About listing

Note to Guests: One of our goals is to help people in need. To accomplish this we give 10% of our proceeds to health foundations that provide support for those that are in need. Thanks to our guests, we are able to help provide a better future for women, children, and people of all ages. Full Description: A perfect place for travelers new and old to Montreal. I recently purchased this house for use as a second/summer home, but would love for others to experience Montreal at an inviting place when I'm not there. Before the purchase, the home was featured on the Canadian version of HGTV's 'Buy This House,' which showcases properties that have been updated or restored to upscale or historical standards. I have tried to think of everything. It is not some cheap rental where the furniture wobbles and the furnishings are sparse. This is 1280 sq ft of home, where you can stretch out and relax after a day of exploring the city, read a book in the separate office off the living room, cook a meal in the full-kitchen, enjoy sleeping on a king-size bed or entertain guests in the huge dining room area. It's a home located in such a vibrant area of the Plateau, close to everything. I've rented from others while visiting Montreal for years and, hopefully, learned from others what to do AND what not to do. If you want to travel well and not worry about the little things, then consider this home. I'm sorry I did not have a great wide-angle lens to make the property look as nice as it is. I've had many parties rent from me and almost every one of them has emailed or called to tell me what a wonderful time they had staying here. The amenities that separate this home from others are: --king size bed, walk-in closet, tv and dvd, dresser, night stands in the master bedroom --queen bed in second bedroom --full kitchen and large dining room that seats 8 --living room with attached office/library --46' lcd tv with cable --computer for surfing the internet --wi-fi access --sofa with pull-out double bed --washer/dryer --shampoo, toilet paper, paper towels, soap It's a great place. It's close to everything the city has to offer. You will definitely not be disappointed. Keywords:

We have just returned to Chicago after a wonderful and unforgettable visit to Montreal. This apartment was the perfect place for us. Perfectly located for our needs. Check in and check out was a breeze. Communication with the owners was excellent. The apartment itself was wonderful. Better than the description and photos show. Super comfy beds. Large kitchen and dining room ideal for cooking and eating when we were tired from exploring the city. Very convenient to transportation. Sherbrooke Metro just a few blocks away. 144 and 360 bus stops right at the corner. The women enjoyed browsing the boutiques on St. Denis and St. Laurent. We found the local bistros and restaurants near the apartment to be excellent (and later found out that they are among the highest rated in the city). We discovered several of them by accident while wandering around the neighborhood and had many excellent meals. By the time Saturday evening came around we were tired from all our exploring and decided to try the little place across Des Pins. Little did we know that it had such a long standing reputation and long history as being one of the finest bistros in the city. Theres really no need to leave this wonderful neighborhood, but if you want to transportation is easy. We highly recommend this apartment and will stay here when we return to Montreal. 16 November 2012 - 20:43:01

This apt exceeded our expectations. We have used VRBO several times and this was the nicest place we have stayed. The others were good but this was so comfortable we brought dinner in several nights. - Not only isthe apt large and comfortable, but it is very reasonable. And the location could not be better. This was our second time staying on the Plateau in Montreal and we will certainly stay again. The owners were wonderful- including not getting upset that I broke the key locking the door as we were leaving for the airport. They were amazingly gracious. I always wonder about these recommendations- but this is truly a fabulous place. The only drawback is the typical Montreal steep stairs into the apt. Only thing they could add would be a book for comments on restaurants, etc. Thanks for the wonderful visit! 23 November 2012 - 05:01:03

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this apartment. It was steps from just about everything we wanted to do in the Plateau. The apartment was clean and comfortable (and warm). Elias and Abe were prompt in answering questions and had helpful tips for the area. Because of the great location, we discovered additional restaurants and points of interest that we might have otherwise missed or overlooked. We walked everywhere and occasionally used the Metro to get to farther away placess like the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (unexpected and interesting Napoleon exhibit, BTW). A few practical comments - things of note: - Try to find the local newspaper ("The Plateau"). There are usually free copies in many of the shops. You can find articles and ads of interest on the neighborhood. This is how we discovered the concerts given by the Conservatory of Music and Drama of Quebec. They are fun and inexpensive. - Although there is street parking, you must be very observant of the street signs to make sure you are not parking in a resident-only section. There isn't that much non-resident parking available, and there are specific days/times for street cleaning so you can't leave your car unattended for more than a few days at a time. We had to move our car a couple of times and had to circle a bit before we ended up finding a valid spot a few blocks away on the other side of St-Denis. We didn't drive otherwise. - The jacuzzi wasn't operational. It wasn't a big deal for us so we didn't pursue the question. Since the building is old, we speculate it may have been removed out of noise consideration for the neighbors. We really look forward to staying here during a future visit to Montreal. 06 January 2013 - 15:00:41

