In the glorious hills of Montespertoli overlooking an ancient Castle, in one of the most beautiful position in the area, a top of a hill, stands the pretty Villa I Leoni, a charming and authentic old manor House that dates back to the XIX century. We had a pleasant stay at the villa. Positives: +Large and spacious. Composed of 5 different apartments of differing size and different arrangements - Thus allowing privacy for individual family groups. +Quiet with beautiful vineyards and olive orchards nearby. Garden area is well-maintained. +Nice pool. +Well located for touring Tuscany, Florence, Pisa, Sienna, etc. +Air conditioning available for additional fee +Several good restaurants nearby, as well a small grocery store. Disadvantages: -Poor Wifi. -The larger apartments are a little dated. -No indoor communal area for everyone to hang out, talk or watch a movie. (The main living room has the large dining room table in it.) -Not every apartment has a washing machine, and there are no electric dryers (just a clothesline). -Garbage/recycling is confusing - No cleaning service provided mid-stay (we were there two weeks) I believe we were the first family to stay at the villa for the season, and that may explain why the home was not so clean upon arrival. There were cobwebs in the corners, bug infestations in one of the bathrooms, and some of the sheets didn't feel clean. We also had a water leak in one room, and the TV in another wasn't working. Thus, it seemed that several things needed a little refreshing when we arrived. Sergio and his family were welcoming and did their best to accommodate our requests. But, I feel I need to give an honest representation of the home, as it is a lot of money, and we were a little disappointed. "Glam camping" is how my (American) family described it. It is hard to find large villas for a family group. And this house can easily fit the bill if you know what you are getting. It is a perfectly good option if your main need is a decent place to sleep each night. Since we had activities planned each day, and we ate out most of the time, it suited our needs fine, but wasn't the kind of place we wanted to hang around during the day. 01 September 2016 - 09:22:13

There were 19 of us. Plenty of room, and each day we did an excursion (about 45 minutes away) to Florence, Siena, Pisa etc. It was wonderful -- 10 August 2017 - 16:14:00

30 August 2017 - 08:48:00

A lovely house with very helpful people. Nice pool and clean and beautiful area. The only negative thing is that the road is just outside and a lot of tractors drive outside. Otherwise it was fantastic. We hired a chef one night and the food was amazing! 13 September 2017 - 13:33:00

It was such a lovely stay and all the family (24 of us!!!!) absolutely loved it. Great apartments & barn. The swimming pools were just perfect and the views to die for! Definitely going back there again...Sergio the owner was always happy to help. Improvement required: gain internet connections at the barns. 10 September 2011 - 18:40:53

We stayed one week at that property and enjoyed it very much! The owner was very helpful and always ready to give more informations. The property was clean, a lot of place to stay and the photos reflect the real appearance. It was very easy to reach Florence and many other places for sightseeing. To find restaurants and other attractions don*t hesitate to ask Sergio. 26 September 2011 - 11:15:35

My sister and I and all our families (15 people in all, from 16-months-old up) had a week's delightful stay here. All the rooms are attractively decorated, the beds are comfortable and the showers are good. The kitchen appliances, including a dishwasher, work well, and there are lots of dishes. The pool was well-used, especially by the children, and the views from poolside are superb. The location is terrific (if you have a car) because it is so central to so many of the fabulous hill towns of Tuscany. Food stores are a short drive away, there is a winery (with not fabulous, but quite drinkable, wine) in walking distance, and the gelateria in nearby Ginestra has the best gelato we tasted in Italy. 10 October 2012 - 21:26:21

