We have been regular travelers to Paris over the past 12 years and have stayed at a number of apartments in the 5th Arrondissement. The reservation process was seamless. Eric was quick to respond to any questions we had. This is one of the best apartments we have stayed in. The apartment description and photo's truly reflect the comfort, space and tranquility. The owner provided many travel books and an information binder which would be helpful for those unfamiliar with the area. The apartment is located on the main floor of the building across from the Seine and not far from Notre Dame. It is a perfect location to see the sites of Paris. The entrance to the building is well secured and lobby area was stylish and always very clean. As you enter the studio apartment, the openness provides a sense of spaciousness. Although there is not a separate bedroom, the design and efficient use of space made it feel open, airy and very functional. The bathroom was also efficiently laid out and equipped with modern amenities. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and very well appointed. The court yard provided us with additional living space as we enjoyed our meals while watching and listening to the birds. This was a beautifully landscaped space which was very private and one of the highlights of the apartment. This is a very unique feature in Paris. We enjoyed walking to nearby markets, shops and restaurants. The Bastille Market was the best. The owner, Eric was very welcoming and helpful. He made sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. His assistant, Alexandra greeted us upon arrival and was pleasant, helpful and also available for any questions or concerns. This apartment is perfect for two people. We would highly recommend it and definitely plan to return in the future. 06 October 2013 - 14:18:25

We enjoyed this little haven with its formal courtyard to look out on to and its small deck for breakfasting in. It was quiet and private allowing us to rest in between excursions into the joys of Paris. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen comprehensively equipped with high quality utensils & white goods. We found the lighting a little inadequate--there was 1 powerful and effective 'standard' lamp which illuminated half of the studio but the lighting in the other half was too low for our preferences; reading lamps on the bed were very good, however. The location is superb--we shopped at the Place Maubert market on Sa/T/Th; the boulangerie in BS-G provided our morning baguettes (we indulged daily!); supermarkets were nearby. The buses nearby (Lines 24/63/86/87) took us to nearly all the destinations that we wanted, (the bus service is very efficient and very reasonably priced), and neighbourhood bars/tabacs were unpretentious and pleasant places for a coffee, a wine or a meal. This corner of the 5th is not too touristy so it is possible to have conversations with residents even though so close to some of the key tourist attractions. What a treat--should we ever have the chance to visit Paris again we would want to stay at this studio. 15 October 2013 - 01:58:44

We recently stayed in the apartment for our 1 week visit to Paris in October. What a pleasant place to come "home" to after a day out. We found it ideally situated , close enough to all the main sights and yet in a quiet residential area with local cafes and grocery shops etc close by. We were able to eat in some nights finding the kitchen adequately equipped for that. We certainly would stay there again as it really helped make our holiday memorable. Just as nice as the online photos! 02 December 2013 - 10:21:19

Myself and my 2 sisters stayed at the river studio for 5 nights and it was everything we could hope for. The apartment easily accommodated the 3 of us, 2 in the queen bed and myself on the pull out couch, both very comfortable. The bathroom was large and modern, blow dryer was provided and plenty of linens for the stay. The kitchen has everything you need, only regret is we didn't make use of the wine fridge. Another wonderful feature is the garden, we did not get to use it as the weather in February was a bit chilly. The location was perfect, central and easy to find after a night out. We used The Metro without any problems to get to and from the airport, Eric met with us both upon arrival and departure, making coming and going seamless. Eric had a map of the area pointing out restaurant recommendations and boulangeries. We ate on Ile Saint Louis on two occasions, once at Aux Anysetiers Du Roy (traditional) and Mon Viele Ami (modern), I highly recommend both, easily within walking distance of the apartment. One thing to note is that the hot water tank is not as large as we are used to in North America, there was enough water for 3 showers in the morning, just don't choose to wash dishes until afterwards. This was our first time renting an apartment instead of staying in a hotel and Eric couldn't have provided a better place. The day we left we already were talking about returning. 04 January 2014 - 05:31:17

My 16 year old daughter and I closed out our 3 week European vacation by staying in this charming apartment. It was the icing on the cake for us. Upon returning from London, it was an easy walk from the station as well as to restaurants, markets, shopping and Notre Dame. We did not take a taxi once while there as metro stations are close by. The security of the apartment was excellent with a beautiful front door and foyer that was well lit and very safe. The garden patio was a perfect setting to enjoy a cup of Nespresso in the morning (thank you Eric for providing the machine in this well-stocked kitchen!) while planning our day or reminiscing about our day's events over a glass of wine in the evening. It was wonderful to sit outside in our little piece of heaven with stars shining down and having this beautiful courtyard to ourselves. We walked down to the river for a final celebration of our amazing vacation/16th birthday and took a river cruise. It was a perfect way to say goodbye to Paris with her Eiffel Tower sparkling in the background. Our trip imprinted on our soul forever and getting to stay in this charming apartment just made it all that much more special. Eric was a perfect gentlemen, prompt, efficient, and friendly. We couldn't have appreciated this apartment more and would highly recommend it. Merci beacoup Eric! 18 January 2014 - 22:38:46

