My husband and I always enjoy staying in this studio apartment. Steve and Linda are extremely accommodating, whether one needs directions, show reviews, or simply a cooking utensil. The location is perfect for Central Park relaxation or exercise; easy access to subway; superb farmers market just a few blocks away; and in general just a great neighborhood. We look forward to our visit again next year. 11 October 2014 - 17:04:42

This apartment is in a wonderful neighborhood and is very conveniently located on the first floor of the building. The neighborhood is very safe and there are so many really good restaurants and shops within close walking distance. The subway stop, the Museum of Natural History and Central Park are just a block away. The apartment has a well stocked kitchen for travelers who prefer to cook their own meals. The Murphy bed was comfortable and the apartment is very quiet. I was not disturbed by street noise. I would definitely stay again on my next trip to NY. Thanks Linda, for the great accommodations. 22 January 2015 - 17:36:37

We stayed in this delightful studio suite in Upper West Manhattan just steps from Central Park and only a block from the Subway station at the Museum of Natural History. It was a great location that allowed us easy access to all of New York City. Steve and Linda were more than accommodating to our needs and always available to help when we had questions. The studio is extemely well-equipped from snacks and coffee to umbrellas and toilletries. Like in many older brick buildings, the wifi was spotty but there were lots of nearby places with free wifi. The location couldn't be better. We had so many different restaurants to chose from that we ate all our dinners in the neighborhood. The Wine Shop on the corner and nearby grocery stores were a bonus. This will definitely be our "go-to" place in NYC. Thanks Linda and Steve 15 April 2015 - 13:18:24

A great location 1/2 block from Central Park, 2 blocks from the subway, and literally steps from all the restaurants you could want. Linda met us upon arrival and was very accommodating, even going out of her way to help us get back some clothes we left by accident after we left. A perfect place if you want to experience Upper West Side living. 27 April 2015 - 12:18:19

This was our first trip to NYC and we were very happy with Linda & Steve's apartment. The Upper West Side is a great location and we were so close to Central Park, the Metro and many restaurants. We did not meet Linda (as she was out of town) but Steve was very friendly and helpful. The kitchen was well stocked and there was plenty of spare linen. The bed was comfortable and as there was only two of us, and we were out most of the time, we just kept it down. A great place to come back to after a big day of site seeing and was also very quiet! 04 June 2015 - 12:12:49

Ideally located studio close to everything. Steve was very gracious and made excellent suggestions for places to eat. We were expecting, because the studio was at street level, to have lots of noise at night. The reality was total quiet all night which was a real plus. We had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves seeing the sites, going to shows and attending concerts. My only complaint was the poor performance of the WiFi. 17 June 2015 - 11:55:02

We absolutely loved our stay at Linda and Steves apartment on the Upper West Side. We came to the city on a sisters trip, and hadnt been to New York before. Linda was wonderful about welcoming us and helping us settle in, answering any questions we had. The location here cant be beat two blocks away from the subway station at the Museum of Natural History, a few blocks from Central Park and so many restaurants nearby that I cant name them all! Ill admit, I was a bit worried about the pull-down bed, but it was super comfortable and we had no issues with it. There was hardly any road noise, and the blinds did a pretty good job of blocking out the light. The shower had great pressure and stayed a consistent temp. There was a large selection of toiletries for us to use, umbrellas and rain coats in the closet, and every dish/pot/pan/glass you could need in the cupboards. It was hot and humid the entire time we were in the city, but the air conditioner kept our apartment perfectly cool the entire time (which was wonderful to come home to after a long day trekking the city!). Well definitely stay here again when we return to the city, no question about it! 22 June 2015 - 12:59:10

I highly recommend staying in this quaint, homey apartment. I visit every year and try new places. This was one of the better of them. Linda and Steve are great!! Book this on your next trip! 26 June 2015 - 17:53:33

This place was awesome and quaint. The UWS is my favorite part of town. It is residential, with plenty to do, and quiet compared to most of the City. Stayed here with a girl friend. The murphy bed is very comfy and fine for 2 people (no rolling to the center). Bedding, towels and robes were nice. Location is very good for the park, eating and shopping along Columbus and Amsterdam and a five minute walk to the subway. Linda could not have been more helpful, offering use of her laptop for Ethernet connection, info on local restaurants and services, directions and even coupons. She even had cold drinks in the fridge, snacks and packing tape for me to use. Check in and out was flexible and convenient. Everything worked and was clean and quiet. I can't wait to go back! Thanks, Linda.....sorry it took me so long to post this review...I hope you are well. 15 July 2015 - 23:25:27

This is a great little apartment in a well maintained brownstone. Linda and Steve were wonderful about everything. From the kitchen being stocked with essentials, to hassle free check-in and out, they were available if needed. The hotel style bathrobes were a nice touch. Murphy bed was actually comfortable! Even with it left open there was plenty of room for our weeks stay. It is a lovely, quiet block with friendly people all around including those living in the building. Great location, great hosts, great apartment. 04 September 2015 - 18:26:54

