About listing

Quick and easy travel to London without the expense and congestion of a central location! Our home away from home is a clean, roomy and comfortable two-bedroom flat with separate living and dining areas, a fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, and free high speed wireless internet. There is a new flat screen HD TV that receives over 100 channels, and a 'multi-region' DVD player that will play your DVDs, no matter where they are from. Our DVD collection includes many movies with an English theme. We are located in a quiet SE London suburb, facing a lovely park and surrounded by Victorian houses. An easy three minute walk leads to the rail station, where frequent trains take you to Victoria Station in central London in just 18 minutes. From Victoria there are extensive Underground links to virtually anywhere in the city. An inexpensive “day travelcard” pays for the round trip train ride to London and also allows unlimited travel on the Underground and on all buses. A short walk from the flat brings you to grocery stores, restaurants, and pubs. Why is the price so low? Apartments like this in the city center typically rent for substantially more than what we are charging. So why is ours so much less? Though we actually prefer living a bit outside the hassle of central London, many tourists want to be right in the thick of things. So our fees are considerably less in part to make up for the 18-minute train ride to the city. Secondly, the decor and furnishings are traditionally British, not upscale and touristy. And the common areas aren't plush--the stairs aren’t carpeted, there is no elevator, and at the entrance you'll be greeted by recycle bins rather than a doorman! When we travel in Europe we always seek 'value apartments' like ours--we’re looking to rent our flat to like-minded people who appreciate a clean, comfortable and very well-equipped place to stay as a base for exploring London but don't require upscale, luxurious accommodations. We're one floor up Note that the flat is on the 'first floor,' that is, one floor up from the ground level. There is no elevator so you must be prepared to walk up a flight of stairs with your luggage. We maintain a strict no-smoking policy.. Keywords: Apartment

We've just finished a 5-night stay in this flat and loved it! I can't imagine you could do better anywhere near London! The flat is just 5 minutes from the light rail station and you can make it into London in less than 20 minutes! Everything flows together in the flat - so if you're in the kitchen you can talk to folks in the dining area, etc- which is so handy! Another plus is that although there is only 1 bathroom, the toilet and shower are in two separate rooms, greatly increasing their usefulness. The owner provided every possible bit of information we needed to enjoy our stay - transportation routes, stores, ATM locations, etc. There is absolutely NO question - if we go back to London, we'll stay here! 30 August 2008 - 21:12:31

I recently stayed at the flat with a family member, and our visit was very pleasant. Everything was in perfect working order--clean, orderly, and comfortable--and the building was very quiet on the nights we were there. It truly is a short walk to the train to London but a fairly short drive to London as well. We drove into the city over the weekend but used the train on weekdays and found it quick and convenient (the train runs frequently, so if you miss one, there's usually not too long a wait for another). On a previous trip to England, I stayed at hotels and B&Bs. I definitely preferred the experience of staying in this flat--much homier and in a residential neighborhood rather than an urban setting, so one gets a taste, however small, of life in a UK neighborhood. I'd like to add that the flat owner was attentive and helpful. We soon came to appreciate his detailed guide to the flat and to getting around London. I highly recommend that others contemplating a visit to London consider staying at this flat. 30 October 2008 - 20:45:42

My family of three (our daughter is 10) stayed at the flat in November. For such avid London sightseeing tourists as ourselves, it was a perfect temporary home: quiet and comfortable, only 18 minutes by train to Victoria Station, a grocery store within a walking distance, detailed and helpful owner's advices, and inexpensive. Quite a rare combination for London! 09 December 2008 - 21:03:17

We stayed at this charming flat during our recent trip to London and loved everything about it! Its located in a nice quiet neighborhood within a short train ride to Victoria station in London. We bought a 7 day travel card for zones 1-4 and enjoyed exploring London every day. The flat is clean, cozy, and inviting, with comfortable beds, a fully-equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi, and an excellent collection of tour books and maps. Theres a nice park across the street and a mini-mart and a supermarket within a short walking distance from the flat. The owners provided a very helpful up-to-date guide to the flat and the neighborhood, with links to useful websites about attractions, tickets, transportation, etc. We enjoyed our trip and our stay at the flat and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting London! 09 June 2009 - 14:39:36

We rented this adorable flat from May 19-May 23, 2010, and were very pleased. The location is perfect as it is away from the busy city of London and in a very quiet neighborhood. The short two block walk from the train station is also very convenient, and you can arrive at Victoria Station in London in 20 minutes or less. We stayed in the flat with another couple and there was plenty of room as it has two bedrooms. It is very homey and comfortable, and we would not hesitate to rent it again and suggest it to friends as well. The Kleins were wonderful to work with as we had many questions about London and the surrounding area. The flat guide was so helpful and answered all of our questions. It also was convenient for us to send a check to the Kleins for the deposit and balance of the rent, as we live in the US as well. The little town of Penge is a short walk from the flat and we enjoyed having dinner there twice at the local fish and chip resturant. The grocery stores are also located nearby and we found everything quite easily. We stayed here for a five days before going to Dover to catch our cruise, and it was very easy to take the train to Dover from Kent House Station with only one change in Bromley. We were very pleased with the flat and the cost of the rental. 11 June 2010 - 20:11:38

