About listing

I LOVE my flat in Berlin, and so will you !!! This is a comfortable and chic Charlottenburg home that invites respect and consideration by its guests. Located on a quiet tree-lined street just steps from the famous 'Kurfuerstendamm' ( nickname: 'Ku-Damm' ) in a typical Berliner 'Altbau' ( older building ), you will find the charm of the 1920's. Wide plank flooring, woodwork, moldings, stucco detailing, high ceilings, double french doors and windows are just some of its charm. The eat-in kitchen features a gas-stove, convection oven, refrigerator/freezer, a washing machine, and comes fully equipped with chef's cooking utensils. The tiled bathroom provides a tub-shower combination. In the large bedroom, you will sleep comfortably in a large bed, and there is a wardrobe to store away your items. The living-room has about 260 sf ( 24 square meters ), an additional day-bed, and you will enjoy the sweet balcony on warm days. There are gas-radiators in each room. The flat is 62 square meters and will easily sleep 2 to 4. W-Lan ( Wi-FI ) and TV with DVD collection, included in the rate. 'Away from Home', you will feel very much AT HOME in this sophisticated Charlottenburg flat. You will be provided w/ detailed information as to where to ring upon your arrival, w/ the information of a local contact, and a map of the building. As this is a PRIVATE rental, the on-site manager will be unable to assist you - but your local contact will. Very close to 'Adenauer Platz' ( Underground, U7 ), the S-Bahn station of 'Charlottenburg', as well as several Bus-Lines going up and down the 'Ku-Damm'. Everywhere, there are parks, markets, cafes, restaurants, grocery stores and shops of all kind. Children's play grounds can also be found nearby. Tipp ( my favorite ): 'Stuttgarter Platz' (which the Berliner calls 'Stutti') I am looking forward to hosting you in Berlin.

Lovely apartment with lots of room for 2-4 people. Katherine kept us well informed by text message on day of arrival and met us at the local "S" train station that is 7 minutes walk from the apartment. The apartment is easy to find and situated in a great location with lots of eating places and local shops just around the corner. Public transport gets you to the centre of Berlin with 20-30 minutes. The apartment is situation on first floor in the centre of the block overlooking a square courtyard. It's very quite and all the windows overlook the courtyard. The apartment is well equipped with cooker, washing machine, fridge, TV, ironing board etc. You can have a pleasant evening or day off site seeing and feel that your at home. If you like space and not a shoe box in a hotel this is the place for you. 12 September 2016 - 09:59:23

We stayed in Berlin for three weeks in November when Berlin begins its holiday season. Katherines apartment is located adjacent to the famed KuDamm all lit and decorated for the holidays. It is perfectly situated to enjoy Berlin. We were not only close to the subway but also to the bus lines which stopped almost at our front door and took us anywhere we wanted to go. The apartment itself is very large, warm and comfortable. The bed was king size; the shower was hot; the kitchen was very well stocked, the internet was fast and reliable, and the appliances were all easy to use. There is a supermarket very close by and many retail stores, restaurants and bakeries within walking distance. Katherine and her family were so very nice to us during our stay. We wouldnt hesitate to return in the future. 11 December 2016 - 14:12:00

The apartment is spacious, comfortable, has everything you need and being on an interior courtyard, very quiet. The area is full of restaurants, stores and transportation options. Berlin is really an outstanding city and Katherine's apartment made it easy to enjoy. 19 May 2017 - 00:54:00

Kathy is a great hostess, easily accessible. The apartment is in a lovely neighbourhood and we are now regulars in a few establishments. Public transportation is easy from here so I had no difficulty getting to my course. We have rebooked for six weeks next year and hope to make this an annual trip. 04 September 2017 - 14:04:00

Grateful we did not pick any of the other places, as we did NOT have to walk up 5 flights of stairs, and or have to share bunk beds. Berlin is full of quirky places, but Katherine's flat was a lucky choice, elegant and well equipped it seems that Katherine has managed to marry Germany and the US into a creative, attractive blend of stylish design and comfy furniture. It is quiet and has been a heaven during some truly hectic days. Katherine is a very attentive and fun hostess, yet gives you privacy. The surrounding area does offer everything promised from Broetchen on Sundays, to walking distance to excellent restaurants and shops. Best VRBO experience! 24 October 2017 - 15:31:00

