Our home is a typical row house (zoned R6B), making us exempt from NY short-term rental laws. Subway proximity is the highest priority for New Yorkers. The L TRAIN (Lorimer St.) to Manhattan is ONE MINUTE WALK from our home at the corner at Union/Metropolitan. As is the G TRAIN (Metropolitan Ave) to downtown Brooklyn/Queens Our townhouse has WIFI and is perfectly situated on a quiet residential street in Brooklyn's hippest neighborhood: Williamsburg. The area is packed with great restaurants, bars, deli's, bakeries and vintage stores. Nearby is McCarren Park, The Knitting Factory, and Union Pool. On our block alone: Chimu, a Peruvian steak house, M Noodle, Kings County Chinese (nouveau), Setti Pane Bakery. French, Japanese, Southern BBQ, Italian all a short walk away. As is the new Apple Store on Bedford Ave. The neighborhood is also a magnet for young people moving to the city and an influential hub for indie rock, hipster culture, and the local art community. We regularly host parents from all over the world who are visiting their children and grandchildren. Union Square/14st St in Manhattan is 7 minutes on the subway. We are 20 minutes from downtown Manhattan and to Times Square. Closer still to the West and East Village, Soho, Tribeca, Union Square and 5th Ave via the popular L TRAIN subway line: One minute from our townhouse and then a 5 minute ride into Manhattan. This is a private apartment with a private entrance. The spacious living room is open to the kitchen & dining area so there's plenty of light and air. The rear windows both lookout into the private garden in the backyard. The front windows look onto the street and front garden. The apartment can accommodate up to four guests: The bedroom has a queen bed which sleeps 2. There is also a queen size self-inflating AeroBed that self-inflates in 1 minute and deflates just as quickly. While this isn't a traditional mattress is extremely comfortable. The entire apartment has new furnishings, linens and a fully-stocked kitchen. A perfect home base for your trip to New York City. Owners live on site, in a separate residence. My sister and I stayed in the Parlor Apartment when we visited my daughter in Brooklyn. We were so impressed with the location and condition of the apartment. The owner was extremely helpful and prompt before, during and after our stay. We were able to walk to some fabulous restaurants and the subway to Manhattan was so convenient. I hope to be staying here again in the near future. 31 May 2011 - 02:33:50

I rented the Parlor apartment for 4 nights in march. It was cold in NY but the apartment was warm and comfortable. It is beautifully decorated and is perfectly located for a city break. I had never stayed in Brooklyn before and the location is excellent. Practically everything you need is just around the corner, shopping, dining and subway. I always felt comfortable and secure, even when traveling alone and after my two sisters joined me, there was plenty of room for all of us. Thanks Brad and Sean for all the suggestions for shopping and dining and for making my stay so enjoyable. 30 May 2011 - 16:55:25

We stayed in this apartment in April 2011 for 3 nights. The location was so convenient being just over the river in Brooklyn and within a stone's throw of the subway. The property was very clean and well maintained although we didn't try to cook any meals in the kitchen (who wants to cook when you have NYC food at your fingertips??). Brad left a notebook in the apartment that listed restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc that he recommended. Although we were only there for 3 days, we filled up a punch card (and our suit cases with whole coffee beans) at Gimme Coffee which was based on Brad's recommendation. The air mattress was so comfortable that we all wanted it and had to flip a coin to see who had to sleep in the bedroom on the queen bed. I would recommend this place to others without hesitation and we already have another weekend booked in August. This is definitely are new NYC home away from home for the next 3 years while our daughter is attending NYU. 28 June 2011 - 04:07:05

We spent three delightful nights in this very accommodating apt -- our only complaint was lack of a hair dryer, which they promptly corrected! Everything worked, was clean, the landlords were available as needed and VERY nice. Nice bed, quiet, close to the subway, it suited us perfectly. GREAT coffee shop (Variety Coffee) nearby 26 June 2011 - 14:29:14

Stayed here in Jan '11, and it was really a nice place, perfect location, subway just around the corner (10 min to Manhattan), and it was clean, modern, and all the amenities you could wish for ! The photos you see in the add, is actually how it looks ! I would recommend this place to anyone ! Not my last stay ! 03 September 2011 - 15:30:01

05 March 2012 - 20:03:09

My daughters and I stayed in the Parlor Apartment over Easter and it was a perfect location. We enjoyed at that Manhattan had to offer without the higher price of staying there. This apartment is a block from the L subway line with a great bakery on the way. We felt very comfortable and safe (2 key entry doors before our apartment door). My daughters said the queen bed was comfortable and I enjoyed the aero blow up bed. I would highly recommend this apartment. 05 September 2012 - 21:57:45

Eight perfect days with a very friendly and always available Sean. Good appartment in a not better possible location, we enjoyed our stay in NY and our stay in Parlor. We'll be happy to come again here and of course we'll recommend it to our friends. 11 September 2012 - 18:35:55

As promised, this apartment is steps to the Lorimer St. subway station and surrounded by great restaurants and bars. Gritty, trendy, hipster Brooklyn was a lot of fun to stay in. Super close to Manhattan by subway. The apartment was clean and spacious. Comfortable bed and adequate kitchen supplies. Our two complaints: no one ever checked on us the entire week we were there. No one took out the trash or offered a change of towels. A personal touch might have been nice considering we paid over $200 a night. Figuring out the TV was a challenge as there were no listings available. THe DVD player does not work. 05 January 2013 - 22:19:17

