14

We had a wonderful stay at the loft. Everything was exactly as described, and beautifully appointed. We are a family of four, two adults and two kids, ages 10 and 13. The home was very comfortable for us, especially the beds. Our kids had the use of a park right next door, which was great for both them and us. We would let them go play there alone and didn't worry. There is a convenient bus that stops just up the block, and a tube stop nearby. We easily got around London from this location, which is near Portobello Rd and some very cute neighborhood areas that offer good places to eat and shop. It is quiet, and away from the bustle of Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square, which was a relief at the end of a busy day. I would say this is a perfect place for families with older children, such as ours, because the place is filled with beautiful things, and care needs to be taken. All in all, a great trip, and I highly recommend Marina's loft for your next trip to London. We would love to return. 19 August 2013 - 20:35:04

We absolutely loved our stay at the Sunswept loft. The pictures and description were accurate and we had no surprises upon arrival. The home was clean, beautifully decorated and the kitchen well stocked with everything that you would need. We are a family of 5 with 2 teenage children and a 9 year old and we were very comfortable in this home. Having a park right next door with fields to play football was an added bonus! Whenever we had any questions, the owner was helpful and prompt with her responses. 01 September 2013 - 11:15:19

We highly recommend Marina's lovely, well-appointed and restful flat. For the most part, it's location offered a welcome retreat at the end of our busy days in other areas of London. Marina is attentive to every detail and takes excellent care of her guests. Unfortunately, our first few days there were interrupted by the chaos and commotion of the Notting Hill Carnival. While we would book with Marina again, we would avoid booking anything in Notting Hill the last weekend in August. 07 October 2013 - 16:07:28

This is one of those houses, where the photos are splendid, but the real thing is even better! The house manages to balance being state of the art while also being very comfortable and relaxing. We stayed for an entire month with our two teenagers and really appreciated the location. We had easy access to the amazing bus system right outside the door and of course the underground. We could go anywhere -- and did! But it was always so nice to go HOME. The house is beautiful, roomy and so peaceful. It sits back off the street - you enter through a garden and then find yourself in a gorgeous home surrounded by a park. So while you are still very much in London, you can retreat to your own sanctuary. I couldn't recommend it more highly! 23 October 2013 - 18:14:41

We arrived late (9:55 pm at Heathrow) with family in tow (3 adults and 2 teenagers) and checked ourselves in, using the digicode and keys supplied while we were still Stateside by the owner. The owner addressed all my concerns about that, including a personal U.S. telephone contact to use if needed, in addition to contact info for the onsite person, and our arrival went smoothly despite arriving close to midnight. The house is charming, warm, and welcoming--the gas fireplace being particularly welcome on chilly evenings and early mornings--and sunswept indeed. As it backs onto parkland, it was a pleasure to take my morning espresso standing by the fireplace watching as neighborhood residents and their dogs greeted each other or jogged around the perimeter. The kitchen appliances and equipment are first rate and made it easy to eat in 3 or 4 nights, although one night we ordered pizza delivery that included salads and a bottle of wine. We especially liked being in a pleasant residential neighborhood with easy access to public transportation (bus stops down the street and the Ladbroke Grove tube stop a short walk away), with a large park behind us and Portobello Road a few blocks away. The house is nicely decorated without being stuffy and the main floor, with the kitchen at one end and the fireplace and a seating area at the other and a large round dining table, worked very well for the 5 of us. The 3 bedrooms and 2 baths (one with a large freestanding bathtub and the other with a walk-in shower) upstairs were comfortable and accommodating. The beds were firm, the bath towels were thick, and we never ran out of hot water. We slept with the large skylights open for ventilation at night and it is a quiet neighborhood, so no problems with noise. 23 April 2014 - 01:15:16

