The room and bathroom at Fleur's were very comfortable and even had some snacks and drinks included. The lodging was nice and the location made me feel almost like a local. Easy to reach by tram from almost anywhere (consider buying a pass). The reason my stay was so great, however, was Fleur. Fleur is an amazing host who clearly loves her city and cooks a delicious breakfast! She made great recommendations for things to do, places to eat, and how to get around. Even provided an umbrella, which I definitely used! Very responsive even before my stay, Fleur feels like a friend you didn't know you had. I would absolutely stay here again and hope to do exactly that next time I make it to Amsterdam. 01 November 2017 - 21:08:00
  2. When I bought plane tickets for Europe, and we included Amsterdam in our itinerary, I knew that I wanted to have an authentic experience from a locals perspective. I had lived in London and traveled Europe extensively in 2006/2007, including Amsterdam. When I went the first time, we stayed in an expensive hotel on one of the canal rings in the city center. It was great, but I knew if I returned, I wanted to see another side of the city. This trip was going to be unique anyways as I was traveling with my husband and my parents. The three of them had never visited Amsterdam, so luckily they were willing to take a leap of faith and agree with me on the vrbo experience I wanted. When I found Fleur, I liked that it was outside city center in a quiet neighborhood--to me that screamed local authentic experience. And with the tram only about a 7 minutes walk from Fleur's house, all of the sights, markets, restaurants, nightlife and walks were just a quick tram ride to city center. I would say it took 15/20 minutes by tram to get to Centraal Train Station from Fleurs tram stop. Being at Fleurs was more than I could have hoped for. More than all four of us could have hoped for. To be honest, it was a little nerve racking. None of us had done a home stay like this before. My husband and I were also booked to use the upstairs room with the shared bath--again a little nerve racking. However, it turned out that we didn't need to worry. Fleur, Coen and their kids were so kind, wonderful, helpful, and made Amsterdam the highlight of our trip. Every morning Fleur and her husband would serve us breakfast consisting of fresh breads, croissants, jams, meats, cheese, yogurts, butters and creams, fresh squeezed orange juice, lattes, cappuccinos and teas. Over breakfast we would discusses at length our plans for the day and receive feedback and suggestions and directions. We also just chatted like old friends do...it was so easy. We loved it there and felt at home. I would recommend this property to any of my friends visiting Amsterdam and hope one day soon, to be able to return. *If you are unable to climb many steep stairs, make sure that you book the downstairs guest suite with its own bathroom. 21 April 2014 - 20:37:48

We prefer to stay in B&Bs, agriturismos, etc. when we travel, so when my wife found Fleur d Amsterdam on homeaway.com, it looked ideal. It turns out it was. The owner, Fleur, assisted us with our pre-travel arrangements, made arrangements for us to get from/to Schiphol Airport, and once we arrived, she advised us on the best way to get around Amsterdam (multi-day tram passes), assisted with museum tickets, offered suggestions of what to see and do once she knew our schedule and preferences. The accommodations were excellent: it was like staying in a friends home (in retrospect, we were). The neighborhood was quiet and safe, and tram access to everywhere we wanted to go was just a couple of blocks away. We met Fleurs husband, two of her lovely children, the cat, the chickens, etc. If you stay here, be sure to notice the "stumble stones" on the sidewalk outside - very touching. 16 June 2014 - 13:01:28

This is a great little B&B, clean, comfortable and well maintained. It is a bit out of town so you will take the tram and then walk several blocks. The owners are great: Very nice people, excellent breakfast, museum cards and information cheerfully and accurately provided make the reasonable cost even more reasonable. I would recommend this property to ambulatory friends. 16 June 2014 - 20:00:23

My wife and I came to Holland to experience Amsterdam and maybe find my roots. With the help of Fleur we were able to accomplish both. The B&B exceeded our expectation. The use of free passes greatly reduced our costs. Fleur's knowledge of the city made our daily planning a lot easier and took the guesswork out. Our breakfast again exceeded our expectations. Great way to start the day. We heartily recommend this B&B to you. 05 September 2014 - 23:42:32

Our stay with Fleur and Coen could not have been better. Great family atmosphere made us feel at home and welcome. Room is clean and comfortable and the location is great with very easy access to the public transport system into Amsterdam. Fleur's local knowledge of attractions and restaurants is invaluable. Thanks again!! 08 September 2014 - 01:58:00

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fleur D' Amsterdam. Fleur and her family truly make you feel at home and a part of their wonderful family. The room is clean and comfortable, the breakfasts are wonderful, and the location is great with close access to the great public transportation system in Amsterdam. Fleur was so helpful with information about local sites and restaurants, it was like having a personal concierge. I would highly recommend a stay here on a visit to Amsterdam and hope to be back soon. 03 October 2014 - 17:33:22

