This home is exceptionally gorgeous. So much so that I didn't want to leave. The interior is furnished with exquisite taste. You just feel happy being there. One night before going out to dinner we decided to relaxed on the charming patio with a glass of wine and enjoyed some nice cheese as well. Afterwards, we took a short walk to Chestnut Street and had dinner at Izza's!! A delicious steak House restaurant! I also recommend; Mama Mexican Restaurant, Lucca Italian Deli, and Over the Moon for the best ice cream in SF. There are so many more great restaurants on Chestnut and Steiner. All within walking distance. And the Marina is definitely within walking distance. You can even walk to the Golden Gate Bridge which is a little farther. I would say a lot of people young and old prefer to walk everywhere in the Marina District, especially when the weather is great, just like on Sunday, July 10th. Our last day in SF. But since our flight was at 10:00pm, we had plenty of time to walk on the GGB, 1.7 miles and we also, had time to visit the museum Legion of Honor! All before returning home to Los Angeles. We look forward to our next HomeAway and stay at this incredible home!!! I can't wait!! 11 July 2016 - 21:36:48

My wife, son and I stayed in Ellen's beautiful home during preparations for our daughter's wedding. The home is tastefully decorated and is everything as advertised. Having off street parking in the marina can't be overvalued. Ellen provides all of the information for your stay and the area has all of the amenities to make this the perfect location for a visit to San Francisco. 20 May 2016 - 16:52:00

We arrived from London and Ellen gave us a tour before she left. The house was perfect for us. Comfortable and very well equipped. Location has transport , restaurants , food stores and two cinemas at the end of the street. It gave us a superb base to explore the city , you can walk to Golden Gate Bridge or downtown. Highly recommended. Feel like a local in a peaceful neighbourhood. 08 March 2017 - 02:35:00

my wife and i are winding up a months stay at this single family home (hard to find) in the marina area of san francisco. the location is great, the home is lovely, and the host/property owner is wonderful. the location is located a couple of walking blocks from everything: the marina, crissy field, fort mason, chestnut street, the palace of fine arts, food markets and other shopping, etc. the house is on a quiet street in a beautiful neighborhood of the marina. the house is so comfortable and clean, we felt like we were vacationing in our own home. we could find no faults. a beautiful garden and deck off the kitchen; great for coffee in the morning. the host/property owner constantly wanted to make sure we were always comfortable and had we ever we needed. flowers and wine were there when we arrived. everything worked. recommendations for restaurants, beauty salons, manicures, pedicures, things to see in the bay area that don't always get the attention they deserve. we are looking forward to coming back next year. five stars plus. 04 March 2012 - 03:03:18
  6. Visit Date: March 29-April 3, 2012 Location, Location, Location! Is the spot on description that makes this VRBO listing a great find! Its wonderful occupancy in the Marina District affords travelers convenient access to numerous dining options, fabulous sights and recreational activities all within minutes of this ideal listing. Suited for no more than an adventurous couple, the personal home of the listing party is a good fit for a fabulous visit to San Francisco. The home offers immaculate living areas intended to comfort and provides a well stocked kitchen for breakfast and quick meals as occupants will discover its better to enjoy the communitys offerings rather than stay indoors. We took full advantage and walked nearby Chestnut Street for evening meals and relaxing wine bars. We even enjoyed a 10 minute walk to the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre after dark. Day time activities included renting bicycles and biking north over the Golden Gate Bridge and back to explore Crissy Field and most of the Marina area. Our rental car allowed us to day trip to Sonoma and Napa easily and parking for a small compact is provided in the listings driveway. The San Francisco Arboretum, the Presidio, Fort Point, Legion of Honor, China Beach was all within minutes drive from this listings location. Our visit was incredible. Caveat. As mentioned, this VRBO is the personal home of the listing party so there are numerous items the owner will ask that you pay special attention to while you enjoy your stay (i.e. Security System, Cultured Marble counter tops, and Crystal stemware). The homeowner was quite clear the renter would be held responsible should any of her request were not meet. We felt this should be mentioned upfront and not at the time of arrival. All of the aforementioned items are easily dealt with, but can be an unforeseen cost if not addressed up front. All in all, wed love to visit this VRBO listing again in the future. Sincerely, margate1509 17 April 2012 - 01:51:57

