About listing

There is “no place like home”, and no place like this “home away from home”. With about a 360 degree water view…two private pocket beaches…inviting pier… wrap around deck…spacious interior… fully equipped kitchen…are all the ingredients for an amazing family memory. Our home is perfect for your family vacation. It is and has been a memory maker for our family for many years. There's a special feeling of "home" as you walk in. Immediately you are captivated by the expansive view of the Patuxent River. Step out on the deck; the view to your left is entrance to the Chesapeake Bay, straight across Patuxent Naval Air Station, then to the right Thomas Johnson Bridge to St. Mary's county. In fact, there’s a view from every window! Mornings are beautiful with an always new sunrise over the Chesapeake Bay. To top off a perfect day pull your chair up for another spectacular sunset! You have a front row seat for both events. Two pocket beaches for enjoying the sun or taking a dip. You’ll find children spend the day searching for treasures, building sand castles or swimming! The large pier can accommodate many folks for fishing or crabbing and moorage for small boat, with shallow draft. Take a seat on the bench and wait for that fish to bite! Reel him in and clean him in the pier sink! Our guests rave about our amenities, including appliances, spices, linens, towels, games, toys and the list goes on. Choose to prepare meals at home? You will be pleased with a very well equipped kitchen and plenty of room for helpers too! A gas grill sits in the corner garden area. A cool spot in the evening and very peaceful. Take a stroll down the boardwalk, check out quaint shops, ice cream shops, kids playground , gazebo, and public restrooms. Great restaurants for dining in or out, ice cream shops (2), charter boat fishing, boat and kayak rentals. New to THE PIER is a wine tasting room. See the welcome book for more info on restaurants in the area. The Calvert Marine Museum offers interactive play for kids. The exhibits are informative and historical. Don’t miss the otters! You can go through the Drum Point Lighthouse and take a daily cruise on the Tennison up the Patuxent River. The Oyster Museum is on island…oysters were and still harvested on the River. About 2 miles to Dowell Road you will find Anne Marie Gardens on St. John’s River. Beautiful sculptures along wooded trails, many things to do and see, don’t miss this. There are many opportunities for “day trips”. Washington DC and Annapolis are within an hour. Please stop by the Solomon’s Island Tourist information center just as you come down the island. You’ll find a plethora of materials for all Southern Maryland and surrounding areas. If you would like a relaxing, laid back and peaceful vacation, this is the place. Most folks “just hang out” at the house and enjoy the activity and scenes on the water. Seems there is always something new to see in this beautiful and private setting.

The house was great!! You can't beat the location, my 5 young children hated to leave. Will definitely consider again. 26 August 2016 - 12:27:00

We were there for a batchelorette party weekend. It couldn't have been better. This house is so well appointed. We enjoyed morning sunrises and afternoon sunsets on the expansive decks. We brought kayak and paddled around the point. We walked into the quaint town for shopping and lunch. The famous key lime pie at Lotus Cafe did not disappoint. We enjoyed the decks so much we ordered dinner in. Also, the owner Lynda is so gracious. We will definitely be looking into renting this amazing home again. I give it a 10+! 13 September 2016 - 11:05:00

Lynda was very helpful in helping me organize a ladies weekend for my birthday. The house could have not been anymore perfect for a relaxing getaway with 6 ladies. The location is nothing short of incredible! Each room seems to have a better view than the last. You really feel like you are in a home of a family member- comfortable and welcoming! Thank you Lynda for a wonderful weekend!!! 05 April 2016 - 18:50:00

Everything was as expected. This is the perfect place for our family to gather and enjoy the beautiful views this home has to offer. Our two week stay was extremely peaceful. The view of the fireworks were spectacular from the pier. Thank you Lynda for opening your home to vacationers. Hopefully we will back next year! 13 July 2017 - 13:14:00

Wonderful property in an incredible setting. So close to everything Solomons Island has to offer and yet very private due to its position on the very point of the island. It was especially fun to watch the ospreys fishing right in front of the windows. The house has everything you need for great family vacation. 18 April 2016 - 18:34:00

This is an amazing property! A very spacious home with incredible waterfront panorama from inside the home & the wrap-around deck at water's edge. We loved it here, an absolutely ideal location on lovely Solomon's Island. We slept with the slider door open & listened to the waves lightly lapping the shore, lulling us to sleep. We have enjoyed Solomon's many times but this was truly a special treat. The home is cheerfully decorated with great colors throughout. It can accommodate many for than our small family of three (at the time) - but our toddler son loved being so close to the water. If you have the opportunity to stay here, I'd recommend it highly!! 14 February 2014 - 01:20:18