My friend and I are in the travel industry and decided to have a short (4 day) getaway to Amsterdam. Since neither of us had been there before, we first turned to coworkers who had been there for recommendations. For various reasons, none of these recommendations panned out, so we turned to the internet. Although we don't work together or see each other on a regular basis, we both seemed to keep going back to Fleur's, so we made the reservation. From the get-go, everything Fleur did was excellent. Following her directions, we had no problems getting from Central Station on the tram to her place, settled in and she sat down with us and a map to give us her recommendations and directions. We then set out on our first day in the city, again being able to navigate with her directions and the map she provided. When we returned that evening, we found our room ready with the nicest little touches. The towel sets were topped with shampoo and shower gel, fresh flowers from her garden, as well as drinks and snacks. The bed and linens were so comfortable and we slept like babies. Our breakfasts were fabulous with fresh rolls and croissants, cheeses, meats, fresh-squeezed orange juice, cappuccino, and bacon and eggs, straight from the backyard chickens. We were always so full, it was hard to get up from the table and waddle out the door! Fleur arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport on the day we left, and despite the early, early hour, got up to say goodbye. I truly can't imagine a better stay! Since we have arrived home, we have already passed on Fleur's information and our recommendation to a number of coworkers and friends. We are already planning our next stay in Amsterdam, and will definitely be going back to Fleur's. Thank you so much for all that you did for us-you made our stay perfect! 05 October 2014 - 21:37:23

I stayed in September 2014 for a week in this lovely, cottage-like B&B. From the moment I stepped inside Fleur D' Amsterdam, I received a warm and hearty welcome from Fleur. She is excellent in taking care of you and ensuring that you are satisfied during your stay. My room with a queen size bed, lovely view, free Wi-Fi, television and facilities were very comfortable and cosy. The scrumptious breakfast every morning and a conversation with Fleur and her family made me feel at home and it was lovely to be part of the culture in Amsterdam. This B&B is situated very close to tram stops and is easy accessible from Amsterdam Central, but with the advantage of being surrounded with many locals. The free bicycle and museum card are indeed a huge bonus...it made visiting all the memorable places so easily. The best part was the special interest Fleur shows in every guest, informing them of places of interest, where the best restaurants are and where to get the best cup of coffee in Amsterdam! What makes Fleur D' Amsterdam the best B&B in the whole of Amsterdam is certainly the wonderful hospitality from Fleur and her family! Thanks for indeed walking the extra mile!! 09 February 2015 - 20:20:38

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights with Fleur in East Amsterdam. Everything that prior reviewers have said is true. Fleur goes out of her way to make you feel welcome in her home with her pets and her lovely garden and her friendly cats and brand new baby bird. The eggs and full breakfast are terrific and a must have. The museum passes get you past all the lines at the major museums and you won't believe the money you'll save. Fleur also helped us decide what to see and what to skip, and kept tabs on whether the tulips in the fields had opened. They hadn't, but we had a lot to see and do anyway. Next time, flowers and bikes. The home is in a quiet neighborhood close to the tram line. It's nice to have a place outside center city to come home to at night. We ended up walking almost everything but it surely is nice to have the tram option. We had a car with us, which is kind of like a ball and chain in Amsterdam, but Fleur directed us to the nearby P and R which ended up costing only 1 euro a day. Be aware, though, that they do not take VISA there. Bring something other than Visa along with you to Amsterdam. We had to prevail upon a kind Dutch stranger to pay for our parking and pay him back... Visa, apparently, is not "everywhere you want to be..." I will definitely stay with Fleur if I'm lucky enough to get back to Amsterdam. Thanks for a lovely time. 23 April 2015 - 15:34:41

We enjoyed the relaxed, informal atmosphere; lots of light and warmth in the breakfast room/kitchen. It's in a real neighbourhood which is quiet and yet has great amenities, not least the Italian restaurant - so reasonable - and De Kas - so amazing! swankiest greenhouse setting for the best food ever. There is vegetarian close by (though we did not try it) a delicatessen, cheese shop, supermarket and lots more in this area alone. A great base for exploring Amsterdam, even on foot. 08 May 2015 - 10:38:03

If you want to experience Amsterdam in the house of a local, this is for you! Fleur and her family were so helpful - even let me in at 8:00AM to sleep off some jet lag. She was great with her advice on what to do and how to get there. I really feel like we got the best out of Amsterdam while staying at Fleur D'Amsterdam! 13 May 2015 - 11:58:33

As with any B&B the difference good and excellent is the innkeeper. Fluer is a consumate host with genuine interest, positive attitudes, and welcoming disposition. Her advice on saving money and time will make your stay in Amsterdam a better visit. The free use of her museum cards will save you Euros both in the City and if you venture out to other sites such as the Palace Het Loo. You'll enjoy sitting in their kitchen looking out at her beautiful garden while you eat your made to order breakfast. While in a quiet neighborhood, you are only a very short walk to the Tram and buses that will get you anywhere in the city in just a few mintues. Have a great stay at Fleur de Amsterdam! 15 May 2015 - 12:52:45

