I was lucky enough to stay here for over a month and had an amazing time. The amenities of the place are incredible, the views are gorgeous and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The pool and hot tub area is really comfortable, with nice chairs, heat lamps and speakers. This place is a hidden gem. It was really amazing to be in the Bay Area while also in this amazing hideaway. It is also really close to Redwood Regional Park, which has some great trails for hikers and bikers. I would highly recommend staying here. 20 August 2014 - 17:27:41

My husband, toddler, dog and I had a wonderful stay in this little home while visiting family throughout the Piedmont and Alameda areas. It's quiet, peaceful and comfortable. Beautiful views from all the rooms. 04 January 2017 - 05:41:00

My husband and I stayed at this property for a couple weeks. It was perfect for access to the East Bay parks and hiking. Also easy to get to DT Oakland where we stayed in the past and close to Rockridge area and Montclair with lots of restaurants. Also a quick hop onto HWY 13 and thru the Caldicott tunnel to get to Orinda, Lafayette and Walnut Creek. The unit is small, but surprisingly has a lot of storage space for 2 weeks worth of clothes and personal items. The kitchen and living area was small, but had everything we needed for our visit. It was good for a week or two, but longer term visits may require more space. Sue was very accomodating..we had a problem with the toilet and she was took care of it right away. When we weren't touring, we enjoyed the pool to relax and enjoy the beautiful gardens. 27 June 2012 - 18:54:53
  4. Wifee and I moved from Florida to the Bay Area and decided to take an extended vacation to familiarize ourselves with the area before committing to a place. So, we decided to rent with Sue and Randy in this unit for about a month. It was perfect for our needs and we couldn't have been happier. Great location central to everything in Oakland as well as the "back country" if you're looking to hike, etc. The unit itself is obviously smaller but the amenities on the property were amazing and Sue and Randy went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. And if you're looking for a bigger place, they have a separate house with multiple bedrooms. The pool, hot tub and property overall were amazing with awesome views of the valley and Mt. Diablo right out your front door. Tons of fun yard games such as ping pong, foosball, corn hole, etc. with great competitors to give you a challenge. Concluding our stay, we made some new great lifelong friends which was the best part of it all. I'd absolutely stay there again, in fact, when we have friends and family in town to visit, we'll definitely send them over to rent this place. Rent it!! You won't be sorry you did!! 12 March 2015 - 23:16:15

Susan and Randy have a beautiful place. Its secluded and peaceful. They are wonderful about giving you access to the entire grounds including the great pool and waterfall. They were gracious enough to invite us to have a glass of wine by the pool/waterfall. One of my highlights of our stay. 03 August 2015 - 20:20:31

This property is amazing. I am a traveling health professional, who stayed on the property for 5 weeks. Both my dog and I had a wonderful experience. The views can't be beat, you are in a hidden oasis of wilderness that I didn't expect to find in the Oakland area. We hiked the local parks on a regular basis, many times off leash. Sue & Randy were welcoming and so helpful with tips of places to see. Their two dogs played with my dog in the front yard. My family came from MN the last week, and we all stayed in the larger guest house. The kids thought the view was to so "cool" especially on a fogged in morning. If work brings me back to Oakland, I will be staying here again. Thank you for making my Oakland experience so great. 13 April 2017 - 16:58:00

My wife and I and our dog loved this property. The in kaw quarters that we stayed in was charming and totally adequatw for a couple. But the most spectacular aspect of our stay was the setting and the grand uninterrupted views from the porch in the back. We would certainly return to the property again. 09 August 2017 - 02:44:00
  8. My wife and I just got back from staying here, and our three nights couldn't have been more relaxing and enjoyable! Sue and Randy are delightful hosts and it's obvious they enjoy having guests at their home. This one-BR unit is tucked under the owners' main house; however it's quite secluded, private and has its own entry so we had no issues with the setup. Sue was responsive to our pre-check-in questions. Finding their place was simple - it's at the end of a long driveway that winds over and down the hill more than 100 yards to a gate. Once through, we parked near the woodpile, and walked up past the main house garage to find the entry door. Check in was easy. The property, a remainder of what was originally a large ranch, is wonderfully private. You're in redwood and oak forest, and the other guest house is barely visible from the living room, screened by trees and across the parking area some distance away. The unit has a "town and country" charm - Cozy, simple but tastefully decorated and appointed. There is a comfortable king memory foam bed in the bedroom. Kitchen counter is in the LR, with the needed herbs, spices, kitchenware and cookware. Appliances are first rate brands, and although not new, they function very well. Just outside the unit is a private patio with its own table and chairs, propane grill and views across tree-covered ridges to Mt. Diablo. The common areas of the property are timeless in design and construction, perfect for casually hanging out. We ambled from pool to hot tub to chaise endlessly throughout the weekend, and enjoyed the outdoor games, hearing the beautiful wind chimes and watching the labs gleefully chasing balls. Sue and Randy were home during the weekend and we got a chance to get to know them and thank them for their hospitality. They're the best! 04 September 2017 - 23:50:00
