About listing

This charming historic mews house was bought as our own home and therefore doesn't look or feel like a rental home at all . It is furnished with our own antique furniture , fine art and high quality furniture . We are now renting it because we have moved to the country but we still stay there when we are in london and it is not rented . The house offers the best experience of staying in a prime London location . It is located in Belgravia ( close to the house Margaret Thatcher lived and the Sultan of Brunei ! ) and is excellently positioned for access to all of London's attractions . Two subway stations are within 5 minutes walk , Harrods is 10 minutes away on foot , Buckingham Palace is less and on a summers evening the theatre district is only a 25 minute stroll for those who want to take in the atmosphere or a 10 minute cab ride . All the major museums and other attractions such as the houses of Parliament , the London Eye and many others including some of the world's most famous shopping are within easy reach . Imagine walking up to the Palace to see the famous changing of the guard and then being able to stroll back to the peace and quiet of your own house . The house itself is a quiet oasis in the middle of the city . Set in a cobbled mews there is no through traffic and sometimes it is hard to believe that you are so central . The house comes fully equipped with a new kitchen including all the obvious facilities , there is cable TV , a Bang and Olufsen stereo system and a computer available although you are welcome to bring your own and connect to the Wi-Fi throughout the house . In addition , all phone calls both local and international are included in the rental ( provided the calls are kept below 59 minutes long ) so you can keep in touch with family and friends back home while you are away . There are 2 large bedrooms both with modern en-suite bathrooms . The master bedroom has a beautiful four-poster queen sized bed in keeping with the traditional feel of the whole house . The second bedroom is configured with two single beds. In addition there is a surprisingly comfortable fold-away single bed in the study which can be used if required . Belgravia , and London generally , is home to some excellent local restaurants and there are all the usual everyday shops (Grocery stores , pharmacies etc) all available within a very short walk and the cafes and bakeries on the next door Elizabeth street are charming and an excellent way to while away a morning in the sun ( hopefully ! ) and take in all the local atmosphere of one of the world's great cities . So come and enjoy a stay in what can only be described as 'The Best of British' . What a great flat! It's ideally situated - we walked easily (with our two teenaged children) to Buckingham Palace and Harrods. It's roughly a five minute walk to the Victoria tube and train station. The kitchen is very handy and the drawing/sitting room is very comfortable with loads of space. The bedrooms are quite roomy and the beds very comfortable. The location can't be beat. There are many great restaurants in the neighbourhood - we enjoyed great pub food, Italian and I even got a wet shave at Giuseppe's around the corner. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again! 10 August 2013 - 16:32:14

We really enjoyed our stay in London and at this property. Very easy to launch from and lovely to come home to this fantastic neighborhood and this comfortable house. The added feature of having the owners driver pick us up from the airport was very appreciated and added to the whole experience. 27 August 2017 - 14:15:00

This property is a home away from home, located in one of the best possible areas to enjoy all that London has to offer. The facilities are very good, the rooms are well proportioned and comfortable. The local shops and restaurants in all directions are excellent, we would definitely stay here again. 03 June 2012 - 04:38:48

Our family stayed here over Christmas, we were very pleased with this house. It was extremely quite and in a great location. The rental price was very reasonable for the size of the house. Owners are very nice to deal with. I would stay here again. 09 January 2013 - 14:05:18

We loved your home and all the special touches. We had not been to London since our engagement in 1989. It was a wonderful trip. We love the area of Belgravia in London and plan to come back very soon. We spent sometime last July 2012 in your home and were so very thankful for your hospitality. It was clean and lovely. Very private. 17 February 2013 - 20:52:02

This property was fantastic. Location is close to Victoria Station for the tube, buses and trains. The owner had a nice greeting basket of goodies waiting for us when we arrived. They also provided a driver to pick us up at the airport for no additional charge which made our first visit to London begin without a hitch. There were 2 couples(4 people) in our group so the keypad entry made it easy for us to split up yet have access to the house. Great area with many restaurants. You must be able to climb stairs since the property is actually 4 levels with the bedrooms on the third level. 19 September 2013 - 19:42:08

We (2 adults, 2 young toddlers) rented this mews for 5 nights. We've never met the owner but she was always nice over email. The good stuff: the location of this flat is central/perfect. My husband had studied in London nearby and he wanted to stay near where he used to hang out, and so we picked this place. The flat is very spacious, plenty of space for our family. There are lots of stairs so make sure this is something you wouldn't mind (OK with us). Loads of restaurants nearby. Beds were comfortable (though I think the owner should replace some of the sheets as they were stained -- I'm guessing (hoping) they were washed before our arrival but there were still yellowish/brownish stains on them, which I tried to just ignore). The kitchen was a good size and we used it on most days for breakfast. We ate lunch and dinner out every day. THE BAD STUFF: When we got to the mews, we noticed that there was construction about 2 feet right outside our door -- there was a big hole there. Not a good first impression. The noise was unpleasant but we found out that the work on this was going to be done by end of our 2nd day so we just made the best of the situation. However, on our first full day there, we got another surprise... we were woken up by ANOTHER very loud construction noise. It turned out the mews one mews away was doing a major construction project. It started at about 8am and lasted all day until the early evening and we had to deal with this every day. It woke our kids up in the morning -even my 6 years old complained about the noise. Although we would have liked to get fresh air at times, we avoided opening the windows or the door to the balcony because the noise was continuous and just too loud. This also impede on our ability to use the nice outdoor space on the roof (we had hoped to use it often and when we tried, we had to abort because of the loud vibrating construction noise -- and also there were A LOT of wasps). We did contact the owner about the noise and she told us that it was unfortunate but things like this happens in London regularly and that someone is always renovating! I think the owner should have disclosed this very relevant piece of info (construction noise) to us, especially when a great feature of the flat was the roof space. Had we known, we would not have rented this place - who wants to go on vacation and be almost next door to a construction zone? I would give this place 5 stars but for the construction. 09 October 2013 - 06:19:57

