About listing

WE ARE 100% BACK POST HURRICANES!!!! ST. THOMAS AND THE USVI ARE ALSO READY. See pictures in gallery area taken 12/12/2017 also we have recent reviews that will give you further perspective. I wanted to share some of my first hand observations of our island (St. Thomas, USVI), my last visit was 1/11/2018. I am amazed at the amount of work that has been done to clean up. I am also happy to know that most everyone has power again. Seeing some of the destruction is very sad, but I truly admire the speed of clean up and recovery. More importantly, I saw great attitudes by just about everyone I talked with. The roads have some pot holes, and some of the street lights are not working yet. Overall, driving is mostly back to normal. I did not experience power outages while there this time, but I think it is important to be prepared for those. On the other hand, seeing all the new power-lines installed everywhere (with a new poll system) is truly fascinating and admirable. Tourist activities are all happening and I saw taxi’s everywhere! Grocery stores are 100% stocked up, specifically Food Center and Moe’s (both close to our condo) are 100%. I would say at least 90% of restaurants & bars are fully functional. I had great meals at Island Time, XO, Hook Line & Sinker, Sunset Grille, Gladys’ and Lattes in Paradise. The beaches were better than ever. Clean and ready to be enjoyed. I personally checked out Magen’s, Lindquist and of course our very own Sapphire. At least 90% of shops were open and ready for business. I drove through downtown and got stuck in traffic due to the amount of activity with cruise ships in town. Yes, some of the resorts will be closed for a while, but the rest of us and the cruise ship companies will keep tourism alive and growing. I was pleased to see tourists. I also saw the excursion boats ready for business and anxious to show everyone our beautiful neighbors, snorkeling destinations and the amazing fishing we are known for. In summary, I know that we do not look the same as before the two hurricanes, but we are really good. Our “really good” is better than most other places, and therefore I am proud to welcome guests back to our condo and Island. OUR REGULAR DESCRIPTION: Our unit is fully furnished and comfortably sleeps 4 guests in two fully furnished bedrooms. Amenities include two full bathrooms, a full-sized kitchen, a large living area, two balconies with waterfront views. Modern conveniences of a townhome such as air conditioning, cable TV, ceiling fans and phones are also available. Housekeeping services with fresh towels and linens are provided during your stay. The property has a multi-level freshwater pool that overlooks the Caribbean Sea beach. The condominium is steps away from a wonderful sparkling beach stretching a half mile long. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy whether your preference is relaxing in the sun, riding the waves, snorkeling, paddling, sitting under an umbrella or building a sand castle. Care to try your hand at water sports? Deep sea diving, jet skiing, snorkeling and water excursions are available through vendors at our marina. Our condo is within 5 minutes to Red Hook, an intimate commercial strip packed with novelty stores, clothing shops, bars and restaurants. Passenger and vehicle ferry service to St. John and the British Virgin Islands is also available from Red Hook. As a two bedroom, that is in immaculate condition, we are the best deal at the waterfront of Sapphire Beach!

