About listing

Sydney is the Capital that all other cities love to hate; with glorious weather, glamorous people, stunning beaches and great surf, world-class restaurants and outrageously fashionable bars, the city seemingly has it all. And, dam it, don’t we know it. You won’t want to leave. Read the reviews and see. SUMMARY: IF YOU CAN WALK ON WATER IT IS 1 KM TO THE CITY. The City IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE. •AIRPORT 20 min by Taxi • Ferry: 12 minutes to the City centre which takes you under the Sydney Harbour Bridge & past the Opera House. WOW. • Bus stop on the corner. 10-15 min to City, Darling Harbour an Chinatown. • 10-minute peaceful walk to ferry. • TAXI's and Uber always close by • Quiet and tranquil. you would never know you are so close to the City. • Free street parking outside the house. • Sydney Harbour views to City Skyline-Chinatown and Darling Harbour. • Direct east facing, sunny, balconies onto views, east, and west. •Located one house from a corner with no other houses to the right. • Fully equipped modern kitchen • Shower with Bath • Area: 115m^2 (interior) + 4 m^26m^2 balconies + 24m^2 Rooftop Garden. Built around one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the world, Sydney’s shimmering soul reveals an iconic landscape that to many signifies ‘Australia.’ The Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, myriad sandstone headlands, lazy bays and scalloped shorelines are breathtakingly beautiful. Sydneysiders know that there is more to this city than its good looks. It’s Australia’s oldest, largest and most diverse city, with captivating monuments, urban galleries, magnificent museums and outstanding sandstone buildings, a vivacious performing arts scene and an edgy multiculturalism that injects colour throughout the community. At the heart of the city is Sydney Harbour (Port Jackson) ; the city centre runs from The Rocks and Circular Quay to Central Station in the south. The Harbour divides Sydney into the north and south, with the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Harbour Tunnel connecting the two shores. Immediately to the West, (East Balmain) is where we are located with Darling Harbour also close by. You are literary just minutes from the city centre, accessible by Ferry (Darling St Wharf) or bus. The ferry passes under the Harbour Bridge and right by the Opera House to Circular Quay in 12 minutes or to Darling Harbour in 5 minutes. What are you waiting for? We have two properties side by side, VRBO 360715 and 618362, so if the one you are looking at is already booked, then check the other one. Still not sure? Then go and read our reviews. The house is fully furnished. Hotel quality white linen and towels, china, glassware, flatware and cookware. Set on two levels, three, if you count the rooftop terrace. On the ground level is the kitchen, a combined pantry and laundry with WC, then the formal dining room and elegant living/lounge room with French doors leading on to a front patio with unobstructed City and Habour views. Both rooms have white Carrara marble surround fire places. Upstairs the 3 bedrooms are each furnished traditionally and complemented with original brass bed. There is an ensuite bathroom off the rear bedroom. Both front and rear bedrooms have sizable wrap around balconies offering extensive views to The Sydney Harbour Bridge, The Anzac Bridge, Darling Harbour and the Sydney City skyline itself with cruise liners berthing directly adjacent to the house. NO EVENT PARTIES NO INDIAN OR ANY OTHER ASIAN COOKING ALLOWED.

What a fabulous stay! Beautiful, clean and spacious 3 bedroom condo with 2 amazing decks to have your meals on and enjoy the view of Sydney harbour! Perfect location in suburb of Balmain - just a 5 minute walk to the convenient Sydney ferries (and then just a 5 min very pleasurable ferry ride to Sydney harbour). You definitely don't need a car - Sydney's ferry/train/bus system is fantastic. Every amenity you can think of has been provided by Lyn and Giacomo - every kitchen item you can think of, beautiful wooden kitchen table, fans in every room, towels, washer/dryer, iPhone recharger/player (remember your converter if coming from N America!) etc. We especially loved the two decks where we enjoyed our breakfast and dinners while enjoying the view. Grocery store less than 10min walk and if you prefer eating out, then plenty of restaurants nearby which looked great. I would highly recommend this condo if you are visiting Sydney. Lyn and Giacomo were also very accommodating and allowed us to check in early and check out late because of our flight times which was much appreciated. 25 March 2015 - 16:14:06

The property exceeded our expectations. Can't wait to see the pre wedding photos our daughter had taken here. Even the photographer was excited. An awesome house! 22 April 2015 - 05:19:38