Eric could not have been more helpful in welcoming us into the apartment and showing us around. This is a wonderful studio apartment, the highlight for us being the very pretty garden outside with a patio area and outside furniture - a really quiet little sanctuary where only church bells and birds (and of course the odd Parisian siren!) could be heard. Eric also helped us sort out a minor problem with the next part of our France travel which was greatly appreciated. Loved the welcome L'Occitaine toiletries, a nice touch, and the apartment had everything we needed for a weeks stay. King sized bed on the firm side for us, but not uncomfortably so; couch really comfy. Great location, would stay here again in a heartbeat. 02 July 2014 - 19:39:20

Absolutely wonderful studio in the heart of the Latin Quarter. Literally 2 blocks from Notre Dame; we could hear the bells each day. Had a wonderful picturesque garden and a quiet serenity that we did not expect to find in such a bustling city. Had everything we needed and then some. Very comfortable furniture and bed. Fully stocked kitchen which we used for meals when we didn't feel like going back out, but it is also surrounded by great restaurants! Could not ask for a better location to feel like a local but still reach any of the major sights by foot or Metro. If we ever make it back to Paris, we would absolutely refuse to stay anywhere else! Thank you so much Eric and Alexandra for an unforgettable stay! 30 July 2014 - 17:53:10

This is an outstanding apartment for two people in every respect: location, comfort, quiet, privacy, cleanliness, and convenience. The photos are accurate. The owner is helpful and accommodating. We will definitely return - if we can get a booking!! I am sure that everyone who stays there would want to go back. I only wish it could accommodate our grown children, with whom we often travel, as well. Wouldn't it be great if this owner got another, larger apartment to rent out? Note: The only reason I didn't click the box re "people with disabilities" is the size of the bathroom, which could present a challenge, depending on the disability. In every other respect, it would be great (ground floor, etc.) 05 August 2014 - 16:46:08

This apartment is as good as I hoped after reading the description on the website. It is in an excellent location: on the banks of the Seine in easy walking distance from Notre Dame, the two islands [Isle St Louis is almost at your doorstep] and lots of other places you will want to visit. It's close to buses or metro for travelling further away. At the same time it is far enough away from the heavily touristed spots for you to feel that you are living in the real Paris. The apartment is comfortable, cheerful and has everything you need. You can cook your own meals [the market in Place Maubert is conveniently close], warm up take-away delicacies from the shops on the edge of Place Maubert, or eat at one of the many cafes and restaurants close by. The deck at the edge of the garden is a special bonus, perfect for breakfast or just sitting [in Paris one doesn't sit IN the garden, one site on a deck at the edge of it!] The owner lives in the same building and is eager to make sure that you have everything you need. I travelled with a friend and we found that there was plenty of space for two - one slept on the bed, the other on the fold-out sofa. 06 August 2014 - 11:26:08

My husband and I have recently returned from our second vacation at this lovely Paris apartment. In spite of some unusually cool/rainy weather at the beginning of our stay, we enjoyed it very much. Eric, the owner is very pleasant and helpful and made the booking process smooth and easy. Alexandra, his assistant, greeted us upon arrival. She was waiting for us as planned and was very helpful and welcoming. The studio apartment is clean, bright and efficiently designed. The French doors to the courtyard and large window near the kitchen allow for lots of natural light. The high ceilings make the apartment feel larger than it actually is. The beautiful private courtyard is so special with the patio, awning, table and chairs. The landscaping is lovely. We took advantage of this space for our morning coffee, lunches made from fresh market goods, and evening wine and hors d'oeuvres. The location was ideal for us. We love to walk everywhere and found this to be quite central and of course, a few steps from the Seine. One of our favourite local markets to visit was at the Bastille Monument on Thursdays and Sundays. Not to be missed for amazing produce, baked goods, cooked meats, fresh seafood, cheeses and flowers. We thank Eric for sharing this wonderful place with us. We hope to return again! 09 August 2014 - 16:27:11

My husband & I love Paris and have stayed in a variety of hotels and apartments during our many visits over the last 40 years. La Tournelle is the best! The apartment is spacious and well layed out. There is plenty of seating and lighting, and the kitchen is fully equipped. We especially enjoyed having the nice outside area where we could sit on the deck and enjoy a drink or dinner after a long day of sightseeing. Eric is very welcoming and Alexandra was very helpful getting us settled. The location is perfect. We were able to walk to many metro stations and Notre Dame was practically right across the street! We're planning to stay there again this coming summer and can't wait! 17 November 2014 - 01:00:19

My husband and I chose this VRBO rental due to the location and the amenities. We were traveling without a car and planned to use the metro or walk everywhere. We wanted to be close to the metro as well as walking distance to restaurants, bistro's and shops. We were an 800 meter walk to the metro and the Notre Dame Cathedral. The Latin Quarter and Rue Mouffetard markets were both in walking distance. There were also a couple of small grocery stores and a boulangerie, fromagerie and wine shop within walking distance. We stopped at those several times during our stay to pick up items. We were also looking for a place we could return to after a busy morning and afternoon of sightseeing and prepare a light snack and enjoy a glass of wine before venturing out for our evening activities. The studio provided a couch, table and small kitchen that allowed us to feel more relaxed and gave us a place to retreat to after hours of sightseeing. The bed was also quite comfortable. The other notable part is that this is a ground floor rental, for those who may have issues with stairs, this would be ideal for you. Eric is a lovely host and provided all the essentials and then allowed us to enjoy the property. We would stay here again and we would recommend this place to others. 09 December 2014 - 22:20:17