Great location and super quiet and comfy. Linda met us upon arrival and everything was super clean, quiet and taken care of. We loved the location and the neighborhood with all the wonderful restaurants. We enjoyed the park and the Sunday street fair. We took Uber to the Broadway shows and clubs and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.We have stayed many times in NYC and this is by far one of the nicest, quietest and cleanest apartments we have been in. We can't wait to return. Thank you Linda for such a gem. 25 September 2015 - 19:35:44

Location is everything, and you won't find one any better than this for seeing the sights of NYC! The apartment is beautiful, the Murphy bed so comfortable and the shower is great!! Linda and Steve are awesome hosts, so friendly and helpful. The apartment is close to parks, museums, restaurants, bars and any other services you may need. If you are coming to NYC this is the perfect place to stay. We would definitely come back!! :-) M&T 27 September 2015 - 17:49:41

I really enjoyed my experience here. The apartment is small but comfy, and it has everything you'll need. Linda and Steve are very friendly and keep the place well-supplied. The Murphy bed is surprisingly comfortable - I slept very well on it. And the neighbors in the building were all very nice as well. With just a few minutes of walking you can get to Central Park, the Natural History Museum, subway stations, restaurants, and shops. The wi-fi is a little spotty, but you're visiting NYC, so the last thing you should be doing is spending your time surfing the web - get out and experience the city! If you're travelling solo or as a couple, this is a great spot. 08 November 2015 - 17:24:25

Linda and Steve's studio apt was perfect for us. The location couldn't be better and we had everything we needed. With the park just 1/2 a block away, the subway close by, and lots of good restaurants right around the corner, we quickly felt right at home. We'll certainly call Linda before we're next in NY. 18 April 2014 - 17:31:08

Linda has thought of everything to make her guests comfortable. She even loaned us knee and ice wraps -- and a neighbor's cane - when my husband arrived limping after injuring his knee during our journey from DC. The studio is very comfortably furnished and stocked with everything you could possibly need. Our welcome included a bottle of Prosseco, snacks and birthday desserts from the fabulous neighborhood deli. Central Park is half a block away from this little gem. Fabulous location and neighborhood. We'll be back! Thanks, Linda! 12 November 2017 - 18:27:00

*Long review warning: I just have a lot to share! :)* This was our second time staying here, and it was just as (if not more) lovely as the first. I was visiting town with my sister, to celebrate my (gasp!) 30th birthday. When we arrived, there was a bottle of champagne and two Magnolia cupcakes waiting for us. So above and beyond! Linda was out of town, so Steve met us and got us settled in. Even though the building is 100+ years old, it always feels so clean. You can tell they take pride in their building! It's stocked with everything you could possibly need - rain coats, umbrellas, maps and restaurant binders, movies, toiletries...I could go on and on. And the bed -it's a pull-down but it's miraculously comfortable! It was in the high 80's all week, but the AC kept us cool when we needed to recharge at the apartment. One thing that stands out for me is the location. The UWS is notoriously adorable with its brownstones, tree-lined streets and amazing restaurants. I never once felt unsafe. You're a block away from Central Park and the subway. We even walked to Times Square (about 20 min walk, which is preferable to the subway to me.) I almost didn't want to give this review because I want this place to be my little secret, but if you want to have a true NYC experience with the safety and charm of the upper west side, stay here. You won't regret it! I know I'll be back. 28 September 2017 - 02:09:00

I love NYC and the Upper West Side in particular, this apartment literally couldn't be in a more perfect location on West 83rd Street steps away from Central Park, restaurants, and subways. The apartment is not particularly large (you're in Manhattan, !), but served me fine on a trip with my son. Given that the apartment faces the street, it was still quite quiet and peaceful. The hosts were kind enough to stock the fridge with coffee, snacks, and bottled water. Years ago, I lived literally next door to this apartment, which shares a wall and fireplace with my old home. It was wonderful nostalgia to return to my old stomping grounds. Linda provides a Fodors restaurant review book (crucial for any NYC dining experiences), as well as as a stuffed binder of menus from nearby restaurants, many of which deliver if you're so inclined. The only reason I wouldn't give this five stars is that we were unable to get any wifi access during our stay, and had to rely on data plans on our devices. Linda does provide a free laptop to use if you need to hardwire to internet, but for technical reasons I was unable to use that for work VPN issues and had to go to nearby Starbucks. All in all, this is a lovely apartment in a wonderful neighborhood with a fabulous host. The next time I'm in NYC I would love to stay here again if I know I won't have emergency work commitments that require reliable wifi access. 27 March 2016 - 06:16:00

This was our second - but definitely not our last - stay in this ideally located studio apartment. The Upper West Side neighborhood has so much to offer - restaurants, full-service grocery stores, small bodegas - not to mention the museums, subway options, Riverside and Central parks. Linda provides guests with all the basics to get you started -coffee, tea, milk, wine, cookies and more. We prepared our Thanksgiving dinner easily in the well-appointed kitchen. We added a menu to her book of restaurants and local shops and highly recommend Francesca's La Vela Cucina Italiana on Amsterdam, between 77-78th. Great food and superb hosts - just like Linda and Steve. We'll be back to visit them all! 26 December 2017 - 15:01:00
