Wonderful location. Beautiful historical bottom suite, set up for a perfect comfortable stay. Cherie & Peter are terrific hosts. I had the pleasure of staying with my sister-in-law earlier in the year. I returned to share my experience with my husband.I loved my time as a tourist and hope to stay here again in the future. Highly recommended. 31 August 2013 - 20:44:07

My husband and I were thrilled with our stay at La Maison Dumas in Old Montreal. It was all we had hoped for, and more! We were interested in the history of Old Montreal, and discovered it not only on the streets we walked and the buildings we toured, but we found this charming home a perfect compliment to meet our interests as well. Our hosts, Cheri and Peter, have masterfully decorated this lovely historical home, and we found many unexpected but very appreciated treats inside! We would highly recommend staying at La Maison Dumas to anyone who wants to visit this charming part of Canada! 04 September 2013 - 18:27:51

My husband and I visited Montreal last week to practice our French in preparation for a trip to Europe. La Maison Dumas was the perfect choice. The apartment is just beautiful and the hosts are friendly and gracious. We already have plans to book the apartment another one or two times in the next 8 months... we will definitely be repeat customers. Also, contrary to what one of the other comments indicates, the apartment is not in the basement of the house. It is on what used to be the ground floor when it was a cooper's workshop in the 1700s or 1800s (I can't remember what Cherie told me about the age of the home). It is not at 2013 ground-level, but neither is it in the basement. It does not feel dark or claustrophobic in any way. In fact, it was the most enjoyable part of our stay in Montreal and we had a really great time in Montreal!! It was nice to come back to a place that felt like the lap of luxury after a long, exhausting day of sightseeing. 16 September 2013 - 02:40:03

We had a great time staying in this lovely apartment. Everything is excellent quality and the owners have anticipated most of your needs with the furnishing and amenities. Cherie was helpful in finding a small grocery store, wine store, metro stops and places of interest. We highly recommend it. 27 January 2014 - 17:47:19

If you are looking for a romantic vacation rental, this is it! I highly recommend staying here as it is decorated beautifully and is very comfortable. This area of Montreal is very historic, with wonderful restaurants. The location is close to many points of interest and short walk to subway. The owners were very accommodating and welcomed us upon arrival. You will not be disappointed! 09 February 2014 - 23:26:06

What a pleasurable place to stay. It has all the comforts from home and then some. It has been professionally decorated and is quite impressive. It is within walking distance of many great restaurants in the old section and only three to four blocks from the subway. Did not use our car at all during our stay. It is in a quiet section so you will enjoy a good night's sleep. The bedding and towels are of great quality and very comfortable. Cherie is very welcoming and will answer any questions that you have. We will certainly recommend this place to any of our friends visiting Montreal. 04 June 2014 - 17:23:42

I love this Apartment. The location is amazing... cobblestone streets and in the heart of Old Montreal. The Apartment is charming, and impeccably furnished and decorated. The owner was so kind and welcoming. And the Espresso Machine got a good workout! I guess the best review I can say is: I want to return ASAP. 31 October 2014 - 21:04:14

This apartment is beautiful, spacious and even though it is the basement of an historic building, the street windows are high enough to provide enough light. The furnishings are tasteful and comfortable..the bed mattress is exquisite (almost as good as at the Queen Elizabeth - and they are THE best). The owner is helpful in providing local information (shopping, SAQ locations, Metro). Our only concerns were: We were looking forward to some quiet nights in front of the fire but the gas pilot was out/notworking and the owner never fixed this even after we mentioned it the first day. Also the radiant heater in the living room didn't work even after having it reset. Since my partner has issues with the cold, this made the room uncomfortable for her to sit in. Lastly, this may seem minor but, one of the reasons we rent through VRBO is to be able to prepare our own meals as we enjoy cooking and experiencing short-term living in different cities. Though the kitchen was fairly well equipped, the knives were completely dull. A resharpening would be in order. These issues probably wouldn't bother most people staying here and they only had an impact on certain aspects of our stay. Overall, the experience of staying in this apartment was positive. 02 January 2015 - 18:31:22

