About listing

A sophisticated haven, Atelier is a rare combination of stunning design, location and a five-star experience, all in a historic setting. The owner, a former hotelier with an eye for comfort, quality and style, has transformed a 17th century printing shop into a luxurious enclave while retaining the building’s architectural character and original charm. In a sea of ordinary apartment rentals, Atelier is truly one of a kind. Located on a tiny, ancient street named for the gravel workers who once lived there, the apartment combines the features of a deluxe hotel with the comforts of an exclusive private residence. Guests enjoy the best of both worlds -- an authentic Parisian neighborhood where you can live like a local -- away from the tourist hordes -- but centrally located on the Right Bank and close to all of the major tourist sites. The area is diverse, with a bohemian “SoHo” vibe and an eclectic mix of boutiques, art galleries and sought after restaurants interspersed with cafes, ethnic eateries and Chinese wholesalers. The Pompidou Center is down the street, and Notre Dame, the Louvre, the romantic gardens of the Palais Royal, the hip Rue Montorgueil and the heart of the historic Marais and Jewish Quarter are all an easy stroll. If you’d rather take public transport, the Arts et Metiers metro, around the corner, will whisk you virtually anywhere in Paris in minutes. Named for the 30+ foot wall of glass that bathes the apartment with light, Atelier’s dramatic high-ceiling with original beams creates a sense of space that is rare in Parisian apartments. The expansive living/dining area is tastefully furnished with fine art, a flat screen TV and a dramatic eco-friendly fireplace; it features a dining table for six, and a high-quality convertible sofa with a supremely comfortable queen size mattress for two additional guests. Equipped with a commercial grade range, the chef’s kitchen is a show-stopper, ideal for creating gourmet meals with provisions from the nearby Marche des Enfants Rouges, the oldest open-air market in Paris, named one of the World’s Top Food Markets by Travel and Leisure Magazine. The adjacent master bath has a large walk-in rain shower, Carrera marble and original stone walls. A beautiful spiral staircase leads to the completely private master bedroom, an elegant retreat outfitted with a king-size four-poster bed and luxury linens. And because Atelier is situated off a quiet courtyard, you’ll be ensured a restful night’s sleep. Across the hall is a chic studio, which can be joined to create a two-bedroom/two bath set-up that sleeps six. The studio, with its own mini-kitchen and additional separate entrance accommodates two more guests on a second high quality sofa bed. Your experience is made complete with unparalleled standards of cleanliness, attention to detail and customer service; We know what our guests want, and we take very good care of them. If you’re a discerning traveler who prefers an authentic Parisian experience in a environment of unparalleled quality, comfort and design, Atelier is a perfect choice. One bedroom is approx. 590 square feet. Studio is approx.270 square feet. Two bedroom is approx. 860 square feet. Keywords: Rented as one bedroom, two bedroom or studio.

I found this beautiful apt through a good friend who had stayed here on a visit to Paris with her husband. It was all I had hoped for and then some! To begin, all of my emails and questions were answered immediately by the delightful owner, Michael. On one occasion he even called me! I was really appreciative of his timely responses. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the property manager, David, who showed us through the apartment and welcomed us with some lovely fresh vegetables! Since I was traveling with my sisters it was nice to know that he lived nearby in the event we needed anything. The photos of this apartment are spot on! It has an amazing modern kitchen, spacious living area (with a gas fireplace) and a very large bedroom with a really comfortable king bed. There is a beautiful iron spiral staircase to the bedroom area. The sofa downstairs opens to a sleeper which we did use. We particularly enjoyed having such a nice space to come home to at the end of our busy days sightseeing. We were there for 2 weeks and this really felt like a home. The apartment was very clean and we did not want for anything! The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils etc. and there were plenty of bath towels. We did also make use of the washer and dryer. (They have a nice binder in the apt. with instructions for the appliances as well as other information). There are plenty of electrical outlets, an iron and board and hair dryer. Also, lots of natural light from the very large windows and plenty of indoor lighting as well. The location is excellent for getting around and we were very close to the nearest Metro stop. The entrance is on a very small side street. There is a grocery store right near the Metro stop which was very convenient. We did have dinner at Derriere which is just a couple of doors down and it was delicious! You definitely need to make a reservation. Around the corner on the next block there is a wonderful coffee spot called Loustic..amazing coffee! I would definitely recommend this apt. to friends and family. In fact, I hope to be going back myself one day! 05 May 2015 - 19:42:59

