The unobstructed view of the ocean and coastline make this a unique, breathtaking lodging. However, this property is not being well-mainstained by the owner. First of all, I definitely did not get my ninety dollars worth with my cleaning deposit. The floor was not swept, the table tops were dusty, the patio needed cleaning as well as the patio furniture, the venetian blinds seemed never to have been dusted, and the windows offering such spectacular views had a thick coating of dirt. The poor upkeep of the property can be seen in the badly torn doormat, the disfuctional patio fireplace, the fact that there were no fireplace tools for the indoor fireplace and there were just three pieces of firewood for my two-day stay. I would not recommend this property for your stay. 07 August 2015 - 06:15:30

What a perfect place for us to relax and unwind! The view was so amazing and the space was so comfy and private, we didn't want to leave. Unwinding with a bottle (or two) of wine watching the sunset... take us back! Thank you Steve for such a wonderful space for us to enjoy! And if you ever want to sell... ;) 31 July 2016 - 18:59:00

Everything was ok. But mostly dusty. Towels and bed sheets looked very oldie and were grey. 06 January 2017 - 07:31:00

Me and my family arrived to a beautiful view from a very filthy room. For starters the front door was so nasty it was hard to open, the sheets had hair, yellow stains and what looked like mold on the pillows. A broken front window, $7 Wal-Mart heater, broken pinball machine in corner, old burned wood in the fireplace, broken out of use outdoor fire pit, plastic wrapping on the floor, random boxes in corner, major cobwebs in Windows, filthy blinds and the list goes on. Whoever he hired to keep this place maintained and cleaned should be fired! Also I took multiple pictures of how disgusting it was so before you rent this room leave a phone number and I will text you the pictures. Don't waste your time or money until this whole place is renovated because it actually does have beautiful views and that's it. My stay was for 3/27/16 but decided I wasn't going to allow my family to stay 1 night in those conditions and went elsewhere for our enjoyment! 28 March 2016 - 04:16:47

We chose this based on the beautiful photos, along with reassurances through email from the owner that there was good cell service from the property. I told him before booking that cell service was mandatory because I needed to be reachable due to my elderly parents. Upon arriving, we tried calling the owner and immediately saw that we had no phone service. In fact, we had to walk up the hill up the street to get any bars and spotty service. In addition, the rental appeared unclean, the blinds did not open correctly, there was a broken window in the tiny bathroom that had been covered over with duct tape, there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke, which the owner denied, and the fire-pit did not work. There was no central heating, just a tiny space heater which was inadequate. The kitchen supplies were completely inadequate. This was supposed to be a birthday celebration. We felt this property was a huge waste of our money and of our precious vacation time, and we would have been better off to stay at one of the chain motels on the highway. We have stayed at many vbro properties. This was, without a doubt, the very worst! Recommend you stay anywhere else but here. 14 September 2015 - 03:31:35

This is a downstairs apartment with a patio that looks out over the ocean....because you are literally on a cliff overlooking the ocean! There is a trail just feet from the patio. My husband, teenage son, adult daughter, and I stayed in the bed and sofa bed and were really really comfortable. It's difficult to describe how inspired and restored we were by this getaway. We enjoyed many "slow" brunches and late dinners at the local restaurants, just minutes away. Great price from my research on HomeAway. 07 September 2017 - 23:03:00

I brought my family here for a much anticipated two day weekend at the beach. I had a bad feeling when I arrived and their was an office chair on the deck above this unit and a broken down car in the drive way. We opened the door to the unit and were overcome with the smell of cigarette smoke. The fire pit is a piece of junk and the BBQ is disgusting and set on the side of the home next to an old dog house. We could not stay here and Steve the owner has been dodging my calls ever since trying to avoid giving me a refund. The listing is not accurate, the property was not clean, the owner does not provide good customer service, I would never recommend this property, and their are no activities or decent restaurants even close. 21 August 2016 - 19:41:15

