Located on East 62nd Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue, the Madison Suite sits on the 3rd floor of the 5-story 19th century Upper East Side Townhouse. There is no elevator. The fully furnished 4-room, convertible 3-bedroom NYC home extends to nearly 1000 SF, is plenty spacious and loaded with turn-of-the-century charm. The apartment’s airy expansiveness is further enhanced by the approximately 10 foot ceilings and parquet¬-style hardwood floors, both of which extend throughout the suite. Two marble fireplaces, sure to draw the eye in and give perspective to the spacious suite, are found: one in the larger rear bedroom and one near the front, dividing the sitting area from the queen bed there. With it’s location 3 flights above the house’s main ground floor entry hall, the apartment will reward you with two high-perched but radically diverging views, from the front and the back of this full-floor suite. The sitting area of this space gives plenty of room for family and friends, with a sofa, coffee table, antique armoire and two padded armchairs. Original crown moldings, window frames and baseboards are intact; high ceilings, hardwood floors; Panasonic 26" 720p LCD HDTV with iPod Dock. The room has two windows to East 62nd Street, and a marble fireplace mantle, adding old New York charm. Several large French reproduction prints, of Toulouse¬ Lautrec and others, add a little more to the brightness and elegance of the front space, which would itself constitute a fairly sizable Manhattan studio apartment. Opposite the sitting area, the room features a beautiful antique iron queen bed (sleeps 2). Located at the back end of the house, is a large bedroom which offers a queen bed (sleeps 2) and also includes several antique Irish pine pieces: a tall linen press, a cricket table, a chest of drawers, a blanket chest, and two nightstands. In this bedroom there are two windows facing the garden and a fireplace with a marble mantle. At the same end of the apartment is a small bedroom with twin bed (sleeps 1). It's one window faces the garden side of the townhouse. All beds are U.S. Standard size beds. *Please note that the apartments 2 fireplaces may not be used. There is one full bathroom, comprising a tub/shower, WC, and sink. The kitchen is located just off the front room of the apartment and contains a windowed dining nook area with a round table and chairs. The dining nook, offering that picturesque northern view accompanying morning coffee or dining, has a convincing claim on the most delightful eating spot in the building, and it’s no shoo¬-in contest! The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need to cook and enjoy your simple homemade meals: a stove, oven, fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster oven and dishwasher. Pots, Pans, Cups, Utensils & Plates. The apartment includes TV & WiFi Internet. Air Conditioning in each room. Extras included such as hair dryer, iron and ironing board. 100% cotton linens, towels, quilts, down blankets and down pillows provided. Housekeeping is an additional $50-$75 per week for changing linens, towels and general cleaning. The Brownstone is situated in the much sought after LENOX HILL neighborhood of the Historic Upper East side section of Manhattan and a short walk to CENTRAL PARK and some of New York's finest shopping districts. The House's location, a quiet residential enclave for some of New York's most prestigious addresses, enjoys the best of both worlds – serene privacy and un-matched convenience. The neighborhood abounds with tasteful, exclusive boutiques and charming, international restaurants. Yet, the house is only three blocks from bustling Midtown and some of the City's fabulous and world renown Museums & galleries including the Frick, The Metropolitan and MoMa. The beautiful brownstone building is conveniently located within walking distance to the Met, Carnegie Hall, the Frick Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, Central Park Zoo & the Ice Skating Rink, Rockefeller Center. Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts is a quick 12-minute Uber ride just across the Park or to TIMES SQUARE by Taxi or subway. We are in a perfect location for NYC Marathon Runners - as we are very close to the finish line! The East River Esplanade is approximately a 25 minute walk. Shopping is plentiful including Bloomingdales, Barney's, Bendel's and Bergdorf-Goodman. We are one avenue away from Madison Avenue's most select and high end boutiques. Urban conveniences make living here a breeze, and there are basic living facilities and shops within walking distance, including Whole Foods Market, Duane Reade Pharmacy, a shoe repair, dry cleaners, nail salons, hair salons, Starbucks and much more. Public transportation around NYC is made easy from this location. Consider using the subway station at 60th Street / Lexington Avenue, which serves the 4, 5, 6, N, Q, R trains and F train on 63rd Street (all servicing up and downtown) (express and local). The house is a five minute walk to Central Park and Fifth Avenue, 12 minutes to Times Square by Taxi and 11-14 minutes by subway; Grand Central Station is one subway stop away (take the 4 or 5 one stop from 59th street to Grand Central Station); walking distance to Fifth Avenue and Midtown East with its ubiquitous Corporate Offices as well as midtown Manhattan's exclusive Decoration & Design building (D&D building) and Manhattan Art and Antiques Center. Architects, Designers and Collectors from around the world travel to this area for its concentration of design and home furnishings showrooms and galleries. The country's best hospitals and medical facilities including Memorial Sloan Kettering, Weill Cornell Medical College, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, New York-Presbyterian hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, the Hospital for Special Surgery and Mount Sinai Hospital are ideally located minutes away from the house. MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT = 10 YEARS: 1871 House is a converted 146 year old Brownstone. In that it is an historic building constructed in the year 1871 there is no elevator and all suites are accessed by our central open staircase. Regretfully, this feature (the house's unenclosed staircase) makes it unsafe for young children under 10 years of age to stay in the house.   1. My wife and I flew into NYC from Australia and arrived late on 15th June, our son joined us from San Francisco, so even late were were able to get access. The accommodation worked well and the well equiped kitchen was a great advantage. The location on E 62nd Street was ideal from which to explore NYC. The staff were helpful, but, unobtrusive.     Absolutely beautiful!! My girlfriends and stayed in the Madison Suite for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. Full kitchen, comfortable beds, entire apartment was spotless, the block was breathtaking!! Great quiet neighborhood located close to the park and access to anywhere in the city. Quiet and relaxing, after our fun filled days. Lorraine was amazing!! The quaint historic brownstone was awesome!!!!! Will definately be back!! 08 September 2016 - 20:55:39
  3. 1871 is the ideal 'residence', the ideal place to stay, for anyone visiting NYC. My wife and a friend had a short but delightful stay there, with everything provided in their Suite and with complete privacy, and in a fantastic location for anything anyone might want to do or see.
