Beautiful views of the Hudson River and new Tappan Zee Bridge from almost every room of this Tarrytown, New York Victorian. Tarrytown is a historic village on the eastern bank of the Hudson River, just 35 minutes by train north of New York City. The downtown shopping district is just down the hill from our house, and is full of funky shops and restaurants, from fast-casual to fine dining to farm-to-table. We are just .8 mile from the train station, which has an express train to New York City's Grand Central Terminal. Or, take the train north to Cold Spring, Peekskill, Beacon, for an adventure in the Hudson Highlands. Enjoy the river views in this charming Victorian-era shingle style home that overlooks the Tappan Zee Bridge (and the new bridge) and the glittering Hudson River. At night, the windows twinkle with the lights from the bridge and the village, as well as Nyack across the river. Sunsets are lovely, especially from the porches, but really you have a view of the river from almost every room in the house. The gourmet kitchen is big, equipped with a large six-burner gas stove and oven, cool marble countertops for rolling out pastry or putting your guests to work, and everything you need to cook. Have some friends over and make dinner together; enjoy river views while you cook. There's an additional refrigerator in the downstairs apartment. Three bathrooms are new this year; the kitchen is brand new as well. Bedrooms are large and comfortable with Tempurpedic mattresses and, if you don't like those, Sealy soft mattresses elsewhere. The house is the perfect alternative to a New York City hotel. You can walk to everything in Tarrytown, or take a scenic, 35-minute train ride along the Hudson River to Grand Central in New York City. There's a large dining room for your Thanksgiving dinner, and plenty of room to sleep comfortably. Several porches (large and small) mean you can escape the dinner preparations and enjoy a glass of wine at sunset. A small apartment with its own separate porch overlooks the river and bridge as well. Located three blocks from the center of town, the house is wheelchair accessible from the street, with a ground-floor powder room. Plenty of restaurants, parks, bike trails and even two kayak launches riverside. There are also two lakes with walking trails less than a quarter-mile from the house. Several historic sites are within walking distance (including the Rockefeller estate, Kykuit, and Lynhurst. Washington Irving's Sunnyside is a short drive away, in Irvington) All in all, we are very walkable, relaxing, and a great place to visit! *Please note! We have two cats who will be boarded somewhere else while you stay here -- but you should know, in case you have allergies to pets. We have three bedrooms that are kept cat-free at all times, and the lower apartment level is kept cat-free.