I really enjoyed my stay in this lovely flat, which had all the convenience of home, in a peaceful area with plenty of restaurants, shops and several supermarkets. It was also close to the Schaubhne, a major theatre. The best part was the transit...just a few blocks from the subway at Adenauerplatz and the S-bahn at Charlottenburg, and a few steps from the bus stop on the Kurfrstendamm, so every part of Berlin was less than a half-hour away, including the main train station. It's also a short cab ride to the airport at Tegel. Perfect for seeing the city or just kicking back. Great! 06 November 2010 - 07:38:37
  7. The apartment is located towards the west end of the Ku'Dam. It is very convenient to transit (bus, Ubahn and Sbahn). There are many shops and stores within easy walking distance. The apartment's main feature is its size. Four large, separate rooms (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room). It is quite different than the usual 'studio' apartments that one finds in Europe. Although it is very quiet, it also faces west into a courtyard, limiting the amount of bright sunlight. Internet access is via a 'Rocket Stick' which can be difficult to use if one does not read German. 'Time' must be bought for it to use. All in all, we very much enjoyed our three nights in this wonderful apartment. 27 May 2011 - 03:37:16

Our family of four stayed in this charming apartment for six nights in June and loved it! Berlin is an exciting city to visit, and we found it easy to access every site we wanted to visit using public transportation that began just a few blocks away. Grocery stores and ethnic restaurants abounded in the neighborhood. The apartment's high ceilings, double windows and layout were of another era, which helped us to appreciate the history of Berlin. Our teenagers were able to get the internet going without problems, and we all appreciated the many books on Berlin at the apartment. The owner and her manager were very helpful tracking down our Womens World Cup soccer tickets, which alleviated much stress at the end of our trip. We would definitely return to Berlin and this apartment - there is so much more to explore! 05 July 2011 - 14:14:21

We had a great stay at Kathy's place. It is located away from the center; once you have figured out the S-Bahn and the U-Bahn system you can travel pretty much everywhere. Get a ticket for the length of your stay which allows you to use all public transport. Europeans walk to the train stations , so if you can't walk several blocks everyday you will have to use the bus system or make arrangements for other transport. We needed an apartment with two separate sleeping places because of my snoring, which I am told is pretty bad. Kathy's apartment suited us really well. When we had problems with our electrical plugs, she told us where to find her adaptor. Having a washing machine and a rack to dry was also excellent as we had been travelling for almost a week. There is a grocery store about three mimute's walk from the apartment. The neighbourhood is full of great restaurants...There is a Greek and an Turkish restaurant right on the Ku'damm, about half a block away. You are also pretty close to Charlottenburg castle and gardens, which is one of Berlin's top attractions. We caught a direct bus to the airport with our luggage just a block or two (can't recall exactly) from the apartment. Could not find the stop at first but the locals helped us. The apartment building is owned by locals, and you see the German residents going about their daily lives. It's quiet and residential. Because Kathy sometimes lives there, there are a few things in the kitchen that we did not have to buy. We really enjoyed ourselves; Berlin is a great ciy and four days wasn't really enough. Thank you! 07 September 2011 - 19:30:26

Comfort - A+. Location - A+. Quiet - A+...this apartment was perfect for my week stay in Berlin. Charlottenberg is a lovely area in West Berlin. The apartment is close to S-bahn and U-bahn stations, and Kurfurstendamm for hailing a cab - easy. The apartment is very comfortable, spacious and quiet. Decorated with care and attention to coziness. Great to have wireless internet connection. Kathy provided details about the apartment prior to my arrival and she was prompt to respond to my inquiries. I will definitely stay here again. It was absolutely perfect. 21 March 2014 - 21:17:41

We stayed 4 nights in the appartment in tropical Berlin. Everyday it was more than 30 degrees Celcius. The windows had blinds and there was a fan, both were handy. Parking was free and in front of the building. The apartment is spacious and well maintained and has friendly neighbours, close to public transport, groceries, restaurants and terraces (esp. das Haus der 100 Biere, just a block away, good food and drinks). We had a great stay. 29 July 2014 - 14:58:23

As always, the perfect spot to spend a week in Berlin. I've stayed here three times and each time have gotten to know the neighborhood even more. It's the perfect spot near both the U and S lines, off a terrific shopping street, quiet, and has everything in the apartment one needs. 28 October 2015 - 09:33:48

Katherine was incredibly helpful- nothing was too much trouble, and she was always available should we have any questions. The flat was a traditional Berlin altbau, and while somewhat old-fashioned in feel, was lovingly furnished and had everything we needed. The extra bed in the living room make it perfect for a small family. It's location is great, with every kind of eatery you would need in walking distance. 06 November 2015 - 07:54:56

...of the three Berlin apartments we stayed in, this is average: location is good, just off-Kudamm, though not as close to the major tourist sites; clean, fairly well looked after, good and well appointed kitchen; spacious, comfortable sitting room with TV and extra bed; information re. heating system and garbage disposal was insufficient; hot water difficult to regulate; one flight of stairs, no elevator; local representative responsive. TUGRA Restaurant at corner highly recommended for lunch specials (Turkish). 30 December 2013 - 16:51:40