Our family of six (4 adults and 2 children) found Marina's "sunswept loft" to be the perfect home away from home while visiting London. The location of the house was perfect- next to a beautiful park, walking distance to the tube, Portabello Road (and iconic market), and interesting little neighborhood shops and restaurants. The #7 bus stopped right outside our door! The house itself was spacious with plenty of comfortable sleeping room and an open-concept first floor kitchen/dining/living area that was decorated nicely but was easy to relax in. All of the appliances were new and in good working order. The bathrooms were light and spacious and served us well for getting ready in the morning. In fact, the entire house was well ventilated and "sunswept" and even in the warm summer temperatures (80s), it was quite cool with just the occasional use of the fans provided. All in all, we decided that we would stay there again, if we came to London with a group. It was wonderful! 19 August 2014 - 21:57:45

We are a film production company from Canada and were on the lookout for a location where we could have a small film set up for conducting interviews for TV series we are producing in Canada- and house 3 crew members at the same time. This home worked perfectly for our spec for a 7 night stay. We chose the home because of the spacious downstairs living space which allowed us to set up a small interview area (we had to move some furniture with the help of Marina) and the three separate bedrooms upstairs. Marina was totally professional and on top of it in all our communication leading up to the shoot and throughout it. She was very accommodating on all fronts to make our crew and the home work for their needs. From recommending lunch delivery to be brought in every day to logistical aspects for the shoot, we were well taken care of every step of the way. The home is very quiet and private as it's set off the street and partially faces into a local park, and even though we did not get a chance to enjoy the beautiful furnishings downstairs because of all our equipment, our 3 crew slept well in their comfortable bedrooms upstairs and were able to cook some meals in the fully kitted out kitchen. The area is very well located for local transport with the tube station a short walk away. All in all a total success! 05 May 2015 - 12:33:15

We stayed at the house and enjoyed it very much. Marina was very kind and helpful. Although she was not in town while we stayed there, she stayed in touch with us and made sure everything was great. 07 September 2015 - 17:00:19

My family of 5 (2 adults, 2 children and a nanny) came to London for an extended 2 month stay over the summer and we had such a lovely time in Marina's home. The location was was perfect, a short walk into Portobello Market for our day to day shopping and soaking up the local air, very easy access to the tube station (7 min. walk) as well as the added bonus of being next door to a lovely park which is great if you have children that need to let off steam. The house is beautifully appointed and very tasteful, well maintained and was very spacious for all of us to move around freely. Beds and bedrooms were very comfortable and the two bathrooms were well appointed and spotless. The entire downstairs is a large open space with two comfortable seating areas (one for the kids and one for us), an open plan kitchen and dining area (kitchen great to cook in - all top of the line appliances both large and small) and lots of natural light throughout the day. Nice that the sun set through the two living room windows casting a glow over the whole downstairs. The home is very quiet during the day as it is set off the street, no traffic noise night and also very private with no other homes looking onto it which is unusual for London. The owner was highly attentive to all our needs both pre arrival and throughout our two month stay. We also loved her housekeeper who came twice a week to keep things tidy. I would highly recommend this home not just for an extended stay! We were very happy during our time in this home and would definitely stay again! 25 February 2016 - 18:17:56

Our family of two adults and three young adult children stayed for Christmas through the New Year. When we arrived the two story home was literally sun filled which put us in a great mood. We were able to get everywhere we wanted to go, all over the city and beyond, via public transportation (despite the closest underground station being close for repair). It is a very residential neighborhood, but you can still walk to the market and shops to get a bite to eat and drink. The home is comfortable and tastefully and stylish appointed with enough room for everyone to find a cozy spot to relax in the large open first floor. The bedrooms are comfortable for sleeping and it was nice having two bathrooms upstairs. Marina has a lot of rules and reminders to help guests care for the home and it works, because everything is spotless and in perfect repair. She is also a good communicator and and pleasure to deal with. 03 April 2016 - 19:28:35

