PLEASE PRESS THE 'CONTACT THE OWNER' BUTTON BEFORE REQUESTING TO BOOK. Enjoy exclusive Michael Drive, the 'Upper West Side' of Sonoma. The property backs to an old hand stacked, moss covered rock wall adjacent to Hanzell Winery natural forest. Once you are in the drive way you will begin to feel tucked in amongst the oaks, manzanita and madrone trees, with a sense of privacy and quite you will certainly enjoy. It becomes complete once you are in the house looking out from any window or on the deck from any vantage point. This beautiful custom home is conveniently located only two miles from the Sonoma Plaza, but up this hill you have all the quite and serenity one could want in the Sonoma wine country. This new mid-century modern 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home sits looking to the NW, with ever changing afternoon sunsets. Spend time on the deck sipping your new wine discoveries and fine regional artisan cheeses as you look up the Valley of the Moon flanked by Sonoma Mountain on one side and the famous Monte Rossa Vineyard on the other. You can cook in the designer kitchen and eat inside at the large square hammer copper dining table that so comfortably seats eight in leather arm chairs. Or you can BBQ and ten can comfortably eat on the teak table right outside the kitchen. Enjoy this cook’s home with all the cooking gear you will you are not out dining at one of the great restaurants in the region. Sonoma is home to great chefs and famous restaurants. We are also pleasantly close to other food centric places including Glen Ellen (15 minutes), Napa (25 minutes), Tiburon or Sausalito (35 minutes) , or across the Golden Gate into San Francisco or via the Richmond Bridge to Berkeley (45 minutes). If you are like most people we know you will often gather in the kitchen, but the living room is also very comfortable with a new large HD TV, a gas fire place, and plenty of seating—easily rearranged to fit the size of your group. In the master bedroom awaken in the Cal-King bed looking out the large glass doors and windows to the private deck cradled by oaks. The master suite and deck allows you to totally get away from everyone and everything, with its comfortable couch for reading and watching a flat screen TV and adirondack chairs for lounging on the oak shaded deck. The master bath has a large shower surrounded by windows looking out to the deck, hot tub, old rock wall and forest; and a glass door leading to the teak hot tub on the deck—all wonderfully exposed to nature, with the deer, squirrels, migratory birds, soaring hawks, and the occasional fox or crop of wild turkeys. And you can sunbath by the hot tub in the afternoons to get a little color. Two other bedrooms comfortably sleep two each, one on an incredibly comfortable queen bed, desk and large flat screen TV, and the other with a twin trundle. They share a bathroom. There is also a blow up queen bed if you have a seventh or eighth person—you can throw it down at night in the living room and lightly take it away in the mornings. You are conveniently close to amenities you may find important including Sonoma Market and Whole Foods, a handful of fine local bakeries and premium wine stores, all favorites with local foodies. Starbucks, Peet's and the local coffee favorites, along with pharmacies, gas stations, dry cleaners and all the other helps to daily life are all close by. July is our warmest and driest month—on average of course. Temperatures typically range from the high 80s during the day to the low 50s at night. And even on the hottest days you receive the evening winds up from the San Francisco Bay that cool you off around 6 or 7 PM every day. This breeze makes for lovely evenings on the deck. There is much to do in Sonoma all the time, and July is no exception. The July “must do” event is the parade on the 4th as it loops around the Plaza—right out of a Norman Rockwell painting. Go early, take chairs, water and stake out some space. Bring lunch and some wine to have a picnic on the Plaza later. In the region there is a never ending list of things to do and see, including the Charles Schultz Museum in Santa Rosa, Broadway Under the Stars in Jack London Park (Glen Ellen), and live weekend entertainment with food and libations in many pleasant nearby locations. And of course, if you need to stay connected we have wi-fi. Cell reception is good here. Let us know your interests and we will help you find what you want to see and do. There are so many options you can tailor your time to your wishes. Come enjoy Sonoma…and stay on the Upper West Side. Your hosts, Claudia and Kevin Carruth

