This was our first vacation in a long time and we were looking for fun things to do, without the long lines and crowds and spending a fortune on overpriced attactions. Mary Kim's home seemed like the perfect solution for my nineteen year old daughter, my husband and myself. We love nature, swimming, boating, and fishing. My daughter enjoyed kayaking for the first time, and I went fishing on the lake. We drove into Plattsburgh twice for a little shopping and then dinner, but the rest of the time, we just grilled on the barbecue and had relaxing evenings together as a family. The WiFi was great for using the laptop and tablets, and the house uses Dish TV. The sunsets were amazing to say the least. This is a perfect home if you are enjoy simplicity and are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life for awhile. Thanks again to the Lavery's for a great time in their home. 11 August 2016 - 16:01:00

Great cottage with beautiful sunsets! Had a very hot week but cottage stayed pretty cool. Was sorry the lake was so low... had a hard time enjoying the water. Lot of zebra mussels, would advise water shoes. otherwise a great stay! 10 August 2016 - 22:51:00

Location is great. Right in the center of many places we wanted to go. We mainly go to Lake Champlain for the fishing and this was just right for us. We go out all day and then we come back to clean up and relax. The rental was clean and the owner that was physically there some of the time made a huge attempt to satisfy us. This being said, I will list our issues. 1. We didn't find out about the lack of parking next to the cottage until the final payment had been made. Parking was across the street and we needed to park our truck/bassboat and have access to an outlet to charge batteries. we also had to lug all our gear to the cottage. The owner made available a long extension cord which was very helpful. A 2nd owner who lives out West was rude when we initially voiced our concern. 2. Dirty rug and towel in washing machine which we washed. 3. Tankless Water Heater didn't perform well in the kitchen. Water in sink was usually cold. 4. 2 kitchen table chairs were broken. Owner said we could go to cottage next door and grab a couple. 5. Stove a. all burners smoked badly and set off smoke alarm when first used. b. oven was very dirty. c. No work space (counter) near stove. d. light over stove was not secured, was on the wall hung on a nail and fell off several times. 6. There had been a lot of rain and one day we couldn't flush the toilet or shower. Some sort of septic system issue. 7. Tried to use the heater one cool night and it set off the smoke alarm from the burning dust. We didn't attempt to use it again. 8. Had several light bulbs burn out and there were no spares. 9. There is AC in the rental but the size is really for a small room and wasn't very efficient. 10. The shade for the bathroom window didn't provide enough privacy. 11. Not enough outlets. We had to use an outdoor extension cord that we brought along in order to plug in our laptop on the kitchen table. 12. No place to hang clothes in one bedroom and in the other room there was an armoire which was pretty much being used for storage. 13. The large dock that was normally there had been damaged from a storm and was not available as it was being repaired. We are not usually this picky but from the get go there were issues. 08 November 2015 - 01:45:40

The cottage was very nice - had everything for a nice weekend away. Thank you allowing my dog - he loved the lake. 19 October 2015 - 18:51:58

All in all, the cottage was just right for us. We loved the sunsets from the deck and had plenty of room. It was cozy and clean. Downsides: the microwave could only be used for 30 seconds at a time without the surge suppressor going off. And then, the last day we planned to relax before leaving, the owner decided to spend several hours mowing and weed whacking. It would have been nice to know or to be asked. Kind of hard to doze off with that kind of noise right outside. 09 August 2015 - 21:48:06
  6. The cabin was just perfect for our needs. It was clean and comfortable. The large livingroom windows afforded us a lovely view of the lake no matter the weather. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake many days. It was close to all the attractions like Alburgh Dune State Park, Montreal, Burlington and St. Alburg. We even made a day trip and drove to Maine! The neighbors were all very pleasant and helpful. We had a great time and would recommend it to anyone. 03 July 2012 - 00:02:40

We had a great time at the cottage, it was perfect for our needs and had a beautiful view. The only thing I want to mention is that cell phone reception is horrible and almost non-existant- so be prepared for that. We have Verizon and At&t and had no cell phone reception all week. Also, the wi-fi was not working and the owner wasn't able to fix it (even the neighbors) so we didn't have internet all week either. It was very quiet and peaceful, but we had no communication with anyone. 15 September 2012 - 13:50:19

