About listing

Located in the centre of old town Haarlem and within walking distance to everything this lovely city has to offer, is this quaint 150-200 year-old townhouse that is fully-equipped with modern conveniences to allow you to appreciate it's old-style charm in comfort. The entire house is available to you when you select this property and it can accommodate up to 4 people. Downstairs is a modern and stylish dining and kitchen area, with French doors that open out onto a private garden courtyard, complete with a BBQ and 2 bicycles for guests to use during their stay. Guests can also relax in the lounge area and there is an electrical fireplace which adds a charming ambiance to the room. Upstairs, there is a modern bathroom, european laundry and a spacious light-filled loft bedroom with an adjacent sitting area which can be converted into a comfortable second bedroom. You can also make use of all the amenities provided, including 2 bicycles, central heating, high-speed WiFi, stereo system, fully-equipped modern kitchen, dishwasher, microwave/oven, coffee-makers, alarm clock, washing machine, clothes dryer and BBQ! We also provide all towels and linen. We also have a baby-bed for hire at 15 euros per stay. Haarlem is a beautiful cobble-stoned city, 15 minutes by train from the centre of Amsterdam (with trains leaving every 10-15 minutes) and with a direct connection to Schiphol airport. The popular beach village of Zandvoort is also only 15 minutes by train from the city centre and Haarlem is very central for day trips throughout the Netherlands with excellent road and train systems and extensive bicycle routes. Haarlem is the provincial capital of North Holland, located on the banks of the Spaarne river and is a relaxed city, full of picturesque canals, a maze of narrow medieval streets, hidden gardens, quality restaurants and many of the best dutch museums. The city is also a historical beer brewing centre has a lively culture and active nightlife. A one minute walk from the house will lead you to ‘Kleine Houtstraat', a pretty boutique shopping street voted to be the best in The Netherlands many times. Haarlem is perfect for a romantic getaway as well as partygoers and makes an excellent base for visitors to Amsterdam and other surrounding areas, as well as being a great destination in itself, with everything you could want at your doorstep. Nature is just a short bike ride away and the dunes surrounding the beach village of Zandvoort are very picturesque. Getting Around: Buses and trains are just a short walk from the house. The neighbourhood is quiet and Haarlem is a safe city to walk at night time. We also provide 2 bicycles for guest's use and there are more available to hire within the city, however the house is very central and accessible to the city by foot. Paid parking is available in the carpark directly next door. Free parking is also available within a quick 5 minute walk. The train station is located on the other side of the city centre and is a 10-15 minute walk or quick bus ride. We are travelers ourselves and we know how difficult communication can be in a foreign country and that transport delays can occur. For this reason, we have a locked keybox check-in system that will allow you to arrive at a time that suits you (within our advised times), without needing to stay in contact with your arrival time. We are readily available to answer any questions you may have and have included a neighbourhood guide of recommendations in the local area both in the house and in the Hospitality section of this website. You can also find answers to many questions you may have provided in a guidebook inside the house and on our page on Facey /CharmingHouseHaarlem Other Things to Note: Please ensure you book for the correct amount of guests when booking, as we have additional charges for more than 2 guests, including children. We have additional costs and cleaning times and taxes, so we appreciate your honesty and fairness. We also have a baby-bed for hire at 20 euros per stay. Sorry, we cannot accept any pets. ***Please be aware if booking with children or elderly people, that we have very steep traditional dutch stairs that may prove a mobility issue. Please see the photographs as a reference before booking. However, we have had many senior guests and children that haven't found this to be an issue and embrace them as part of the charm of living like the dutch. :)***

We really enjoyed our stay in this charming apartment. Stairs are steep and narrow leading to bedroom and bathroom and may prove difficult for young children or people with mobility issues. But for us, it was a perfect place to stay in this lovely city. 01 September 2016 - 15:02:00

Our family of 4 (kids 3&1) had a great one week stay. We felt right at home immediately as Bea & Rudy supplied all of our basic household needs and then some. The kids both slept well particularly our 1 year old as they provided a play pen with mattress! We look forward to renting again for out next family trip to Haarlem. Thanks for everything!! 20 November 2016 - 13:00:00

We have stayed in numerous accommodations during our lifetime of travel, The Charming House was indeed exceptional. Communication was top notch, above and beyond, what we have ever experienced. The house itself is in a perfect location, the layout and ammenities are superb. Just like home, but better! Super clean, lovely touches and incredibly comfortable. You will have no regrets! 02 May 2017 - 22:45:00

We stayed in Charming House for five weeks and used it as a base to tour other countries and the local area. Our hosts where very accommodating with any concerns we had. Charming House had everything we needed for our stay. The unit was very clean which is important to us. Everything is within walking or biking distance and close to transit. We would recommend Charming House with it's old world charm to anyone visiting Haarlem. 27 April 2017 - 18:08:00

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was a blast. They had all sorts of accommodations for us from the washing and drying machine to the dishwasher to the picturesque little backyard. Our stay was wonderful and we had no trouble with anything. Bea and Rudy were also very quick to respond to any questions that we had. If you're looking to see Amsterdam or just Haarlem, this property is perfect! 13 June 2017 - 16:09:00

This was by far the finest accommodation of our four rentals while in Europe. Everything about it was as charming as its name suggests. Bea and Rudy were excellent to deal with and have put a lot of effort into making their guests time easy and comfortable before and during their stay. Don't let the prospect of the steep stairs discourage you. We are both around 80 years old and had them mastered in no time. If your looking for the best self contained accommodation in a really nice location while in Holland this we are sure is it. 25 September 2017 - 13:25:00

Sparkling row house, in a lovely old town, easy public transportation to attractions such as the National Park in the dunes, Amsterdam. We greatly appreciated information provided by our hosts including details of red bus 300 from Schiphol Airport, even what stop to get off. The house was very well supplied, the back yard pleasant, the local grocery store wonderful. We walked all over and particularly enjoyed the Hofjes and the Windmollen Adriaan. Couldn't recommend this rental more highly. 06 October 2017 - 20:00:00

09 September 2016 - 06:00:00
