About listing

This spacious 2BR apartment is located on the second floor of a brownstone that was recently gut renovated using natural, warm materials in a modern yet comfortable way. It has everything you want: open common space, private bedrooms, a Carrera marble bath, guest-controlled heat & A/C as well as a washer/dryer. It features a great open layout with the kitchen open to the dining and living area for communal cooking & sharing. WiFi included, along with flat screen TV, Wii, & Apple TV for streaming audio & video. The kitchen is fully outfitted: Stainless steel dishwasher, full refrigerator, gas oven, and microwave, as well as small appliances and everything you need to enjoy a home-cooked meal while you travel. We're also steps to the best of Brooklyn's great markets like Trader Joe's and Los Paisanos, among others, not to mention outstandingly delicious dining options. The bedrooms are private and quiet, facing the backyard, which is graced by singing birds and a huge willow tree that greets you in the morning. Both bedrooms feature an iron bed with a queen Simmons mattress. There is also a comfortable sofa and an Aerobed to accommodate additional guests. The apartment is on a friendly, quiet block that provides easy parking and is located around the corner from the Bergen St stop on the F train and all that Smith Street offers. A dog lives in the building but not in this apartment, so I'm pet-friendly...I bought the house to have a yard for Baxter! You'll see him in the photos, but we'll be out of your way during your visit. Pets are welcome, based on the outcome of a conversation between potential guests and myself! The full apartment is yours to enjoy. I'm generally here, as I live in the apartment directly below this one, and am able to help as much as you'd like. If for any reason I'm out of town, I'm easily accessible by phone, text or email. I absolutely love Brownstone Brooklyn and Boerum Hill is arguably the most convenient of all the brownstone neighborhoods. With the F train around the corner, you're in Manhattan in 10 minutes or less and Midtown in 25. But if you decide to explore the 'hood, you get all of the hip with none of the hassle. Enjoy an urban and urbane environment of boutiques, cafes and tree-lined streets. I find it the perfect place to relax after buzzing around Manhattan! Please note that the extra guest fee is effective when the 2nd bedroom and/or aerobeds are used. Should you be a couple sharing one bedroom, just let me know in your request and I'll adjust the quote. Also note that extended stays of a 25+ days will include additional cleaning and security fees. That keeps everything in good shape for everyone — thanks for understanding!

Noreen is the perfect host. Always quick mail responses with good advice before and under our stay. And such a nice welcoming. We loved this apartment situated in a nice quiet and safe neighborhood, - close to several good supermarkets, takeoutplaces and restaurants - walking distance to Brooklyn Bridge Park (1 km), from where we enjoyed several sunsets over downtown Manhattan, as well as morning run to Brooklyn Bridge - Subway will get you easy to Manhatten and the Beach/Coney Island The apartment has a very good spacious layout, plenty of storage space for clothes and luggage, and good air condition for the hot days. We enjoyed the well equipped and funktionel kitchen - as well as the possibilities for having our clothes washed after our stay in Washington and hotel at Manhattan midtown. To put it short, it made a perfect base for our family, 2 adults and 2 teenage daughters. For the many happy days we stayed in Brooklyn, we had a home away from home! We can certainly recommend this apartment, and would like to come back. 30 July 2016 - 16:52:11

The apartment was super-comfortable and the owner was incredibly accessible and welcoming - even providing snacks! The location is really amazing. Everything at your fingertips. 23 March 2016 - 01:14:00

We enjoyed every day of our stay at this perfectly equipped and located apartment. Everything was even better than we had expected. The bedrooms were very quiet and the beds comfortable and helped us recover from long, long New York sightseeing tours ;). The neighborhood with all its shops and restaurants is a very pleasant one and you could spend days there without travelling to Manhattan. We would like to say thank you again to Noreen and Baxter and - not to forget for the welcome presents we found on our arrival. If possible, we will come back, for sure! 31 December 2016 - 11:37:00

We stayed here for 4 days over Thanksgiving weekend. Great apartment. Very comfortable and has everything you need for cooking a Thanksgiving dinner. (I did bring my own pan to cook the Turkey but that was it). The apartment is in a great location right near the subway and many good restaurants close by. Not far from Trader Joe's if you need to pick up groceries. Plenty of parking since you are on the same street as a school. Very quiet. Noreen is wonderful to work with and she gets back to you quickly if you need anything. We also enjoyed the treats she left for us. Was a very much appreciated since we had been driving all day. We will definitely stay here again. 04 December 2016 - 13:57:00

