I don't even know where to begin~ My family spent an amazing week and this beautiful beach house. We enjoyed every minute of our comfortable stay in this wonderfully decorated and furnished home. Everything you could think of was here. The beds and bedding were all very nice and the kitchen was try well equipped. Easy access to the beautiful dog friendly beach. Our pups enjoyed this place as much as we did. The eclectic , tasteful design was so original and the house was so comfortable. We had lovely meals at the beautiful outside table and also at the big inside table. I highly recommend this perfectly situated house on a quiet culdesac a short beach walk to town. Lovely lovely lovely!! We are already booked for next summer! Thanks again ! 11 July 2013 - 22:18:31

There are really not enough nice words to explain how great it is to stay at this house!!! We have been every summer for at least the past four summers and every time we think, "Could it really be great, again?" Yes it can!!! The owners couldn't be more attentive and accommodating. The house is comfortable and well appointed. There is no scrimping on anything. Excellent quality linen, a FULLY stocked kitchen, firewood, I could go on and on. There is a spot for everyone. We have teenagers, but started coming to this house with the kids being much younger. Things to do and a space for all ages. Thanks SO much for a wonderful experience!! 07 November 2013 - 00:29:23

Toasts. It is a real plus to the property!! The outside deck and patio was perfect for our group especially with the outside fire pit. Striking, unusual, old growth tree in the yard with beautiful flowers and abundant brilliantly colored hummingbirds to match. Everything was perfect. We'll be back. Pet friendly for our oy child, a golden retriever. 25 November 2013 - 00:07:23

Lovely home with terrific amenities. Our girl's weekend was perfect. Plenty of room for everyone, the Great Room is an ideal gathering spot. Cocktails on the dune deck at sunset, watching the dogs frolic on the beach. Comfortable beds, great linen, real kitchen for cooks-all the little touches. Stinson is such a beautiful place and this is the best place to stay. We already booked again in March:) 29 November 2013 - 17:52:29

It is hard to find a vacation rental that is both functional and has character, while also being truly comfortable. This one has it all. The decor is both fun and classy. The kitchen is stocked with anything you might need. Many rental houses come with one roll of TP and paper towels, and anything else you want you'll be making trips to the grocery store. Not here. The only thing we bought at the well-stocked local market was food. Staying here feels like you are in someone's home - your comfort is their primary concern. The owners are wonderful and you can tell from touches around the house that they are genuinely concerned with you enjoying your stay. Security deposit was returned within 5 days. Access to the beach is ideal. Just far enough back to provide privacy and break the wind, but just steps to the sand. Great location close enough to walk to town, but out of the hustle and bustle of the congested section closer in. If this house is in your budget, you can't go wrong. 25 April 2014 - 23:38:41

This house is lovely, comfortable and very functional. I have rented my houses thru VRBO and this is my favorite. Everything works, coffee maker, blender, fireplace, etc. The house is well kept and clean. The views are glorious and easy access to the beach, has you making several trips with ease. I love this place and will be back with the kids many many more times. Thanks for having us!! 22 May 2014 - 22:34:08

We rented this house to share with our family and friends on my birthday - throughout the week we had many day and dinner guests, and we could not have been more pleased with this house as THE house to share with people you love. The kitchen is appointed with everything you need to cook, entertain and enjoy including a great 8-person dining table with a view of the ocean, outdoor seating for both dining and lounging, and tons of outdoor space with seating, views and more. You enter on the top level of the house (where one small but very pretty bedroom houses a comfy bed for a couple), and you're immediately struck by not only the view but the wealth of comfortable places to talk, read and relax...it's like rooms within a room. The fireplace is a great focal point as well, and we enjoyed it nearly every night after a full day at the beach. This opens up onto a deck with two seating areas - one for dining and one banquette style lounge area with top notch upholstery and pillows, making it a great place to hang out for hours. Every bedroom was special in its own way, and all beds were incredibly comfortable and had great linens and comforters - our kids referred to them as "nests" and sometimes had to be prodded to get out of them, so tucked in were they each morning. There's an endless supply of beach and bath towels, plus two dryers and washer for when our clothes got too sandy from too much fun. Every bathroom had special touches as well, from a beautiful hand-tiled shower in what we called the "kids'" bathroom, to the spacious master's walk-in shower. And the private outdoor shower is a life-saver, just outside the ground floor entrance that leads to the bedrooms. You could shower, wrap up in a towel, and come inside clean and shiny. The dune deck is unlike anything on any other property (and this is a double lot - making it even more special) and the ideal place for that first cup of coffee or a glass of wine at sunset. We loved sitting on the deck as the kids played on the beach, and every night the entire family congregated on the deck to end our day together. We loved having the house set back from the beach, behind the garden where we enjoyed the fire pits and associated s'mores...it gave us so much room, great privacy, and great views without others looking in on our private space. I can't recommend this house enough, and we can't wait to return! 07 August 2014 - 21:25:12