This is our second stay and this time was just as perfect as the first. We were actually upgraded to the house from the gorgeous studio where we'd stayed previously and the house too was an absolute delight. We loved the balconies with beautiful views and enjoyed having our coffee and muesli out there each morning. The bed in the front room where we stayed was very comfortable - we slept incredibly well. Adored the big kitchen and cooked a couple of light dinners there during our stay. The soaking tub was also fantastic and wecome as it helped soothe our muscles after our runs. In addition to the beautiful house itself, the neighbourhood is also fantastic. As this was our second visit to Sydeny and we'd done many of the touristy things last time, we actually spent a couple of days just wandering around Balmain. The cafe culture is great - in East Balmain, we can recommend Ciao Thyme (get their sandwiches and have a picnic on the wharf) and Euforia (who make great Chai Lattes). For those who like walking, C'est Bon is just up Darling Street in Rozelle and makes great pastries. For restaurants, be sure to visit the hidden gem of Mantecato (a lovely little Italian restaurant). We also loved many of the walks we did in and around Balmain, and the foreshore walk to Birchgrove was a particular delight (so many beautiful views). I would be remiss if I didn't mention one of the best parts of our stay - our amazing hosts. We were lucky once again that they were in town, so we got to have some really lovely chats. Both of them are so welcoming and it is largely because of them that we were able to make the above recommendations around restaurants and walks - they provide superior advice. They also go above and beyond in many other ways. For example, we were particularly thrilled to be able to leave our luggage behind on our last day, so we could do more explorations of the area before flying home. It is this combination of hosts, home, and neighbourhood that makes this place so perfect! 23 September 2015 - 21:00:00

This was our 3rd visit to Lyn and Giacomo's beautiful Balmain residence. We'd previously stayed in the studio, but on this occasion we were in the house. And what a house it is. Everything you could ever want. Including 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, fabulous kitchen, laundry, roof terrace with views across the harbour, herbs galore in the garden, with 'the cherry on the cake' being the wonderful hosts Lyn and Giacomo. Access to the city is just so easy by ferry or bus, plus the walks around Balmain's harbour parks and streets are relaxing and architecturally interesting. And there is no need to worry about where to find a place to have coffee or meals. If you plan to dine out in Balmain the selection is wide and varied, and within walking distance. When planning to visit Sydney, my advice would be to make sure you contact Lyn and Giacomo with a view to booking your stay in one of their wonderful Balmain accommodations. 20 October 2015 - 01:34:50

So, I wanted something truly special for the holidays and my wedding anniversary. OMG, did I ever get that staying in this gorgeous house. If you are the type that finds comfort in the chrome, predictable, sterile homogeny of a chain hotel then maybe this place isn't for you. But, if you are a romantic, an artist or someone that can appreciate the love, tribulations, trials and triumphs of restoring a period piece heritage home, you simply can not stay anywhere else. I'll say it again, YOU SIMPLY CAN'T STAY ANYWHERE ELSE! The nouveau details, the patinaed brass fixtures (no mixing valves here), the amazing old time kick ass stove in the kitchen (don't be intimidated folks, it works great) the beautiful furniture, the iron work, the courtyard garden, the claw foot tub, the narrow staircases, everything just screams old school character awesomeness. I loved the salvaged and repurposed elements of the house. The arched windows of the back bedroom being a particularly beautiful example. The views out onto the city and harbor are outstanding. The rooftop terrace was a favorite spot, we still visited even when we moved to the studio (with occupants blessing, of course). For us, it was the only place to be for the NYE fireworks offering views of the Harbor Bridge and a panoramic view of all the other places that were shooting off fireworks at the same time. No kidding, if you claim to be a pyromaniac, you can't be taken seriously if you don't attend this event at least once before you perish. And this house is a perfect place to take in such a spectacle. Take your champagne and munchies to the roof and holler in the New Year with abandon! The location is phenomenal as both Balmain East and the City have so much to offer and it's easy to get anywhere by public transport. Lyn and Giacomo even gave us Opal cards to use which made moving about even easier. Now, a few words about Lyn and Giacomo. We met as acquaintances and left as friends. These 2 will bend over backwards to insure your stay is everything you want it to be. They are excellent communicators so, don't be shy. Tell them your wishes, your needs, your expectations. They will do everything they can to make you happy. Lyn even brought us flowers for our anniversary. My trip to Sydney is so memorable in so many ways but I can say with confidence that getting know them was absolutely one of the very best parts. Now I'm home, I am missing them and yearning to have them over for dinner. Stay here, STAY HERE!!! 18 January 2016 - 19:53:22

