I was looking for a place to have a girls weekend when I came across this lovely cottage. The landlords are a breath of fresh air. They were responsive and accommodating. Not to mention, their house is beautiful and very comfortable. The house comfortably slept all six of us and exceeded all of our various expectations. Location / Place: The property has a great remote feel being tucked away in a pear orchard, but is still very close to Sonoma Town Square and other major nearby attractions / amenities. House: The house is really nicely decorated, comfortable, and well equipped. Backyard: Easily my favorite part of the house, the backyard provides a few different nooks for hanging out, sunning, eating and just general relaxing. The pool is not huge but great for slashing around, and it's saline. Landlords: Good people! Needless to say, we really enjoyed our stay and I hope to have an opportunity to return. 04 September 2013 - 02:25:32

I stayed at this rental property for a long weekend in September. There were 5 women in total and it was the perfect amount of space. The house was spotless and the owners checked in on the phone to ensure that everything was ok. The backyard is fabulous!! Nice pool, BBQ, ping pong table, and a few sitting areas. It's a short drive to the cute town centre and good shopping and meals. Nice spot! The addition of a full length mirror in any of the bedrooms would be great. 27 September 2013 - 22:07:12

We rented the orchard cottage to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday. It was perfect! The house was immaculate and extremely well done. All the finishing touches were lovely, including lanterns sprinkled around the backyard, all solar powered with flame-less candles - much more than you would ever expect for a rental house - the owners definitely went above and beyond to create a comfortable, welcoming, chic atmosphere, that rivals any contemporary hotel. The rooms were large (even the closets were huge) and kitchen, with brand new stainless steel appliances, was well equipped. If you plan on having a nice dinner party while staying there, however, I would suggest bringing your own wine glasses (if having matching glasses is something that matters to you). But the rest of the tableware/server-ware/glassware wast wonderful, especially for a rental home! One other suggestion for the owners would be to store a throw blanket somewhere in the family room, to make it even more comfortable and inviting. The owners were very helpful in answering questions throughout the process and very accommodating with our requests. Thank you, Jamie & Stephanie, for all your suggestions and information on the area! The only negative feedback from our group was regarding the liability release waivers all overnight guests were required to sign. We were required to return them well in advance of our stay, which meant I had to nag guests for their waivers. I understand wanting to protect oneself as the property owner, but this seemed a little overkill. Plus, you would think VRBO would include coverage for homeowners in the rental agreements... Traffic from the house to Sonoma Square is bad if you take Hwy 12, but it's a quick, easy trip if you take Arnold Drive. We had lunch at El Dorado Kitchen, outside by the pool, which was wonderful; dinner at the Girl & the Fig - delicious; and brunch at Sunflower Cafe - great waffles and smoothies - all in Sonoma Plaza. You really don't need to leave orchard cottage though, the house is so inviting and the backyard is perfect. We can't wait for our next stay! 21 October 2013 - 19:14:50

A true hidden gem! We had an absolutely perfect stay! Location of cottage is the best as it is a very short drive to both the towns of Sonoma and Glen Ellen however it is also quiet and peaceful away from the maddening crowds. Also, very close to dozens of great wineries and world class restaurants! The cottage itself was spotless and beautifully decorated with an artistic professional touch. Kitchen was a dream in which to cook as all utensils and appliances were provided with a chef's touch. We loved relaxing in the beautiful back yard and although we were not able to enjoy the swimming pool as the weather did not allow it, we still appreciated looking out over the beautiful orchard and the peaceful tranquility of watching the many birds! 21 February 2014 - 05:05:26

We had such a lovely time at your charming cottage in Sonoma. Very relaxing and close to the town square and many wineries. We especially liked the pear jam you made from the pears from the orchard. We can't wait to return for another relaxing weekend! 26 February 2014 - 00:02:09

My girlfriends and I reserved this home located half way between the Sonoma Square and downtown Glen Ellen for a girls weekend in wine country. The Orchard Cottage was so peaceful and beautifully situated on a large parcel down a quiet country lane, yet downtown Sonoma is a short 7 minute drive away. The highlight of the home is the beautiful back yard, although the weather during our stay did not allow us to enjoy the yard and pool fully. Nevertheless, the home exudes character and beauty, and truly allows you to feel like you got away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The interior of the home is well appointed, having recently been remodeled with the highest quality millwork I've seen. The kitchen, while not expansive, more than met our needs for daily breakfast preparation and even a full dinner one night, when we decided at the last minute to cancel a dinner reservation in Glen Ellen. The dining table is well appointed for a larger group to sit, if extra seating is needed (we didn't, we just ate in the kitchen at the 4 top table). This home is the perfect spot for a family or a girls weekend. Finally, the owners are very accommodating and proactively communicative. They even called a day in to our 3 day visit to inquire how things were going, and I was happy to report all was well. I would gladly rent the Orchard Cottage in the future...a great experience all the way around, even on a drizzly weekend. I highly recommend this VRBO property! 10 May 2014 - 04:45:19