Views are spectacular. Condo right on beach you can't beat that. It was well furnished and clean. The 2 decks were fabulous to eat breakfast or grill out on. Snorkeling was great-water is so clear we saw 2 spotted rays swim by just standing on the beach. Also saw large ray and loads of fish. Others saw Turtles and even a Reef Shark (but you have to snorkel pretty far out to see those). Beach was very quiet and uncrowded. Close to Red Hook. Suggest renting a car. Went to Tutu Mall for KMart & grocery--would suggest the grocery in Red Hook as Tutu Mall was nasty. Suggest GPS. Suggest taking the Charter to BVI--Virgin Gorda was spectacular as was snorkeling at Diamond Reef. Charter picks you up right at the Sapphire Marina right on the property. Mangrove snorkel, kayak trip is just down the road and was fun. A trip to St. John is a good day trip and worth going to. But if you want to snorkel the BVI is the best place to do that. My only disappointments were the lack of basic condiments for the fridge (it was bare to the bone)--If I had known that I would have packed ketchup and mustard packets in the suitcase. There was not any garbage bags except for the one in the trashcan, no plastic wrap, or storage containers so you could keep your leftovers. So whoever rents next will get a huge supply of bottled water and condiments etc. The mattresses need to be replaced--they are pretty bad. The downstairs shower had no hot water so we all took turns in the upstairs. With all the turmoil with the new owner/management the Dive shop, gift shop, public restrooms, Budget car rental return lot were all closed. Our last day they chased people out closed the pool down! People coming there from the cruise ships (which wasn't very many) didn't have a place to use the restroom except in the ocean and one even went behind a tree. We actually loved the clean beach and it was not crowded. The beach is lighted at night and we felt very safe there. The condo had a good supply of beach stuff. The views were great. Due to the pool closing down & the other amenities not available you may want to negotiate rates. They have restained the 1st building but the rest still need to be done so hopefully that won't happen during your stay. The decks overlook the deck below so you can see the people sitting on their deck which isn't very private. We did have a great time and I hope they can straighten things out there. Lots of interesting info from the locals about that place. 16 March 2014 - 15:31:42

stayed for a week with another couple. plenty of space, and more than enough amenities. Clean and updated. close to red hook (where we ate most nights) and close to grocery stores too. everyone was super friendly. and you're a 2 min walk to sapphire marina which is where a lot of charter tours leave from which was super convenient. We will definitely be staying here again when we revist St. Thomas! 16 May 2014 - 21:45:15

Just returned from an incredible St. Thomas vacation. The Rosskothen home is beautiful, just as it looks in the video. And they are wonderful to work with - professional and very quick to respond to any query. They are in the hospitality industry and it shows. Everything was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The Sapphire Beach location is perfect - the beach there is nice and the condo association provides chairs to those in the condos, it is centrally located, close to Red Hook and the ferry to St. John. Also the Banana Cabana on site serves really good food and a mean BBC. Get something on the rolls. They are delicious. We had a car, but could have just as easily relied on taxis as they were available on the property almost always. Per Linda's recommendation, we brought frozen food with us - filet, chicken, bacon, butter even hummus and some shrimp. It worked out perfectly and we cooked in the condo some evenings and ate on the deck! The view is incredible. And it is smart to bring a few things; groceries are high there (butter was $11 a pound, and boneless chicken is $8 a pound, for example). Thanks to Linda for the tip! We took a day cruise to the BVI right from the Sapphire Marina which was awesome. We also did a day sail with Captain Max our of Red Hook that was our favorite thing, we highly recommend this excursion. Best snorkeling and the Capt. Max sail is very intimate - there is a max of 6 people, we booked with 4 people and were the only one's on the boat. A true experience. Don't miss sunset on the point at Sapphire Beach, the colors are incredible. All in all, we had a great time and can't wait to go back. Our tans are fading, but the memories are still bright! 05 June 2014 - 13:09:04

We were very happy with our stay at this property. The condo was very nice with plenty of room for our group. The kitchen area was a good size with plenty of cooking utensils for making breakfast and lunch. There are two balconies with beautiful views of the beach. At night we either took the ferry to St. John for dinner which was super easy or stayed in Red Hook. You can walk to Red Hook but having a car or taking a taxi is easier. We had a car and easily found parking in Red Hook at night. The beach is incredible! There are beach chairs available for guests and there is a snack shop. The water is nice and calm and the entire bay is picturesque and lovely. You can snorkel right off the beach. I am usually skeptical of snorkeling off of busy beaches as the coral is typically trashed. However the snorkeling here was fantastic. Over to the right of the beach by the point there were huge, pristine fans and lots of gorgeous antler coral. There were tons of fish including several schools of fish you could float over. Further out in the middle of the bay we saw turtles and rays. I was very pleasantly surprised! The building next to our condo is under construction which was fine. They didn't start construction until after 9 am. You could hear it from the beach but it wasn't a big deal at all. The improvements they are doing are going to be nice! I would highly recommend staying here if you visit St. Thomas. I don't think there is a better beach on the island and being close to Red Hook is a huge plus! 08 November 2014 - 18:44:58

