About listing

This charming and comfortable little studio is centrally located in downtown Manhattan on 3rd Ave. and 5th St. which is just where Greenwich Village proper (the West Village) and the East Village come together. It's a 10 minute walk to Washington Sq. Park (right in the middle of the West Village), to Tompkins Sq. Park (right in the middle of the East Village), to Union Sq. Park (where there's a wonderful farmers' market 4 days a week), to Chinatown, or to Soho. Both the east and the west side subways are just minutes from the front door. This is a private guest studio which is part of but separated from the rest of a large floor-thru apartment. It has its own private entrance from the public hallway and its own private bathroom. It comes with a small refrigerator, a coffee-maker, an electric kettle, a toaster, and a microwave --- but there are no other cooking facilities. There's a nice 24 hour diner just one block away, as well as numerous other restaurants and stores (several of them also open 24 hours) in the immediate area.

My daughter and I stayed in this apartment for a week. It was a great experience! Dealing with Katharine during the planning process was so easy and she was a lovely hostess. The location was super- we could walk to many of the places we wanted to visit and there were two subway lines within a five minute walk. There were also numerous restaurants very nearby. The apartment was very clean and welcoming and it had everything we needed to make a quick breakfast before we started our day. We felt very safe and secure in the apartment and the neighborhood- even when we were walking from the subway later at night. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting the city! 02 March 2015 - 22:58:04

We stayed at Katharines for 2 weeks at the beginning of December. We now have a favourite place to return to whenever were in NYC! The studio was wonderful. Exactly as described and shown in photos. What isnt shown or described is the professionalism and warmth Katharine provides. Complete privacy, but on-hand if you need anything. I knocked out the power in the apartment while there and she was incredibly gracious and kind. I stress that there was no issue with electrics in the apartment. Communication before arriving was also very prompt and detailed. Extra towels, blankets, pillows and heaters if needed, and tea and coffee provided. The position is superb, with 2 Subway lines nearby, as well as St Marks Place, Bleeker St, restaurants, cafes and bars. We had the best time, and that was so much in part due to the great find of Katharines. 26 December 2016 - 10:22:50

Katharine was the perfect host. This quaint little apartment had everything that I needed for my stay. It was a beaut location, just about everything that I required was within walking distance & Union Square train station was only a 7-10 min walk away. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone who is travelling for only a short or extended stay, I was stayed there approx. 1 month. I cannot wait to return!! Thanks Katharine for allowing me to stay in your awesome apartment. I had the best time! Brooke - Sydney, Australia 22 August 2016 - 13:37:48

This was our first experience with HomeAway and couldn't be any more positive. I'd spent a good bit of time in NYC, but always near Central Park or Times Square. You have 2 subway stations within a few blocks. Herald Square is only 5 stops away. The buses run in front of the building and go south to City Hall or north to Harlem. The food in the neighborhood is wonderful. A walk around the block to 2nd offers you anything you want and is much more affordable than anything I'd ever experienced in over 35 years of visiting Manhattan. You have a view of the Village Voice out of your front window. Katharine is an amazing host and so gracious. She is the type of neighbor everyone hopes to get. You have quick access to everything, but without the constant city noice. This was my first NY visit without using taxis. We did take an Uber back from Little Italy because it was raining. Staying in Katharine's studio will be my first choice for Amy future visits. We only wish we could rate higher than 5 stars. 28 March 2017 - 12:12:00

I stayed in this lovely little studio for 4 days in March and again for 2 weeks in July. It's as clean and comfortable as a nice hotel but with much more charm (and history, if you're interested in that) and for only a fraction of the price. It's excellently located with dozens of things to see and do within walking distance. Public transportation to just about any place in the city is also right there. Katharine, the owner, was helpful and informative and a pleasure to do business with in every way straight through from first emails to final check-out. All in all a great deal and a fabulous find. 29 September 2015 - 21:16:33

Excellent communication with Katy between booking and arrival, and she was available 24/7 for any queries. The flat was great - clean, double bed and single inflatable if required, and plenty of room. There are loads of places to eat and drink in the neighbourhood which was much more interesting than staying in a hotel. And subway stations were within easy walking distance. Great value flat in an historic building and non-touristy area. Recommended! 01 May 2016 - 09:39:38