This flat is a retreat after a long day of touring in the city. The neighborhood is lovely with a park across the street. We enjoyed our stay for four nights and it was so convenient to the train station. The owners Flat Guide is excellent and provides great details to get to the home, use things in the flat, find the grocery store or restaurants (within walking distance), etc. We had two couples and we were quite comfortable. We fixed our breakfast each morning before taking off for the city. It was also very convenient for our last morning to take the train to Dover to get on our cruise. The gal at the Kent House Station was most helpful in guiding us on that train trip. I highly recommend this flat! 12 June 2010 - 04:18:25
  8. We stayed at this flat during our recent trip to London and loved everything about it! Its located in a nice quiet neighborhood within a short train ride to Victoria station in London. This gives you a taste of a true English suburb, while still being very close to the city. The owners provided a great up-to-date guide to the flat and the neighborhood, with links to useful websites about attractions, tickets, transportation, etc. There is also a full kitchen which allows you the chance to stay home and cook your meals if you chose. We enjoyed our trip and our stay at the flat and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting London! 30 June 2010 - 00:39:14

This flat is about 20 min from Victoria Station by train so was very convenient. It was great to be away from the bustle of the city! We were there just before the wedding and London was crazy. The flat was very quiet and easy to get to. We were able to take a couple day trips easily from this location. The "flat guide" that was provided was excellent, gave a lot of information re local area and getting around London. And detailed instruction on operating things in the flat. the flat itself was very homey w/2 bedrooms and room to relax. We did not use the kitchen much, just ate a light breakfast before we left for the day but everything was there if you are moved to cook. Lots of books, DVDs available, too. Wish we had more time there, would definately use again if visiting London area. 15 May 2011 - 16:39:04

I traveled to the UK with my two boys aged 9 and 17 and Ringwold Close served as the perfect base for the numerous day trips we took out of London. Ken and Annie are outstanding hosts and from the moment of booking both the quality and timeliness of the communications were beyond 5 star. Their home is clean, conveniently located to grocery and other services and well equipped. We felt right at home and the kids were particularly pleased with the large flat screen tv and wi-fi access. The beds were very comfortable and there was more than ample wardrobe storage for everyone. The apartment was cozy without begin cramped and homey without it feeling too much like someone elses house. The information that Ken provided to us in advance of our arrival was so helpful and I was able to pretty proficiently navigate myself, 2 kids and 6 pieces of luggage from Heathrow to Ringwold Close using a combination of the Airport Express train and tube in just about 90 minutes which I was pretty pleased with. We had a really great experience booking with this couple and are hoping to return next year. We would certainly recommend staying there to others. Thanks again for being such a wonderful host Ken! 07 July 2011 - 17:01:48

This flat was very well described and we found it to be exactly what we expected. It is clean, in good condition, and in a quiet location. The owner has a fantastic guide to the flat that is informative on a wide range of local "how to" topics beyond the flat itself. The location is about 3 minutes from a train station which takes you to Victoria station in 18 minutes. If you have ever stayed in a London hotel, you will appreciate how much room you have in the flat. It was so nice to have a refrigerator, washer/dryer, and wireless internet. The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed eating at a full size table. The owner provided excellent customer service and we would definitely recommend this flat to others. 16 July 2011 - 01:49:40

Our family of four, 2 adults and 2 teenagers, stayed at this location for over a week in early July and we found it suited our needs perfectly. It is spacious, clean, with very comfortable beds, and all the amenities one would find in a regular home such as washer/dryer. We especially loved the fully equipped kitchen where we cooked many evening meals. We found that the food available in regular supermarkets in London is far superior than what you find in regular markets in the states. The cheeses, meats, vegetables and fruits were very reasonable and making an excellent meal was far cheaper and better than what we could afford in London. The area is very safe and close to the trains. All in all, the description is true to the reality. But perhaps the best part are the landlords because they are a pleasure to deal with and even called us in London to make sure everything was up to par. Highly recommend it and would go back in a heartbeat. 05 September 2011 - 21:58:00