We enjoyed our stay at Linda's place. The two level apartment is located right at the beach with a million dollar view. The apartment is quite spacious and accommodated our family of 4 very comfortably. The apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and even had some snorkeling pieces and beach chairs. The kitches is equipped and fully functioning and we cooked a couple of times. My family loves st Thomas and we would love to come back! We highly recommend the apartment! 30 November 2014 - 04:48:56

Love, love, love it. What's not to love about sapphire beach USVI. We left 30 degree cold, dark, cloudy weather to 80 degrees and sunny. Also loved the condo unit. It was well equipped with gorgeous views. We cooked breakfast and lunch almost everyday. Originally when different people said to freeze food and bring it with us I thought that was crazy. But it worked beautifully. I will say food is much more expensive there than where we live. we froze chicken, ground beef, steaks, lunch meat cheeses in a soft sided cooler w/an ice pack. I've had several people tell me to try this. To our surprise everything was still frozen and we didn't have to run to a grocery store after such long day of travel. The condo itself was perfect size for our family of four. I only wish there was a dishwasher but the rest was perfect. If there was anything I would correct/change it would be the snack/bar area at the pool. The pool area is gorgeous. The way it overlooks the sea it's just amazing. But the way that snack shack is boarded up and outdoor furniture all stacked up and closed down looks terrible. It wouldn't stop me from going there cause the place is absolutely amazing. But they need to either open that area up or clean it out, disassemble the place and be done with it. It would look so much better just opened up for people to lay out under. With that said, we loved the condo, the beach, the pool, the view, the snorkeling, the ladies on the beach taking food/drink orders and don't forget the bbq truck at the top of the hill. Omg....so so good. I never ate from a food truck before but so glad I tried it. We went here for my son's collage graduation present. We all had such a great time. We just loved it and wish we could just live there everyday. I also have to say we tried to go to sugar bay for their carnival night. We came very close to staying there. Trust me DON'T DO IT. We lasted about 10 minutes there. That place was a disaster. Extremely bad management and just horrible experience. We met up w some people who were staying there. WOW we felt sorry for them and they were so unhappy. The place was just terrible. Stay at this unit you won't be sorry. We'd love to go back. 01 January 2015 - 03:02:39

This was our fourth time to the island, and we would definitely stay in this condo again!! It was great for the 4 of us, it was stocked with toiletries which was nice. It was a really clean unit compared to another one we had stayed in in the past. Love the view! Love that it was ON the beach and loved that we had 2bed/2bath and 2 floors! We ate breakfast in the condo each day, ordered lunch on the beach, and went out to dinner (Fish Tails, Molly Malones (now under new mngt from Boston!!!) Pesce - all in Red Hook (2min drive) The new market Moe's in Red Hook was SOOOO nice, ordered subs from the deli counter, they were delicious! At the end of the day it was nice coming back to this condo, it was so comfortable. Look forward to staying here again!!! 30 March 2015 - 18:45:40

My wife and I have been coming to St Thomas for 30 years, Sapphire Beach Resort for 15 of those, and this condo is a unique and valuable condo for two reasons: the available beach equipment and the two-bedroom set up. The owners provide top-notch beach equipment, so you don't have to bring your own. There were all kinds of masks and fins, noodles, kick boards, coolers, footballs, volleyballs, etc. Everything we usually have to buy when we go for a beach vacation was there and in excellent condition. There were also 4 of those shortie fold-up beach chairs in the equipment closet--which we like a bit more than chaise lounges. Serious bonus. The second unique asset of this property is the two-bedroom setup. The wifey and I had privacy, and so did our two teenage daughters. That there is good living! This is truly a unique condo in the Sapphire Beach condo community. Do it (and pack lightly)! 06 April 2015 - 01:21:20