We highly recommend this property. Owner is extremely helpful and gracious. Home is very nice and the back patio/yard is an extra treat. Walk to water, GG bridge, Crissy field and the marina shopping and eating areas. 22 June 2012 - 16:08:57

My husband and I have never stayed in Marina before. What a totally unexpected neighborhood for us. Marina is a younger, more vibrant community than I'd imagined in prior trips (having never been there). We found the food and solitude within the city to be amazing. This rental is not a "prop your feet on the furniture" home but it is elegant and as a personal residence -- filled with charm and comfort. The garden is amazing. 14 September 2012 - 20:19:56
  10. We stayed here Thanksgiving week with our 14 year old son. The property is absolutely beautiful, fully stocked, and felt like home. My 27 year old son lives just around the corner so it was extremely convenient for us, close to great shopping and restaurants, and in a very safe quiet neighborhood. The kitchen appliances, dishes, glassware, pots and pans are front of the bus. I laughed at the reviewer who complained about emptying the dishwasher and watering the plants! Cut me a break! The home is even more beautiful than in the pictures, and it was great to have the extra bathroom for our son. Absolutely loved the shower that has a window exposing a small lighted garden. Although we didn't use the garage because we didn't have or need a car, the garage is huge and clean and a real bonus if you do have a car. If you are careless or the type of person who doesn't appreciate fine furnishings and antiques DO NO STAY HERE!! And if you do stay here by all means use coasters under your beverages! Oh, and we loved having the alarm system for peace of mind as I usually travel with nice jewelry. We use VRBO a lot, and this is by far, the nicest property we have ever had. Thank you Ellen!! 23 November 2012 - 19:33:05

We absolutely loved this home! We had 2 adult couples in our party that stayed for the weekend after a trip to Wine Country. We couldn't believe the location! We were able to walk just a couple blocks to cute restaurants (Starbucks, too!), nice shops, and down to the water. We went to the food trucks one night and it was just a 10 minute walk away. The neighborhood has so much character and it feels very safe. We felt comfortable walking back in the evenings. Ellen, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable of the area and we used her advice on several of our outings when it came to public transportation and parking. She has decorated her home so tastefully and we loved sitting out on her patio in the evening after a long day of sightseeing surrounded by her beautiful flowers. We could even hear the ships in the distance coming in at night! Everything was spotless and well maintained. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and the only negative of our entire experience was that it ended so soon! 03 October 2013 - 03:23:55

Everything positive written on this site about this beautiful, clean home is wonderfully accurate. As a couple, we enjoyed the ideal location in the Marina area, which allowed for leisurely morning walks along the waterfront with views of the Golden Gate Bridge just blocks from the house, perusing shops and restaurants on nearby Chestnut Street, taking the convenient bus as locals do, taking a scenic walk through Fort Mason along the bay to Fisherman's Wharf and much, much more. We preferred to dine out in the evening, and did not use the stove to cook; however, the kitchen is very well equipped. (FYI: Historic Tadich Grill is downtown SF for a fabulous dinner--no reservations, so arrive early.) At 'home', we enjoyed the great deck and garden for reading and relaxing with a cup of coffee. Important factors for an enjoyable stay are clean, comfortable pillows and bed (king) and good water pressure for showering; this home delivered perfectly! This rental is the personal home of the owner, thus, the home is well appointed with lovely furniture and fine belongings to be respected, surely. Further, the owner (Ellen) was wonderful and helpful in providing information about SF sights, restaurants and transportation. We hope to stay here on our next visit to San Francisco! 21 October 2013 - 16:17:47

We visit San Francisco often and usually stay in the downtown area and use public transportation. We stayed 5 days and decided to rent a car this time so we could visit the surrounding areas outside San Francisco and having the garage was a plus for us. I don't think we could have found a better location than the marine district. This home in particular with its location that was within walking distance to a wide variety of nearby resturants and shops on Chestnut St. The marina nearby enabled us to walk to view the Golden Gate Bridge and enjoy the open spaces. The owner Ellen actually lives in the house so it is well furnished, decorated and stocked with the best of what you need. The home is very cozy as the pictures portray. The patio area is serene and very private. You do not feel like you are in a typical San Francisco home with neighbors looking down on you. Ellen was very accommodating to our needs from start to finish. 27 October 2013 - 20:03:03

