There were six of us staying just under a week, parents in law, two little ones and my husband and myself. The apartment was perfectly set up to accommodate all of us and the children had their own beds. Close to transport and there were supermarkets conveniently near. We had been to London years ago and although didn't know the area prior to arriving, knew Canary Wharf which is close, and were glad we chose somewhere not touristy so we could see a different side of the city. Immaculate and well stocked with everything we needed, and a great price in a sometimes expensive city. Would stay in this apartment again. 04 July 2014 - 05:13:16

We found the apartment to be clean, well furnished. The pictures accurately represent the interior of the apartment. Note that it is on the upper level of the building, and there are 2 flights of stairs to climb. The neighborhood is ethnically diverse and seems somewhat rough. But merchants and neighbors were friendly and helpful. We did not find a variety of restaurants in the immediate area. Nearby grocery stores are limited to small convenience stores. A larger food store is a 15-20 minute walk. Huge food stores and a shopping mall are a 30 minute walk, or a short train ride in Stratford. Transportation via trains is also relatively accessible with a light rail station about a 7-minute walk from the apartment and the underground station about 15 minutes away, walking. It would be helpful for foreign visitors to get detailed guidance in purchasing Oyster Cards, and using the rail service. Once we found the train stations, learned how to use Oyster Cards, and became acclimated to the system we were able to reach all parts of London. The manner in which you get the key for the apartment is quite awkward. Rachel suggests arranging for transportation to the apartment from Heathrow via a mini-taxi. She suggests that the taxi take you to a taxi-company office where you get the apartment key. Then you can take a taxi on to the apartment. We followed her suggestion, but the total cost was over 100. There should be a more convenient way of getting the key. We returned to Heathrow on the tube at the end of our stay, leaving the key at the apartment. This took about the same length of time, at considerably less cost. The matter of the key was also an inconvenience for us; we were only able to get 1 key for the apartment. Our family of 4 adults did not often do things together, usually traveling throughout the city in pairs. We had to carefully coordinate our plans so that no one was locked out of the apartment. The apartment building also has an electronically locked entrance, leaving one not only locked out of the apartment, but also locked out of the building. Rachel said that she is working on getting a second key and fob, but for us this was quite a handicap. This was our 4th visit to London, having stayed previously in Richmond, Kew, and Plumstead. Each visit has been unique. There is no reason not to stay at Rachel's, other than the matter of the key. However, London is a big city and with VRBO there are so many other options. 15 September 2014 - 14:28:31

EC 07 August 2017 - 21:16:00

Gute Adresse fr ihren London-Trip. Ideal fuer bis zu sechs Personen. 10 November 2014 - 06:50:32

My family of Myself, my wife and two adult children stayed here for a week and had a fanastic time. We had great communication with Rachel prior to our trip. We decided to take Rachels advise and use the Cityways car service from Gatwick Airport. Cost of the trip was 85 for three of us, the driver met us at the airport, had the apartment key and after a long flight it was nice not to have complications getting "home". The apartment was perfectly clean and ready for us. There was coffee, tea, condiments and even milk in the fridge. The Bromley-by-Bow subway is about 5 min away and took us everywhere we wanted to go in London, the Devon station, even closer, took us on the DLR to points south of the Thames. We purchased the Oyster card for Zones 1 & 2 and only had to "top up" once for a trip outside of those zones(about 5 each). There are several large convenience stores nearby, but we used the one right at the Bromley Station the most. Try the Galvanizer Pub, friendly people, great Fish & Chips and trivia nights on Thursdays. 23 January 2015 - 17:01:29

First of all, I have to say Rachel was great to work with. We followed her advise and used Cityways with key service from LHR to the apartment which was much better than trying to figure out the tube to stop and get the key, then get back on the tube to find the apartment, all while hauling luggage along with way. We had two families (2 couples and 2 adult children) for a total of 6 people staying in this little apartment. The apartment was just as pictured - it was clean, comfortable, and had a decent kitchen with most everything you might need. It was a very easy walk to the Devon Road tube station and a bit further out were the Bow Road and Bromley-by-Bow stations. It really was just a 15-20 minute tube ride to get into downtown London. There were a couple of small, neighborhood markets within easy walking distance. The closest tavern, the Widow's Son, was also a short stroll away and the people there were quite friendly. The apartment is a bit outside of the touristy areas. The apartment building and the neighborhood look a little rough, but again, the apartment itself was nice enough, and everyone we met and spoke with in the neighborhood were certainly helpful and friendly. Before we figured out the tube station, we'd stop and ask for directions to catch the tube to Bromley-by-Bow. Most people would give us a quizzical stare and then repeat "Bromley-by-Bow? Bromley-by-Bow? Really? And you're from America?" because it's not a neighborhood frequented by tourists visiting London. But with the easy tube ride, I would not hesitate to stay here again. 28 July 2015 - 22:51:24

The flat was really nice, looked exactly like the pictures. Very well equipped and quiet (only one negative point: shower temperature complicated to adjust). Both the tube and DLR stations were easily accessible, and most touristic places in London were only half an hour away from the flat. Rachel was very nice and helpful. We are really satisfied, and recommend this flat to anyone who wishes to spend a nice weekend in London! 13 May 2016 - 16:52:16

The flat was clean and tidy and not too far from public transport. Good local shops. The kids especially liked the tube map duvets and enjoyed working out where we had been! The cooker door was broken so we couldn't use the cooker - this wasn't a problem as we went out for meals. However, a toaster would have been useful for breakfast. (we did try the microwave but it was missing something so we just got warm bread!). The flat was open, light and spacious which was lovely, it did cause an issue once the kids had gone to bed - they have the door open to their room which meant they could hear us downstairs - a door on the living room would have been useful. 31 March 2017 - 10:17:00