This was recommended to us by friends and they were not wrong! Eric's studio apartment is in the perfect location in Paris and he is a very considerate and courteous host. We were very comfortable during our 10 day stay and it was easy to get around using the metro and buses. We were completely satisfied and would definitely stay again if the opportunity arises. 02 July 2015 - 01:19:06

The apartment is exactly as shown, on the ground floor with a beautiful garden. We stayed a little over 3 weeks and it began to feel like home. The bathroom rain shower had great water pressure. Even the hair dryer was better than the one I have in the U.S. The location is just amazing, you are practically on the Seine with a 5 minute walk from Notre Dame. There is a chocolate shop next door, then a great restaurant and next to that an amazing bakery. Tons of restaurants in the area, bus and metro convenient. The only downside we encountered was towards the end of our trip there were mosquitoes which were quite annoying. Alexandra was wonderful and answered any questions we had. Sheets and towels were supplied weekly. Any other laundry was easily done in many laudramats in the area. Would highly recommend this apartment 28 September 2017 - 07:51:00

We had the perfect week in Eric's studio which is ideally located in the middle of Paris, but just far enough away from the busier tourist areas. The garden was a delight to return to each day for a relaxing glass of wine. As the apartment was not facing the busy street it was quiet and peaceful which meant sleeping extremely well after walking many kilometers around Paris each day, a real bonus in Paris. We would certainly recommend this apartment. 28 July 2016 - 08:50:00

Eric's apartment was the ideal place for a week in Paris. We have rented five different apartments and this was definitely the best. The location was great for walking on both the right and left banks. The bed was comfortable and the shower was superior. One walks past the chocolate shop in the front of the building and opens the door. When you shut the door, you shut out all the city noise. The garden is a joy - you wake up to the sound of birds instead of cars. And Eric was a charming host. 07 July 2015 - 05:48:23

My wife and I stayed in Eric's apartment for 11 nights in March. Let me begin by saying that the apartment is absolutely tremendous in every way. The location is excellent. As you step out the door the Seine River is across the street, and Notre Dame is 500m to the left down the street. On arrival in Paris we took a taxi to the apartment where we were met by Angelina, Eric's wonderful assistant. The taxi ride took about 45 minutes in rush hour and cost a little over 50 Euros. Angelina met us at the door and toured us through the apartment. Eric stopped by later in the evening to meet us also. Both Eric and Angelina are wonderful, friendly and very courteous people. It was great to meet them. Fabulous hosts. The apartment had everything we needed. It was extremely clean, comfortable and well decorated with very nice furniture and accessories. The bed was extremely comfortable. The kitchen had everything you would need. Although we ate out most days, we did bring take out food home occasionally to heat up in the microwave. The bathroom was very modern and clean. The rain shower was excellent with lots of hot water and excellent water pressure. The apartment was everything we hoped for and more. I have recommended it to all of my friends and we will stay there every time we visit Paris. It is very deserving of 5 stars. My wife and I love to walk so we walked everywhere everday. The Louvre is 20 minutes walk. Notre Dame 5 minute walk. St. Germaine Street is one block away. It is an amazing street with many restaurants, Patisseries, and shops. The Bastille is a 15 minute walk. We also walked to the Paris Opera House and the Eiffel Tower (40 minute walk). We really enjoyed the D'orsay Museum as well as the Musee Orangerie. We also attended the Opera at the Bastille Opera House (Faust). What a great experience. The Bastille Opera House is a 15 minute to walk from the apartment. We also attended the France vs. Brazil football friendly at the 80000 seat Stade de France. It was an easy 10 minute Metro ride to the stadium. Taking the Metro in Paris is very very easy. The closest Metro station 10 minute walk from the apartment. We rode the Metro several times to various locations around Paris. My wife also took an outstanding cooking/baking class with 'Cooking With Class'. She had a fabulous time and highly recommended the class. Paris is beautiful and amazing. We had a wonderful 10 days. Eric's apartment is absolutely fabulous. 09 April 2015 - 17:18:05

My wife and I stayed for a week at the end of October and were thoroughly pleased with the space, along with the very spacious (for Paris) backyard terrace. We didn't get to meet the owner Eric, but the 'guardienne' Mme Pereira was very kind and helpful. Great mattress and a quiet environment made for great sleeping and recuperating after a lot of hoofing it around the city. Great location five minutes from Notre Dame and Shakespeare and Company. A short walk across the 'pont' to the lovely I'sle St. Louis and the funky Marais. Would stay there again in a flash, and hope to do so when we return to Paris two years from now. 31 October 2017 - 22:42:00