We have just returned from our stay at Fleur Amsterdam and have such good good memories. Fleur and her family were so welcoming and helpful in every way. She gave us such good advice and directions as to what to see in the city as well as how to get there. We were able to sit in the garden and have our wine and cheese when we returned from our busy day exploring and Fleur's two sons and daughter were also very helpful and welcoming. Two nights there were other guests as well and we all spoke different languages but Fleur helped us all communicate and enjoy the experience. The museum passes were fantastic. The bikes were available but we never used them this time. Gives us a reason to go back and explore some more. We would definitely recommend Fleur Amsterdam to friends or relatives who want a comfortable homey experience. 20 May 2015 - 17:55:55
  16. We were lucky to get into Fleur's bed and breakfast. We were two couples travelling together and our friend's daughter joined us from England. Fleur was able to accommodate us all! My husband and I were given the best room on the main floor with a lovely ensuite. The others found rooms on the second and third floors. We had such a good time together thanks to Fleur's lovely breakfasts, her adorable pets, flowers everywhere and so much help in the sightseeing department. We only wish we could have stayed longer to visit more sights! The museum passes were great, and the location a little away from the city centre was welcome and charming. We would love to come back! 16 June 2015 - 05:33:46

I stayed at Fleurs B&B by myself and had a great time. I was visiting family that lived around the corner so the location was perfect. The B&B is very centrally located with easy access to transport. But you wont need it because you can borrow a bike and get around the way the locals do! Fleur was very welcoming with a lovely breakfast each morning with fresh bread from the bakery and a hearty meal. The room was spacious and comfortable. I was sharing a toilet but I never encountered anyone nor had to wait. Although you are in someones house you are free to come and go and be as social as you would like. Fleur gave me a museum card to use and a great suggestion of going to the Resistance museum, which we thought was great. Definitely stay here if you are thinking about it. If will make your time in Amsterdam perfect. Thanks Fleur! 17 July 2015 - 02:50:32

My husband and I stayed at Fleur's B&B in December 2013 and absolutely fell in love with this most charming city. Fleur and family were fantastic and I still think fondly about their enchanting gardens and home as well as those daily homemade breakfasts! The room was perfect and provided the comforts of home after a long day. She even allowed us to wash our clothes and let them dry above the open kitchen! We especially enjoyed the little boxes in the foyer letting us know who was home or out - neat! The B&B is very centrally located, we used the tram with pre-purchased tickets to get most everywhere, in addition to strolling the quaint neighborhoods getting lost in the beauty of the city. Fleur is the ultimate tour guide, offering wonderful suggestions and providing museum passes to most. We visited the Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank house, Van Gogh museum, Heineken Experience as well as many other fantastic breweries - our favorites being Brouwerij't IJ and de Prael. We also visited the Flea Market in the Noord which was an exciting experience! Elsa's is a MUST - take the little alley behind it to feel like a local. The staff recognized us after our first visit and were even trying to get us tickets to the match one night! I highly recommend this gem, especially considering it's located outside the tourist areas and we always felt very safe. 05 August 2015 - 21:47:50

We were looking for something outside the touristy areas... a place to make our visit to Amsterdam feel authentic... a "home" during our travels. We found this and so much more at Fleur's B&B! She emailed us easily-understood directions from Schiphol that had us take the train to Central Amsterdam, then the tram to her neighborhood -- a easy trip and really nice experience. After a warm greeting upon arrival, Fleur helped us with maps, museum passes, suggestions, and other things necessary for us to enjoy our 4-day stay there. Our room was pleasant; the en suite bathroom was modern and fine. Fleur cooked us wonderful breakfasts (eggs & bacon, fresh bakery rolls, cheeses, butter & jams, fruit, coffee/tee) and we also went out to the neighborhood place, 1900 Cafe, for a very good breakfast one morning as well. We really enjoyed eating locally in the neighborhood each evening after full days of being tourists. While Fleur's home is just outside the downtown area, she's still very much in Amsterdam, so taking the tram into the tourist/central area each day as we did was a nice experience as we passed by things that those who live here see. We would absolutely stay here again, and would recommend Fleur's place to others. 23 December 2015 - 14:54:48

My wife and I stayed here for our 20th wedding anniversary. Fleur and her family were amazing hosts that opened their friendly doors to us. Their home was just as they listed and convenient in every aspect. Her custom breakfasts were very much enjoyed and dearly missed when we got back home. We would highly recommend them for your next visit! 06 June 2016 - 22:41:28
