My husband and I recently stayed in this beautiful apartment for 4 nights. This apartment presents even better than in the pictures on line. It is immaculately clean and very comfortable with everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed coming back in the evening after a busy day of sightseeing. The apartment is well situated with lots of good restaurants nearby and easily accessible transit. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Amsterdam. 28 September 2014 - 13:52:56
  2. I just returned from a 1 and half week stay in Amsterdam over New Years and can not be more thankful that I chose to stay at the City Calm 2 apartment. It is in a beautiful upscale neighborhood with a good balance of boutique shops, restaurants, and easy walking proximity to most of Amsterdam's points of interest. The area is not touristy or loud at all and it really made me and my traveling partner feel as though we were at home. I live in New York City and can best equate the location to a home in Brooklyn Heights or the West Village, close to lots of attractions but authentic enough to really get a non-touristy home/ neighborhood feel. The apartment was great for lounging on rainy days and kept very tidy and clean. It was an excellent experience to stay in this apartment and would easily put this at the top of my recommendation list when visiting Amsterdam. 01 February 2012 - 22:01:35

If you're like me, you've been looking at hundreds of apartments on a dozen different websites looking for that "perfect" one. I was looking for the "charm" and "location" to make my first visit to Amsterdam special. What's equally important is finding prompt responses to inquiries and establishing a comfort-zone with the rental process. Before I discuss the apartment, I'd like to speak about the owner of "City Calm 2", Susan. From my first inquiry I felt "that extra mile" and it continued our entire stay. When we arrived she provided us a city map and showed us great restaurants as well as locations for our booked activites. She even met us early the morning of our departure to thank us for our booking. She was the reason I selected City Calm-2 above the others and I didn't regret it for a moment. Now, as for the apartment...It's absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The furnishings are high class and the bedroom is one of the prettiest I've seen. Susan has already thought of the tinest thing so don't panic about forgetting something, it's most likely there. The apartment is on a cross of two streets, one over from a canal. I loved looking out all the windows at other homes I had only seen in magazines. The apartment is as close to perfect as it gets....I LOVED it, loved it, loved it! 17 September 2012 - 17:12:47

My wife and I stayed in this charming and well stocked apartment for 3 nights. The apartment is a corner apartment with very large windows. Lots of light. The toilet is separate from the bath/shower room and both have sinks. The bed is comfortable as are all the chairs and sofa. Susan was very helpful in going over in detail the apartment, surrounding area and attractions. We ate at the Pancake bakery and loved it. The apartment is a 10 minute walk from Centraal station. Don't miss the Anne Frank huis, but do buy reserved tickets on-line to avoid waiting in the line. Walking the canals is very relaxing, but watch out for the bicyclist. I am told they have the ultimate right of way and they ride like they own the road. 23 September 2012 - 21:05:28

Beautifully presented, windows on two sides mean it's bathed in light all day, spotlessly clean and generously stocked. A very quiet location between two canals, 10 minutes walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station, so you can wheel your suitcases easily - the directions provided by Susan were very clear. The kitchen is fully equipped and a good supermarket is nearby. The coffee maker was the only thing that didn't work, but the espresso in Amsterdam is so good it didn't matter. The narrow stairway is very steep, but OK if you're not disabled. 09 October 2012 - 13:38:11

We stayed in the apartment 4 nights and were delighted with our choice. The apartment is very clean, well appointed and well stocked, making it a home away from home. The bed is comfortable with good quality linens. Reviewing the posted photos and description, reminds me of how lovely the apartment is. The location is excellent: quiet, close to train station, groceries, restaurants etc and within walking distance of sights. Franklin was very helpful in orienting us. Would stay again and would recommend. The stairs would be an issue for anyone with mobility issues. 17 April 2013 - 02:40:37