There are some moments in life where the stars align and you feel truly blessed. That was our experience at Villa I Leoni. I feel the description here does not truly do this property justice. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful, but what made this a truly successful experience for us was the owner, Sergio. He went above and beyond to make my husbands and my experience a perfect one. 34 of us rented the main Villa and the two converted barns down the driveway, and my guests were blown away with the experience and the level of service that was provided. The property provided a perfect wedding venue, but also plenty of wonderful entertainment options. We scheduled a wonderful wine tour, with Julian Pio throughout the Chianti and San Gimignano area that took us to Machiavellis house (very close), and several beautiful mid-evil towns. We also enjoyed dinner at the nearby restaurant, Trattoria Il Focolare which was walking distance from the Villa. It was the best steak we have ever had, and one of the best meals we had in our travels through Italy. The best part though was just spending time around the pool and at the Villa! We couldnt have asked for a better time or a better wedding! Whenever I think about Villa I Leoni and the area surrounding, or look at pictures my eyes well up with tears of joy. A piece of my heart will always stay there, and I cannot wait to return! 14 August 2013 - 23:23:47

My family and I ventured to Italy for a trek across the country. We ended our trip by staying at Sergio's wonderful villa for the last week. It was like stepping into a storybook - the landscape and villa were breath taking. The location, amenities, and hospitality were extraordinary! We enjoyed day trips to Florence, Siena, San Gimgnano, and Cinque Terre and closed out our evenings by the pool at the villa. I am sure your family and friends will enjoy your stay at Villa I Leoni. 09 July 2015 - 14:45:47

Great accommodations and the owner, Sergio, is extremely attentive and accommodating. Trip to celebrate my wife's special birthday along with our four 20-something kids, spouses & 88 year old mother. Wonderful outdoor living also--huge pool overlooking the Tuscan valleys, large pavilion where 18 of us dined al fresco. Outdoor pizza oven/grill. Sergio arranged for a chef that was terrific and house keeping as desired. So many nearby vineyards and close to all the wonderful villages you want to drive to in an hour or less, Sienna, San Gimignano, Florence. The Cinque Terre coast is 1.5 hour car ride and Rome 1.5 hr train ride. Excellent restaurants within 5-10 minutes. We were there during a heat wave, but at night it was magnificent. By the pool with some Lambrusco--nice way to cool down too. If you are into the Epicurean, there will be so many choices, but I highly recommend a tour & lunch at the Frescobaldi Estate, Tenuta di Castiglioni, which is five minutes away. Its the oldest of Frescobaldi's estate where the family has continuously made wine for 700 years! Amazing cuisine and great juice too. Regarding the layout, the 10 bedrooms are located in one villa and one detached guest house and are basically five separate apartments each complete with kitchens, sitting areas, etc. So, it is really private for individual couples or extended families wanting to be together but with individual privacy. Only downside is that if you are a dozen or more and want to have one gathering spot to sit and visit, you must do this at the large dining table, poolside or under the pavilion. No large indoor sitting area or family room as we are accustom to in the US. WiFi outdoors and in some portions of the villa. Very well maintained. Great Value. 26 July 2015 - 12:57:10

My family included 17 people from 2 different countries. we came to Sergio's villa for a week of fun and relaxation and got that and more. The set up is perfect, with a great pool, bbq and the most important, a large central kitchen and a large central table that we all fit and have diner together every night. each apartment had a great air condition system, a small kitchen (even if we only used the main kitchen) and a great bathroom. All the rooms and bathrooms were super clean and the beds super comfortable. as I said, the perfect set up. Sergio and his family are amazing hosts. PLEASE listen to his recommendations regarding restaurants and a private chef. the best decision we made was to invite Jocopo to cook for us for one night and then we took his cooking class. that was one of the biggest high lights of our trip. the restaurants Sergio suggested were so amazing I have no words. A very important point in selecting this villa is the location - perfectly quite and secluded and yet very easy to get to and very close to all area of travel - siena, Florence and pissa. Thank you Sergio for a great vacation. 27 July 2015 - 21:09:39