My fiance and I recently stayed at Giacomo and Lyn's lovely studio apartment. We only had a weekend with them but wished it could have been longer. The studio was compact, cosy, exceptionally clean and had all you needed to be completely self sufficient. The proximity to the bus and ferries to Circular Quay make this property extremely desirable. Giacomo and Lyn guided us every step of the way from arrival to departure. This is a lovely property owned by lovely people and we rate this as an all time favorite, worthy of returning. Karen and Bill 02 May 2016 - 19:48:07

Finding a suitable place online and not knowing a City can be a daunting task but in this case it was so easy. All the posted reviews and communications with the owners made it so. The Location is without question perfect for any tourist or business traveller as all the necessary transport amenities are so close by and easy to use. We ate out everyday and night and werent disappointed. For those that might want to cook occasionally the kitchen is fantastic as is the rest of the house. Travelling by Ferry under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and past the Sydney Opera House each day was just a delight. It is spectacular. The Village suburb of Balmain has lots of restaurants, bars and cool shops.. just so close to everything and no car required with such a great Public Transport System. Excellent location with great amenities. We loved it. Highly recommended. 19 December 2016 - 04:55:32

We very much enjoyed our time at this lovely home. Giacomo was very helpful and made himself available for any questions we might have, and very warm. The home is delicately furnished, and very well situated after a short beautiful walk through the park to the ferry, where all main Sydney attractions are a short ride away. 24 April 2017 - 17:12:00

We had the best time in Lyn and Giacomo's beautiful home. Fabulous French kitchen, herb garden so lush! Walking distance to ferry, grocery, coffee, shopping and restaurants. Beautiful patios on all three floors, the wind off the harbor is divine as it blows through the house. We slept with all the doors and windows open. So perfect for our wants and needs. Will definitely return here. 19 April 2017 - 19:50:00

The house was great. Very old house with lots of charm, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Great rooftop for relaxing and dining with great view. Owners are fantastic. Very helpful. I'd definitely stay here with my family again. 20 July 2017 - 15:30:00

We just returned from our stay at this beautiful home, and we plan to come back next year. Fantastic location - great night time views and close to the ferry station and downtown Balmain. Our three young children loved the house as much as we did - lots of balconies and a sun roof to explore. The house was spotless, and well appointed. Giacomo and Lynn are great hosts. Highly recommended!!! 16 March 2016 - 23:00:09

We stayed twice at this beautiful place, once at the beginning of March when we arrived in Sydney, and then again when we came back to Sydney before flying home to Canada. The location was excellent! Close to the ferry station and lots of shops & dinning. We loved the house! It was perfect for our family and our 5 year old twins loved the all the balconies (the roof top terrace was their favourite!) Giacomo and Lynn made our stay very enjoyable and comfortable. Perfect place to stay! Very highly recommended. 04 April 2016 - 22:13:19

This was such a perfect holiday spot. The location was great with views of the water, skyline and bridge. Just a short walk to town and to the ferry station. The house is so charming - decorated beautifully with an old world feel - and equipped with absolutely everything you could want or need. Nice big kitchen, great outdoor spaces including an upstairs deck area where you can watch the fireworks! The courtyard entryway to the house is so very pretty also with plants and flowers to greet you. Giacomo was great - and really responsive and easy to work with. We also rented the studio that is on the other side of the courtyard for our son since we had 3 couples in the main house and needed the extra space. It was just perfect. Highly recommend! 07 February 2016 - 15:27:26
  14. Our family of six had an amazing experience while staying at Lyn and Giacomo's home. The location is magnificent. They are extremely organized with all their information. They help with suggestions on public transportation, taxis, Uber, groceries, restaurants, and all that Sydney has to offer. The home itself is spacious, immaculate, and very easy to navigate. We were all extremely comfortable and would have loved to stay longer. I can recommend this home about reservation. 19 November 2017 - 04:43:00