From a welcoming chalkboard message, snacks and bottle of wine to a fully-equipped kitchen and dining table for eight, Noreen has thought of every comfort and convenience a traveler could want. The immaculate contemporary apartment was a true home away from home during the week of our daughter's wedding and we loved returning to the quiet, beautiful block. The neighborhood is fantastic--Court Street, Smith Street, Atlantic Avenue--whether for vintage boutiques or Trader Joe's. Transportation options are easy and convenient. Noreen is a thoughtful and responsive host and we will definitely be staying here again. Louise M., Santa Monica, CA 25 April 2017 - 02:36:00

Our family of four had a fabulous time in New York and having this apartment as our base only enhanced our stay. Noreen is amazing and so accomodating. We would definitely recommend this property and would love to stay again! 29 May 2017 - 06:34:00

The place is wonderful, even better than expected! I also loved the neighborhood, there is a wonderful little bar on the corner that we visited every night. Easy subway ride into Manhattan. Four of us were very comfortable there. I definitely plan to come back and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. 16 June 2017 - 19:07:00

The pictures showing the apartment are extremely representative of what it is like--airy, bright comfortable, a real home! We loved the good size rooms, comfortable beds and great kitchen. Extremely well located near shops, restaurants, metro, movie theater, everything is within short walking distance. We wanted to be in Brooklyn to be near our daughter and have our son stay with us as well. This apartment greatly fulfilled our needs and more. Thank you Noreen! 19 June 2017 - 14:01:00

Our stay could not have been better. Beautiful flat in a convenient and character-filled part of Brooklyn, easy access to subways and walk over the bridge to Manhattan. Noreen was available and responsive with good advice and suggestions. Would definitely stay again. 29 July 2017 - 16:52:00

Comfy beds, comfy furniture...truly a home away from home! Fabulous restaurants and shopping all within walking distance. I can't say enough about this terrific apartment and area! 25 September 2017 - 12:53:00

This apartment is so comfortable and homey, with warm touches throughout, so that we didn't feel like we were staying in a sterile, barely-furnished holiday rental. The neighborhood can't be beat; it's so easy to get to Manhattan but we had a few days when we didn't even bother...there are so many sights, restaurants and shops to explore here. Noreen is a kind and helpful host and we hope to visit again before long! All our best to Baxter! 11 October 2017 - 16:14:00

We stayed in this fantastic apartment for 10 months after moving to New York from the UK and we loved everything about it. The apartment itself is furnished to a high standard, extremely clean and is very tastefully decorated. The 2 bedrooms are of equal size which is great if sharing and both have plenty of storage space. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you should need during your stay. There is a large dining table which is a big plus compared to a lot of NYC apartments which lack the space. The living area is very cozy, with a comfortable sofa and chair. The TV is large and there is also apple TV which was great for us watching Netflix. The apartment is in a beautiful brownstone building on a tree lined street. After living in Manhattan for a few months, we were really surprised at how quiet it was, and enjoyed being able to hear the birds singing outside rather than the cars and sirens of the city. Smith Street is 1 min walk away, and Court Street just a bit further. These 2 streets in our opinion are 2 of the best in NYC, with an abundance of great restaurants and bars, and also interesting independent stores as well as the usual drugstores and Trader Joe's Supermarket on Court. We love the neighbourhood, it is very safe, feels like an escape from the city, but also has so much going on with Smith and Court Street right on your doorstep. We also loved walking through Brooklyn Heights to Brooklyn Bridge Park, which is about a mile away and enjoying the amazing views of the city. The Atlantic Barclays Centre is also within a miles walk with bigger stores, such as Target and Best Buy and also the Brooklyn Nets Basketball in the newly built Arena which is an experience we would definitely recommend. The subway links to the city are great, with the F and G line a 2 minute walk away, which takes you into the city within 10/15 mins, but also the A/C/2/3/4/5 all within a 10 minute walk, so it is so easy to get anywhere in the city. Noreen, the owner was very accommodating, always on call and resolved any issues we had very quickly. Overall we couldn't recommend staying in this apartment enough! 11 January 2015 - 16:57:46

