Nestling in the heart of Chelsea in lower Manhattan's West side is this delightful apartment. Perfect for 2, my partner and I stayed there for 2 weeks and loved it. Largish by New York standards the apartment backs onto a wonderful garden with lots of greenery, flowering shrubs, a pond a small waterfall and you guessed it - real live squirrels! The location makes Times Square and Midtown easy to get to and we visited Harlem and Yankee Stadium with ease. Our hosts were Michael and Catherine Hoffer - and their large and enthusiastic canine companions. They were unfailingly cheerful and helpful. Michael helped us with our luggage and leant us a US mobile phone and an electricity adaptor. Catherine entertained us with her delicious daiquiries on 4 July. We heartily recommend this little gem to you - don't miss out. 18 October 2010 - 02:20:52

Beautiful apartment, perfect location and a very good place for discovering Manhattan. We have been to New York for the first time and thanks to convenient position of the studio we were able to see a lot from Manhattan in a few days. The apartment is very clean and comfortable and Michael as a host is just perfect he did his best for us. As I was a bit ill, I appreciated soft bed, view to the small garden, well equipped kitchen and an privacy in our flat, which was very quiet. We felt like home. Thanks Michael! 15 November 2010 - 23:29:11

The apartment is a perfect little getaway and was exactly as described. It was clean, quiet, and just the right size for me and my wife. The neighborhood has some fabulous restaurants and is easy walking distance to the major subway lines. Michael was exceptionally responsive and attentive. I would absolutely stay here again and would highly recommend this rental to anyone. 06 January 2011 - 23:00:25

We truly enjoyed our long weekend in NYC! The best accomodations in the city as far as I am concerned. Perfect for what we wanted: fabulous neighborhood, cozy, hip, clean and comfortable little place. So nice to have a kitchen along the personal touches from the owner. Recommendations for restaurants and neighborhood happenings. The Highline park is a must see, love the Chelsea neighborhood. 09 November 2011 - 05:35:00

This is our second time staying here, and like before, it was wonderful. It's a great location, but what's best is that it's in the back of the building, overlooking a pretty courtyard. So it's quiet and scenic. Also, Michael is friendly and always accessible. We are definitely planning on staying again in the near future. 05 January 2012 - 17:16:11

We arrived to a very warm welcome from Michael and thoroughly enjoyed our week spent at this apartment. After a very long flight we were delighted to find Michael had thoughtfully supplied us with some food to tide us over until we could do some shopping. The apartment is comfortable with a lovely garden outlook including squirrels-a novelty for us. We were close to the shops and restaurants of Chelsea and the Meatpacking district and a short walk from the subway, so everything we needed was nearby and so many of the attractions of NYC quite close and easy to get to, once we had learned to use the subway. After all our walking and sightseeing around the city, the apartment was a great place to return to and relax. Wifi is supplied by the owner, the TV is large and easy to use, the kitchen is well-equipped, the bed is comfortable and the host is friendly and helpful. What more could travellers want? Michael, sorry about the lateness of this review, I thought I'd posted one already, but I don't see it here. 17 February 2012 - 06:26:18

Stayed in this lovely apt. for 4 nights with my sister and it was just right. Great space, nicely furnished, perfect location with a lovely view of the garden that owner Michael tended to carefully. If ever we had a question or need, Michael was right there to help. He provided an extensive list of places to eat along with maps and guides to various areas around the city. If there is such a thing, it might also be helpful to offer a larger subway map as well. Counter space in bathroom was limited, but it's a minor issue. Wifi and TV worked beautifully. If you're there in winter, the pipes can rattle a bit for heat, but otherwise it is super quiet. It was fun to meet the dogs - they were very well behaved our entire visit. Make sure you walk along the Highline which is one block away; Whole Foods is just around the corner, too. We will stay here again! 09 April 2012 - 20:38:16

A surprising escape from the busy streets, this townhouse overlooks a quiet courtyard. The apartment is well appointed and comfortable. The host is very helpful and welcoming. Most things are within walking distance. We would certainly choose to stay here again. 10 May 2012 - 21:54:23

