I wanted to share some of my first hand observations of our island (St. Thomas, USVI), my last visit was 1/11/2018. I am amazed at the amount of work that has been done to clean up. I am also happy to know that most everyone has power again. Seeing some of the destruction is very sad, but I truly admire the speed of clean up and recovery. More importantly, I saw great attitudes by just about everyone I talked with. The roads have some pot holes, and some of the street lights are not working yet. Overall, driving is mostly back to normal. I did not experience power outages while there this time, but I think it is important to be prepared for those. On the other hand, seeing all the new power-lines installed everywhere (with a new poll system) is truly fascinating and admirable. Tourist activities are all happening and I saw taxi’s everywhere! Grocery stores are 100% stocked up, specifically Food Center and Moe’s (both close to our condo) are 100%. I would say at least 90% of restaurants & bars are fully functional. I had great meals at Island Time, XO, Hook Line & Sinker, Sunset Grille, Gladys’ and Lattes in Paradise. The beaches were better than ever. Clean and ready to be enjoyed. I personally checked out Magen’s, Lindquist and of course our very own Sapphire. At least 90% of shops were open and ready for business. I drove through downtown and got stuck in traffic due to the amount of activity with cruise ships in town. Yes, some of the resorts will be closed for a while, but the rest of us and the cruise ship companies will keep tourism alive and growing. I was pleased to see tourists. I also saw the excursion boats ready for business and anxious to show everyone our beautiful neighbors, snorkeling destinations and the amazing fishing we are known for. In summary, I know that we do not look the same as before the two hurricanes, but we are really good. Our “really good” is better than most other places, and therefore I am proud to welcome guests back to our condo and Island. OUR REGULAR DESCRIPTION: Our unit is fully furnished and comfortably sleeps 4 guests in two fully furnished bedrooms. Amenities include two full bathrooms, a full-sized kitchen, a large living area, two balconies with waterfront views. Modern conveniences of a townhome such as air conditioning, cable TV, ceiling fans and phones are also available. Housekeeping services with fresh towels and linens are provided during your stay. The property has a multi-level freshwater pool that overlooks the Caribbean Sea beach. The condominium is steps away from a wonderful sparkling beach stretching a half mile long. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy whether your preference is relaxing in the sun, riding the waves, snorkeling, paddling, sitting under an umbrella or building a sand castle. Care to try your hand at water sports? Deep sea diving, jet skiing, snorkeling and water excursions are available through vendors at our marina. Our condo is within 5 minutes to Red Hook, an intimate commercial strip packed with novelty stores, clothing shops, bars and restaurants. Passenger and vehicle ferry service to St. John and the British Virgin Islands is also available from Red Hook. As a two bedroom, that is in immaculate condition, we are the best deal at the waterfront of Sapphire Beach!
