We stayed in the front unit. Clean and functional. Julie is very easy to work with. Easy walk to shopping and food. Want to try the water view unit next stay. 09 April 2017 - 23:48:00

This is a great place and all was good with the exception that this is a duplex. A street side, and a ocean side. I was looking at the pic's of the Ocean side and thought I was getting this unit. However I seamed to book the Street side once I booked.. Just make sure you are getting the property with the FULL kitchen if your wanting the Ocean side. The street side is a nice studio type of place. But the other side is great.. Just for the view.. and looks bigger. . 13 February 2016 - 03:04:00

Julie's Ark is right in the heart of Sausalito, with everything in walking distance, and the home itself is great. Light, airy, designed with simplicity and clean lines, the houseboat offers all the comforts of a home away from home. I was visiting with a friend who I had not seen in several years, and the Ark accommodated us very well. The bedroom has sliding doors separating it from the kitchen and living area, where a comfortable sofa bed provides a second bedroom. Each of us had our own private area for sleeping, and during the day we enjoyed visiting in the living room and on the deck. I highly recommend this spot! 29 June 2016 - 13:45:00

My husband and I stayed in the street side unit of the Ark. It was very spacious (except for the kitchen) with a comfortable bed and most of what we needed for the time we were there, however, there were no toiletries in the bathroom as you might expect and we were only given one roll of toilet tissue. I thought it might be noisy being next to the Bar Bocce, but it was not since the town basically "goes to sleep" at 9:00. We slept with our bedroom window open a little and heard nothing until 5:30 when the workers came next door to Bar Bocce. Besides being right next door to Bar Bocce, it is right across the street from Cibo's, a nice little coffee shop that also has a great breakfast and lunch menu in addition to coffee and pastries. It was nice not having to worry about trying to find a place to park our car since one parking spot came with the rental. The drawbacks to this unit are 1) no screens on the windows, although we had no bugs enter, 2) the blinds on the double doors in the living room are too short to provide privacy at night when the lights are on, and 3) the times we were allowed to use the washer and dryer (10am - 7pm) were very inconvenient for us since we were away during those hours. Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay and found Julie and Jonathan easy to work with. We would stay here again. 06 July 2017 - 02:36:00

Hi, The location is excellent !! The hosts were accessible & helpful. The accommodation is comfortable. I only gave 4 / 5 stars because screens to keep mosquitos out at night on the doors and windows would be very helpful and repair so all of the windows opened would be great! Also, we had a couple of windy nights and the exterior and interior wooden doors rattle a LOT (even with all windows and doors closed) - good sleep is so important to sustain a travellers itinerary that it would be nice to have that issue addressed. The car park space right outside the Ark, included in the price, is really wonderful :-) 14 July 2017 - 20:32:00

Loved this little place and next time will probably stay in the back half with the deck. It's not luxurious but a good place to rest and clean up before you take off again. Only negative would be that it is right next to a restaurant so trucks are there early every morning doing something so just shut the bedroom window if this will wake you up. 18 July 2017 - 01:53:00

We enjoy staying on the Ark. it is clean and has everything you need. I like the outside seating area where you can enjoy your coffee or a cocktail. It is in walking distance to everything and Sausalito has so many restaurants to choose from you never get board. It is perfect for two people. Can't imagine staying anywhere else. Thanks to Julie & Jonathan for sharing their property. 05 August 2017 - 17:46:00

If you like to be on the water, the Ark is the perfect spot to see beautiful sunsets. When we come to visit our family in Marin, we always stay on the Ark, it is comfortable and close to everything. Fabulous restaurants all within walking distance, great shops and beautiful parks. It is located close to the 101.The ferry is a walk down the block, bicycles for rent and there is nothing like a nice hike in the headlands. The Ark has it all, clean and comfortable. 20 August 2017 - 15:32:00

Overall our stay was good but we did have a couple of issues. First, check-in time was listed at 4PM, but when we arrived at 4 the cleaning crew was still there. We waited about 15-20 minutes, not a big deal. Second, there was no soap, shampoo, etc. in the shower. Fortunately we brought our own and it wasn't an imposition. We had a problem one night with the cable TV as the other unit of the arc was controlling both their and our TV. Finally, the bed was uncomfortable and I woke up with a sore back each day. That may be a longer list of issues than some will want to deal with, but the location over the water and close to restaurants and shopping, along with cost savings compared to the hotels in the area made it a good value. 24 August 2017 - 16:46:00