Staying at this apartment allows you to experience the local offerings of the Plateau and is so easy to get to downtown/Old Montreal. There are many shops and restaurants within walking distance. A real community spirit. The apartment itself is clean and well maintained. Would recommend. 12 May 2013 - 19:07:28

We heard that this apartment was a great place to stay from our friends so we decided to try it. We were very happy that we took their advise. The place was beautiful and the owners were very accommodating. We had great sleeps and enjoyed making dinners and having a glass of wine. We plan on coming back in the summer again and would recommend staying here. 06 February 2014 - 19:22:07

We loved the location of this place. It was close to so many great restaurants. Pintxo, Moishes, Maman Claf. Something, Academie. We really enjoyed bringing our on wine to the restaurants. The apartment was very spacious and relaxing. We really enjoyed our stay and the convenience. It was interesting, we never felt lost, we felt close to everything. We are looking forward to our stay next year 06 February 2014 - 06:33:38

We really enjoyed our stay at the apartment. It was nice to have a home to come to and relax while in Montreal. The place was clean and welcoming. We try to use vrbo for our trips and found that this apartment was perfect for our trip to Montreal 05 February 2014 - 17:25:44

We were two couples on a mini vacation and the apartment was perfect. The rooms are separated and private which was nice. The kitchen is big and since we love to cook it was great to have a full kitchen. The dining room seated 6-8 people which was plenty for us and the living room was nice and cozy. We would definitely stay here again 12 February 2014 - 19:22:55

We just spent a long weekend here, exploring the city and visiting McGill. The apartment was perfect for our needs - close to everything, warm and cozy, thoughtfully furnished and equipped, and very comfortable for our family of 4. Loved being so close to St. Laurent and St. Denis restaurants and shops, and walking distance from McGill/downtown/old Montreal. Will definitely be back! 25 March 2014 - 18:22:42

We just spent 4 nights in this lovely apartment that really was the prefect location for us. It was close to shopping, restaurants, old Montreal and made getting around very easy. The coffee shop around the corner made amazing croissants for breakfast. The apartment itself was very clean and comfortable, though missing a full length mirror made getting ready for a night out more difficult. The owners were great to deal with; very prompt, and helped us out when we couldn't get the lockbox open when we arrived. I would definitely recommend this apartment and hope to visit it again someday! 02 June 2014 - 20:27:18

Great place, incredibly well stocked (we lacked for nothing), truly in the "heart of the Plateau". Walking distance to everything, market right below (buy your wine and beer there... cheap), Metro a few blocks away, Bixi bike share stations everywhere, close to some of the best parks in Montreal, and sandwiched between some of the City's best streets (St. Laurent and St. Denis). Spent a few days there with my wife and our two young kids and we all loved it. No car, walked everywhere. Great place for families (though be mindful of the steep front steps if you have kids that are still wobbly). Very hard to leave. Felt very much like a home. We will definitely be back! 23 August 2014 - 03:33:16

The apartment is beautiful, excellently located with all the comforts required for a relaxing stay. If you are looking for a clean place to enjoy some relaxation time, this is the place. If you are looking for a place which you can walk 100 meters (in each direction) and eat at some of the finest dining in Montreal, this is the place. This apartment is an excellent place to call home while visiting Montreal. 10 April 2015 - 16:35:52

Excellent home to stay. We would stay again without hesitation. The apartment is very spacious. There are four rooms not including a large kitchen and dining area. We traveled as a family of four and used the large master bedroom (cal king bed and walk in closet), second bedroom (queen), and third living room (sofa bed). The hosts are incredibly thoughtful. We found all the comforts of home. The kitchen, bathroom, laundry are all generously appointed. The place is very versatile; it could accommodate a variety of groups with a range of needs. For example, it is child friendly they have crib and toys for families with young children and yet the place is beautiful and would be wonderful for an exclusively adult crowd. Location is excellent. We were planning to rent a car but this was unnecessary. It is 2 1/2 blocks from St. Laurent with multiples restaurants, groceries and shopping and it is 4 easy blocks to the metro. We definitely recommend this place highly. The only caution is that if you are a person with mobility issues, like most older building in the area the entrance has steep stairs to navigate. 10 June 2016 - 15:47:12