My girlfriend and I took our first trip to NYC in Dec and it was outstanding! This studio apartment is exactly as represented and was perfect for us - quiet, convenient and safe. It's well equipped, updated and very clean. I loved that we could overlook the garden not a brick wall! Michael (owner) was very helpful answering questions and providing plenty of great recommendations. Several very good restaurants around the corner. Go to Chelsea Market for an incredible selection of food (enjoyed eating in on occassion) Subway is an easy 2 blocks away. And if you like gardens DON"T miss the High LIne - even in December it was beautiful! 03 July 2012 - 19:35:58

We had a good experience. Clean, tidy, nice linens, kitchen stocked with coffee, filtered water, it was so comfortable for us. Great part-location close to HighLine Park, great food, and can get anywhere by foot, cab or subway. Only 1 flight of stairs to walk up to the apartment. Nice neighbors and a washer/drier if you need it. Things to note-in NYC you cannot smoke inside many places, so people smoke outside. We had smoke in our room nightly as people smoked cigarettes out the back door of the apartment complex in the garden and it came in despite closed windows. If you are sensitive it might bother you. Also there are dogs in the building that bark- even in the wee morning....bring earplugs! This is all worth it , I would stay again! 23 November 2012 - 04:17:05

The studio was very well equipped and comfortable for my husband and I. The location is really great with the Highline a block away for walking and many wonderful restaurants and galleries nearby. A bonus was the NYC Rec Center next door, which has an annual senior membership for $25 that allows you to use that facility and any other in the city for a year. It was noisy during the day (yes, I know, it's NYC), because the building next door is under a complete renovation. We would rent here again once the construction is finished. 07 October 2013 - 13:33:03
  13. We travel to NYC several times a year and stayed with Michael last March. He is super easy to communicate to, booking was incredibly simply, arrival was streamlined and the place was clean and convenient. Michael was very helpful with everything--from using laundry to finding great Chinese around the corner. He is perfect owner/manager/social coordinator. Bed was comfortable, view of back yard was divine and gave an easy place to relax from hustle of city, all the expected conveniences of staying in a place were there (good dishes, stove, et) and great coffee already in place (Intelligencia!). Metro right around corner and warehouse galleries literally a block away. Love this place--and this man! One of the best stays yet! 14 May 2015 - 18:47:20

Quiet, clean, well-stocked, secure and comfortable - we loved it. Proximity to galleries, restaurants, High Line, subway and City Bike was excellent. Can't wait to return. 23 October 2017 - 22:43:00

This was our second time staying with Michael. I love the location, you feel like you live in a neighborhood in NYC. The subway is just a few blocks up the street. We felt safe and we come from South Dakota. Great area by High-line and restaurants. The kitchenette had everything we needed with a grocery store around the corner. Michael helped in letting us know what was in the area and was easy to deal with when our luggage was lost and flight delayed till late. Can't wait to come back. 29 January 2016 - 21:23:10

My husband and I loved our stay in Chelsea. Michael was the perfect host, generous with his knowledge of the local area and there to point us in the right direction. The apartment was the perfect retreat for us - very clean and tidy, excellent location, everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We would definitely recommend this place to others. 26 September 2017 - 01:26:00

Weve stayed at this property two years in a row now and love the place and the owners! It is close to great eateries, cute shops, groceries and the Highland! The apartments are well furnished and maintained. If stairs are a problem you may have to stay elsewhere since all the rentals are upstairs! 26 November 2017 - 05:38:00

Excellent property with view of interior block of renovated homes with yards and trees in NYCity! Note that there are stairs to upper floor units. Convenient to subway and High Line. Would stay again. 18 December 2017 - 07:01:00
  20. This apartment is a gem exactly as described, it was spotlessly clean had all you would need, great view of the garden at the back. After a long day of sight seeing coming back to this warm cosy apartment was a treat. It's close to lots of restaurants and bars it's in a great location only a 15 minute walk to the Empire State Building and Macy's and so much more. we phoned Michael the owner when we were in the taxi from the airport, he met us at the door, showed us round the apartment and could not be more accommodating, we met his lovely wife Katherine who had put a handy guide together for visitors which was very usefull. We also met ziggy the dog who was a really softy. We would very highly recommend this apartment, we will be back. 26 December 2017 - 18:23:00