This home in Sonoma is beautifully appointed. Every need has been anticipated. The home is spacious, comfortable, and beautiful. It has a quiet, spacious backyard with pool, seating area, lounges, eating table and pear orchard with a labyrinth to the side of the home. Could not recommend this house more highly. The kitchen is fully functional with the best appliances and amenities. And the most delicious homemade seasonal jam is provided. 05 June 2014 - 16:36:24

This was a very beautiful home. Everything seemed to be brand new. The backyard is perfect for lounging and eating breakfast. The pool is great too. The house is beautifully decorated, perfectly fits six people. The location is just out from all sorts of activities. Also great for a run/walk around the house. We stayed for a friend's wedding and all had a great time cooking and lounging together. I would definitely recommend it to a group of friends who want to explore Sonoma. The orchard around he house is beautiful too. All in all, a beautiful And very relaxing place to stay. 12 June 2014 - 07:15:50

A group of girlfriends and I had a yoga-wine tasting weekend getaway (Vine-asa!) and we could not have picked a more perfect spot than this cottage. The location was quiet and peaceful and yet we were never more than a 10-15 minute drive from any of the wineries or the town. The place truly is charming nestled beside an orchard. We did yoga every morning by the pool, which was the perfect place to cool off after a 2-hour class. After a day of winery tours, we were back in the pool sipping the wine we bought and watching deer nibble around in the back yard. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is perfectly stocked with everything you need to cook. In fact, we ended up blowing off almost every dinner we had planned at the great restaurants in town and opted to bbq and eat in our own awesome backyard. The owners were also great - making sure we had great directions, info about the place and the area and even providing us with yoga mats so we didn't have to travel with our own. This place is truly a gem! It was a fabulous experience and we hope to return next year. 21 July 2014 - 22:59:04

Clean house with tasteful decor Two very comfortable bed - king and queen. Twin beds rather hard in our opinion Nice pool and back yard ambiance - soft pool cover only so in my opinion could be dangerous for small children Neighbor's house is close by the back yard Well stocked kitchen - could use some sharper knives Wifi was slow Only complaint we had was that the only back porch light was burnt out so we were unable to see grilling out on our first night there and we had to swap the bulb from another fixture (no extras in the house) ourselves which made me nervous as I did not want to break the glass fixture and it was not easy to remove. Would be good if housekeeping could check this single light source is working properly with each turnover. 07 August 2014 - 18:18:08

The house was ideally located for roaming Sonoma Valley wineries and is close the town of Sonoma itself. It's out of the fray of the summer tourists, and we really enjoyed coming back to the house for an afternoon lounging in the pool. It was a particularly hot week when we were there, but the house AC and pool temp kept us cool. The backyard is a thoughtfully designed and very relaxing, with plenty of shade and seating for the six of us ladies. I would have liked to stay longer, even if only to hang-out out back. The house is very comfortable, with a large dining table and a well-stocked kitchen which made staying in for some or our meals a treat. We would have like to eat outside, but this time of year the bees were busy and wouldn't leave the food alone...they didn't bother us otherwise. I would highly recommend this house for families, 3 couples, or a group of girlfriends. It was a perfect choice for us, and I really appreciate the professional yet personal approach that Stephanie and Jamie have in managing their rental home. I've rented through VRBO for close to 15 years, and this is one of the nicer experiences I've had. Thanks! 13 August 2014 - 02:18:57

We were absolutely delighted with our stay at Orchard Cottage. The house is beautifully appointed, with quality furnishings and an abundance of cookware, crockery, glassware, etc. There are even very civilized communal supplies such as olive oil and ground pepper. The beds, linens, etc. are easily the quality of a 3- (or perhaps even 4) star hotel. The patio area is particularly nice with two picnic tables and plenty of chairs and chaise loungesideal for entertaining. The pool is small but is kept at a comfortable temperature. It is on a quiet street with a pear orchard on one side and is ideally located for visiting wineries in both Sonoma and Glen Ellen. Overall our only disappointment was the lack of reading lamps beside the bedsbut perhaps we are rare birds who like to read in bed on vacation. 14 September 2014 - 21:48:24

For my 40th birthday, I planned a trip a year in advance to visit Napa/Sonoma. A place was booked and less than 2 months before the trip, the renter cancelled on us due to Sonoma County zoning. With limited availability of places for our group, especially during Harvest, I was fortunate to come across Orchard Cottage. The house and grounds were amazing. Everything was spotless and well maintained. The kitchen was fully stocked and had brand new appliances. We woke up every morning to wild turkeys running through the yard which made for interesting conversation and a few off the wall pictures. We will definitely be back. 23 September 2014 - 17:03:59

