About listing

This beautiful and light boutique style apartment is situated in the leafy Plantage area which is in the heart of the city of Amsterdam. It has been completely renovated and lovingly furnished. The spacious apartment has high original ornamental ceilings, a display fireplace and 3 large windows on the North and South side. The kitchen is like everything else in the apartment – simple, beautiful and high quality and is fully equipped including dishwasher, fridge-freezer, washer/dryer, SMEG hob/oven and granite worktops. The bathroom includes a large walk-in shower with double basin vanity unit. The bedroom has an original ornamental ceiling, king-sized bed, built-in wardrobes and two large original doors that close the bedroom and bathroom from the open-plan living/kitchen space. The WC/toilet is located separately to the bathroom. Each piece of furniture has been chosen to create a beautiful and relaxing home. The apartment also has high-speed wireless internet, and a 32-inch Samsung flat-screen TV, DVD player and iPod speaker base. This first-floor apartment is located very close to the Amsterdam Business School on a leafy and charming street in a quiet residential part of the city. Within 1-3 mins you can walk to various local cafes, restaurants, bakery, supermarket, book store, Kriterion (arty) movie house, Oosterpark (lovely green park), multiple canals, Artis Zoo and the metro/tram. Take a 10-15 min (beautiful and safe) walk, and you are out of the calm and tranquility and into the buzzing ‘hub’ of the more crowded, busy, exciting and ‘touristy’ part of the city. If you are looking for a beautiful, quiet, relaxing well loved home to stay in which is right in the heart of the city to enjoy while you explore the canals, museums, shops, parks, restaurants and culture of Amsterdam, then this apartment is the perfect choice. If you are looking for nightlife and partying – then this apartment nor it's location will be suitable for you. QUICK FACTS • First floor (no lift) • Max. number of guests is 2 • Fully equipped kitchen • Washer/dryer • High-speed wireless internet • 32 inch Flat-screen TV / DVD • En-suite ‘spa’ bathroom • Strictly NO-SMOKING • 2 Mins walk to the nearest tram • Central, quiet and safe It's a very beautiful apartment and I am sure will make a lovely base for your stay in Amsterdam. My husband and I stayed here for a week in September - it was a wonderful choice. Dealing with Claudine and Kate was very easy - all emails were responded to promptly and Kate was standing on the street waiting for us on our arrival. The photos of the apartment are accurate - the apartment is spacious and was sparkling clean. The washing machine worked well and the apartment was well stocked with supplies. Kate recommended some restaurants and we tried Na Siam for Thai food, which was great. We also went to Loetje which was delicious - they serve huge portions! We had two bike tours with Mike's Bike Tours that were highlights of our week. Biking in Amsterdam is not for the faint of heart and it was fun to bike and learn at the same time. The guides at Mikes Bikes were interesting, relaxed and informative. Finally, having the restaurant Torino downstairs and a couple of doors over was a fantastic - we ended up there either for supper or a glass of wine every night. The apartment is walking distance to everything. I'd highly recommend this apartment - it was a huge part of why we loved Amsterdam so much. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Amsterdam. Barb & Jim 04 October 2014 - 19:48:08

My husband and I stayed in Claudines charming apartment for a week in October. We had a great time! We loved Amsterdam and the apartment. Dealing with both Claudine and Kate could not have been easier. They provided prompt and helpful responses to any and all questions and concerns. Kate arranged for a taxi to pick us up at 6:15 A.M. on the morning of our departure and said we should call her at 6:20 AM if it did not show up. Thankfully, it did. The apartment was in a great location, convenient without being in a hub of tourists. It was very comfortable and so much nicer than a hotel room. Staying there really enhanced our vacation and we would gladly stay there again. Thank you, Kate and Claudine. 13 October 2014 - 15:21:04

My husband and I stayed in this wonderful apartment for one week in October to explore this fabulous city. We loved it! My husband is very tall (6'8'') and the king size very comfortable bed and large shower with rainfall shower head were greatly appreciated. We were worried about the location at first, but it was perfect. Nice quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance to many sites and readily available metro and tram lines to the rest. Very easy to navigate this city. Nice to have grocery store within 2 blocks. Having laundry, kitchen and internet access made everything so much easier. Fabulous place to stay. Nice to have Kate in town in case of any problems. Great for couples! Only one flight of stairs which is great for Amsterdam (trust me). Would definitely stay here again if in Amsterdam. 29 October 2014 - 01:33:56

My wife and I found this apartment to be all we had hoped it would be- roomy, clean, ideally located to the metro, quiet, and a safe neighborhood. There were no unpleasant surprises and the communications with the owner were excellent. We would stay again. 25 November 2014 - 20:38:55

