The cottage is both clean and comfortable, and the location is perfect: far enough from Amsterdam city center to be quiet and rural, but close enough to be quite convenient. The neighborhood is charming and includes a local organic market with a wonderful selection of fruits, vegetables, meat, cheese, bread, and household items. Having a bicycle is truly wonderful and allows guests to enjoy Holland the way the locals do - on two wheels! You can take a short 15-minute ride to a free ferry that takes you directly to Central Station in Amsterdam's center, or you can ride into the country and explore charming Dutch villages. The hosts are incredibly helpful and provide maps, brochures, and travel guides to assist you in planning your vacation. Preparing your own meals is easy in the fully stocked kitchen, and you can enjoy your meals on a private outdoor patio. The bed is comfortable, and the quiet neighborhood allows for a great night's sleep. The cottage exceeded my expectations, and I look forward to a return visit. 16 June 2013 - 22:58:05

This property is outside the city centre & provides a quiet sanctuary to come home to on your vacation. The cottage is nicely decorated with attention to detail, thoughtful touches like good coffee & tea, spices & olive oil if you want to cook, lovely dishes to serve in! Great market down the road for serious foodies, bikes available & tram into the city core. Wonderful hosts concerned on a warm spell that we had lighter sheets for sleeping & advice for attractions when we were travelling outside the city core. The pleasure of starting our day sitting outside with our coffee in the beautiful gardens made this a special experience! 06 July 2013 - 13:24:31

We absolutely loved our time at Bed and Bike Amsterdam. It is in a beautiful quiet location, yet only half an hour to get right to the heart of the city centre by bike and ferry. Carla and Anrik were the perfect hosts, always on hand to give useful advice and swap stories at the end or start of the day. The cottage is beautiful, very clean, stylish and well equipped. If you are thinking of booking Bed and Bike Amsterdam, don't hesitate another minute- just do it!!! 21 April 2014 - 10:18:58

Beautiful house in a beautiful place. We stayed for three days in April and regretted that we could not stay longer. Very cozy and clean house with everything you might need inside. We were greeted by Anrik and his wife who offered fruits, wine and a local beer. Travel to the centre of Amsterdam is very easy and enjoyable. Really nice ride on a bike and 5 min by free ferry or 20 min walk to a tram and 7 min on a tram. As a result-free parking, free bike and free travel (if you choose the first option). Max 30 min to central station. 10 min walk from the house is a local supermarket with very good quality local food and a nice cafe were you can get freshly made breakfast. Anrik was very helpful in supplying us with travel guides, maps and explaining in detail were to go and what to see. We are now planning to come back on a cycling trip for a week. Highly recommended! 16 May 2014 - 20:54:21

We loved Garden House in North Amsterdam! The little house is so pretty, situated in a quiet residential neighbourhood, within a beautiful garden [changed from this picture, it is now filled with flowers which attract butterflies!]. The location was easy to reach, using the very good links to public transit on the web site. There is a great market in easy walking distance, selling all kinds of delicious food/produce, as well as a cafe. Getting in and out of either Amsterdam [bike along the bike path and free ferry to the central station] or the surrounding countryside is very easy, there are bikes provided [very typical Dutch bikes] and cycling in the NL is fantastic! A washing machine would have been lovely, however, there is a good washing line and the weather was perfect so all our washing dried in the sunshine! Our hosts were away, but the neighbours we were given 2 neighbours as contacts and they were very helpful. We loved being part of this welcoming community and hope to return. 05 October 2014 - 18:24:50

Access to transportation is easy so location in North Amsterdam is ideal for quiet sleep and possible visit to countryside. The owners are the most wonderful hosts with helpful tips, maps and suggestions. I will return here if I am fortunate to visit the area again. 13 November 2014 - 02:07:21

Anrik and Carla are amazing hosts. They were warm and friendly right from our arrival. We took the train to Central Station from the airport, and then simply took a taxi from there to the home because we were tired from our 12 hours of travelling. It was 23 euro for the taxi. Upon arrival we were greeted with Carla's warm smile at the front door. The home and property are beautiful! She walked us around into their large garden area where we were lead into a wonderful newly built cottage. The temperature was warm inside, and a nice bottle of red wine and a few pilsners awaited our arrival. We showered off in the wonderful hot shower, and put on the warm robes supplied by these thoughtful hosts (we have stayed in many VRBO's over the years and these two have really put a lot of thought into the smallest of details which can help to make a stay so comfortable). After enjoying the bottle of wine we had a nice long nap! Then it was off on the bicycles to explore town. What fun! There are a few routes into town, but we choose the route which included the free ferry. It is a very pleasant 20 minute bike ride on cobblestoned bike paths to the ferry. We chose to park the bikes before getting on the ferry most days and then walk throughout town. The ferry takes about 5 minutes and takes you straight to Central Station. From the station everything in the city is accessible either by foot, trolley, or metro. Closer to the house we enjoyed riding the bikes into the Waterlands and all of the nearby countryside towns. The local market/restaurant is very high quality and well priced. It has everything you could need and is only a 10 minute stroll along the waterfront. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are already planning our next visit!! Thanks again to both Anrik and Carla for helping to make our trip so wonderful!! 19 November 2014 - 18:07:35