We stayed at this nice little studio unit during Valentine's Day weekend. It has a direct ocean view and is perfect for watching sunsets. The bed was very comfortable and the outdoor gas fire pit was a nice added bonus. We didn't have much time for exploring, but the location was close to restaurants and other points of interest. We would recommend this unit for a nice little getaway. Thank you Carol and Steve. 20 February 2015 - 20:07:41

We decided to take a last minute weekend getaway trip and came across this rental. This place is as advertised and more. Stunning sunsets, amazing views, right on the ocean cliff. Carol and Steve are very accommodating and I look forward to returning. 02 March 2015 - 21:14:24

My husband and two boys stayed here on a spring vacation. Though there wasn't a separate room to put them in (it is a studio space), we settled them in for the night and retreated to the patio for a glass of wine in front of the fire table, and enjoyed the sounds of the crashing surf. A massive upgrade from hanging out in a hotel hallway! The area is in day-trip proximity to San Francisco and Monterey, and you can even enjoy a gorgeous cliff-side walk right from the property. We also really appreciated the support of the property manager, who was easily accessible and incredibly helpful when we had questions. 21 March 2015 - 20:20:50

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in June. It was our first trip to the San Fran area and we chose this location for its beautiful ocean view and close proximity to all area attractions. The unit is Very NICE. Beautiful hardwood floors, cozy sitting area with wood burning fireplace, and nice size bath vanity area. The King Size bed is VERY COMFORTABLE, it has a soft memory foam topper for a perfect night sleep. We got to meet Steve who is the owner of the unit. we had a small issue with the shower and he came down immediately and solved the problem. We ended up visiting with him about an hour and enjoyed it greatly. Half Moon Bay is a small quaint town with a beautiful downtown village. The Main street with cafes and shopping is just a few miles from your beautiful ocean view. Several nice seafood and Italian restaurants are close by in Princeton Landing, and "The Distillery" restaurant overlooking the ocean was very delicious. I enjoyed walking along the sea side trails overlooking the ocean. The drive into San Fran is about 20 minutes north on the coast Highway. We enjoyed the city and all its offerings but really loved coming back to this condo and its beautiful ocean view. an outdoor gas fire pit was perfect for the chilly evenings. We took a day trip to Yosemite Nat Park and it was fantastic. If you are looking for the perfect place to stay in the San Francisco area and want to enjoy an Ocean view in a lavish private condo this is the rental for you. We would like to return again in the future. 13 June 2015 - 16:41:23

Very private suite and a great get away. We absolutely loved it. The serenity of the setting made the stay so enjoyable. We were out there on a 4 day stay for my wife's 40th, first 2 nights we were in San Francisco Ritz Carlton and honestly weren't sure what to expect going from there to this spot and we were so happy. It was the best part of our trip. The location is great, we did a hike and jogged around the neighborhood and went to a few of the local places and loved the proximity. We ate at the Distillery and loved that vibe. And another night decided to stay in and went and got some of Sam's Clam Chowder and Joes Boysenberry pie both close by and took them back to the place and enjoyed dinner at home. That's what it felt like, home. Bed was very comfortable coming from picky bed folks. Would stay there again in a heart beat. 17 June 2015 - 12:38:43

We were looking for a relaxing getaway and found it. We have stayed at more expensive hotels in the city but for us this was overall a far better experience. We took walks along seaside cliffs and enjoyed panoramic ocean views. We watched seals at Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. Loved waking up to sounds of the ocean in our comfy, cozy king size bed and enjoyed morning coffee outside on our patio. The place was meticulously clean and well decorated. We will definitely return to this appealing place! 09 July 2015 - 19:26:41

Amazing location with beautiful ocean views. Stopped over between longer stays in Santa Cruz and San Fran with my Husband and 9 yrs old son. After dinner at the Distillery, we returned to the beach house in time to enjoy a warm fire before going to bed. The bed is insanely comfy and the sofa bed perfect for our son. It was so nice to have breakfast on the patio while taking in the ocean breezes and panoramic view before we heading up the coast. This place is a find for a couple looking for a place to check out and enjoy a romantic getaway. 23 July 2015 - 14:57:29