My husband and I stayed in the top floor city calm apartment for three nights at the end of June. The apartment was even lovelier than the photos. It is situated on the top floor of a small townhouse. The living area is a corner windowed room filled with light. The street is very quiet although it is in the midst of the bustling canal district and within walking distance to everything (museums, restaurants, train station, shops, outdoor market etc). The apartment was spotlessly clean and outfitted with a tasteful mix of antiques and modern furniture. It is thoughtfully stocked with coffee, tea, spices, fluffy towels and smooth sheets. The kitchen is perfect, stocked with everything you need for meal preparation (although there are also lovely restaurants everywhere in town). The apartment is up several flights so keep this in mind. It was no trouble at all for us. The apartment has no formal closet but plenty of hangers and a hanging rack for things that you feel need to be stored that way, but really, this is a minor thing. The bathroom setup is nice in that there is a separate watercloset with toilet and sink, then separate room for shower and sink. Although it was only two of us, the extra bit of privacy is nice. Susan, the American owner, sat with us for some time to go over details regarding the area and the apartment. She is a wealth of information. The apartment is within walking distance from train station and Amsterdam is so civilized that it is quite simple to take the commuter train directly from the airport into town. No need at all for a car or taxi. Contacting Susan via email and phone was straightforward and easy. She gave always very clear, detailed directions. She lives in the same building so I would imagine is very accessible if you have questions. This is an extremely comfortable, quiet, clean and charming apartment. We are so grateful for our stay here. Thank you Susan. 17 September 2013 - 18:42:30

I love this place. I have stayed here on several occasions and this place is elegant, fresh, and with everything you need. It is right where you want to be and Susan is helpful and welcoming. Hope it doesn't become too popular as this is my go-to place in Amsterdam. 02 June 2014 - 10:06:07

Thank you Susan for your hospitality in allowing us to rent your apartment for a week in October. The apartment was well situated, on a very quiet street accessible to all the sites that you would want to see in Amsterdam, and 10 min walk from the train station makes easy access to and from the airport, and a quick train ride out to other surrounding destinations. 03 November 2017 - 14:38:00

I have been traveling to Amsterdam several times a year, for the past 10 years, to visit family and enjoy the city. I have stayed at a variety of hotels and B&B's and was so happy to discover City Calm 2 three years ago. I spent a month there this past summer and it just felt like home. I am returning for New Years this year and can't wait. Susan is fabulous and I feel like we have become friends over the course of my visits. I look forward to seeing her as much as my family. The location is perfect and the apartment has absolutely everything you could possibly need. 05 December 2014 - 23:23:13

My husband and I stayed at City Calm 2 for 4 nights in late April 2016. We were extremely happy with this apartment. It was quaint and had character, while also being clean and with all mod cons. It was cosy without being cramped, and light and airy but easy to keep warm. Susan, the owner, was very helpful in the planning phase but was overseas during our stay. Franklin, who was our greeter and contact person in her absence, was lovely. He carried our luggage up 2 flights of stairs (we left 2 large suitcases and 1 roll aboard one on the ground floor when we arrived at 8am) so when we arrived at noon the apartment was ready for us to move in and we didnt have to cart heavy cases! This was very much appreciated as we had just travelled over 30 hours from Australia, arriving at the airport at 7.30am, and then had to wander around the city for 2 hours while previous guests checked out and apartment was cleaned. (which we knew would be the case) The apartment is located in a great spot. It is less than 10 mins walk from Centraal Station, but is in a small street so is very very quiet and peaceful. Some great restaurants and cafes close by, around 5 mins walk, with great TA reviews. 5 mins walk to supermarket, 5 mins to Jordaan area, 10-15 mins to Dam Square, red light district nearby too, but not so close to be evident when in the apartment and surrounding streets. We also really appreciated that Susan provided lots of provisions and items that are often not included in apartments, which saved us from having to do a big shop at the supermarket on the first day only to leave them behind - e.g., coffee, tea and sugar, oil and spices, paper towel, laundry and dishwashing/dishwasher detergent, several rolls of toilet paper, just to name a few. We would stay there again in a heartbeat! 29 April 2016 - 16:10:54

Susan's City Calm apartment rental was perfect! The location was a wonderful starting experience to our Amsterdam trip. Less than 10 minutes from Centraal Station made arrival and departure a breeze! Minutes from the local tram station made inner-city travel even better! Surrounded by locals and residences, and close to everything convenient for travelers wanting to explore the beautiful city. Susan was extremely kind to allow an early check-in, and took time from her morning to review the City map with us, recommend restaurants, and suggest alternate activities. She was very gracious in hosting us in her home. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed to start our morning, and end our evening in relaxation. Like a home away from home! Highly recommend! 05 December 2017 - 14:16:00

We loved this apartment for the two of us. It was a great location (about a 15 minute walk from the train station but you are then in a very quiet neighborhood). Susan was wonderful and the apartment was great! 20 December 2017 - 18:06:00

We had a wonderful stay at this apartment for our honeymoon :) We were able to spend 10 days in Amsterdam and the location of this rental is perfect, yet quiet enough. The hosts are great to work with and the apartment is well stocked. Thank you Franklin for everything! 02 January 2018 - 21:44:00