My husband, college age son and I stayed for 8 days at SB which was the 3rd time (1st time at this condo) so we were used to the good and bad of SB complex. The following are the pros and cons that we experienced while visiting this time: Pros: 1. Great views from the condo and great location on the island. 2. Great having 2 separate bedrooms and bath rooms when traveling with more than 2 people. 3. The security personal, the attendants at the snack bar and the beach attendants that carry your beach chairs to where ever you want them on SB were all great and very friendly. Cons: 1. The safe in the closet that we were going to use to store our valuables was closed and locked from the previous renters upon arrival (combination only lock) so we immediately reported it to the management office. It took 2 days and 3 trips to the office to finally get someone to come and open the safe. 2. As reported in March 2014 the beds are tired, lumpy and painfully uncomfortable. Just dont expect pillow top supportive type mattresses. The hot water flow in the lower bathroom was very low and not all that hot. 3. There was a plumbing issue in the kitchen where the water was flowing back down the inside of the faucet into the lower cabinet and then onto the kitchen floor. We wanted to mitigate any water damage, so we spent our evening mopping up and drying out the lower cabinet. My husband went to the management office to report the problem and the girl working that evening could only manage to take one ear bud out of her ear to inform us that there was no plumber and we would need to contact the owners of the condo, which we promptly did. It turns out the problem was a loose connection that my husband was able to fix. I was just glad it was not something more serious. 4. The unit below us was being renovated so we got to listen to tile saws and general construction noise. 5. The management office personal the owner hired that we encountered were not helpful and acted bothered whenever we entered to exchange beach towels or tried to resolve the above problems already mentioned. We even had to go to the office 2 times just to get a trash bag for the kitchen. Very annoying and unprofessional. 27 May 2015 - 11:59:20

Paradise is truly the perfect description for this condo and location. Loved waking up everyday to the beautiful view. Morning tea on the balcony is definitely the perfect start to the day. Breakfast and lunch were made easy with the fully stocked kitchen. From the drawer loaded with utensils and gadgets to the blender for afternoon treats. The closet full of beach amenities was truly a bonus , with all the snorkeling gear, coolers, balls, floats and beach chairs. Chairs perfect for traveling to other beaches. We visited Magan's Bay and Honeymoon Beach on St John, the rest of the days we just stayed put on Saphire Beach. Definitely recommend this condo. We will be back ! 27 May 2015 - 11:31:18

Our family absolutely loved your condo and the Sapphire Beach resort. The view was gorgeous from the decks. Thank you for supplying snorkel gear and other beach items. The reefs just off the beach were full of sea life. The location being just 1 mile from Red Hook was very convenient for restaurants, bars, grocery store and the ferries. Some very minor negatives: the downstairs a/c seemed to struggle to keep the floor cool. The pool was nice but there wasn't any food or bar area around it. It could be that construction will soon happen to that area. And all the bars and food stands on the beach shut down by 5:00pm. There were a few nights where we wanted a pia colada and couldn't easily get one without driving to Red Hook. 13 June 2015 - 17:24:52

Very clean, fully equipped condo with a location that can't be beat! The view from the deck was spectacular, the beach front was kept in pristine condition by the staff and the location of the condo was convenient for shopping, boating and dining excursions. We will definitely be back! 16 December 2015 - 13:36:44
  14. My family and I were looking for a safe, clean, fun, and beautiful vacation spot and man did we luck out. The house was perfect. The two bedrooms fit my family of four comfortably, two bathrooms allowed us all to have enough privacy, full kitchen and living room gave us space to enjoy family meals, and the two balconies overlooking the gorgeous beach, water, and islands in the distance took our breath away. The mid week clean revitalized and refreshened the house which is a great touch. The house provides beach chairs, noodles, snorkeling gear, etc. which made our beach days that much better. There's a bar and a rental place for beach ammenities at the start of the public beach about a hundred yards down from the private beach. There's a volleyball court in the middle of the private beach and a pool at the other end. You are not far from the shops and restuarants. An absolute must rent and a place to truly make memories for you and your family. 24 January 2017 - 15:09:14

