The cottage house is very cute with all the amenities for a great trip. The beds are super comfortable, the access to the lake is fantastic (the dock is private, but not attached to the house if that's important to you- it's a very short walk perhaps 500 feet away from the house). Khara was an amazing hostess - she has everything ready for us, answered tons of questions prior to our arrival - and welcomed us via a phone call when we arrived to make sure everything was to our liking. We took advantage of the fire pit and the dock, and Khara even offered water bikes the day we were leaving. She's flexible with check in and check out times, the cottage was perfectly clean and exactly the same as the pictures indicated. Alburg is a really lovely small town, which is exactly what we were looking for - and Burlington is just about a 1 hour drive away so you can still get a city feel if that's what you're looking for. Overall, the location was fantastic, the house was well maintained and clean, and Khara was a lovely host. I recommend to anyone looking to get away and have a relaxing trip! 06 July 2017 - 02:22:00

This was a fantastic lake-side cottage! It was charming yet modern and immaculate, and well stocked with everything needed to spend some quiet time with family relaxing. The memory foam beds made for a great night's sleep, and coffee on the wrap around porch in the morning with a view of the lake was a great start to the day. Khara was a wonderful host, and the cottage was everything advertised and more. A short car ride took you into beautiful little towns with an abundance of shops and restaurants and a Saturday morning farmer's market. Highly recommended this little gem! 09 July 2017 - 19:00:00

This is a cozy little cottage with extra touches that made our stay comfortable. The memory foam mattresses, linens and towels are high quality and very comfortable. The private dock is right across the street where our boys spent hours catching several fish. Steve and Khara are very thoughtful, wonderful hosts. All questions and concerns were handled immediately. Just about an hour from Burlington and Montreal made this a great location for us. Definitely a great value! 30 July 2017 - 23:24:00

We had a great time. Cottage was everything we wanted. Very clean, comfortable beds, the bay is pretty calm which made it good for stand-up paddle boarding. Had a great time fishing all around the area. It is within and hour from Mt Mansfield and the Stowe area where we had a good hike. Looking forward to coming back again. Khara was great in answering any and all questions we had. 27 July 2017 - 12:44:00

Perfect sized cottage for guys weekend of golf. New memory foam mattresses provided a great nights sleep and included linens and towels. Cottage was great for our golf trip. Although we only played at Alburgh Golf Links, there are several other courses within driving distance. Included a kitchen and new grill for cooking after a round of golf. Interior and porch were prefect for relaxing, and there was a lake side fire pit and dock for late night. Highly recommend for a great golf trip or any other vacation. The owners were great and their extra effort really make this cottage a great place for our golf trip. 14 August 2017 - 12:35:00

Four of us stayed at the cabin while visiting family and the space worked out very well for two couples. It's small, but laid out nicely and very tastefully decorated. We even hosted a family breakfast with an additional 7 adults and 3 kids and somehow it worked! It was easily accessible for my grandmother, who uses a cane. The screened in porch is a nice touch and the dock is a lovely spot for sipping coffee in the morning. The cabin has everything you need, a well-stocked kitchen, plenty of bath towels and fresh bed linen. The beds are quite comfortable and there were enough blankets and pillows for everyone. Khara was incredibly responsive to any needs we had. The location was very convenient to my family and was a short 1 hour trip to Montreal, which we enjoyed. You certainly will need a car, but everything (grocery stores, etc.) are within about a 10-15 minute drive. A few things to note: 1) The train is VERY close by and when it comes by VERY early in the morning and blows the horn, it is quite loud. I think this perhaps only happens on weekdays, but it was still enough to wake us in the wee hours of the morning. If you are a very heavy sleeper, you may be OK. Otherwise, expect to hear it and (hopefully) go back to sleep. 2) The water does smell like sulphur, which is very common to the area (my grandparent's water always smelled like this). If you've every visited a mineral spring, it's similar to that. It will be worse if the water hasn't been run through the pipes for awhile. We definitely noticed it dissipate by the 2nd day. You will likely want to drink bottled water, however. 3) The doors to the bedrooms stuck quite a bit when we tried to open and close them. I'm sure they were just expanding with the humidity (it did rain a fair amount), but this is something to consider in terms of privacy (they were quite hard to get and stay closed). Overall, we enjoyed the stay very much and will absolutely consider Khara and Steve's cabin when we visit again! 27 October 2017 - 14:04:00

We stayed here in the summer of 2017. I find the listing description completely accurate. We enjoyed our stay and the owners were a pleasure to work with. It is right across the street from the lake and has a great dock with a fire pit and seating all right there on the lake. There is great fishing nearby and due to its location it is protected from heavy wind, which is great for small crafts and kayaks. The house is well appointed and has all you need for a comfortable stay at the lake. In short, highly recommended! 28 November 2017 - 17:58:00
  9. We were excited to be on a true waterfront property priced inexpensively - the impression the first photos try to convey. But when we arrived, that really wasn't the case - there is a large house between this one and the water, and you don't get these photo views from anywhere in the house. You have to walk down to the edge of the road then you get to the dock. But the swimming area there isn't that great - the owners in fact recommended we use a hidden beach down the street, and we did, and it was much better. The bottom line here - this is not truly lakefront; the surrounding homes are of variable condition; and it is next to the highway and to a railroad that came through quite loudly in the middle of the night. Inside, the place is not quite as big as advertised - we measured it to be about 600 sq. ft. at most. The facilities were new and in pretty good condition - great beds, reasonable layout, and bathroom, etc. - essentially one large open area, and two bedrooms. But the basic furnishings, particularly kitchenware, were sparse. There wasn't even one mixing bowl or salad bowl, nor colander or strainer; no large pots or pans. No wine glasses, and the corkscrew was so cheap it broke on the first use; the can opener didn't fare much better. One dish towel to go around, and towels somewhat sparse with no washcloths and two hand towels for a place that sleeps six. A washing machine and dryer were advertised in the list of amenities, but we never found them! Thankfully, adequate toilet tissue! The owners also need to be more up front about the potable water; i.e., it was not mentioned until we rented the unit. Basic, they advised you not to drink it and we had to buy a large container of drinking water instead. It was fine for dishes and washing food and showering, but it has a Sulphur odor - something we learned is rather pervasive around the area. Basically, we suggest a more accurate representation of the location, and a much better stocked unit, especially for 4-6 people! 12 August 2017 - 19:41:00

Perfect cabin for winter get away! My wife and I rented Steve and Khara's cottage for 5 days in January. Our stay couldn't have been better! Steve and Khara were super friendly and very helpful with any questions we had. The ice fishing was great! We fished just out front of the cabin and hammered the northern pike! The only thing better than the fishing was the snowmobiling! We wouldn't believe how nice the trails were and how easily accessible the VAST trail system was! There was even a groomed trail right to the back yard of the cottage! In our spare time between snowmobiling and ice fishing we couldn't have asked for a better cottage. Everything was very clean and neat... super comfy beds, free wifi, a smart tv, a grill, and all the kitchen appliances and utensils we needed! Overall our stay was absolutely perfect and we would highly recommend Steve and Khara's cottage to anyone looking for a winter getaway and chance to experience the amazing snowmobiling and ice fishing Vermont has to offer! We will definitely be coming back! 19 January 2018 - 22:01:00