We are from Canada and decided to plan a girl's getaway to Sonoma since we are all turning 30 this year. The pictures really don't do this place justice; the backyard is absolutely beautiful! We spent most of our time out there, sun bathing, eating breakfast, napping in the shade and using the barbecue. At night we sat outside with a glass of wine listening to the crickets. The home decor is funky and bohemian, and the beds were very comfy with clean, soft sheets. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet, private home to stay while visiting the local wineries. 22 July 2015 - 15:31:54

A group of friends travelled from Boston to run the Napa to Sonoma half marathon (which is a fantastic course!). Orchard Cottage was a fantastic home base for the half marathon and provided an amazing space to unwind after the race. The location was perfect to relax in the peace and quite, make our way in to Sonoma or Napa for dinner and visit the local wineries. The home itself was clean, comfortable, and inviting; the outdoor space was absolutely stunning. We'll definitely be back! 30 July 2015 - 14:24:57

We rented Orchard Cottage for a small Bachelorette weekend. We are mostly from the East coast and loved the ability to enjoy the amazing pool and outdoor space. The entire home was well thought out with great linens, entertaining spaces and beautiful fixtures. You can tell a lot of thought is put in to not just the general maintenance of the home, but how people actually live (even if they're only there for a couple of glorious days). We stayed in to enjoy the home one night for dinner and the kitchen had all the needed items in the exact places we would have kept them. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were beautiful. You can tell that a lot of care and attention has been paid to the home. It's a short drive to the Sonoma Square and many vineyards are just down the way. We would definitely stay here again! 18 August 2015 - 17:14:00

We just returned from 3 blissful days at this beautiful home and cannot wait for our next stay. At the outset, Stephanie was very responsive and easy to deal with. She sent check-in and check-out instructions for the home a few weeks prior, and gave excellent directions to the home. When we arrived, there was a bottle of Rose and a small jar of homemade jam on the table, which was such a sweet touch. The home description and photographs are accurate, but do not do this gorgeous home enough justice! The house is impeccably maintained and very clean. The kitchen is spacious, with high-end appliances and every kitchen gadget you could want or need. There is a nice eat-in area with a 4 person table in the kitchen with a big window opening to the front yard. The combination dining room (with a very large table) and living room, with a couch and chairs, was perfect for meals we were not eating outside or relaxing after the quiet hours. (All wine country rentals have a strict 10 p.m. quiet hour start time.) The dcor in the home was quite eclectic and unique. Each of the 3 bedrooms were well appointed with very comfortable beds and pillows. The room with the twin beds was perfect for our 3 year old and 5 year old, and the master suite worked great for our friends and their 1 year old son who slept in a pack-and-play. The 3rd bedroom worked well for my husband and I, and felt spacious. The hall bathroom is well appointed, although there were not enough towels for 4 people. (I am sure there were extra towels somewhere, we just couldn't find them.) The piece de resistance of this property is definitely the back yard. It is such a serene, inviting space. There are ample seating areas: a small table with four chairs next to the pool; 4 Adirondack chairs and a table next to a beautiful tree; an outdoor couch and two armchairs with another table on the patio; four lounge chairs on the patio; and a large outdoor dining table under an umbrella. The potted red flowers throughout the backyard were so lovely and an excellent contrast to the green shrubbery. The pool was warmed to the perfect temperature for both us and our kids. The finish on the pool is very smooth, without being slippery. The entire pool is the same depth (about 3.5 feet) which was perfect for adults and kids alike. I cannot say enough about this beautiful property. Book it! You won't regret it. 09 June 2017 - 17:38:00

We have stayed in several VRBO's and this was by far the best! Pictures were accurate. We loved all of the attention to detail. Well stocked. Owners very accomadating, welcoming and friendly. Very well stocked kitchen. Immaculate house yard and pool. Would reserve it yearly without a doubt if we lived closer. Highly recommend! 22 June 2014 - 10:32:21

We had a lovely stay at this property in Sonoma. The home was well appointed - we had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The beds were very comfortable which is a very important factor in my book :) We had six of us for three days and several of them were a little disappointed at some of the "rules"......1. such specific garbage rules, 2.having a friend be able to visit with us in Sonoma but then not being able to have the possibility to bring her air mattress to put on the floor because this owner only wanted 6 total - that made it necessary for her to drive back to San Francisco--that just seemed silly to some of us since we aren't staying up late making noise and partying or anything like that. We left the home as clean as if it were our own. Two of the women thought the "rules" took a little away from their total relaxation of their vacation and that is why we are giving it 4 stars instead of five.. But overall, still a very nice place to come back to from wine tasting or hiking and be able to enjoy the rest of the evening in a beautiful back yard. 02 October 2017 - 01:41:00