My husband and I arrived on 12/12/2014 and were met by Kate who walked us through the apartment - she also provided numerous suggestions for restaurants, tours and a great yoga studio around the corner. We walked everywhere! The apartment and it's amenities were amazing, everything we needed was provided and I would stay here again without questions. It was also very easy to book - no issues at all. I've travelled a lot and have very high standards - this apartment exceeded my expectations. 13 January 2015 - 05:30:34

We really enjoyed this apartment, which was in a quiet neighborhood and very accessible to trams and the Metro. However, if you wanted to walk everywhere, you could do so as well. There's also a grocery store nearby, which allows for cooking/evenings in after long days of wandering about. We also used the movie theatre/cafe a block away a few times, which was fun. The apartment is modern, clean, and just altogether lovely. The only recommendation I have is to bring an eye mask for sleeping if your apartment or house at home is protected from streetlights. The bedroom has lots of filtered light. That's not a complaint, just a note if the next renter needs it. Altogether, this relaxing, quiet apartment made our week-long stay in Amsterdam over the holidays perfect - even better than our past three visits there! 17 January 2015 - 14:39:52

I don't know how I forgot to write a review upon our return home in November, but better late than never. My husband and I stayed in Claudine's apartment for a week in November. We were in town for an animation festival at the Eye. THIS APARTMENT WAS AMAZING...so clean, every little detail taken care of. The space was beautiful and full character. Thankfully it was located just outside of the busy area of the city, so we could get a restful sleep in the super comfy king sized bed. I couldn't have asked for more. A grocery store around the corner, a great pizza place down the street, and the building was so quiet. My husband and I like to walk so we didn't use any mode of transport other than our feet, but there were options all around us. The walk to the city center was beautiful. I can't recommend an apartment more. Oh...Kate!!! Kate is the wonder woman who looks after the apartment. She's great. Met us SO early in the morning to check us out. Even had a car waiting to take us to the airport (FYI all cabs about 50 to the airport). If your debating...just rent this place. You won't regret it!! 27 March 2015 - 03:11:33

I stayed here in March while visiting family in Amsterdam. The apartment is as charming as the photos. Stylish, spotless, convenient. It's an easy bike ride to any part of town. Claudine and her friend Kate were a delight...they made everything so easy. I definitely would stay here again and already have recommended it to friends. 28 May 2015 - 13:47:04

This is a spotless, well-fitted-out and ideally located apartment within walking distance of all of Amsterdam's main attractions. With trams a couple of streets away, you can be in the city core in minutes. The location is perfect - within walking distance of the central area, but far enough away to be quiet. There are cafes literally next door and very nice restaurants within 10 minutes' walk. Kate, who greeted us and showed us the apartment, was full of useful local knowledge. Everything you could possibly want in an apartment was available, including a comfy mattress! Highly recommended. 10 September 2015 - 17:18:04

You will not be disappointed in this beautiful well located apartment. It is in a lovely area right across the street from the university, perfectly located close to trams and a short walk to the subway at Weesperplein station. Far enough away from the busy tourist areas so that you don't feel like a tourist yourself, but still close enough to walk to all the main Amsterdam attractions. The apartment is exactly as described. Plenty of natural light, spacious with modern bathroom and kitchen. Email communication with the owner Claudine was quick and straightforward. Yuri was very helpful meeting us at the apartment and making sure we settled in well. It was very nice to be welcomed with some beers and soft drinks in the fridge and traditional Dutch biscuits. Tea, coffee and basic kitchen supplies were all provided. Washing machine and dryer worked well. The only improvement would be to have block out blinds in the bedroom as the room was too bright at night because of the street lighting. We would highly recommend this apartment and would love to stay again if we return to Amsterdam. 25 September 2015 - 10:41:01

My friend and I recently stayed in this beautiful apartment for 5 days, and I can vouch for all the superlatives which one finds in these reviews. It was a very comfortable apartment, well-stocked and convenient to all that Amsterdam offers. The booking details were easily worked out with Ms. O'Leary, and the arrival and departure details were perfectly coordinated by Kate, including a 5 AM taxi pick up. I have stayed in other VRBO rentals, and this was easily the nicest. The photos are perfectly representative of the actual apartment, and the neighborhood is every bit as lovely and quiet as promised. Looking forward to going back! 09 October 2015 - 14:22:00