Claudia and Kevin are amazing hosts and their home is beautiful. I don't think the pictures begin to even do it justice. We stayed a few weekends ago for a girls' weekend and we weren't disappointed. The views are stunning and the home is comfortable and beautiful. I would HIGHLY suggest this property and would gladly stay here again. You won't be disappointed. 20 June 2016 - 15:46:00

We stayed at Kevin and Claudias house for a long weekend for a girls trip. Cannot imagine a better place to stay than their beautiful home. Amazing views, yet just minutes from Sonoma square. We Will absolutely be returning here someday soon. 18 September 2016 - 22:31:00

We had a perfectly wonderful time at Claudia and Kevin's very comfortable and beautifully furnished home in Sonoma. The master bedroom suite is amazing - comfortable king bed and gorgeous view of Sonoma valley. The modern style and many windows made it easy to enjoy the landscape while sitting on the sofa. We enjoyed the well stocked kitchen and grill and the nearby town of Sonoma, and the vineyards of course. Oh, and the hot tub right on the deck, outside the master suite! Claudia made arrival super easy and texted me back immediately if I had any questions. I really felt they wanted us to have a great time and offered suggestions in a helpful, unobtrusive way. It was a very easy and friendly arrangement. We stayed 2 nights - I wish it had been longer. 01 January 2017 - 21:46:00

It's an incredible beautiful and comfortable house. It's also very quiet and relaxing. We spent a weekend with friends here and had an excellent time cooking and hanging out. The kitchen is very well stocked, had much more than what we needed. Claudia is great to deal with, is very reliable and on top of things. 05 June 2017 - 04:11:00

We had such a wonderful stay at this beautiful Sonoma home and wished we could have stayed longer! It was the perfect home for a girls getaway! The views throughout the home and from the balcony are so stunning and the decor/artwork, simply amazing. Claudia was such a gracious host and gave us wonderful recommendations upon arrival and followed up throughout the visit to make sure we were comfortable and doing well. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. We will definitely be back to stay at this beautiful property! 28 June 2017 - 13:12:00

A group of five of us just stayed here ove July 4th weekend and it was one of the most relaxing weekends any of us have had in our adult lives. The house is perfectly positioned hillside above Valley of the Moon which makes for some amazing views. With all of the deer we saw on the road and around the house you get the feeling you are far removed from any city. This house is far enough from the traffic in the Sonoma Square area but close enough to be there within a couple of minutes. It is also minutes from several grocery stores and restaurants. At last, the house is very clean and beautifully decorated. The pictures you see on the website are great but we felt they didn't do the home justice, you have to experience it for yourself. All five of us agreed we will definitely rent here again next time we are in the area. 06 July 2017 - 13:20:00

Kevin and Claudia's house was spectacular. It was the perfect place for our group of six to enjoy a long weekend in wine country. The house itself is beautiful - wonderfully renovated and appointed. We spent most of our time on the deck enjoying the perfect weather and scenic views. The location was also great, being very near Sonoma Square and many wineries. Kevin and Claudia were great hosts with lots of wonderful recommendations for restaurants and wineries. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect experience! 26 August 2017 - 12:36:00

I do not know where to start or which words to use when describing this house, because it left me speechless. From my first contact with Claudia, who was gracious, accommodating and consistently available despite being all the way in Africa, to my well-appointed surroundings. I can say, that I had one of the best weekends I've had in quite some time and I've rented a number of houses through VRBO. This is one of my favorites and one I would recommend to friends and family. There is no better place to experience all Sonoma has to offer. You have the square within a few miles, a number of fine restaurants, shopping and recreation and you are able to capture the incredible beauty of the surrounding area and take in the Sunsets. This is just one you have to experience yourself. Cheers, The Heard Family 12 July 2014 - 05:51:52