This apartment is spotlessly clean and the location is superb. It is well-equipped, well-planned and spacious. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay in the same apartment again. 28 September 2014 - 02:01:33

This is a well located flat in the area just north of the Marais. Close to the Metro as well as lots of nightlife. Quiet and secure. Recommended. 16 April 2014 - 10:39:28

Great place and convenient location. Nice bright apartment. All positive except two things: Front door lock is tricky to operate. Not everyone was able to open it. There are two beds set up and one sofa bed but actually there was only one real bed. The other one was also a sofa bed, and obviously not as comfortable as a real bed. 19 June 2016 - 14:39:00

We stayed at this property for 5 days prior to Christmas in 2011. We have never stayed at a property other than a hotel, so this was a new experience and we were not sure what to expect. We rented this property as a 2 bedroom and were very comfortable. The property is very clean and the pictures certainly do the property justice. I also want to say that the service associated with the property was fantastic. Everything was arranged prior to our arrival including pick up from the train station. The local property manager helped us with everything from minor questions about the property to restaurant recommendations and reservations. There is also a very interesting wine bar very close by (very busy, very nice wine, reasonble prices, and very helpful with recommendations). This apartment is conveniently located...only a 10 to 15 minute walk to Notre Dame. We would stay again. 01 February 2012 - 16:39:01

Amazing location for young family. It was just a few blocks to Pompidou Center and then short walk down to the river, Notre Dame, etc. It made an extremely good home base for parents and kids, with so many incredible places to visit (and eat) so close by. Would have been great for just parents too! We stayed in the one BR apartment, with two kids on pullout couch, and parents and a 2 year old upstairs in the loft bedroom. It was plenty of space for us and the decor is charming. The winding stair case maybe not ideal for new walkers or senior citizens but was not a problem for us. owners and on site manager very responsive. We appreciated driver meeting us at train station to facilitate acclimation. One rainy morning we were able to easily access the backed up video library. We hope to return. 12 November 2012 - 14:47:02

This was my first time renting an apartment instead of getting a hotel room. Because of my experience, I will hopefully never have to get a hotel again. The apartment was wonderful. It looks exactly like the pictures. The owner emailed us some helpful tips and advice which we tried to follow (time was tight). The apartment manager David, met us at the apartment when we arrived. He had the apartment heated up for us, gave us a tour and also offered some advice. When we were in the States, we were unable to make a dinner reservation. David took care of it and made one for us. I went to Paris with my boyfriend, his dad and his sister and a friend. There was 5 of us total and the apartment felt cozy and homelike. It is located by two metro stops- so you can get anywhere you need to. Great location. Great hospitality, Wonderful Experience. Will be back. 03 January 2013 - 03:46:51

I wanted to express my gratitude for your warm and exquisite hospitality. We celebrated a wonderful long weekend in Paris. Your apartment is refreshingly zen and artistic. Thank you so much for the wine and vegetables! We warmed up by the fire, and enjoyed the bottle of wine. Our evenings were quiet and cozy. I felt like I was staying at a five-star hotel. A perfect place to nest after a day of exploring the museums and cafes. I have recommended your place to my friends, and I shall definitely be returning for another rendezvous in the future. Thank you again! 15 March 2013 - 00:02:15

Our family of four stayed in this little jewel box for a week in June/July 2014. We stayed for a week in an apartment in London prior to this. Having always stayed in hotels until this trip, our experience with this apartment has won us over to apartment rentals. The Atelier is so beautifully designed that it was truly a relaxing and enjoyable place to return to after long and crowded summer days in Paris. From the darling bedroom with its armoire and comfortable bedding down the spiral staircase to the fully equipped chef's kitchen, and old stone walls of the bathroom, each part of this apartment is thoughtfully designed and furnished. It is as represented in the photos- perhaps even better! Here's what we also appreciated- * A large beautiful bowl filled with fresh vegetables for our use. (After a week in London we were craving vegetables!) * A large bowl of tomatoes on the dining table. * Fully stocked with laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid, toilet paper, dishwasher tablets, new kitchen sponge, plastic bags and the things you don't want to have to purchase for your week's vacation. (Our apartment in London did not provide these.) * Wonderful shampoo and body wash for our use. (Again another touch our other apartment rental in London did not provide) * Hair dryer * Electrical adapters left for our use in addition to the built in one in the kitchen perfectly located for phone/ipad charging. * Lovely sheets and towels. * A sofa bed our kids said was quite comfortable and a big screen t.v. for them to watch the World Cup. * Proximity to the Arts et Metiers metro (one block) and walking distance to great shopping (Marais) Notre Dame (15 min) and the Louvre (20-25 min). * Carforte (sp?) grocery store is right by the metro- one block away. We could not be more pleased with our stay at this lovely apartment and hope to return some day. We would not hesitate to recommend it to friends. We have to add that we had some concerns when we google mapped the location and saw the street view. The apartment is located in the Asian handbag section of the Marais and I was a bit concerned that it was going to be full of trucks, noise and perhaps not 'french' enough. This is truly of no concern. The apartment is down a charming alley with a wonderful wine bar and patisserie. Behind the wood alley door lies a courtyard leading to the first floor apartment (with a charming spiral staircase up to the bedroom). It is a very safe area. 08 July 2014 - 18:41:26