We had the pleasure of staying at the Rosskothen's condo for a quick getaway from a very cold and snowy winter. The condo was absolutely perfect, very clean and inviting. The views from the deck were absolutely breathtaking. The owners supplied beach chairs, cooler and snorkel gear for a day at the beach. The beach and pool are right out your back door. Having the 2 bedroom unit was very convient when traveling with kids and the beds were really comfortable. The unit has been updated recently and you can tell the owners put a lot of time and effort into it. Whenever we had any questions they were very quick to respond. I wish we had stayed longer to enjoy all the condo and the resort had to offer. I would recommend staying at this condo. Can't wait to return to Sapphire Beach! 27 February 2017 - 00:28:00

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely, well-appointed condo. Magnificent view from the balconies, where we enjoyed evening cocktails and morning coffee as we watched the palm trees sway and listened to the waves lap at the shore. Everything we needed was there. The views are peaceful and majestic. There are many restaurants in Red Hook and Moe's is a great, upscale grocery store with plenty of fresh produce and healthy foods. We loved the sushi at Fish Tails -- the best we have ever had. It was great being so close to the ferry to St. John, where we went for a day and visited Trunk Bay -- breathtaking. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation at a condo that is well-maintained, nicely decorated and with the beach outside your door, this is it. 24 February 2016 - 02:16:58

This condo is wonderful and easily accommodated 2 couples comfortably. The views are outstanding from both balconies and there was very few people on the beach and at the pool which made it feel like our own private oasis. You can see the old fleetwood mac home from the condo and the snorkeling was impressive, this was the only place out of all the islands we visited where I actually got to see a sea turtle. Having the snorkels and cooler available to us from the condo was so convenient. The condo is in close proximity to Red Hook where most of the night life takes place. We met people who came from the other side of the island every night to eat and drink, and we were lucky enough to be less than a mile away. We did end up renting a jeep our second day there as we wanted to see as much of the island as possible in the short time we had . The first day we spent quite a bit of money on cabs so we decided renting was worth it. Had we to do it again we would have rented a jeep straight from the airport and saved that money too. Driving on the other side wasnt too hard because the traffic moves slow and we got to spend as much or as little time wherever we wanted. I would definitely recommend packing the cooler and snorkels and visting Magans Bay for half a day and then driving up to the mountain top for a breathtaking view! As far as the condo itself goes, they are nicely maintained and the grounds staff are friendly and will offer directions or tips on where to go. The pool is pretty and offers great views but you can tell that it had a bar next to it at one time and that has been since boarded up which is a shame. There is a beach bar with bar food within walking distance, and you can always cook or keep snacks in the condo. The other con was not being able to use dryer, it was currently out of commission, and because of all the water/beach activities we did and taking frequent showers , we ran out of dry towels quickly. We just placed our wet items outside on the balcony and let the island breeze dry them! No worries. Thank you for letting us stay in your condo, I highly recommend this home to anyone staying in St Thomas whether you are planning to explore or just relax by the condo, it is perfect. 27 July 2017 - 17:51:00

We were the first to rent this condo post-hurricane and we were very pleased with the overall condition of the property and of the island in general. The condo itself was well-appointed with all we needed-especially some of the extras like the snorkeling equipment and cooler. Cannot beat the view from both patio balconies! The pool was not able to be used yet but the ocean temp. was so nice we didn't mind. Red Hook (5 minutes by car) had what we wanted in terms of a variety of restaurants and grocery stores...most of which are up and running and most places took credit cards although some are still cash only (which is no problem because there is an ATM machine close by). Make sure to take the ferry from Red Hook over to St. John and hike up to Lind Point-beautiful views! Peter and Linda are very easy and helpful to work with and went out of their way to make sure everything was in order before we arrived. We definitely want to return to St. Thomas in the next year or so and we will most definitely rent this condo! 23 December 2017 - 18:49:00
