About listing

One of the original Stinson Beach homes renovated for a memorable stay in this classic California beach town. Wonderful Ocean and Mountain Views from every room upstairs and a sun deck overlooking the town and beach. The quaint backyard native garden features additional decks and a hot tub to provide a relaxing and tranquil get away from it all. This home is for folks who want to park their car and enjoy walking to restaurants, hiking trails, library, playground, shops, our market and the beach all within 300 steps. Two downstairs bedrooms with 1 king bed, 1 queen bed and a small single bedroom all with french doors to the outside. It is protected from the coastal wind and has some of the mildest weather in this region. The home is up the hill from the store above the town and has some foot and vehicle traffic that pass by the house. It is far enough away from the beach and town activities to remain somewhat civilized and as always, gives you an entertaining look at the local culture and wonderful walking access to this fantastic part of California.

Great space and location to enjoy a few days a Stinson beach. House was well equipped and located a 5 minute walk to Stinson beach. Great sunset views, lovely garden with hotub. The house has lots of windows and a very warm cozy feel. We hope to visit again and will certainly recommend staying at Jim's place. 10 October 2017 - 17:57:00

Our stay at this home was wonderful. The house is beautifully updated with windows everywhere. It is bright, airy, very clean and tastefully decorated - such a pleasure to spend time in. The beds were comfortable and bedding was pretty too! The yard is nicely landscaped with a clean hot tub under a beautiful redwood tree in the private backyard and the decks overlooked the ocean in the horizon. The location of the house was perfect for us. It truly is just a few steps up the hill from the town market and the other restaurants and shops in town and a short, few minute walk to the beach. Without a doubt, we would gladly return and spend more time in this beach house! 11 September 2014 - 22:46:02

Nice clean house with modern, well maintained interior within walking distance of the few blocks that are Stinson. Owner was responsive and we have no complaints except to wish we'd booked another day. 24 September 2014 - 01:53:08

Selected this beautiful property for our family get together to celebrate our daughter's graduation in SF. We're from various cities in southern California, so we particularly loved the setting, views, deck and gardens surrounding the hot tub, which was used after all the surfing and hiking experiences. We loved the bbq and beautiful kitchen where the family enjoyed cooking and being together. Owner was very attentive to any needs that came up. We loved our experience here and highly recommend it! 24 May 2015 - 16:46:22

This house was exactly as described and more than exceeded expectations. I live in Sonoma and knew Stinson from a day tripper's perspective, but it was so nice to wake up and walk to the beach (an easy 5 mins), slip into the market for more groceries (3 doors down and surprisingly well stocked) and just hang on one of the many decks for a glass of wine listening to the ocean. A total treat. The house is laid out well, all bedrooms are on the same floor and a large upstairs living space that let the family spread out easily. And the deck with the hot tub gives you even more elbow room. James was responsive and made the whole rental very easy. Check out the cool photo album while there of the remodel he did. Impressive! We are already planning next year's visit! 05 July 2015 - 16:24:55

We were so lucky to find this gem in our favorite vacation destination. Owner so very accommodating and very responsive to us before, during and after our stay. The only problem we had was tearing ourselves away from this beautiful home! The design of this restored beauty shows great thoughtfulness from a long-time property owner. We literally parked and never got in the car until we left, although would be great base for someone exploring Marin County. 20 July 2015 - 13:50:35

My daughter, two grandchildren and myself, enjoyed a wonderful week in this beautiful home. We especially enjoyed the very well appointed kitchen. Super convenient for the beach, and a quick stroll down to a well stocked grocery store, which carried a variety of morning newspapers (for those who can't help themselves.) The children had a wonderful experience at Slide Ranch Camp, Muir Beach. Chinese food in China Town, S.F., and oysters at Hogg Island Oyster Co. not too far away. Owner extremely attentive and pleasant. 30 July 2015 - 21:24:37

This home is a gorgeous, peaceful sanctuary tucked near the culture and bustling fun of SF and Marin. We truly loved Stinson Beach and the surrounding vibes. This home has every thoughtful amenity and the ocean view is breathtaking and ever changing with the fog. It's extremely spacious and luxurious with lovely gardens, decks, furniture, linens and art. As foodies, we went to Tomales Bay Foods, Palace Market, Hog Island Oyster Co. and Tobys to purchase local ingredients, then cooked up a storm in the top of the line kitchen stocked with the best quality cooking tools, bakeware and tabletop accoutrements. We went on long walks around the winding hills, met cool locals and loved the easy access to the beach. The owners are conscientious and amiable as you make your plans leading up to your arrival. I can't recommend this wonderful home and area highly enough... 11 August 2015 - 01:41:45

I loved this home. The kitchen was well stocked and perfect for making wonderful meals, lots of light and views of the ocean make this the perfect getaway rain or shine. Good beds with cotton lines make sleeping easy. The hot tub in the back yard is protected from the frequent winds of Northern California. Hiking trails abound, you can walk everywhere. If you want arrive and don't step into your car the entire stay! 20 September 2015 - 05:26:15

My family really loved this house. The location is great--steps to the general store, a few more to the beach, yet quiet and peaceful. The house is thoughtfully and beautifully renovated, has everything you could need, plenty of space, and is warm and inviting. The garden and hot tub are lovely. Jim made coming and going very simple. We plan on returning when we can. 31 May 2016 - 17:35:51

Beautiful house with a wonderful view of the ocean. Very tranquil garden! Great place to stay and even better that it was walkable to the town as well as the beach! The owner very thoughtfully let us know of constuction issues ahead of time and was very responsive! 30 October 2017 - 21:47:00

The Cedar Home is so beautiful and well-appointed. We loved the location up the hill from the town store, and the view that came with it. We typically stay near the beach in Stinson, but we will be back to this house for sure. The kitchen had everything we needed, the bedrooms were very comfortable and the hot tub was an added perk. Jim was very accommodating and available to answer any questions. 17 January 2018 - 17:56:00

The house is clean and bright and has everything you need for a relaxing get away. Being just up the street from the market and main drag in Stinson meant we didn't need to hop in the car for anything. Jim is a thoughtful host and very responsive throughout the booking process. I'm planning another stay this summer. Thanks for sharing your home Jim! 21 January 2018 - 22:46:00