Had a terrific week long stay here in August. The apartment was exactly as promised, in perfect & spotless condition, light & airy, no noise or electronics issues. Totally comfortable bed and great shower. Loved the area as well, just out of the way of the tourist congested areas. The whole transaction from when initiated with Claudine to concluded with Kate was exceptional! As noted by someone else previously, the one set of straight up stairs to the apartment are a bit steep. This was not a problem for us 60 year olds, but might possibly be for folks with stair climbing/knee issues. 29 November 2015 - 01:11:24

My husband and I stayed for six nights at this property in Amsterdam; we would definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to friends. The apartment is a spacious one bedroom with comfortable places to sit in the living room, a very well equipped kitchen, very comfortable king size bed and great toilet and washroom. Internet was fast and reliable and it was a pleasure to have a washer-dryer that we could use since we had already been travelling for a week. We really appreciated the detailed handbook that contained instructions on all the appliances! The apartment is very bright and the windows open for fresh air. While the bedroom faces on the street there is very little traffic so no concern about noise. The living room and kitchen look out over various back gardens. Kate, who is the local contact was very flexible - our train was delayed three hours due to the security alert in Belgium that week. We were in touch by email and she was very understanding. Kate also checked us out at the end and arranged a taxi to the airport. We walked everywhere in Amsterdam and it was lovely to come home at the end of the day to our own space, very slightly outside the busy city centre. There is a very convenient grocery store a block away an we actually ate in most nights. Had a great fondue the last evening in the restaurant that is immediately to the left of the front door when facing it. The apartment is on the first floor (second floor to North Americans). The stairs are very steep so anyone with a mobility impairment may not manage these well. With that exception I am confident anyone would be happy here. 19 April 2016 - 17:13:43

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights and were totally happy with every aspect of the apartment and location. We spent our days exploring the city by foot - so many things to see and do close by. The kitchen is very nicely appointed, the bed comfortable, the shower glorious and it was a real benefit to have a washer and dryer on site. Claudine and Kate make renting this apartment very easy - a delight to deal with! I will be recommending this apartment to friends and family. 08 July 2016 - 09:31:41

Wonderful apartment in a great location! Comfortable bed and furniture and great light in a nicely decorated place. Across the Street from the Univ. of Amsterdam on a quiet area. We were there for 6 weeks and got to know the area well. Close to metro and tram, as well as many very good restaurants. It's in a more residential area so not part of the tourist intense Central area. Easy to walk to the Metro or tram in 5 minutes. Just 3 tram stops to the Concertgebouw or the Rijks museum. Will likely be back to Amsterdam and would stay there again without hesitation. Kate was there to meet us and was extremely helpful throughout our visit and in our departure. We not only would recommend this to any friends (unless they needed handicap accessibility) but have already done so. 26 December 2016 - 15:33:24

Kate is very helpful in every aspect of staying at the apartment. She is there for anything you need. The apartment is in a non-touristy area of very touristy Amsterdam. However, it is convenient to everything. The only thing you need to be aware of is that, as in most buildings in Amsterdam, there are very narrow steep steps to climb getting to the apartment. If I were coming back to Amsterdam, I would stay here in a heart beat. 27 October 2017 - 20:05:00

This apartment was one of the best we stayed in during our three weeks in Europe and the U.K. It is everything we needed and more. The neighborhood is quiet and close to grocery and several tram lines. The kitchen has full size appliances making cooking a breeze. Communication from start to finish was quick and easy. Even the "how to" manual about the apartment was thorough and easy to understand. I can't recommend this apartment enough. 01 January 2018 - 19:43:00

We stayed for about four weeks in this apartment from mid-November to mid-December. It was a really wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it. The apartment is spacious and situated in a perfect location -- far enough from the center of Amsterdam to be quiet and peaceful, but still with lots of activity during the day and close enough that you can walk or take public transportation everywhere you would like to go. There is a grocery store a few minutes away, and some nice restaurants even closer. The apartment is very comfortable, with nice furniture and everything you could need. The pictures online don't really do it justice -- we looked at a few places before renting and most had pictures that were staged with wide angle lenses that made them look much bigger than they actually are. This one looks smaller in the pictures than it is in real life. The landlady, Kate, was very friendly and helpful. If I ever come back to Amsterdam, I will really want to stay in this place. I miss it! 20 December 2017 - 22:52:00

This was a great place to stay in a quiet residential neighborhood but a nice walk to the big museums (20-25 minutes) or to Dam Square (about 25 minutes). The landlord is very helpful and friendly. A great base for explorating a beautiful city, 31 October 2017 - 19:59:00

We had a wonderful stay at this clean, cozy and well equipped apartment. Kate was super helpful when she checked us in, giving us tips on where to eat and what to see. I would stay here again and highly recommend the apartment and Kate as a host! 29 September 2017 - 00:52:00