Sean and Brad have 3 apartments for rental in this Brooklyn property, a stone's throw from the L train into Manhattan. We stayed in the second floor apt (in the UK, this would be called the first floor!) which had easy access from street, spacious lounge, spacious bedroom, well-equipped kitchen/diner, and bathroom with bath. As independent travellers, we appreciated them giving us our space, and tho nice to chat with them when we ran into them on the street, we were in and out all day and felt very flexible. If we'd had a problem, which we didn't, we'd have known just where to find them - in their apartment round the back! There are loads of shops, restaurants and nightlife nearby and they left a very full pack of info about all of them - we made full use of that! There's a diner on the nearest corner that we made good use of, and though the local health food store was on the pricey side, it was cheap enough to buy basics. It's a very quiet street so easy to sleep. There's a TV which gets a good selection of channels. This is an ideal place for anyone who wants a comfortable bolthole from which to explore all of New York's boroughs. 23 June 2013 - 15:17:00

Our family of 3 stayed 5 nights in the Parlor apartment. The location just a block away from the L train was so convenient to our travels in Manhattan and Brooklyn! We had everything we needed, so didn't need to ask the owners for anything extra. :) Plenty of restaurants and groceries within a couple block radius. Thanks Sean and Brad. I would definitely recommend this property to others. 11 July 2013 - 22:57:04

We had a great time during our stay last weekend at the Parlor apartment. As far as a location it could not have been more convenient to everything we were interested in. The apartment itself is well suited to a short term traveler's needs. There are plenty of towels, lots of space to move about, a well supplied kitchen and the air conditioners worked well for that size unit. If we were going to return to the area we would hope this place was available for the dates we needed. Super value! 31 July 2013 - 16:30:31

My daughter and I stayed at the Parlor appt on Labour day weekend and we loved it. It was exactly like the pictures. The bed was confortable and thank you for having air condionning...it was really hot that weekend. We came by car from Montral and we did noy have to use the car once. Parking was great just in front. We walked and visited Williamsberg...went to a nice little restaurant called ''Meatballs''. So many things to see and the night life is great. We also walked to Atlantic ave for some shopping,Barclay's Center, Park Slope, Prospect Park ( just beautiful )and took the subway just on the corner to go and see Chelsea 's Market & the highline....from there to Wall Street and walked accross the Brooklyn Bridge back into Brooklyn. Everything was great. I do recommend a really good restaurant '' Gwynneth'' for fine dining, on Graham ave in Williamsberg. I would love to come back to Williamsberg in a few years with all the renovations going on this place will be fantastic. The only thing missing were glasses of wine, there was only one...also loved your backyard and what you did with the place very inviting...sorry we did not get a chance to meet. Thanks for everything Liane & Janik from St Bruno Qc. 14 September 2013 - 13:29:41

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for 8 nights while visiting NYC/Brooklyn. The apartment is spacious and was very comfortable. We had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The owners were next door if we did need anything additional. They were very approachable. The location was great. Next to a very busy intersection but our street was quiet. It was a family oriented neighbourhood with two grocery stores just around the corner. It was easy to get into the city with the subway just around the corner as well. We would stay here again if visiting Brooklyn in the future. 27 May 2015 - 19:13:16

We stayed four nights, late October 2016 occupying the Parlor and Garden units, first and second floor respectively. The apartments were in excellent condition, sober decor, ample space; linens were super soft, powerful shower, strong WiFi, you name it, hands down one of the best places I've stayed. The location was half a block away from the Lorimer train station, "L" line, going straight to Manhattan. Williamsburg has a fantastic night life as well and this location is in the midst of it all. The hosts were great from the first discussions, throughout the stay and afterwards. I strongly recommend this place. Looking forward to my next trip. 26 October 2016 - 15:14:01

03 November 2017 - 13:19:00

Sean and Brad were outstanding hosts! The Parlor was spacious; bigger than anything I've stayed in in NYC for the price. Its an excellent value. The photos don't really do it justice. The hosts are also great communicators. They respond quickly and are very helpful The house is also located mere steps from the Lorimer St Station that puts you only a few minutes away from Manhattan. Its centrally located to great food, bars and entertainment. Lastly and most importantly, the place is CLEAN and comfortable. The A/Cs keep it cool. The bed and couch are comfy. Sean and Brad provided a really nice air mattress to help accommodate us. All around, excellent accommodations. I would highly recommend staying here! 05 November 2017 - 16:05:00

Highly recommend this apartment - great location, clean and comfortable. The apartment itself is very spacious, plenty of room to spread out. There is a grocery store just around the corner and many restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity. It was surprisingly pretty quiet over the weekend (for NY) as we slept with the windows open a bit. Super comfortable bed and bedding! Overall a fantastic place to stay while visiting NYC - and a great value as well. 11 April 2017 - 02:22:00

We were lucky to stay in the Parlor apartment for 9 nights, then upstairs apartment for 3 additional nights. I chose the location primarily because my son and wife live in Williamsburg about 4 blocks away. Was very convenient to them and also to the L & G trains for sight seeing and all. We took a Lyft to and from the airport and then used the subway the whole time. Had a marvelous time in both Brooklyn and Manhattan, my first visit. Lots of good restaurants and bars close by. Sean was very easy to work with, good host. Thanks so much to Sean and Brad! 20 May 2017 - 23:51:00

Great location near the subway lines and many fun places to eat and drink. Spacious by New York standards with great owners who live in a separate residence on the property. Coffee maker with coffee was a real plus to get going in the morning. Stop at the Kellogg diner a block away! You will enjoy you stay! 21 January 2018 - 13:36:00
