About listing

Flathead Lake is the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, where you can enjoy fabulous water activities and scenery. The house is less than 1 hour from Glacier National Park and 30 minutes from Glacier International Airport. Nearby are numerous golf courses, antique shops, and summer playhouses. Enjoy spectacular views of the lake, Mission Mountains, and Wild Horse Island, where during a simple hike, you can see bighorn sheep, deer, bald eagles, osprey, and, of course, wild horses! This 2500 square feet house sits on 100 feet of prime Flathead Lake frontage on a one-acre property. It comfortably sleeps eight in three bedrooms and a loft, has 2 bathrooms and a complete kitchen, and provides you with beautiful mountain and lake views, new dock, new deck, and a lawn down to the lake. Fifteen fruit trees adorn the front yard. Here you have your own private beach and yard and dock! Plenty of room for volleyball and badminton, horseshoes and croquet. The views from this lovely home are exceptional with the lake and mountains literally right out your back door. Walk right out on to the lawn and take a dip in the water. The beach stone firepit is great for nighttime s’mores-making. Bring your water toys, golf clubs, enjoy the fresh air and bird watching, or visit the many Flathead area attractions. Between Polson and Bigfork and Kalispell, you'll find the convenience of shops, restaurants, arts, and entertainment. You can rent boats and Sea-Doos in Lakeside, 10 to 15 minutes away. During the winter, Blacktail Mountain Ski area is close by and is a great for families. There are cross-country trails up there as well. Whitefish Mountain Resort is less than an hour away! Ellen, We had a wonderful time at your house on the lake. We loved the house and the location, it was so relaxing. Great and safe places to park the boat and jet skis and a perfect dock to play on and sunbathe on. Beautiful views, sunsets and sunrises to enjoy. The neighbors were very friendly and offered us use of their water toys (paddle boat, kayaks, and paddle board). Jeff, the house manager was very friendly and helpful. He fixed the problem with the jet ski lift quite promptly. The owners are very involved and helpful. We would love to return next year. Thank you for an outstanding vacation spot. Thank you Ellen!!! FIVE STARS!!!!! We would like to reserve the house again next year Aug. 8-22. 2015. 04 September 2014 - 14:55:35

We had a fantastic time at your beautiful, comfortable home - we were all sad to leave. What a gorgeous view from the living room windows - couldn't soak up enough of it - guess pictures will have to do. Rented a boat - did lots of fishing, sightseeing, and cruising the antique shops. Hope to do this again in the near future - only this time we all agreed we would like to stay longer!!! Thanks again Ellen - we had a super time, Cheri 16 June 2007 - 13:18:49

We stayed at this home on Flat Head lake for a week in June 2015. The location is great. You walk out the back door, and there's the lake. The sun rises majestically over it, it sets very late, and is a great setting. If you want to be away from it all, this is the place for you. We viewed wildlife from the house including rabbits, deer, and one bear that scared the you-know-what out of me. A couple of things that were not so great: two of the 4 windows in the living room do not open at all, so in the afternoon when it's warm, it gets pretty toasty. The decor of the home is...well, it's old. This was probably the coolest place in 1988, but it could use an update. (If you see the sofa, you'll know what I'm talking about) The TV/DVD/Cable situation isn't the best either, with pretty constant dropping of the satellite image, so if you think you're going to settle in and catch up on a tv show, you're mistaken. There was a LOT of poop on the back lawn when we arrived, and I'm not sure if it was from a previous guest's dog or the bats that fly over in the weekend. I would stay here again for vacation, but I would probably have my expectations lowered a bit. 26 June 2015 - 18:08:42

Loved our stay at flathead this summer. The house is a little dated but very clean, comfortable and everythings worked well. The house is fully furnished and was very clean. Having a full kitchen with 8 of was was so nice. We cooked all of our meals at the house, either BBQing or the stove. The house has a great deck for sitting on and looking at the views as well as a wonderful beach to hanging out on all day. The house has a full size washer and dryer which comes in handy for all the swimming suits and beach towels. We loved our stay so much we will be returning next year, can't wait! Thanks again for sharing your home with us!! As a side note, the neighbors on both side were very nice and friendly. Todd 24 August 2017 - 19:16:00

Flathead Lake had been on my bucket list for awhile. This home and setting did not disappoint! The setting is magical. The yard, beach and dock are the total biz! Rent a boat and paddle boats and hang at the lake the entire time. Pop over to Wild Horse Island. Take dips in the lake, grill steaks on the deck. Relax. The house itself is clean, which is my most important criterion. It's cozy and equipped with the basics. It's not rustic mountain chic, but neither is the rental fee. It got a bit hot in mid-July, but locals told us it was a record heat week so what are you going to do other than jump in the lake. 28 August 2017 - 01:53:00

We love our lake time every year. This place has the space and all the amenities my family looks for inc. beach and dock w/ provisions for two boats and is dog friendly. We have returned here 7 years in a row and plan to come again next year. Owners and management have always been helpful. 13 September 2017 - 21:00:00

