Embankment Gardens is like a small jewel tucked between the grounds of the Royal Chelsea Hospital Garden and London’s legendary Physic Gardens. Less than a five minute walk away, the world famous Chelsea Flower Show is held each May. Across the river is Battersea Park with its array of seasonal gardens, some of the best running paths in London and home of many seasonal art fairs. We challenge Art Lovers to visit all the nearby museums and galleries along the King’s Road including the Saatchi Gallery at the fashionable Duke of York’s outdoor mall where many of London’s finest antique fairs are held on an annual basis. Sloane Square, with its shops, bars and restaurants is an easy 10 minute walk. Stroll along the Thames to the Tate Britain and then take their ferry service across the Thames to the Tate Modern. Pimlico, where treasures from around the world can be found, is a favorite haunt of interior designers and antique lovers is on your doorstep. Foodies will need to book well in advance at London's only Michelin three star restaurant, Gordon Ramsey on Royal Hospital Road, less than a five minute walk. Or perhaps London's finest Indian cuisine at The Painted Heron intrigues you. We love The Cheyne Walk Brasserie with its upstairs comfy lounge and delicious array of Provencal treats. This flat is in a great residential neighborhood. Perfect for us, as we lived in London for a year and wanted to try something new. If it's your first time here, you may want to stay a little more central. Beautiful artwork, great kitchen, lovely living room, but very compact, as it is city living. We actually entertained friends 3 nights here. So comfortable to just sit and enjoy your guests. Great towels and amply stocked apartment. Tesco Express within a few minutes walk (open until 11 pm) and M&S a 5-7 minute walk. Saatchi Gallery, my favorite contemporary art museum, also within a 10 min walk. Plenty ofmshopping and shops to poke around in. Don't miss Partridges if you're a foodie. All in all, loved our stay. Only thing that could be improved would be to have a/c or at least a fan in the bedroom. 21 July 2017 - 12:51:00

Nicely updated flat in a great Kensington/Chelsea neighborhood next to the Thames. Easy walking access to good restaurants and pubs, as well as the Tube. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay 28 July 2017 - 14:00:00

Loved this place. Perfect for a romantic week in London. Try the local restaurants at Pimlico Green, just a few blocks away. Saturday market at Duke of Yorks is great place to mingle with the locals and buy yummy treats to eat in the garden at the flat. Couldn't be a better location. Will definitely return on our next visit to London. 24 March 2010 - 08:29:26

We stayed here a week and found the flat both a pleasure to wake up to and something to look forward to coming home at night. The pictures are an accurate depiction of the apartment and it was very clean and quiet, well appointed and everything was in good working order. The flat is a good 15 minute walk to buses, etc. and taxis were a bit hard to find on Embankment so give yourself enough time to meet appointments but the area is an absolute charm to walk in. This was our first VRBO but we would stay here again and fully recommend it as an elegant and charming place. Very romantic. Robin was quite responsive to us. Thank you. 02 August 2010 - 22:35:04
  6. we loved your place, and the coffee grinder got a great workout. we are big drip coffee makers, usually, but our time at your place taught us the virtues of the press! we left some guidebooks there that we no longer needed for you and future guests. again many thanks 22 September 2010 - 03:03:43

We have recently spent 6 weeks away in Europe and this was our favourite place that we stayed! The apartment is a good, very well furnished and well kept, and has everything you could possibly need for a stay in London. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom lovely and the couch a great place to wind down after a big day out. We walked to the tube station daily to get out and about to see things - if you are not fit and active, the walk might be a little long for you, but if so, there are also buses nearby and cabs. There is a small supermarket very close by that had everything we needed. Robin and Peter were excellent to deal with, even when there was a problem receiving the keys before we left, they were able to put in place a Plan B that worked out well. Overall, a pleasure! 12 January 2011 - 03:59:31
  8. We LOVE the Garden Flat. It's perfect for us. Thanks for dropping off the keys. Believe it or not, it's not supposed to rain for our entire visit. We'll take care of watering the garden plants, only as needed, so no need for the maid to make a special trip. The garden looks fabulous! Perhaps we can stay with you again. We need to be in Chelsea from sometime in late August to late September, early October. 20 April 2011 - 23:48:13
  9. Thanks for your apartment. My husband and I had a fabulous time. We love the neighbourhood. Enjoyed walking around the shops and galleries. 20 April 2011 - 23:41:59

Staying near the river Thames in your beautifully decorated flat here on Embarkment Gardens could not have could been more wonderful. You apartment has everything going for it: fantastic location, luxurious bed, excellent bathroom, lots of natural light, and dual access to the garden. It is a very special place! Thank you for making my visit to London even better than I could have hoped for. I am off to California early Friday morning 30 June 2011 - 13:32:40

My 9 year old daughter and I very much enjoyed our stay. This did not feel like a rental property, it really was like being in someone's home (so much so that we were constantly worried about finding a coaster so that we would not put a coffee cup in direct contact with the wood finish on several lovely pieces of furniture. The only negative is that the location is the tiniest bit "off the beaten track" - it's a 10 minute walk to the nearest bus, 15 minutes to Sloane Square, and flagging a cab on the Embankment is pretty well impossible (you have to walk 5 minutes up to Royal Hospital Road) ... but these are minor details, in the bigger picture. Which is that this is one of the nicest rental apartments I have ever seen. 14 May 2012 - 17:33:54