This was a warm, lovely and charming place - just like our the accommodation owner. We stayed three days with two teenage daughters - and would gladly return. Anrik, our host, was helpful, informative and kind - nothing seemed too much trouble for him. The bikes he gave us - included in the cost - were in good condition and we enjoyed cycling the route to the ferry into Amsterdam. The accommodation was attractive-looking and clean, with nice decor and beautifully warm in a chilly Amsterdam, thanks to underfloor heating and good insulation. The sofabed was comfortable and very easy to take out and put away. A great short stay - too short for us! Thank you very much, Anrik. 23 February 2015 - 08:15:51

Anrik and Carla are wonderful hosts ! They supplied very good bikes and it was an easy 5 minute ride to Tram 26 into town or I could have rode 7 km (4 miles) on bikes paths to Central Station in Amsterdam, approx. 20 minute bike ride. I rode the bike out to the sea, past Durgerdam and along the dikes. It was beautiful. The guest cottage is lovely and cozy. Thank you Anrik and Carla for all your help and say hello to Reuben, who gave good advice too :) 09 May 2015 - 17:05:50
  11. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Anrik and Carla's cottage. It was quiet, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed and more. The location was most pleasant and we made several trips to the lovely nearby market. The bikes were put to good use for touring Amsterdam. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this cottage to others. 17 May 2015 - 00:20:24

While this romantic garden house is not centrally located to Amsterdam, it provides a relaxing atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle and yet only a twenty minute bike ride away from everything Amsterdam has to offer. The accommodation is private and comfortable with excellent living space, a comfortable and clean bathroom and an excellent outdoor terrace. The provision of free bicycles is an essential bonus as they provide easy access to the city in addition to the ability to explore the beautiful cycling tracks of the country side. This is highly recommended to adventurous travellers wanting a true Dutch experience. The local market is only 300m away and has an amazing selection of fresh produce including pastries, bread, fruit and veg and all other necessities. In combination with the excellent cooking facilities provided by Anrik, the budget conscious traveller will be satisfied. The hospitality of Anrik is warm and inviting and his knowledge of the local area was very informative. We stayed for four nights as part of a five month trip around Europe and had a great time. We look forward to staying here again one day in the future. 17 June 2015 - 18:30:37

Do not get spooked by the fact it is situated across the river from Amsterdam: it takes all of twenty minutes to reach Central Station by tramway, which is the heart of the city. Amsterdam is lovely but busy and Noisy and it is a charm to come back to your own little corner of paradise. On the way to the house, you can stop at a great supermarket and say hello to the three horses in the field and the ten ducks in the canal. The cottage is very well appointed and the owner ready to help. I recommend a stay in this lovely location. 12 October 2015 - 21:17:27

A really nice and romantic place! The garden house is owned by a very friendly guy, if it is your first time in Amsterdam he will assist you with all information you'll need. The house is very clean, well furnitured and has a great kitchen as well. We just can recommend to stay at this place!!! 20 October 2015 - 09:32:47

A beautiful house, very personally and well furnitured. In the kitchen you can cook for a whole family! A good place to be with bycicles, the ferries take you fast to Central Station. The house is a little paradise, quiet and romantic, with a sunny terasse. The owner is very nice and gives good advice for your trips. We will come back soon!!! 22 October 2015 - 19:02:27

This cozy cottage surrounded by beautiful gardens, sitting areas, and a fenced in yard, maked you feel like you are in your own piece of paradise. Right from the start of our booking process, Anrik was helpful and responded right away to any questions we had. Upon arrival Anrik was so helpful showing us maps and tour books especially seeing how it was our first visit to amsterdam. The supermarket one block away had an incredible selection of breads, cheese, meats, and anything else that you would need. The bikes were wonderful allowing us to explore the miles of bike paths which are right out your cottage door! The cottage was clean and everything you needed was right there. We especially enjoyed our housecoats which made us feel like we were at a spa! And a lovely bottle of wine made us feel like we had just arrived home! We enjoyed our days touring a very "busy" amsterdam so it was extremely refreshing at the end of the day to come home to such a peaceful relaxed spot. ....and only a short tram ride brought us to our piece of paradise! We so enjoyed our stay...wish it had been longer. We will be back and we will let others know of your beautiful cottage ! Thank you for sharing your cottage with us. 03 November 2015 - 00:41:19

We loved our stay in this gardenhouse. Cosy, it had all the comforts of all small home. The cottage and general location were a great place to relax after a spending the day visiting downtown Amsterdam. We had no car and commuting to and from downtown/Schipol airport was easy. You really feel you are in the countryside, about 25-30 mins. from the Amsterdam's train station. Bikes are available at the cottage to ride around, a nice touch. We even spent a day in the immediate area, watching boats clearing the locks and walking along the river. Beds are comfortable and amenities were complete. Note the room upstairs is accessed using a steep staircase/ladder --something to note for people with mobility issues. The small supermarket nearby has everything you would need and a nice little restaurant. No regrets whatsoever renting this property and would do so again. 14 November 2016 - 12:11:31

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage just outside Amsterdam. Convenient to get in to the city, but enough removed to enjoy the quieter side of the country. The cottage is well stocked and all of the bed linens are super comfy. Highly recommend. 08 July 2017 - 23:16:00