This house is relaxing and comfortable. We rented with 4 adults (2 couples) and 2 dogs and had plenty of space for 2-3 friends to come stay on the weekend. The beds were soft and comfortable, not like the average lumpy beds usually in rental homes. The upstairs, deck, fire-pit and dune deck areas were great for both small and large group gatherings throughout the day. The kitchen had all the pots, utensils and plates we needed. The oven, dishwasher, and coffee maker were clean and easy to use. The only things the house did not have were specialty cocktail glasses, like martini or champagne flutes. We brought a few and left them behind for the next guests. Overall, the house has plenty of space to hang out together and to get away and have some space. We will consider renting this house again with friend and family. 10 September 2014 - 21:07:42

Whenever I discover someplace wonderful and unique, it is always difficult to decide whether to keep it to myself or share it-and risk not being able to get a reservation! In good conscience, I feel I need to share. This home doesn't feel like a rental. We entertained several nights and the antique dining table which sat 10 was filled with friends. Whipping up the gourmet meal was a breeze with tons of counter space, a professional range, good cookware, refrigerator drawers to cool all the wine and beer-and Sophie Conran dishes just like I have at home. Now if we'd just had Riedel wine glasses....We ate breakfast on the deck and enjoyed the gorgeous ocean view and the hummingbirds in the garden. So idyllic and peaceful with the sound of waves. Sunsets were spent on the dune deck with wine and hors d'oeuvres-the acrylic wine glasses and serveware were ideal. Our shih tzu Dilley was in heaven. Long walks on the beach(no leashes required) lots of birds to chase and meeting many friendly dogs. It was a quick and easy walk down the beach to town and it was so handy having a market and a bookstore. We stayed upstairs in the canopy bedroom, very comfy bed and soft pillows. The upstairs bath was great, beautiful views of the mountains and privacy. My brother-in-law loved the media room, he watched sports and we all watched a movie together one night. My sister(who snagged the master bedroom) was very happy. She said the bed was heavenly and the huge shower was great. This house may not be for everyone as it is quite a bit more sophisticated than many we have stayed in over the years. If you appreciate eclectic decor, original art and luxurious comforts, you will be so happy you decided to treat your family to a stay in this home. 17 January 2015 - 03:02:45

We couldn't have asked for a more idyllic spot for our family vacation. There were three generations-and one dog-who all had an amazing time. It is the ideal location, lots of privacy but the beach is right out the front door through the garden. The house provided us with everything we needed from shampoo to firewood to spices in the kitchen. The "guys" loved the BBQ and made some fantastic meals for all of us. Gramma loved the well-stocked kitchen and treated us all to her delicious Italian cuisine. We intended to dine out but the food at home was just too darn good! The kids raved about the media room-lots of great movie choices and games. There are very comfortable beds, down comforters and silky cotton sheets. Tons of beach towels, beach chairs, a couple of boogie boards, sand toys-everything! Outdoor shower was a huge hit with the kids a well as the fire pit(ghost stories of course). Charming decor, vintage posters and original art throughout the home. Our two favorite things? Morning coffee on the dune deck-as well as sunset cocktails. The great room! We could all hang out together with plenty of room and comfy furniture. We had one minor problem but we called the local manager and it was cheerfully taken care of within the hour. Great house and such nice owners! We are already trying to coordinate a date for 2015. 27 January 2015 - 04:31:13

For the second year (and we've booked again for 2015), three generations of our family spent Christmas at this perfect home. It is relaxing for us all, has easy access to the beach, enough indoor and outdoor space for us all to spread out and privacy for the ones who want to sleep a little later. Several of us particularly appreciate the kitchen where we enjoying cooking more elaborate meals than we do during the year. This year our son-in-law also loved flying the kite he found under the deck. We couldn't thank you more for the time our far-flung group can spend together and remember so fondly. 01 February 2015 - 19:08:43
  12. My family of grandparents, parents, grandchildren, and dogs have gathered at this house for four years now, and we are looking forward to a fifth reunion there. Why? Location, layout, and management. First, views: from the kitchen, look at the golden ridges of Mt. Tam; from the deck, watch the sun set beside the Farallon islands through an ancient Monterey pine; from the top of the dunes, sit on a bench and survey the beach. The house has direct access to the beach through a garden and a boardwalk over the dunes (which protect the garden from wind). Second, layout: from the upstairs bedroom or the three downstairs, early risers can leave the house for the beach or come upstairs to light a cozy fire in the fireplace and fix themselves breakfast, all without disturbing others; owls can watch TV or movies in the media room until 2 a.m. and not be heard by sleepers. Third, management: the owners have set up an excellent kitchen (with a big gas grill on the deck) that works well for any kind of cooking from elaborate to simple; they have created a charming and comfortable ambiance; they keep the house well supplied with mundane goods like paper towels and generously supplied with beach gear, guidebooks, DVDs, and even binoculars; if something should happen to go wrong, a local manager will soon send someone to fix the problem. It is a solid old house and it feels like a home. 10 February 2015 - 15:41:12