We had a wonderful experience staying at Lyn & Giacoma's house. Giacoma was great at communicating with us prior to our arrival and with providing us a wealth of information during our stay. He was also extremely accommodating with checking in early after our extremely long journey from the United States. The location is excellent. We loved having breakfast on the elevated front porch while watching the cruise ships dock directly in front of the house. East Balmain has a Woolworth grocery store as well as a BWS liquor store for all your shopping needs. There are also plenty of great local restaurants there. A :20 walk down to the bottom of Darling Street will take you to the ferry where you can catch a quick ride to Darling Harbor, Pyrmont Bay, or Circular Quay. You can walk to just about any place in downtown from those three locations. It's a nice walk to the fish market from Pyrmont Bay. There are also lots of restaurants and bars just south of the Pyrmont Bay station. From Circular Quay you can walk to the opera house and the Royal Botanical Gardens. If you have a car, make sure to go to Bondi Beach to do the cliff walk. The views are absolutely amazing. Another must do suggested by Giacoma was to have breakfast in Manly at The Pantry. It is right on the beach. Both the views and the food are amazing. It is one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Parking is extremely difficult in Manly, even early in the morning because everyone arrives early to go to the beach. There is a parking garage on Gilbert Street near Belgrave Street that is an easy walk to The Pantry. I highly recommend Lyn & Giacomo's house. We absolutely loved Australia and would most definitely stay at this house again if we ever return to Sydney. 21 November 2017 - 14:42:00

Our family of 5 stayed here. Giacomo was there to greet us. It wasn't long before we also met Lyn. They are both really lovely people - very caring and genuinely wanted us to have a good experience - which we did! They took care of all our needs without delay. WE LOVED HIS HOME - outside patios for dining and great views. Each morning we woke to see yet another Cruise Ship docked across the road. On our Sky Tower SkyWalk tour we were even able to see Giacomo's home from 1,000 feet in the air! We had a good giggle about that. We spent a lot of time in the kitchen (around the table as we always do) -- everything thing was available to set the mood -- music, coffee pots of all kinds (love my morning coffee!), etc. We even cooked a few meals and had everything we needed. When you enter the property, Giacomo has a GUEST BOOK full of useful information that you might need once you arrive. I also received multiple emails prior to make everything easier - including ideas on things to do, places to eat, buses to take to the CBD and Bondi Beach, etc. I have no reservations at all about saying - 'Stay here and you will have no regrets'. Giacomo, sorry again about the wicker chair. Hope you found time to mend it. By the way, if you are looking for things to do & see here are some of our favorites: Sydney SkyWalk (this is more than just the observation deck) as you walk OUTSIDE the building, the Boathouse Restaurant on Manly is just awesome (breakfast and lunch only), a short walk from the Ferry Stop, also loved the walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee. Running out of space unfortunately. I loved my stay here bottom line - Hope you do too! Cheryl 06 December 2017 - 22:29:00

LOCATION. 10 star. Public Transport, views, amenities, household furnishings, owners, village atmosphere, historical neighborhood. Also 10 Star. We could not have chosen better. Everything was excellent and it is well worth the price for all of the above reasons. Better than being right in the city, as in Downtown, the ambience here is much better and quite frankly it only takes a few minutes by Ferry ( get "WOW factored" every time going under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and right past the Opera House) and you are in the middle of everything the city has to offer or 1 stop to Darling Harbour, also spectacular and lots of tourist sights. So easy to get everywhere and just 20 from the airport. Brilliant. 15 December 2017 - 01:04:00

This is a great property for exploring Sydney. The home is extremely comfortable, and well stocked with everything you would need. Views off various decks are stunning, and access to ferry and bus lines very convenient. Lyn and Giacomo make sure you have everything you need for a great stay. We were thrilled to have chosen this property with all we needed and such gracious hosts. 17 November 2017 - 15:37:00

We had a great stay at the Villa! It has wonderful indoor and outdoor spaces with beautiful views! The owners were delightful and very helpful with suggestions of things to do! It is only a 15 minute walk to the ferry and 5 minutes to the buses - transportation system in Sydney is outstanding! I would highly recommend this Villa! 08 January 2018 - 20:58:00

Without doubt the perfect location with more than enough amenities to make our party of five comfortable and at home. You are located in the INNER CITY. Safe, clean and vibrant with great views to top it off. Using public transport is so easy and efficient and made even more so by this location. Travelling by Ferry to the City is so spectacular, passing under the Harbour Bridge and right by the Opera House and so easy and so close. Connections to other ferries, trains and busses are all in this location. Its perfect for the tourist or business traveller. The Village atmosphere in Balmain has a distinct presence all its own, brimming with many great shops, restaurants, bakeries, cafes, pubs etc. The house itself is great, well provisioned and very comfortable. You could not choose better and the hosts are really on it. 11 January 2018 - 05:08:00