Sandy Point Haven is the most welcoming vacation home we have ever rented. This amazing home sits at the best spot of Solomon's Island with wrap around views...breathtaking sunrises over the Chesapeake and sunsets over the river. The home is very open and spacious so the 9 of us did not feel crowded. Lots of seating, including the large dining table, for game playing & family talk time. Upstairs is a relaxing retreat or play area for the kids. The kitchen is to die for...4 adults (or one grandma and 4 kids) can pitch in for meal prep. This kitchen has everything you need. Our kids loved playing on the private beach and Papa made some great dinner catches from the pier. I wish we had a boat to tie up to the dock. The shops and restaurants of Solomon's are just a stroll away. Do'"t miss the ice cream shop! I strongly recommend a visit to the Maritime Museum. 13 March 2014 - 05:59:00

My family and I stayed here for a week in June. The house has the best views at Solomans hands down. Every room has a view of the water and the deck surrounds the house like a big hug. It's a view I could look at forever. The house itself is comfortable and well appointed. We loved having laundry facilities because my husband fished every day! Everything in the house turns into a bed, most of them pretty comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots, pans and even spices. If you're one of those people who has to stay connected the internet is a bit slow and not always stable but worked well enough for email etc... The house is within walking distance of restaurants and a few shops and a couple miles to all the big box stores. Overall a wonderful experience - relaxing, beautiful and well appointed. And the homeowner was a charming host. We would definitely come back again and again. 19 June 2014 - 11:21:29
  10. I have been to this property many times over the years and it never disappoints! The view is phenomenal and the bay breeze is very refreshing on hot summer days! We enjoyed the private beach and kayaking right from the beach! The dock was the perfect spot for the Fourth of July fireworks, spectacular! The kitchen is especially well equipped, we prepared all of our meals and were able to find everything we needed including spices galore. There isn't a better spot on this island in my opinion! We can't wait to go back :-) 06 July 2014 - 21:32:05
  11. Sandy Point is a little piece of heaven on earth. The house is open and airy and very beautifully decorated. The wrap around deck is so inviting. We ate our evening meals there and thoroughly enjoyed the beauty all around us. The spacious kitchen was equipped with everything you would need. We enjoyed our walks all around the island, kayacking {major fun},playing cards in the afternoon and watching the spectacular fireworks from the dock. The views were breathtaking. Sleeping with the sliders open, listening to the sounds of the water and the tranquil breeze was so very peaceful. Wonderful memories of a weekend spent with very special friends- relaxing and enjoying life. Thank you, Lynda, for sharing your beautiful home with us. 07 July 2014 - 20:52:14

Great week with family and friends. The house provided the most amazing and perfect back drop. It was well decorated, clean and equipped with everything we could need. The views are beautiful. We will definitely be back. 17 July 2014 - 14:35:18

We stayed here the first week of June 2014, and it was the perfect place for our family. We brought our boat and kept it tied up on the dock, and used it everyday to go exploring on the back creeks, out to dinner at the Dry Dock, and tubing in the river. There are crab pots available, and we used those during the week and were able to steam our own crabs! Views from the wrap around deck are gorgeous - you can see sunrises and sunsets from different vantage points! This is definitely a house for entertaining guests. Plenty of outdoor furniture! We also saw Wednesday night regattas, went kayaking, stand up paddleboarding (you can rent them at Patuxent Adventure Center), and walked to the local (excellent!) restaurants. We went shopping at the local antique restaurants, walked to the Calvert Marine Museum, and running around the island and on the boardwalk - cars are not needed for the week at all! The house is amazing, fully equipped, with room for everyone, water views from every single room, and quaint, homey touches from the owners. We wish we could buy this house! Thanks Lynda! 22 July 2014 - 13:37:16

Wonderful, wonderful place. It was perfect for our two families. My 7 year old sat on the back deck and cried over having to leave and my 4 year old asked why our "real" house was not like the Solomon's Island house? Such an easy trip from the DC area and lots to explore around Solomon's. This house met all our expectations. 18 August 2014 - 03:16:53

This house and location is by far the best we have ever stayed for the water views and access. The pictures and descriptions do not do it justice. We spent our time sitting on the dock, on the deck and by the windows enjoying the ever changing views. Where else could you sit in the same spot to watch the sun rise and the sun set?? It is conveniently located within walking distance to a wide variety of restaurants but we never wanted to leave. Because it is located so close to Washington, DC family members, who could not take an entire week off work, were able to join us for just a few days at a time. Thank you so much for sharing your house with us, we felt so at home. We will definitely come back! 03 November 2014 - 12:36:12

The home is incredible. 270 degrees of water with a beautiful view from every single room. It is spectacular and must be seen! We have a small daughter and there was everything she needed available. Plenty of space for several couples or multiple families. Really a top notch place, you will not be disappointed. 24 November 2014 - 02:49:30

My family; husband, 4 children and 3 grandchildren had a WONDERFUL time here. The house was beautiful, clean and very roomy, accommodated the 11 of us very well. The view was amazing with being able to view the sunrise AND sunset. We took a day trip into DC. We all absolutely loved it. 14 August 2015 - 19:37:10

Fantastic views as you are aware! Family friendly for all ages. Kids immediately started crabbing and fishing from the pier. They enjoyed riding bikes to get bait and ice cream daily. Sail boat races were so much fun on Weds. and Thurs. evening. One of our best vacations ever.......