A beautiful, cozy home with a fantastic location in the heart of SF's marina district. Comfortable, tastefully decorated and quiet, the house also had a very nice patio and garden area for relaxing and outdoor meals as well as a full kitchen and dining room. All-in-all a great place to unwind and base your sightseeing and walking tours of San Fran. A couple of minor issues with parking (garage was handy but getting to it was sometimes challenging), internet (a bit slow for anything other than email) and the comfort of the 2nd bedroom (really a fold-out sofa bed). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay 09 June 2014 - 23:44:28

A beautiful, tastefully furnished home in a great area. 5 mins from Chestnut St, the Marina waterfront and various bus routes. Each evening when we returned from exploring the city it was great to return to a luxurious but homely sanctuary. We didn't cook in the house but the kitchen had all you'd need. Good variety of eating places on Chestnut St with a wonderful deli/grocery and Safeway a little further, but still within walking distance. We spent time discussing the rental with Ellen before we arrived so that we knew exactly what to expect. We were happy to water the odd plant & generally treat the place as our home and respect the fine furnishings. We appreciated Ellen's prompt response to any emails or texts and the speedy return of our Security Deposit. We would love to come back and stay in this lovely home if ever we return to San Francisco. 08 July 2014 - 01:50:25

We can't believe our good fortune in having the opportunity to stay in this marvelous property. The home is just blocks from the San Francisco Bay and marvelous eating and shopping experiences. We felt like we were staying in a favorite relatives home... That is if you have one with beautiful taste in decorating! Ellen leaves the home for you with full access to her garden patio, her beautifully appointed kitchen and a super cool shower including a view of a small garden area on the other side of the shower wall. The king size bed was so comfortable and had beautiful linens. Our adult son, slept in the den fold out couch and said he slept great. We enjoyed the beautiful, comfortable living room for relaxing and visiting with family from the area and played some mean cribbage around the dining room table. Two bathrooms is a definite plus. As we had a car, we didn't take lightly the opportunity to park in the driveway of this property... And if we had wanted, would have had garage parking available. Ellen is a great communicator... We feel like we have a new friend .... almost relative in SF! We benefited from her tips and recommendations, her clear directions and were in regular contact through booking, prearrival and post visit. We will count ourselves blessed if we have the opportunity to stay in Ellen's home when we return to the city. 05 October 2015 - 13:43:39

For the price of a nice downtown hotel, you can have this beautiful house in the Marina district. Everything about the house is first class. Just as described, comfortable as a home away from home and very clean. Terrific location close to Chestnut and Marina. Restaurants, shops and grocery store nearby. Easy access to most of the city. The house is perfect for two to four people. It is beautifully furnished with separate bedrooms, living room, kitchen, private courtyard and deck and garage. The kitchen is fully equipped if you want to eat in. Even a outside BBQ grill. Three TVs and washer/dryer. The owner is very helpful and ensured that everything we needed was taken care of. No surprises. It looks just like the pictures but the pictures do not do it justice. I highly recommend it and hope to stay there again. 09 November 2016 - 17:19:35

256 Mallorca Way is located in a prime location... it is in walking distance of many restaurants, interesting and varied shops and easily access to outdoor activities such as jogging, cycling and walking... this is our second time to rent this VRBO and had a good experience both times 26 November 2017 - 16:14:00

We rented this home for a week over the Christmas holiday as our daughter lives in San Francisco. The location was perfect for us--we could walk a few blocks to Chestnut Street for shops and restaurants or a few blocks in the opposite direction to Marina Green and Chrissy Field for beautiful outside spaces. The home is immaculate and has a well-equipped kitchen for meal preparation if desired. The neighborhood is quiet.....the deck and patio area in the backyard is very private and well maintained...we did not use it during your stay as the weather was a little chilly. We were a group of three and the size of the home was perfect for us with a very comfortable master bedroom and separate den with queen size sofa bed that was comfortable as well. The owner was attentive and available by email or phone to answer questions if needed. We would highly recommend this home and would stay here again in the future if it was available. 02 January 2018 - 12:17:00