I had the pleasure of staying at this home with my 7 year old son and 78 year old mother. It was absolutely wonderful. The location is beyond compare, we could walk to everything and felt completely safe. We were picked up at Heathrow by the owner's driver and shown around the neighbourhood before he took us to the mews. It felt like we were entering our own home. The owners had left a lovely selection of food for us as well as beautiful fresh flowers. The beds were amazing...most comfortable I've ever slept in and the bathrooms were state of the art, as was the wonderful ground floor kitchen. The owners could not have been more gracious. I would definitely recommend this as an amazing place to stay in the heart of the best part of London. 10 October 2013 - 17:45:40

My friend and I rented this house to go and visit our children who are staying in London. The house is in a great location and is a quick walk to Victoria station or sloane square tube. We preferred the walk to Sloan square as it was charming and that station is much smaller. The driver ,Ted , who picked us up at the airport was charming. He drove us around the area before he dropped us off and was so kind and even showed me the house in Kensington where my daughter was staying while was studying abroad. The house was lovely and well taken care of. The bedrooms were comfortable, new bathrooms, roof top deck was great for morning yoga and coffee and the living room was comfortable and cozy. The house is on four levels so lots of stairs but that just added to the charm. The owners were very thoughtful and responded when we had a problem turning on the hot water. The location is great and we could walk to so many places . Restaurants, coffee shops and the market are all very close and we felt like real Londoners during our stay as we were in a great residential neighborhood. The only word of caution is on our second to last day construction began on the house next door. This did not bother us as we were up and out early. However, if you like to sleep in or have young children that nap I would inquire about the status of this construction project. We had a wonderful trip and would rent this home again without hesitation! 02 November 2013 - 12:29:14

We are frequent users of VRBO and this was clearly one of our all-time favorites. The location is superb making most of London's sites available by foot. The two bedrooms, both with newly updated ensuite baths, make traveling with another couple or family very comfortable. The home itself is charming and comes equipped with everything you need. You get a real sense that you are staying in someone's home not just a rental and I cannot say enough about our hosts. There were so many small touches that added to the magic of the place. Window boxes and planters were filled with spring flowers. Easter candy and snacks were strategically placed and the refrigerator was stocked with a few essentials. After a long flight I particularly enjoyed my very British gin and tonic. The roof-top patio would be wonderful in the summer; and while we had sunny Spring weather, the temperatures really didn't allow us to make full use of its potential. Guess we'll just have to go back....and we will! 21 April 2014 - 19:23:44

What a wonderful extra to have Ted meet us at the airport with such enthusiasm and knowledge. When we arrived at the house we were also welcomed with a very nice basket of snacks, fresh flowers, milk, coffee, tea and other basics. The house was very comfortable, beautifully decorated, perfectly appointed kitchen, and located in a very quiet neighborhood filled with lots of green spaces and good restaurants. We even managed to use the roof outdoor space on a couple of sunny afternoons in London! The only problem we had was with a brand new shower which the owner did everything humanly possible to address. The one drawback was having to do a bank transfer to pay for the rental (from the USA). This was time consuming (2 trips to the bank for deposit and balance), expensive, and a challenge to coordinate the correct exchange rate. While we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mews, as a personal preference, I will not rent property in the future that does not take a credit card, check, or PayPal. 02 June 2014 - 15:38:51

frequent user of VRBO and I have to say this is one of my favorite places I have stayed. the owners were great on meeting us and arranging transportation from airport. great location. this was a trip that I brought my daughter and her boyfriend for their college graduation. he has never been out of states and I think this rental spoiled him. I would stay here again and highly recommend this rental to anyone thinking of traveling to London. thanks again for making this a great vacation. 03 June 2014 - 01:52:59
  14. Three ladies on a girls' trip enjoyed this perfect central Mews House for a week. We could not have asked for a better location, well appointed and charming house. A quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance of so much - local restaurants and shops, Victoria tube, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park Corner and so much more. We truly felt like locals for 7 days! Ted the owner's driver picked us up from the airport and transported us to the house, what a wonderful service after a long transatlantic flight. Ted was full of useful and interesting information and gave us a tour of the neighborhood so we could get our bearings ahead of time. The house has everything one would need away from home, with both en-suite bathrooms having been very recently remodeled to a high standard. There was indeed construction at the house next door, but as we were out all day it did not bother us at all, but if one had young children this may be something to consider. Would most definitely recommend this lovely Belgravia property and we hope to return! 22 September 2014 - 23:12:39

We are a married couple who have visited London on multiple occasions. We decided to try renting a home instead of a hotel room this time. We were not disappointed. Property is close to Victoria underground station, Sloane Square and South Kensington shopping and a walkable 35 minutes to the West-End if you are catching a play or musical. Wed recommend this place. 03 January 2018 - 13:54:00