We stayed here for 5 nights while we got to explore London. What a beautiful flat! The high windows overlooking the lovely patio brought in lots of light. The kitchen (although we did have to get the manuals out) was efficient and stocked with some staples. The furnishings are lovely and comfortable. The Surprise Pub, which Robin and Peter recommend, is a must! We went 3 times and it's a short 5-7 minute walk. Would love to stay here again! 25 May 2012 - 18:44:40

We spent 8 wonderful nights In this amazing flat. It was quiet, well located to public transportation and grocery without being too close. Well decorated, extremely quiet. Loved the Thames and eating each night in the walled garden. We would highly recommend it and would stay again. If you want to feel like you really live in London and are not a tourist, this is the place to be! Thanks for the memories. 26 August 2012 - 22:33:29

A brief note to say that our week in the flat was absolutely wonderful. Great fun pretending to be wealthy enough to be a Chelsea local ! Our morning runs were through Battersea Park; caught the ferry to the Tate Modern after a brief walk up the Embankment; dinner at the two star 'Medlar' in Kings Road, ( better food than Gordon's ! ). Walked the 10 miniutes everyday to Sloane Square station, even in the snow; oogled all the fancy cars parked around the streets; drank at The Prince Albert across the bridge a couple of nights; bought wine and nibbles from Partridges as if we'd done it all lives. As pretty seasoned travellers we loved everything about the flat, the location and the assistance we got from Robin and Peter. We'll be back and we're telling ALL our friends! 02 February 2013 - 02:44:17

I stayed at Robin and Peter's flat last August and enjoyed it immensely. It is the perfect size for one or two people and has all the amenities one could want. The location was beautiful and I Ioved walking through the grounds of the Royal Chelsea Hospital on my way home from the tube. The flat is conveniently located for food shopping at Marks & Spencer or Waitrose and there is a convenience store a block away for last-minute needs. Robin and Peter were very responsive and all arrangements were completed very quickly and smoothly. I am looking forward to staying there again soon. 08 March 2013 - 00:18:41

Our hosts were right on top of thiings, being very responsive with our questions and helping us get settle in. The terrace is lovely, small and no view, but so nice to be outside under the trees. The kitchen is well equipped and the whole flat is very comfortable. They had a list of pubs, restaurants and grocery stores that were all within walking distance, and there were many gardens in the neighborhood. We took a lovely walk up the Thames that ended with the Parliament buildings, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and then another pub to cool off. And then we spent a a lot of time just exploring the neighborhood, I only wish we had more time. We never became fully acquainted with public transportation, but took cabs when we needed a short ride. We would definitely go back if we got the opportunity. 12 July 2017 - 01:43:00

We are experienced travelers who sincerely appreciate quality and value. The internet photos and description, although accurate, do not include the more salient virtues such as how quiet the building and neighbourhood are. Or how functional the kitchen is. Or how close and frequent the 360 bus is to access the Sloane Square Underground. What we really appreciated was the genuine hospitality extended by Robin and Peter. They were most helpful with every step of the process and we shall definitely be back. Overall, a wonderful flat in terrific location. 18 November 2017 - 15:12:00

You know you have had a great stay when you have spent a couple of weeks in a place and you really don't want to leave! This was our first experience renting a flat in London, and we will definitely do it again. Firstly, Robin and Peter could not have been nicer owners; their attention to detail, local advice, hospitality and recommendations helped make our stay special. Any questions that we had either on the flat or London in general were attended quickly. Secondly, the flat itself is remarkable. It is beautifully decorated and wonderfully equipped. You definitely feel like you are in a home, and a very nice one! The flat is on the floor down from the entrance but you would never know that you were, as the living room opens on to a conservatory and a nice little terrace, which is also shared by the bedroom. Ive never been in a below street level flat where you can look at the trees, and watch the rain fall on your glass roof. The bedroom is very comfortable, and although there is only one bathroom, the toilet and shower/tub are in separate rooms, which allows multi-tasking for couples. It is so quiet in the flat at night, you would never know you were in a city of 11 million people. The kitchen has all new appliances, and the artwork in the flat is uniquely beautiful. Robin and Peters attention to detail is remarkable. The flat had everything that we needed and more. Thirdly, the location in Chelsea along the River Thames and close to Kings Road is delightfully convenient. We enjoyed walking along the river, and across the bridges to Battersea Park. We like to walk London, as it is such a beautiful city, and we were able to walk to Kings Road, Kensington, Westminster, Mayfair, Sloan Square, Trafalgar Square, the Theater District, etc. Some of the walks were 2 or 3 miles one way, but London is such a beautiful place to explore that we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the exercise. We often took a taxi back to the flat at night, for between $10-20 US. We did not take the Tube our entire time in London! There are some great restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk from the flat. We highly recommend and feel like we have found a London home for future visits. 18 October 2017 - 10:54:00

The property is in a beautiful old neighborhood, the houses are very nice and well maintained. The owners were super-responsive to our questions. The area is terrific, great restaurants, the Thames, it's a really sweet location. I was able to get Uber cars in 3 minutes. I'm a light sleeper so I really appreciate a quiet building like this. I would unhesitatingly stay there again 20 July 2017 - 03:26:00

Great Location! Staying here gives you the feeling of being a local. Quiet. Fun to see the Chelsea Pensioners in their dress blues as they walk nearby. Many restaurants and activities nearby, and short Uber or taxi ride to events. Owners are responsive and helpful with tips to visitors. 01 December 2017 - 03:21:00