We had the great pleasure of staying in Claudia's beautiful home for a weekend and we had a truly amazing experience! We have been renting over VRBO for many years and our experience in this home was far better than any other place we've ever stayed at. First off, the home was everything that the pictures and description had implied. It had the most amazing views of a valley from large floor to ceiling windows and a beautiful wrap around terrace. Sitting outside on the terrace enjoying local cheese and wine and looking at the sunset or relaxing in the hot tub by itself was a wonderful experience. Add to that the gorgeous modern architecture and the beautiful paintings and artifacts from around the world, and we could not imagine a lovelier and more relaxing place to stay at. Finally, there was the wonderful owner herself, Claudia, who was extremely kind and thoughtful. She gave us wonderful suggestions of where to eat and what to try and even a wonderful bike trail when she realized we had brought along our bikes! We will cherish our memories of this stay and would highly recommend this place to anyone!! 11 August 2014 - 04:00:08

Located conveniently in Sonoma making a quick drive to Napa effortlessly, this amazing home sit on top of a lovely hill with an amazing view. When you pull into the driveway, you notice there is plenty of room for 2 cars in the driveway. You then walk up an awesome walk way with seating areas which gets you to the front door. You can see in and you know that the pictures looked amazing but actually being there is even better. I hosted clients in this fabulous home and they were blown away. All the beds are comfortable (even the pullout below the twin which is where I slept). We cooked in the first night and our host helped us grocery shop, they were absolutely amazing! Anything you needed to cook was conveniently available. After we ate both nights, we spent the evenings watching the sunset behind the mountains and then sat on the patio drinking wine and enjoying the weather. The home is also just a quick drive to the market and multiple wineries. If this home is available on the dates you want it, then you should book it now! 15 September 2014 - 06:32:03

This home and the owners have to be experienced to fully reflect on their joys, comfort and hospitality. The photos are good, but the home shows so much more expansively when you walk in. There are modern amenities throughout and easy, but refined living is a guidepost here. The views from the expansive deck, out into the valley are by themselves, worth the price of admission. Every part of the house was welcoming, and well maintained. The interior furnishings and decorations reflect an exquisite eye and sense of taste, but were also arranged and available for comfortable living. The owners, even when they were traveling, were always available and insightfully helpful in answering questions or offering recommendations. And, they were a joy to deal with. They instantly conveyed the feeling that "their house was our house" upon arrival. We were here with another couple, as well as a college student, and the house absorbed everyone with a sense of privacy, but at the same time, a communal feeling. Our only regret in posting such a strong and glowing review is the very real possibility that the home will be booked when we schedule our return visit. 26 September 2014 - 15:24:18

We spent an amazing two nights at Claudia and Kevin's beautiful Sonoma house. The pictures do not do it justice! They underwent an extensive renovation several years back and everything in the finished product is top quality. From the built-in speakers in just about every room to the huge view deck looking up the valley, we enjoyed everything about this house. Some highlights: -3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths -Gigantic master suite, second bedroom with a queen bed and third bedroom with a trundle. -Fully stocked kitchen with everything you need to cook including spices/sauces. -Wonderful artwork all over the house that they have collected from around the world. -Gigantic deck looking northwest up the valley. There is an area with a huge table w/ umbrella and built-in BBQ, plus a separate area with a teak hot tub (wonderful!). -The location is central to just about everything in Sonoma. We were two couples plus another adult and the house fit us perfectly. We already are making plans to come back as an annual trip. This house could not be more highly recommended. 21 October 2014 - 16:58:22

When we arrived we were greeted by the owners of the house, and wow what a greeting. Mrs C was a spit fire and a joy to be around. She takes you in and welcomes you with pure Sonoma hospitality, so kind and you want to be their friends...Forever!! This was the perfect place for a long weekend, and for my friends and me to reconnect after many years of not seeing each other, there was no street noise or loud families near, you feel that you are by yourself out in the "Valley of the Moon" country side..It is a Treehouse, but nothing close to being the treehouse we grew up with. It is Modern and comfortable. I would stay again, if they will have me. We had one issue while we were there and the owners took care of it with ease, no worries, and so professional... Please stay here if you are gong to be in the Sonoma area for a long weekend, you will not be disappointed!! 22 October 2014 - 14:35:11