Great location with everything we needed in good working order. Clean and comfortable. Highly recommend Salito restaurant just 2 doors down and NoName Bar just a short walk away. Great hiking biking and quick trip to city on the ferry. We'll be back. 18 September 2017 - 15:41:00

Once again we had a fabulous time in Sausalito. Our favorite place to stay is the Julie Marlow. We have been staying on the Ark since 2006 and every time has been great. The location is perfect for those with or without a car. The bed is comfortable and there is plenty of storage space. The kitchen area is more than adequate, it has everything you need. We love being on the water and the view of the bay is magnificent, especially at sunset. I love having my coffee on the deck at sunrise. All the shops and great restaurants are within walking distance and you can hop on the ferry for a quick delightful ride into the city. Julie and Jonathan are easy to deal with and it is always a pleasure to see and talk with Jonathan. Can't wait for our next visit. We thank you for sharing your Ark with us. We arrived at just after 5pm to find a unmade and tossed, dirty bed as well as a dirty towels in a dirty bathroom, and a dirty kitchen with full garbage. When we called the owner she was very indifferent and nonchalant. She said she would contact the cleaning lady and apologized. She texted a few minutes later stating she was closer than the cleaning lady so would be there "asap". I had to ask what asap meant as we had expressed we had an engagement we were to attend. I also expressed that the situation was unacceptable. She offered to refund "our" cleaning deposit and said she should be there in about 30 minutes. My brother and I had just returned from my aunts memorial and had plans with the family that evening that we completely missed because we were dealing with this and were unable to get cleaned up, change our cloths and prepare for the evening. We did not get the go ahead to return to the place until 7:30. Multiple times I mentioned that the situation was unacceptable. This was ignored by the Julie except to offer up an other apology. I finally said that I was paying for a unit that I was unable to access and use. We missed important family plans at a difficult time. I was hoping she would do the right thing and offer at least 1/2 the night's stay. She was not going there so I finally did. I can say that she agreed to refund the entire night after telling us that the remote had been broken and the cable was also not working. I loved the location but, as a previous vacation rental owner, the situation was very miss handled. Mistakes happen but, when they do, you should go above and beyond to make things right. The FIRST thing I would have said as an owner would have been "Of course you will not be charged for tonights stay and I will personally come clean the unit immediately!" Unfortunate this sort of response had to be dragged out of her. 08 June 2016 - 21:01:00

We were so happy to find this gem in Sausalito for our visit to San Francisco. Such a beautiful place and having a parking place right outside the door is a welcome bonus. The best restaurants in town are all within a few blocks too. Thank you and we will stay here again! 29 September 2017 - 16:48:00

I am arrived after dark and the place was totally dark in the porch lights were off so it was extremely difficult to get into the lock box and I have to call the owners. Great location and clean place but the blinds didnt provide for privacy and I thought I was renting a place on the water with a view and it had a view of the parking lot. Maybe that was my mistake but I didnt know that there were two parts to the houseboat and I was getting the parking lot view 04 November 2017 - 19:38:00

The Ark (town side) is nice inside: roomy and cozy. It is right next door to a great restaurant/bar (that looks out onto the bay), a block away from a nice breakfast spot and a half block away from a market. Enjoy all of Sausalito without using a car. You can walk to the San Francisco ferry too. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend getaway with this wonderful place we got to (briefly) call "home". 18 December 2017 - 02:58:00

We stayed here during Thanksgiving week. The location is 1 mile from 101 North ( Muir Woods)and (101 South )5 miles to the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco. It is also a beautiful easy walk to downtown Sausalito and many great restaurants within walking distance. 02 December 2017 - 01:02:00

We had a great stay! The place is in a great location within walking distance to the ferry, many restaurants, and shops. There were a few issues (ants in the bathroom, loose screws on the front door which made it difficult to shut, and cable TV fuzziness) the owner may not know about but overall the space is great. Helpful notes: - There are TWO units in this houseboat you can rent. Make sure you know which one you are renting as we didn't and were facing the street instead of the harbor... - The windows don't really open for airflow - You have to wash your own laundry bedding before you leave - The building is also not a floating houseboat, it's on stilts at the harbor 21 November 2017 - 19:42:00