We spent two weeks in this lovely two story home myself, my husband and our two young children over Easter. The home is very well appointed and immaculate. Beds and linen are top quality. Kitchen is a dream to cook in. Large open floor areas downstairs for the little ones to play on and a wonderful small park adjacent which is a real bonus for the kids. Marina was very attentive in all the follow up to our stay, we organised a crib to be delivered for our youngest and she dealt with all those details and also the pick up when we left. She was a pleasure to deal with. She stocked the fridge with a pre selected list of necessities, which made arriving much easier - this is a really nice service if you don't want to think about grocery shopping right after you arrive. There are good transport links from the house, you can either take the bus to the tube station or walk, its not far, we got around perfectly. The home is very private and very quiet too and in a nice residential area. We were very happy with this home and would stay again. 18 June 2016 - 14:58:14

Entry via a lovely garden was so welcoming. The loft is truly sun swept and cheerful. The decor and artwork, books, furniture and kitchen equipment were so exceptional that I felt we were visiting a friends home as a special guest. Everything reflects a great "design eye" and loving care. Hardly what one usually finds in a rental. We were two adults and art lovers. Then one left after a week and my family(2adults and two girls 10&8) arrived. The park next door was an immediate hit with the girls. They had daily play time after their London sightseeing as an added bonus. The area is a quiet residential neighborhood like being in the country ( fresh air) looking out at trees and a green park yet within walking distance to the tube that takes you to the bustle and sights of London. We felt it was further from NOTTING HILL than we expected. Also if you have children one needs to be especially vigilant to have them take the care that the lovely furnishing deserve. Marina was most helpful for any of our needs and questions. They were many guidebooks and maps at our disposal. Marina has a book for visitors that thoroughly covers all aspects of how things work and labels items throughout the house. I admire her organization and communication skills. Can't imagine anyone not loving their stay at this very special property. 18 July 2016 - 17:49:45

Its a wonderful home with all the items customarily found in a vacation home. The house has beautiful decor and is very well maintained by the owners. The first floor is a great space for families to gather cook, eat, read, watch tv, surf the internet, etc. 26 July 2016 - 19:01:46

This property is a museum, not a home. There is a long and laborious owner's manual, detailing all manner of behavior. For example, "Heels are not allowed" to be worn within the property. In addition, there are written notes in plexiglass throughout the household demanding further behavior. For example, "Use the black washcloths to wash your face". Plus, there are labels all about the house, with more instructions as what to do and what not to do. The owner texted daily and on a repeated basis, interfering with our ability to enjoy our vacation. I had to demand she stop texting. I received four texts alone on the simple matter of the trash, which I had already read about in the manual. The female owner made two unexpected visits to the property and once knocked on the door, disturbing my sleep. The male owner of the property dropped by unannounced and twice spied through the kitchen window. Currently, we are in a contract dispute with the owners regarding the full return of our deposit. One of the many issues is that we are being billed a small fortune to recover one small seating pad of a dining room chair. It is our fault that it was stained and my son should not have tried to clean it himself, but the price is ridiculous. Plus, we were reprimanded for eating at the dining room table and using the dining room chairs without first putting "tea towels" down to protect them. We are also being billed for a pre-existing stain on a sofa. The photos of the downstairs are accurate. The photos of the upstairs are shot at an angle that does not properly portray the low-slanted ceilings. I hit my head at least twice per day and I am only 5'2". You virtually have to duck down to get dressed. In addition, though the VRBO listing states that the owner accepts credit cards and the listing includes the credit card icons, when I paid the first deposit with the credit card, the owner cancelled the payment and demanded a cash wire transfer. Furthermore, upon exiting the property, the owner requested that the non-disputed damages be paid in cash, even though she held our deposit in her possession. The property is conveniently located. There is easy and accessible public transportation. The property is quiet. The property is beautifully appointed. I have successfully used VRBO all across the world and this was the worst experience I have ever had. You could not pay me to stay there, again. 28 June 2016 - 19:53:00