We have visited this home during the summer when our friend was renting it and fell in love! Everything was just as we remembered but this time we got to stay in the master bedroom. Such a quiet, peaceful haven for sleeping late, enjoying that first cup of coffee on the deck, followed by a long leisurely walk on the beach. 2015 has been crazy and this warm and charming home gave us all a chance to relax and recharge. Only 40 minutes away from home but it felt like we were a million miles away-with all the amenities available. Everything we needed was provided. Great BBQ too. Our dog was in heaven, such an amazing beach. Only thing we would change? Next time we'll stay two weeks! 12 February 2015 - 23:58:47

My sister and brother-in-law rented this home, because of its location and amenities for the fourth year in a row. This was my first time but now I understand why they come back every summer! I am a professional chef and really appreciated the well-equipped and spacious kitchen. The dining area has a wonderful view-but the best spot is the dune deck for hors d'ouevres and a glass of wine. We watched the seals(sea lions?) playing in the surf and were treated to a spectacular sunset. The private garden was an great spot for sitting around the fire pit, stargazing and listening to the pounding surf. My bed was very comfortable and although it's summer, the down comforter was much appreciated. The guys all watched a game on the large TV in the media room just to get a break from all that sun. Forgot to mention I got to bring my dog, Charles. What an amazing beach for dogs-no leashes, lots of friendly dogs and plenty of birds to chase. I would definitely recommend this home and hope my sister continues the tradition! 06 August 2015 - 01:05:06

Gathered the family of 2 daughters with their spouses & my 3 grandchildren to have a week going to & from the water without a worry. Everyone had their own space with 4 bedrooms & media room plus 3 bathrooms including 1 with a tub for the wee ones. We took advantage of the table on the deck for lunch(seats 8) & the dining table(seats 10) for other meals. We had wonderful meals using the BBQ for steaks & chicken as well as the large kitchen where more than 1 person can function in food prep. The firepit was a big hit as we gathered in the evening post dinner for S'mores with music & conversation. The BEACH was the big hit with building sand castles with moats awaiting the flood, Jabba the Hut, runs, walks, rock climbing/bouldering & paddle boarding. The board was delivered & picked up. On an overcast day we went to Point Reyes Visitor Center to enjoy the artifacts & a hike to the Miwok village replica. We also enjoyed the donuts from Parkside after bouldering & playground time. Hope to return in the future. 28 August 2015 - 22:51:22

Our extended family - grandparents, parents, young children, and a dog - enjoyed a perfect Christmas week in this wonderfully located Stinson Beach house. The kitchen and adjoining great room with its views to the ocean and fireplace was spacious and comfortably furnished enough for everyone to find a nook to read, play games, do jigsaw puzzles, snack at the large dining room table, or nap in the sun. The entertainment room downstairs kept all the AV distractions sequestered but, with its virtually wall-to-wall sofas, large enough for everyone to stretch out and see a movie together. The kitchen was liberally equipped enough to make preparing meals for this gang a real pleasure, and, of course, the beach and the fenced yard was ideal for hours of walks and playtime with the dog. Put it this way - we managed all the Christmas rituals without a tear from any of the grandchildren or visible signs of stress from their parents, and I'd give the house a large measure of the credit. We'll be back. 05 January 2017 - 12:12:59

I am a bit delayed in writing reviews for the properties! This home has a wonderful living area and kitchen, huge and sunny with views of the ocean and huge sliding doors that open up onto the deck - very unique. Our stay was wonderful overall, but our arrival, which we had confirmed would be 2pm, was not. After an 8 hour drive to get there, the house had not been cleaned. It was not in the condition I usually leave a property, somewhat gross to walk in on that. We waited almost two hours while the housekeepers came, not very happy since we were quite tired. However we noticed almost immediately that there were spiderwebs with bugs in them in many corners and wondered how the housekeepers didn't see those - again perhaps we are a bit cleaner than most folks. The coffee maker did not work (not a crisis), and the dvd/tv did not work despite 45 minutes attempting to get it to play. Disappointed 5 year olds are not fun to deal with.... But it is a wonderful property, with some nice upgrades in certain parts of the house. Beware those with disabilities, it has lots of stairs, including steep ones into the front door. One upside is that the master has a direct door to the outside - very nice for someone who has a dog. I find it odd, however, that when we directed our comments regarding the tv, coffee maker etc...which if I had a rental property, I would surely want to know about, the owner was not very interested in our comments and in fact made a snide remark when we went to rebook. Disappointed and surprised by the response, we decided we would rather not deal with someone like that. We booked elsewhere this year. 23 October 2011 - 16:56:05

Had a wonderful family gathering at this Stinson beach house. We love cooking/eating together & the well appointed, large kitchen was perfect for that. The great room is truly great in size - with lots of cozy spots - super comfortable couches, chairs. The view from that room (which includes dining table) is spectacular. One of our favorite things to do: sit on the private dune deck, watching the sunset after a long walk on the beach. As is often the case, a few issues came up during our stay, but in spite of it being the holiday, and the owners themselves traveling, they were immediately responsive. We hope to return! 30 December 2017 - 18:19:00