We stayed in this apartment for one month after moving to New York from Paris. We'd highly, highly recommend this apartment, either for a short-term stay or a long(er)-term stay. Its smack in the middle of one of the most user-friendly neighborhoods in NYC, with all the shopping/dining/entertainment needs you can get in Manhattan with the warmth and chill of Brownstone Brooklyn. In fact you couldn't be better located - walking distance from Downtown Brooklyn/Brooklyn Heights/Boerum Hil etc and a wealth of subway lines to Manhattan. My work commute to downtown Manhattan was 18 minutes - no joke, door-to-door. The apartment is very well equipped with modern appliances and the beds are comfortable. Noreen, the owner, is very welcoming yet respects privacy and is extremely non-intrusive. She makes you feel at home and is truly interested in making sure her guests enjoy the place and Brooklyn. Lots of light in the apartment, pouring in through the nice big windows in the front - while the back you truly do open windows onto a lush garden! We had two young (insane) three year olds and they loved the place, you are in walking distance of plenty of playgrounds/parks/kids activities. Without kids you are even in better luck - you have Brooklyn's best bars/restos within a 10 minutes radius. This is a find! 04 March 2015 - 04:41:15

My husband and I, with our one year old son, stayed in this apartment for three weeks. Noreen was the perfect host and was able to provide us with all the information and details that we could have asked for. The unit itself is very well maintained-- clean and organized-- and even the hallway leading up to the door is beautiful. Clearly Noreen has put a lot of care into the property. The kitchen came fully stocked and we cooked often, although there is no need when the area is bustling with great cafes, restaurants and nightlife. It's seriously the best location! And, there was a playground across the street for our son which was a bonus! Street parking is also very easy to find in the area. Our only negative was the pipes. As older brownstones go in New York, they have a lot of charm but also have stood the test of time. Street noise is actually a minimum and the bedrooms themselves are in the back near the gardens so quiet from cars etc, but you will hear neighbors in the building come home and walk above you across the hardwood floors. Every time they use the toilet or water you will hear the water rush and several minutes of banging and clanking as the water drips in the pipes. It's not the loudest but definitely took some getting used to. 09 April 2015 - 18:58:04

This apt is terrific. All updated, very clean, nicely equipped, quality linens etc. Noreen was a terrific host and lives on site so was able to let us into our apt when we were locked out. Our family of 6 had a comfortable stay. Boys used a blow up bed and the couch to sleep on. It all worked great. The one bathroom did require using our scheduling skills but we made it work. Would definitely stay here again. Close to Smith St which has everything you need--subways, food, drink etc. great spot 12 April 2015 - 16:12:01

We were thrilled from the moment we opened the door...the apartment is large, comfortable and immaculate. it's furnished with everything you could think of, including luxurious sheets and towels. The owner, Noreen, is very welcoming and responsive and Baxter is as sweet and adorable as we expected! We'd come back in a heartbeat and recommend others to do so too! 26 April 2015 - 04:30:39

My wife and I live in Boerum Hill with our two kids and we needed a place for my parents to stay. This was their 4th trip from England, their 4th rental in the neighborhood, and it was by far THE best one. The apartment was immaculate and felt like a home but not cluttered with lots of personal belongings. It felt like the best of both home and hotel. Noreen left a bottle of wine and some other snacks to welcome my parents. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could need so they were able to host dinner there for all of us. The rooms and the bathroom were beautiful and spacious. And the towels and soaps were luxurious! We would definitely have my parents stay here again. They were extremely happy and aren't the easiest to please! 06 June 2015 - 23:44:13

We traveled to Brooklyn for my daughter's wedding (she lives nearby). We had (3) generations and (5) people in our group. The location, size and beauty of the apt were a delight to all of us. Noreen had even provided a special tasty treat for us when we arrived. I can't say enough about how happy we were to stay in Noreen's beautiful apartment. I have been to NY (Brooklyn) several times and was most impressed with this place. It provided the comfort and room we needed to make the whole trip a success! Everyone in our group gives this place a big thumbs up. Even my daughter who lives nearby loved it. 15 July 2015 - 13:34:41

The location and setup of this apartment was absolutely perfect for our family and our visit. We traveled to New York to visit friends with our two small children. The apartment is meticulous with updated decor, excellent working A/C (we visited during a heat wave), and newly renovated bathroom and kitchen. The Xbox 360 was a HUGE hit with our kids and a perfect way for them to decompress after long days of sightseeing. The location is super convenient - the subway is right around the corner, a Trader Joe's is short walk and there are lots of cute shops and restaurants on Smith Street. We felt very much a part of a neighborhood. The street is very quiet with a children's playground and school right across the street. The beds and linens were all fresh, clean and comfortable. Noreen provided a treat to welcome us and was fantastic about checking in with us via email during our stay to make sure everything was okay and to our liking. We will definitely stay here again and have already recommended this apartment to several other families traveling to New York and Brooklyn in the near future. 31 July 2015 - 17:12:06