My husband & I stayed here while visiting family in nearby Swanton. Admittedly, we didn't spend a lot of time at the cottage b/c we were elsewhere with family, but it was a great little place to come back to at night and have our own space. The property was clean; everything worked. Photos were accurate. The owner was very helpful, friendly, and easily reachable. We very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. 12 October 2012 - 17:32:16

My family had a fantastic time in Alburgh at the cottage and look forward to our next chance to get back. Great accomodations, amazing lakeside location and fun nearby neighbors. Our kids miss the huge lake now that we are back in land locked Colorado but the memories that we made during the week in July will last them a lifetime. 09 August 2014 - 19:48:44

We had a fabulous week, weather was perfect, house was great, neighbors were so nice! Perfect location for kayaking, cycling and exploring VT islands, NY and Canada. We had a day trip to Fort Lennox in Canada! what a delightful discovery! Amazing sunsets every night and a glorious full rainbow one evening. Our vacation was amazing . The cottage was every thing we expected and more . We had 6 people and there was plenty of room for everyone and 2 dogs . We brought our boat but discovered the fishing from shore was very good . Someone caught a great walleye that we had for dinner that night . The deck had very comfortable furniture where we watched the beautiful sunsets every night . We also had a camp fire every night perfect for toasting marshmellows . We had a bad storm one day and we had to quickly move our boat away from the dock that broke to pieces from the huge waves . We also had a problem with the tv that required a service call . The owner went beyond helpful with both incidents . They answered our calls promptley and came to the cottage several times to make sure any problems were corected . We used the bikes , kayaks and the grill was wonderful .We had such a fantastic time we have already booked our stay for next year . Can't wait to return . I would recommend the cottage to anyone .The owners are very friendly and will go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. 08 August 2015 - 04:51:50

Everything the owners said it would be and more. A nice cottage by the lake. It's literally 25 yards from Lake Champlain. Cottage has everything you need/want. Beautiful sunrises, amazing sunsets, quiet, peaceful, great dock, easy access to town, five minutes from the Canadian border, in a word "idyllic". I went with my 19 year old son. We fished (Bass, Perch, Pumpkinseed, Pike), went kayaking, swam, grilled, made fires at night, visited the civil war museum in town, went to Ausable Chasm (hour away), visited Montreal (hour away). Even the six hour drive from downstate NY was beautiful, scenic, and no traffic. Owners were nice, caring, insightful, and in my case, extremely helpful. The townsfolk were welcoming and informative. Weather was perfect. We had a great time and truly bonded. A perfect vacation!! 10 September 2015 - 10:54:06

This summer my husband and I decided to do two things we have never done before: 1. Rent a house on VRBO 2. Drive from Philadelphia to Alburg Vermont It was the best decision we made!!! We had a fabulous time. Very relaxing. Beautiful views of the lake right outside your door. We swam almost everyday or went kayaking. Our Goldendoodle loved every minute of it. The cottage was perfect. I felt right at home. We cooked/grilled almost every night at the cottage. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils/pots/pans/coffee maker ...... The washer and dryer worked very well. There are grocery stores close by and a souvenir shop across the street that was wonderful. We also did some day trips to Burlington and Stowe VT. Also if you are a dog lover, you have to check out Dog Mountain in saint johnsbury VT ( home of the dog chapel). We will definitely be visiting again! Thank you for being pet friendly Charlie, one of the owners was wonderful and just a phone call away. Say hi to your brother in law for me Charlie!! Sincerely, Dawn/Carl and Maggie 27 July 2016 - 00:48:00

One of the best family vacations we ever had. Fun was had by all especially our chocolate lab who never wanted to get out of the lake!! Which did I mention is right outside your door!! Beautiful yard and views! Cottage was perfect and came with everything you could have asked for ( Internet& Cable, for the teenagers) . The owners let you use everything from the shed where there was every lake toy you could ask for, floats, row boat, kayak, paddle boat etc... even a basketball court for my teenage boys to play on. Owners were great, very responsive to any questions I had. Very close to Canada took a day trip to Montreal which must not be missed. Thanks again for allowing us to bring our dog and letting us use your perfect home. Can't wait to return!! 25 February 2016 - 00:58:29

We stayed at this house and our friends rented the cottage next door. It was the best vacation! Comfortable beds; clean; beautiful views; awesome dock; general store down the road; lots of parking for our truck and boat trailer; boat launch 15 minutes away... was fantastic! 29 July 2017 - 19:28:00