Stayed there two nights with buddies on a golf trip and we were blown away by the view. On top of that, the accommodations were very clean and nicely appointed. In short, as the organizer of the trip, I felt like this place hit the nail on the head. 03 August 2015 - 20:32:19

We found this spot as an alternative to staying in the city as the rates in San Francisco were out of our budget...and were quite pleased. We checked in early evening during an incredible sunset and enjoyed a beverage on the patio. The room was very cozy with the most comfortable bed we have encountered at an hotel or inn. The property is also very private and it seemed we had the whole area to ourselves. In the mornings we walked the coastal trail just outside the property and enjoyed the panoramic views. The drive to SF is about 30 minutes and we looked forward to coming back here after sightseeing and ending each night with a lit fireplace falling asleep to the ocean. One day we decided to make the drive--a little over an hour straight down highway one--and check out Santa Cruz, Monterey and the awesome town of Carmel. Another day was spent in the area where we discovered Half Moon Bay, and the town of Princeton (about two miles) where there are several restaurants, a brew house and a place to purchase fresh seafood right out of the ocean. We very much enjoyed this unique setting/location and are planning our return. Sean, Sandy Paul 03 November 2015 - 21:23:57

The location is a great part of the coast and one that we have never explored before now. It is a great place for photos of the rocks and plants along the shore. We didn't find the path down to the beach but low tide was after dark on the days we were there. We had a great time watching whales one whole afternoon. The rental itself is much like a hotel suite with a couch, fireplace, kitchenette. It is located under a larger house at the back with a complete view of the ocean from a bluff. The upper level was vacant and there are houses on both sides but not close enough to feel crowded. The view is the reason to go here and to go back. The owner seems interested in making it better and followed up with a phone call which was appreciated. I agreed to provide a list of improvements that might make staying there better. Generally they need to pay more attention to little details that would make a place like this special. For example, there was a broken brick outside the door that someone probably used to prop the door open in the summer. Next to that was a part from the outdoor light over the door - essentially debris that someone should pick up, fix and put a proper door stop. Inside had similar issues such as a wobbly table. The view rates five stars and the room three for the average four rating I give this rental overall. We may go back and particularly if the property receives the love and care it needs to make it as special as the view. 04 December 2015 - 16:21:24
  18. We drove down from Sacramento for a Father's Day "Staycation". We loved the privacy and accompanying serenity of the winds and waves. We sat on the patio enjoying the incredible view drinking wine, whale watching (wish I would have brought binoculars), and just relaxing. The coastal trail is a great walk either in the morning or at dusk. The room was clean and perfect for a quiet, private weekend. We actually stayed in and prepared our own meals most of the time. The room doesn't have a stove;however, there was a microwave, crockpot and although not full size, a very adequate refrigerator. We did go out to eat one afternoon and if you're looking to do that the majority of the time you won't be disappointed. Many great establishments are just a short drive north or south on Hwy 1. Overall, an awesome weekend and a great oceanside cottage at a fraction of the cost! 22 June 2016 - 17:00:24

Pros: 1) No stretch: it IS an ocean fron property 2) lots of places to walk around, along the coast, and at Fitsgerald Marine Life Reserve, which is ~1/2 mile away from the house 3) quick drive from SF. 4) cozy, but ascetic 5) 20 min walk to Moss Beach Distillery, which is a great ochean view lunch and sunset meal location. Neutral: 1) this is not a full cottage, it is a ground floor in-law unit, which is fair for the price. 2) no stove, only a microvave oven. --- great place overall 01 August 2016 - 21:14:00

Several things listed in the amenities were not provided. - no coffee (very little) - no coffee filters - no firewood (two mostly spent logs) - lighter was empty - strong smell of cigarettes Not really an apartment as much as a finished basement. Could hear upstairs tenant / owner when they were there. Woke me up once at 4am. To be fair, I am a light sleeper. Positives: - was nice having a fireplace when we provided our own wood and supplies - bed is super comfy - view is fantastic 19 June 2015 - 07:43:00
