About listing

The converted barge is permanently moored in a park setting, west of Paris near St Germain en Laye and Versailles. The upstairs is comfortably appointed with a full size kitchen (dishwasher, fridge/freezer, stove, microwave), bathroom (shower) and two bedrooms (two single beds and one double). Downstairs there are three large rooms that are less renovated, but perfect for artistic or playroom purposes and can be used for guests in a pinch. Electricity and water provided by the city. The gas for the stove is bottled. There is a wood burning stove and electric heating. All utilities are included in the rental price. The boat is owned by the family of an American writer/painter who wrote a book about it called "Houseboat on the Seine" by William Wharton. Sisley and many other impressionists painters used this area as their inspiration. In fact the famous "Flood at Port Marly" is of the cafe that is 150 feet from the boat and is still open today, waiting to serve you a "Grand Creme". There is easy access to Paris via public transportation: either a half hour bus ride to the #1 metro line, or a 10 min. bus ride to the RER A. The neighborhood has great restaurants, bakery, cafe and a large supermarket within walking distance. A newly built pedestrian bridge (with elevator!) takes you over the the island which has walking/jogging paths and sports field. The downstairs is currently under renovation so the photos show a bit of a mess. Work will be finished by start of rental.