This place is worth renting. I stayed with a friend for 10 days and we just loved the place. We were greeted by the coordinator, and he made sure to explain all the electronics in the apt. For the ten days we were never intruded upon by the coordinator but he was always available if we needed him, which we didn't. The place is beautiful, and the design unique; it also is very clean, and quite. The apt looks like all the pictures presented in VRBO. When I return to Paris, I'll be staying in the apt again, as it really did feel like home. I loved it and hated to leave. 04 May 2015 - 15:52:18

We rented this apt. for 4 nights in July. It was beautiful and so convenient to everything. The restaurants in the area were fantastic! The property manager, David, was excellent and very accommodating. Beds/bedrooms were all very comfortable. Loved having a washer and dryer. The only draw back was the time we were there, it was very very hot and there were no fans to alleviate the heat. I would highly recommend this apt. to anyone traveling to Paris. Fits 6 people very comfortably. 27 July 2015 - 17:13:55

Wonderful apartment beautifully appointed perfect for those looking to experience Paris as lived by Parisians. Great markets nearby for produce, meats, fish and wine. Lovely spacious public rooms for relaxing and entertaining. Great property manager available to take care of any issues that may arise. Would return in a minute. Bonus: When we arrived there was a gorgeous basket of fresh vegetables, bread and wine sitting on the counter so we could toss together a nice meal without having to leave the premises. Bravo! 14 October 2015 - 01:34:37

We have stayed at Atelier twice in the last two years, each time was fantastic. The apartment is well maintained and perfectly located near major attractions. The metro station is a block away. The grocery store is a block away. There are about 10 restaurants within a few steps, all very good. There are markets for bread, fruit and cheese nearby. The apartment kitchen is as nice as you will find anywhere, and very large. You have every amenity and appliance possible. The apartment is spacious and quiet. We could not have asked for better accommodations or service. The manager David will tell you all you need to know and is available by text/email 24-7. My family gives this rental 5 stars and we'd give it a 10 if that were possible. We hope to return as soon as possible. Enjoy! 11 April 2016 - 21:30:55

The apartment is lovely and well appointed, and we enjoyed the location. We had a nice dinner at the Moroccan restaurant a few doors down. The kitchen (including vegetables for ratatouille and wine), fireplace, and tv meant that it was a nice place to be for a long stay over Christmas. We rented both parts, which gave us plenty of space for our family of four. It's good to understand the layout- for us it was fine because we were comfortable going through the studio bedroom to the bathroom- otherwise you have to go downstairs, which are tricky and tough on bare feet, so you'd probably rather not do it in the middle of the night. We had thought my older parents might join us; it wouldn't have been an easy place for them to manage. The folks we dealt with beforehand and checking in were helpful. However, the studio bed definitely had bed bugs. I realize that's a risk of the travel world, and it certainly wasn't because the place wasn't clean, but I was disappointed in how they handled it. I told the on-site manager (David) and the woman with whom we made the reservation (Michelle) and did not get a response other than "That's never been a problem" and "I'll talk to the owners." It was a huge hassle for us to do what we needed to do protect our home (including a chunk of time and money in a laundry mat and bagging our luggage and other unwashable items). In addition, we discovered that our daughter is allergic to the bites; she had huge bumps all over her face and body, and had to go to the doctor for prescription medications to get the reaction under control. We left on 28 December and the bites are now finally going down and are less itchy (10 days after we checked out). 08 January 2017 - 13:29:00