We just came back from a great stay in Montreal in this delightful spacious apartment. The location cannot be beat - close to metro and bus - so close to Blvd., St. Laurent. The apartment is spacious and very clean with all mod cons and well stocked - excellent closet space in the master bedroom also. We had a very early departure time - so I did not run the dishwasher for fear of disturbing the downstairs neighbours. The neighbourhood is quiet and very secure - and far too close to La Diperie for my waistline!!! We walked to Beautys, Schwartzs, Moishes and shows on St. Laurent for the Comedy Festival. Would definitely stay here again. I think we practically lived on the 55 bus route! Grania Sherr 08 August 2016 - 17:37:31

My wife and I spent labor day weekend in this great home on the Plateau. We especially enjoyed the beautiful neighborhood and the proximity to the Mont Royal trails. The stairs getting in and out are steep, so don't stay here if you have any mobility issues. The home was as described in the ad and we would definitely stay here again. 20 September 2016 - 20:27:57

The place has plenty of space, well furnished and decorated. Spotless clean. The kitchen is well equipped this time I did not cook but only breakfast. Overall I would recommended this place and definitely consider it on my next trip. 06 November 2017 - 14:25:00

We stayed for 5 days (Sun night through Fri am) and enjoyed the place for many reasons. First, the interior is beautiful -- a sympathetic blend of old and new. Where historic elements had to be replaced (crown molding, for example), it was done to match the old that could be preserved. Modern elements (such as the numerous small ceiling spotlights) were discreet and added to the overall comfort of the rooms. The place was clean and extremely well-equipped with consumable as well as non-consumable supplies (dish soap, laundry soap, zipper storage bags for food, kitchen equipment). There was a computer available for guests; towels by the dozen;. a deep quirky tub as well as a separate modern shower and plenty of very hot water; air conditioning, which was badly needed during the unprecedented September heat wave that lasted most of our stay; flat screen tv in bedroom as well as living room; comfortable, good quality furniture as the owners had promised. When we had need to contact them (in Calgary), they replied promptly and gave helpful answers to questions. When a repair to the front door was needed, they sent their local handyman quickly. Parking was generally available in front of or near the flat. The location is safe and quiet. The negatives? Only one for us, which others have mentioned. The Montreal-typical outdoor stairway leading up to the entry door is long (18 - 20 steps) and steep. Really long, really steep. I think that, if we had realized just how long and steep, we would have booked elsewhere. But we are in our 70s and chose to disregard the warnings others have posted. The permanent residents on the third floor scamper up and down (really scamper!) without putting a hand on the railing, so it's obviously something you can get used to. Just don't underestimate the stairway or the number of times you may want to go up and down. 30 September 2017 - 16:23:00

Overall great stay -- The place was huge, close to subway, buses and great neighbourhoods to explore. A few minor pieces could have improved the stay, namely hotter water in the shower (granted, it was -20C when we visited), the inclusion on bathroom amenities (blow dryer, shampoo, etc), and repairs on the kitchen chairs (2.5 were broken when we arrived), instructions for the complicated crib set up. Otherwise great place, responsive hosts, we would stay here again! 02 January 2018 - 14:20:00

We reserved a stay for 3 nights, but only stayed for one. We arrived late the first night, and while we were out for a walk and lunch, the place was broken into and my Apple laptop computer and a few other possessions were stolen. We had locked the doors but someone either had a key or came through a window or through the back door. We did not feel safe staying at this apartment as my husband and I were traveling with a one-year old. We were also disappointed with the broken fans and exposed wires. We had asked for a crib, which was there, however, we could not find any sheets. This was not a safe place for young children. When we originally tried to call 911, we realized the apartment phone did not allow out going calls. Overall, it was a stressful situation and added a challenge to our 1-week Quebec vacation. VRBO did make alternative arrangements and paid for us to stay at a hotel in downtown Montreal. 27 December 2017 - 17:57:00