We had a wonderful time, and Sergio Panchetti, could not have been more helpful! We brought 11 adults and their children from New York City, Westwood, Mass, Cambridge, Sommerville, and even Saipan! The children loved the pool, and we loved the air conditioning! Although, we ate most dinners outside. We had 10 grandchildren! Fantastic fun being so close to Florence, where we had a wonderful tour of the city! We loved the town of Montespertoli, where we found everything we needed! Wine, milk, fruit, and our cook was fabulous! 20 August 2015 - 17:08:59

We had a wonderful time at this lovely place. We where a group of 16 people and spend our 1 week autumn holiday in tuscany. By day we visited Florenz, Siena, San Gimignano, Luca and Pisa. From here all towns where good reachable. In the evening we sit at the big table in the lower floor and enjoy a great tuscan dinner from our cook Laura. Sergio is a very good host and I thank him for his hospitality. 14 October 2015 - 11:58:47

We were with a group of 16 friends, and enjoyed every second of our stay. The owner Sergio, was really helpfull with all the arrangements, and we had a real good price for 5 days. We did yoga at the pool, drank wine in the evenings under the perfect porches, and had dinner in the large living room with all 16 of us. Sergio even made a reservation at a lovely pizzeria on the day of our arrival. It was really enjoyable. Thank you so much! 05 November 2015 - 18:16:28

Our family of 14 people - including a set of 4 year old twins - recently vacationed at this wonderful Villa! The accommodations were lovely and worked perfectly for our group. The separate apartments allowed for quiet time and the large dining room table and main kitchen made for wonderful, whole family gatherings. The swimming pool was a welcome oasis after days of long walks and warm temperatures.Sergio was a terrific host and we were grateful for all his help on numerous occasions. We chose not to rent a car, but getting around was easy because the bus stop was very close to the Villa. The location of the villa allowed us to make trips to Florence daily, along with day trips to Pisa and Venice. The nearby village of Montagnana had all the necessities including a small grocery store and great pizzeria.Everything about this Villa contributed to our fantastic family vacation/adventure and I must say, since we returned home, my husband said he wished we would have spent more time at the Villa and less time sightseeing. I would highly recommend it. Thank you so much, Sergio. 13 September 2016 - 14:46:02

We rented Sergio's villa for our extended family of 17 ranging in age from one year old baby to 72 year old grandparents and everyone was so happy! The villa is broken up into smaller apartments within, which worked perfectly for us so that little ones could be out to bed while the adults hung out. The outside patio was perfect for us all to gather for lunch and dinner and the pool was beautiful! In the olive groves and with little lemon trees lining the walkway, it was everything you could hope for! Best of all was the help that Sergio provided in making this the best holiday ever! From making a dinner reservation for us on our fist night to arranging a mini bus to Florence for multiple day trips, to connecting us with an amazing chef who cooked at the house for us for two very special nights, to arranging a doctor's visit when one of the children fell ill and needed antibiotics. We were in such good hands and couldn't have had a better time, he was a wonderful host. If you are thinking of having dinner cooked at the villa, Susanna is amazing. Together with her coworker, they brought us course after course of amazing Italian food. We had initially booked one night to celebrate our orients 50th wedding anniversary but the food and experience was so, so good, we added another night! The pricing was so reasonable and the food so fantastic the experience made our holiday! We walked down the hill past the stone lion to the local castle hotel and had another lovely meal in beautiful surroundings. All in all, the vacation of a lifetime! Many thanks to Sergio for all of his hard work on our behalf! 26 November 2016 - 03:05:21

We were a group of 12 ( 3 families) visiting for the week. Sergio was very accomodating with timing. He arranged drivers for us on a daily basis - who were very fair and flexible with timing. He helped us with dinner reservations, wine tasting, arranging a cooking class at the villa and more! Each recommendation excellent! Most day trips were within an hour drive. The pictures A's advertised are accurate. Villa is clean. Ideal for 12-16 people. The villa is rented as a whole but there are several separate apartments within. 2 complaints - 1) we couldn't stay longer and 2)July must be mosquito season! Grazie Mille Sergio!! 16 July 2017 - 08:39:00