Lovely and comfortable house, magnificent setting. All the amenities for summer on the lake. Deck and grill setup really comfortable for 8 with the kitchen right through a slider. A fire pit beside the water for those long beautiful evenings. We are water/boat people, and there was a buoy to anchor my sailboat and a lift for the powerboat. Some of us did yoga on the dock in the morning greeting the rising sun. The owners were engaged and helpful in the process. We are going back this year. 05 July 2011 - 14:59:50

We loved this house, it was everything we were looking for and the owner is great. House has a beautiful large living room, it's easy to walk to the water, lovely deck for dinners at sunset. Bedrooms are large. Kitchen is nice. would love to stay there again. Perfect. We were 6 people, and had loads of elbow room. 11 August 2011 - 17:02:12

Thank you so much for sharing your "Home Away from Home" with me and my family. The place was everything your VRBO posting said it would be and more. The dock, boat lifts and fire pit provided hours of enjoyment around the lake for all of us. Sitting under the full moon with a fire going and the waves gently lapping at the beach made for great long talks, and a great nights sleep. The cabin was cozy with lots of amenities. We loved your suggestions for places to go eat and shop, and took advantage of many of them. I hope we can squeeze a week out all our future summers to come and spend it at your place again and again. We loved your place! 21 September 2011 - 15:40:36

Thank you so much for sharing your lake house with us. We had a great time and would love to go back next year. The house had plenty of room for our two families and we didn't feel that we were on top of each other. The dock was perfect for us to spend our days in the sun with plenty of room to park both of our boats safely for the evening. Sitting around the fire pit was the perfect end to a fun day in the sun. Thank you! 29 August 2012 - 15:12:37

Thank you for sharing your home with me and my family, we really enjoyed our time. Your place is beautiful! We loved your neighbor they were so kind to us, they loved our retriever dog as theirs passed away last year. They shared their paddle boat with our kids and they had a blast on the water. We couldn't have asked for better weather and a nicer place. Thank you, and cant' wait to go again! 12 July 2013 - 21:12:14

Outstanding! We've been coming over to Flathead Lake for the past 10 years; waterskiing, tubing, fishing and relaxing with family and friends. Rare to find a place like this. The location is great. Calm water for skiing, close to fishing and Wild Horse Island. The house set up is perfect; loft upstairs for kids, 2 large bedrooms on main floor and huge private bedroom with walk-out deck below. Big backyard with plenty of room for kids to play. Beach is pebble with gentle slope into the water. Kids and dogs swam all day. Great Shore Station/Boat Lift and dock. We enjoyed every evening by the Fire pit. Owners are involved if you have any questions. Thanks Ellen, we hope to be back again! 27 July 2013 - 06:21:23

This was a fantastic vacation home right on Flathead Lake. The views alone are spectacular, but the boat dock, grass backyard, and fire pit made it even better. Two nights went by way too fast! The owner was extremely accommodating and very quick to answer questions. The house has plenty of room for a big family or multiple families, and the kids in particular loved climbing up the ladder to sleep in the loft. An excellent experience! 19 May 2015 - 04:52:39

We had a wonderful time at this lake house. As soon as you walk in the house you have a breathtaking view of the lake that makes you feel like you are on a dream vacation like those you see in magazines. The setting is hard to beat and the kids just loved playing in the water and on the beach. The beach area was such a relaxing and fun place to be day and night. The fire pit was great. It was our best family vacation yet:) We may have to make this a yearly tradition. 11 June 2015 - 13:36:22

Perfect location for serenity! We had a great time fishing, rented paddle boards in Lakeside and saw a lot of wildlife! The views of the lake from inside and outside of the house are breathtaking. Great restaurants and shops nearby. We made a ton of memories...perfect size for 2 families with teenagers and young children. Ellen was a gem to work with! 31 July 2015 - 17:33:12

My family and friends all gathered at this private quiet little oasis on the west shore of Flathead to celebrate the 4th. The house is positioned so that it is very private with great views of Wild Horse Island. The front yard is lush and green that provided a great place to lay out to enjoy some sun. The beach area has a fire pit and a nice dock for your toys. We would definitely stay here again in the future. 17 July 2016 - 14:20:38

This was a very nice home. There is a wall of windows facing the lake. All the kids loved the loft and it has a private balcony. It was stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, everything we needed except food:) We cooked almost every meal there (thank you Costco) and found everything we needed. On the deck, there is a covered area that worked great for shade and one evening when it was raining. The deck is big and has two jet ski lifts and a boat lift and even has lights if you need them in the evening. The wood was replenished while we were there by the house manager. He had actually built the house and several of the docks around us including ours. He visited with us about the area and houses he had built around us, super nice guy. The neighbors on both sides were friendly and we enjoyed visiting with them. The yard was big and green and well maintained. The orchard had apples and cherries and was a great spot for taking pictures. The washer and dryer was new and I think a bigger size, super handy. The house was located in a beautiful, scenic area. While we were there, we went to a brewery in Lakeside that had great food and as an added bonus kids were free that day (Monday). We also rented a pontoon and drove it around Wild Horse Island, we saw a lot of wildlife but no horses:( It would be a great place to hike but with the little ones we couldn't. 18 July 2016 - 19:58:16
