  1. An excellent starting point to see the sights. My husband & I truly enjoyed the cottage. Greeted the morning with a welcome committee of a doe and her fawns! And then we were off to see Marin county. We can highly recommend two golf courses, San Geronimo & Indian Valley, very nice courses, great conditions and reasonably priced. We did a lot of sight seeing but crashed out in the peace & quiet of the cottage. Wonderful vacation., made even better by the comforts of "home" 08 July 2014 - 02:43:35

Rusty was the perfect hostess. Frequent vrbo-ers, her cottage ranks among the best we've had. The location was unbelievable; our work commute to/fro SF were so easy. Inside, the amenities were clean, modern and all we needed. Rusty was incredibly responsive and personable. Flexible too, to accommodate a last minute extension for us. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. Thank you again Rusty! 11 October 2014 - 14:57:10

Stayed there with my wife and our 8 month old son in October. Description provided is perfect - it's a cozy one bedroom with an office that serves as a perfect 2nd bedroom for an infant. Location is great to access San Francisco, wine country, as well as the wonderful towns of Sausalito and Mill Valley. Special bonus that our stay coincided with fleet week, which we were able to enjoy both from Sausalito and from San Franscisco over the weekend. Highly recommended if you're able to make it here during that week. 27 October 2014 - 16:05:13

My family loved staying at Rusty's adorable cottage. It has an open floor plan which made it easy with our 2 year old. It had all the amenities we needed and was so perfect. We can't wait to stay again! 30 January 2015 - 16:20:40

We had a great 5 day stay in Rusty's cottage. Everything was clean and comfortable. You can walk to downtown Mill Valley from the apartment, and see lots of area sites easily from this location. We took the ferry from Sausalito to San Francisco, which was a lot of fun and allowed fantastic views of The GG Bridge, Alcatrez, and the SF skyline. The ferry goes to the beautiful Ferry Bldg, which has great gourmet food shops, and an impressive farmers market on Saturdays. 24 February 2015 - 20:20:21

This cottage was very clean and comfortable. Rusty was very responsive to all of my questions before we arrived and while we were there she was always helpful. The cottage was nicely furnished and has everything you could need for your stay. The location is fabulous. We visited family and the cottage was very convenient for them to visit and for us to visit their homes as well. We would definitely stay there again. 02 April 2015 - 12:07:32

This cottage is in a wonderful location to relax and travel as you want. The redwoods out front are lovely and the setting very relaxing. Rusty was an excellent host to work with and source of information. We enjoyed the Memorial Day parade in Mill Valley, Sausalito, Napa Valley, the Pacific coast, and San Francisco at our leisure. 03 June 2015 - 00:24:03

The clean and updated cottage was very comfortable meeting all our needs. The bed is very comfortable and the closet gave us enough room to unfold our luggage. We visited the beach, Muir Woods, Hearlsberg wineries and caught a bus a short walk from the cottage that took us right into San Francisco. Would highly recommend. 05 November 2017 - 19:34:00

This cottage is great for a couple or a single person. It is remarkably bright. It is close to all the north bay attractions - lots of hiking possibilities within a ten mile radius, plus wine country starting about 1/2 hour away. It is also close enough to the bus stop, that if you were looking to work in SF and stay just outside without using a car, it would be possible. Otherwise you will need a car. Like everything in SF, there are stairs. 17 June 2015 - 01:44:32

This lovely cottage was the perfect base for our trip to visit our son in Sausalito! Rusty and Bob were great hosts, even returning forgotten items after we left! The cottage is clean, and has all the things you might need. The furniture is very comfortable, especially the bed and the living room couch and chair! SOOO much better than a hotel! 27 June 2015 - 13:41:00

We were delighted with our experience in the cottage. We travel to the area frequently from Kauai to visit family and grandchildren. What a wonderful alternative to the hotels! At the base of gorgeous Mt. Tamalpais, but easily accessible to everything Marin and the Bay Area have to offer. We were surrounded by towering redwoods, and a huge sprinkling of wild flowers. A perfect time, with unsurpassed service from owner Rusty. We are already booking our return. 29 April 2016 - 23:56:21

My husband and I were spending a whirlwind 7 day vacation in northern California, starting with 3 days in San Francisco. Hotel and motel prices were exorbitant, and nothing really appealed to us. Then we found this cottage, which was absolutely perfect in every way. Located in Mill Valley, which is a very nice little town, near Sausalito, and only about ten minutes from the Golden Gate bridge, it was a perfect location for us. We spent our days hiking, climbing and exploring San Francisco, and were so happy to come back to this beautiful home at the end of the day. The kitchen was well-equipped, the living room was comfortable, and the king size bed was superb! When we had questions, we were able to call the owner and she was immediately responsive. This certainly started our vacation off in a wonderful way, and we highly recommend these accommodations to anyone who would like the nearness of the city during the day, and peace and tranquility at night. 24 June 2016 - 16:15:40

My boyfriend and I stayed at this cottage for 3 nights while we were in town for a friend's wedding. This was our first experience renting off VRBO and it was a hit! The location is key if you are visiting San Francisco and are looking for something close enough to make for easy travel between the city and where you are staying, yet, far enough away from the city to give you a break and FRESH AIR when you've had your fill of the city for the day. When I came to leave my review just now, I can't help but be irritated at the previous reviewer's comments regarding the exterior of the house and the TV (of all things!). The location of the cottage is off a quiet (and steep!) street that is very woodsy. One night we came home and there was a whole family of deer in the driveway! I can honestly say, I didn't take much note about the actual exterior of the cottage because I was too busy looking around and enjoying the serenity of the area. Anyway, the interior of the house was super cute, very clean, and felt like a home away from home. The bed was very comfortable and it was a really nice perk to be able to do our laundry before we left! There's also a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for your when you get there... to me, anywhere that provides you with that kind of greeting gets an "A+" in my book. Even the people on the street were friendly. One of the neighbors down the road stopped us one morning when he saw us walking our bikes down the big hill and gave us some helpful/friendly tips of the area. There are loads of brochures/menus of things to do and places to eat in the office area. We tried three places to eat which were great. Make sure to try Sol Food!! It was delicious!! My only regret about this stay was that we were so busy (and tired!) that I didn't have time to write in the guestbook about our experience and leave a few helpful hints for out of towners. * There is a bus stop less than a block away from the house. If you want to go to San Francisco (or even take the ferry from Sausalito) I highly recommend riding the bus! You'll want to look for the Golden Gate Transit Bus (route 4 I think?). We used the bus the entire time we were there - so convenient! Rusty - Thanks for sharing your place with us. It was a great experience for us! 27 October 2016 - 21:29:59

Great location! Cottage had everything we needed and Rusty promptly answered every question and provided great recommendations for things to do and see! Its a great launching point for San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma, Muir Woods, Sausalito, plenty of places to hike, and great shopping and restaurants! Mill Valley is also a nice little town for shopping and dining! 10 November 2017 - 17:23:00

we very much enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage. the bed was very comfortable and the bedroom super quiet. the well-equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare our meals, which is important for us. the good earth grocery store nearby is a big plus! we loved the location, the morning walks on the bay, and how close and easy it was to get to san francisco 29 November 2017 - 02:02:00