My wife and I stayed here in July of 2012 and could not have been more pleased. The apartment is a 4 minute walk and a 17 minute train ride into London, Victoria Station. This was a great time to get organized at the start of a day or read the paper on the train ride home each day. We were able to buy groceries at a local store and ate breakfast in the apartment each morning before we left. The local town was great for evening walks, eating out, ordering in, and experiencing a suburb of London. The owner provides a guide with every ounce of information an individual could need. We would stay here again in a second! 01 August 2012 - 19:49:23

We had a wonderfull time at the flat. The pictures displayed are accurate and we received a very complete and helpfull description on how to get to the flat and around in London. Thank's again for the very good guide! The flat was a very good starting point for us to see London. 11 May 2014 - 17:09:14

During our time in London we stayed two weeks at this beautiful apartment and I can warmly recommend it to any vacationer who is planning to visit London. First of all, it was very tidy and clean. You could not find any dirt or dust in the kitchen, bathroom, beedrom etc. Secondly, the location of the flat is just awesome. It is located in an quiet and safe area so you won't wake up due to traffic noise or loud partys. It is also very close to the Kent House Station which will get you to London Victoria Station in no time from where you can travel to most of the sights by tube. Lots of grocery stores and restaurants are very close as well. Another good aspect about the location is that there are lots of free parking spots so if you are renting a car as we did you should definitly pick this apartment since parking spots in London are very rare (and expensive). Furthermore, you get a so called "Flat Guide" which contains lots of information about how things work in the apartment but which also offers wise advises especially for people who have never been to London before. The size of the flat is remarkable, too because it offers enough space for four person with its large beds, kitchen and living room. All in all, it was a wonderful experience staying in this flat especially since the owner is such an friendly and kind person who always stayed in touch with us and informed us about all important things. You will rarely find such a clean, budget, well-located as well as big apartment in London again. 12 July 2014 - 19:43:44

We stayed for ten days and really enjoyed the flat. The four of us fit perfectly with plenty of room to spare. Arrangements were very easily coordinated with the owners, and we really felt we received good value for our money. If you are planning a visit to London, this flat, with access to a train about a block away, provides a lovely home-base. We fixed our own breakfasts, traveled into London or around SE and NE England, had a later lunch at a pub, and then went back "home" to relax and have a drink. We couldn't have been happier with our visit. Thank you! 06 November 2014 - 22:00:53

We are a family of 4, with 2 kids and we spent a wonderful week in this apartment. Everything was in line with the announcement. The apartment is quiet, very well equipped, with clear and precise instructions, very clean and the owner is very nice and helping. The train station is nearby and access to London very easy. Everything was perfect. We highly recommend this apartment and we'll come back for another stay. 08 January 2015 - 09:44:55

I recently stayed in this cozy two bedroom flat with my two sons for close to 8 weeks beginning In late October of 2015. We could not have imagined staying in a more peaceful and secure offering for our London adventure. The flat is just a three minute walk to Kent House Station where every 15 minutes a train brings you to Victoria Station in just 20 minutes. New Beckenham Station is just a 9 minute walk and brings you to London Bridge. The flat delivers all the comforts of home in a very traditional English fashion, and the owner is remarkably attentive. It's quite quiet and welcoming once inside. The owner doesn't live nearby, but has a very responsible nearby contact who was prompt in her assistance at getting us into the flat. There was also a very detailed information document with all of the pertinent need to know items clearly and concisely described. I can't say enough about how happy we were with this flat. We bought our groceries in nearby Penge at just an 8 minute walk. The flat was a wonderful place to rest after a day exploring London. There is a good sized flat screen TV with plenty of channels, and the kitchen is very well stocked. We won't hesitate to stay here again when we return. It was perfect for us. The owner couldn't have been more professional and courteous. I highly recommend this flat for all who wish to see London with ease, but without the excessive cost of being downtown. 25 January 2016 - 07:22:35

This is a wonderful site for visitors to London! We stayed here for two months in 2015 and also in 2013. We love this very quiet, comfortable flat in a pleasant residential suburb, with a small park right across the street. There is a train station a 5-minute walk from the flat, where you can catch a train to central London, a 20-minute ride. The owners provide a very helpful guide with, along with instructions for how everything in the flat works, numerous suggestions for local restaurants and nearby shopping. We have always found the owners easy and delightful to deal with. We are certainly looking forward to staying here again. 29 January 2016 - 13:56:44

This flat was perfect for our stay. Plenty of room for all of us to relax before and after exploring the city; much better that a hotel room and less pricey. The owner provides a very detailed guide with instructions about how to operate everything in the flat, plus directions and recommendations for where to go and what to do in and around the area. Very nice suburban neighborhood; easy and safe for walking. We loved the Moon and Stars... family-friendly, good food and more affordable than the pubs in the city. The train station is a just a block away with a short ride into Victoria station. We'll definitely stay here again if we make it back to London! 28 March 2017 - 20:30:00