We loved Claudia's and Kevin's house. We wished we lived there!! It is modern and beautifully decorated. It has an amazing view over the Sonoma Valley. Kitchen is very well equipped. The master bedroom and bathroom are just amazing!! We had a relaxing time there, chilling out on the deck, enjoying the wonderful surroundings. Claudia and Kevin were lovely and most helpful -- gave us a great tour of their house when we arrived and offered many useful tips as to what places, wineries, markets, etc to visit. We had some great memories from our long weekend there, the great accommodation we had made a big difference. We would love to return for a longer trip soon. 21 July 2015 - 22:51:49

My wife and I stayed at Kevin and Cluadia's home for a long weekend coinciding with the Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival. It is located just a few minutes from the Sonoma Plaza and is convenient to everything you'd need for your stay. (The Sonoma Market is the place to shop for food and other essentials.) Their home represents a very interesting mix of modern design and California tree house! The very large deck sits among the tree tops on the side of a steep slope and provides amazing views of the valley that stretches out before you. The interior design is eclectic and mixes modern European with Claudia's Columbian heritage. It has a very warm and comfortable feeling, and you know that you are in Kevin and Claudia's home, not a rental property. The home is within 30 minutes of more wineries and restaurants and shops than you will ever be able to visit in a week's time. It is a beautiful, peaceful property to come home to with a sack of groceries and some good wine. The kitchen is fantastic to work in, and the dining room is the best we have ever seen. However, we spent al of our evenings on the back deck which has a great dinner table. The best part, though, is the shower in the master bedroom suite and I won't spoil the surprise here. 06 October 2015 - 14:30:40

we absolutely loved our stay here. we were a group of 6 adults (3 couples) and had the home was perfect for us. very clean, well supplied, and modern. great sound system throughout the entire home and outside - plug in to an an auxiliary chord and can control volume in every room easily and separately. great kitchen that opens widely to the deck that has an amazing view of the valley. nice grill. the owner and their assistant checked in with a text message daily to make sure all of our needs were met. 25 minute walk to Sonoma Square, or very easy to get an Uber for the 5 minute drive. we loved everything about this rental and have zero negative comments. we will stay here again for sure. also here are the wineries we enjoyed: Saturday 1:00pm - Gundlach Bundschu (beautiful setting near Sonoma Square, good wines) 3:30pm - Rams Gate Winery (beautiful setting south of Sonoma, good wines) 6:15pm - Dinner at Girl and The Fig (great atmosphere, unique but potentially limiting menu) Sunday 11:30am - Sojourn (on Somoma Square, amazing wines) 12:45pm - Ty Caton (near Sonoma Square, warehouse feel, amazing wines) 2:00pm - Lunch at Hop Monk Tavern (near Sonoma Square, bar fare, very nice beer selection) 3:15pm - Benziger (north of Sonoma, beautiful setting but touristy feel) 03 June 2017 - 14:34:00

We stayed over Thanksgiving with our two sons and fell in love with the beautiful view and lovely interior of this home. The kitchen was a dream especially if you love to cook--all the gadgets ever imagined were at our disposal. The warm fireplace and gorgeous views from the family room and deck made our stay wonderful. Our hosts were especially wonderful even without meeting them. They called from their vacation to make certain everything was perfect and to ask if there were any questions. The home is close to all the amenities you will need. It is only a few minutes from grocery stores and 30 minutes from Napa. The best features are the peaceful surroundings and beautiful artwork throughout the house. We even enjoyed Kit (the cat) which spent much of his time with us. I hope to make this an annual event for our family and would definitely recommend staying at this home. 11 December 2015 - 01:01:27

We had an incredible stay in Claudia and Kevin's home! They were so welcoming and spent time showing us everything we needed to know in order to get the best use out of their home. Their home is beautifully decorated, had every amenity we needed, and was incredibly peaceful. The view is unmatched, a true treat! I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking to get the most out of their experience in Sonoma! 02 January 2018 - 17:12:00