My previous review mentioned that the knives in the kitchen were not sharp enough. Cherie read my comment and immediately had the knives sharpened....what service! Thank you Cherie. 09 January 2015 - 02:14:36

Not really knowing much about Montreal, we couldn't have been luckier with our choice of La Maison Dumas. The location is absolutely perfect - just on the edge of the main Rue St Paul tourist life, but near enough to take advantage of it. The apartment is fantastically well furnished and really comfortable. It's been a privilege to stay in such an historic and beautiful home. La Maison Dumas turned out to be a tremendous choice and made our visit to Montreal really special. 29 August 2016 - 00:07:59

We couldn't have picked a more perfect place to spend our girls getaway!!! Very clean and comfortable. Decorated beautifully!!! The house is an amazing historical home. Even cuter in person than what you see in the photos. Absolutely the BEST location!!! Cherie is such a doll and so helpful on things to do and places to eat. Loved the restaurant Les Filles Du Roy just around the corner. Close to everything you would want to do in Old Montreal and not far from downtown. Would definitely recommend that if you are in the area you have to stay there!!! 29 August 2016 - 17:05:12

We stayed 7 nights. Can't beat the location on St. Paul street which is just around the corner (and a bit) from a super pastry shop (Bar a Beurre) which we used each morning for croissants and you can get very nice bread as well. Further down St. Paul we found loads of places to eat and people watch not to mention historical buildings, the nice walking area along the water front et al. Public transportation was very close and easy to use. The property lived up 100% to expectations and previous reviews. Not one problem or defect. Absolutely peaceful at night as well. Had a wonderful time and highly recommend to others. Host and her friend were ever so friendly on arrival and provided useful info. 10 August 2016 - 16:37:42

My wife and I stayed at this outstanding apartment for three nights in mid October. The location in old Montreal could not have been better and the hospitality of Cherie could not have been kinder . Staying in Maison Dumas was like taking a trip back into time. The apartment is exquisitely furnished and extremely comfortable. Would definitely stay here on our next visit to Montreal! 26 October 2016 - 00:54:44

Could not have been in a better place in Montreal! Beautifully appointed, luxury apartment right in the middle of everywhere we wanted to be. Charming host, Cherie, who helped us with whatever we needed. If we are lucky enough to come back to Montreal, we would stay here again! 26 November 2017 - 16:26:00

My wife and I absolutely loved our time staying at Chateau Dumas. The location, at the quieter end of Rue St. Paul East, was perfect for exploring the old town and port. We walked to great restaurants each evening. The apartment is spacious and is tastefully decorated in keeping with the beautifully resorted historic building. Cherie is a gracious host who helped make our stay very comfortable. We defiinitely hope to return for another stay. 16 December 2017 - 00:14:00

The only problem with this beautiful apartment is that you just want to stay there and not go out and explore old Montreal. Tastefully decorated and well appointed with all our needs. Its truly a must if you are in the area. Cherie is very accommodating and helpful. The only downfall was that the fireplace wasn't working which she was aware of but couldn't get anyone in to repair it until after we left. Perhaps it was a good thing as we may not have explored the area at all if that lovely fire was burning on that snowy day. We I'll definitely return if our travels find us back in Montreal. 13 November 2017 - 17:09:00

Great location for wandering around Old Montreal. Lots of great restaurants and bars in the area. The apartment was very comfortable and well equipped. Perfect spot for a romantic getaway. Our host was charming and provided us with terrific suggestions for eating and shopping. I would heartily recommend this place and would return again. 20 December 2017 - 22:10:00

We flew into Montreal late at night in a snowstorm, and our flight was extremely delayed, but Cherie waited up for us to give us a warm welcome and show us around the apartment (she lives just upstairs). With stone exterior walls and exposed beams, the apartment exudes the historic charm of Old Montreal; at the same time it is beautifully decorated, supremely comfortable, and immaculate. Location can't be beat on the quiet east end of Old Montreal, with lots of great restaurants in the neighborhood. Montreal is a very manageable sized city, so anywhere in the city is easy enough to access from here (downtown is just a fifteen minute walk away). Why would you want to stay anywhere else? We will definitely be back! 21 January 2018 - 22:14:00
