About listing

Tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable one-bedroom apartment, situated on the third (4th in the USA) floor of an 18th century walk-up building. The building facade has been renovated, and an elevator is now available. Located in the heart of the historical Marais, one of the oldest and well-known neighbourhoods in the capital. The apartment is in a building typical of the Marais quarter with exposed beams. The building has a security code then an intercom opening, and there is a lovely stone courtyard. The apartment door opens into an entrance with a well equipped open kitchen to your right. To your left, there is the bedroom, followed by the living room. The 15m² (approx. 140 sq. ft.) living room has a window and parquet flooring. It is furnished with a double size sofa bed, a charming chimney (only decorative), some shelves and a dining table with chairs. There is also a free Internet Wi-Fi connection, the cable TV (CNN, CNBC...) with a flat screen, a phone with free calls to fixed lines in Europe, US, Canada and Australia, and a Hi-Fi stereo system. The 12m² (approx.110 sq. ft.) bedroom has a window and parquet floor and is furnished with a double size bed, two bedside tables, a closet and a desk. The open kitchen is equipped with two vitroceramic plates topped by an exhaust fan, a microwave combo oven, a fridge, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a coffee maker, a toaster and a kettle. It also has a window. The bathroom has a shower, a washbasin on a wooden cabinet, a toilet and a heated towel rack. This is a non-smoking apartment and pets are not authorized. You’re just a few minutes from the Saint Paul and Hôtel de Ville metro stations and only 10 minutes from the RERs A and B which take you directly to both major airports and Disneyland Paris. You’re right next to: * Place des Vosges * Notre Dame Cathedral * Louvre * Ile Saint Louis * Ile de la Cité * Georges Pompidou Centre * 17th century mansions * Hôtel de Sully * Carnavalet Museum * Picasso Museum * Jardin des Tuileries * Sainte Catherine Place * La Bastille The Marais is filled with bustling cafés, boutiques, trendy clubs, art galleries, design shops and restaurants. Open air markets and supermarkets are also in the neighbourhood. It's a great place to spend your vacation in Paris. Keywords:

My husband and I, along with our 11 year old daughter stayed at Serge's apartment for a week in February. It was everything we were looking for...charming, comfortable, with every amenity we could possibly need. The kitchen was very modern, with a nice size refrigerator, washer, stovetop, and all the dishes and pots we needed to prepare our own meals. The living room is very cozy with a very comfortable sleeper couch, a nice flat screen tv, and a table for eating the warm baguettes we got down the street! The seperate bedroom was also nice, with a very comfortable bed and soft bedding. The closet had a lot of storage room as well. The bathroom was also beautiful and had a great shower in it. The building itself is very safe, with a secured door you have to enter to get into the premises and brings you into a cute courtyard. The apartment is on the third floor, so it is quite a walk up, but it didn't bother us. The neighborhood itself is located in the Marais and is also very safe and charming, with bakeries and cafes all around, as well as a supermarket (Monoprix) very near. The St. Paul stop for the metro is very close and runs along line number one which goes directly to the Louvre, Concorde, Champs Elsyees and the Bastille. We took the metro everywhere and loved how efficient it was! We really couldn't have asked for more in an apartment. It was like a home away from home for us. The only thing missing was an alarm clock, so hopefully Serge will get one, but if not, you might want to bring a travel clock with you. That's my only criticism for a great apartment! Thanks Serge for a wonderful stay! 28 March 2010 - 13:17:10

My sister-in-law, 5-year old niece and I stayed here for four days. It was wonderful. I kept thinking it was too good to be true! The property management reps (two young men) met us at the apartment on schedule. Carried our bags upstairs, gave us recommendations about markets, restaurants, etc. while I kept trying to speak French ... they spoke English. They were so pleasant and helpful. We asked about tipping ettiquette and they said none was necessary. We do think they deserve tips. The apartment is within easy walking distance of everything we wanted to see and we discovered a river taxi for the times my sister-in-law and niece didn't want to walk. You can buy passes so you can ride unlimited trips per day. A friend is visiting in October and I'm recommending this apartment to her. We felt like we were part of the neighborhood within 8 hours. We found our market, bakery, restaurants, bars, an internet cafe around the corner, ATM -- everything we needed within two blocks. They leave a booklet of instructions so if you can't figure out how to work the TV or washing machine, all you have to do is look at the booklet. I really did feel like one of the neighbors. On the first morning, I think I met one of the building's tenants. She was an elderly lady checking her mail. We said "Bonjour" and I tried to explain we were visitors from the US. She said, "Je ne comprend pas." Probably because my French isn't so great. But then on the last day, I saw her again and she greeted me like I was an old friend -- a permanent resident. The only thing that might bother some folks is that young people party and laugh until 2 or 3 in the morning and the week we were there, there was a lot of construction, street cleaning and garbage collection that started about 6 a.m. I was sleeping on the comfortable fold-out sofa and closed the windows so I didn't really hear it. My sis-in-law was in the bedroom and kept the windows open so she heard it but wasn't really bothered by it. It was "happy" noise as someone else described it. The photos really are pretty accurate -- in some ways, I think the apartment might be more comfortable than the photos show. The coffee press works great. The refrigerator and the microwave were all we needed to get by for four days. We were a little challenged with the door keys but by the end of day two (with niece's help), we had them figured out. Our next stop was a hotel room in London. I'd take the apartment over the hotel room any day! 23 June 2010 - 01:39:57

Our apartment was as advertised. The position of the apartment was great, close to everything you need to enjoy your stay. We were given some great recommendations on local places to eat and we had some enjoyable meals on the rue de rosier, we were also made to feel very welcome. Lively local nightlife around the weekend which may suit younger people. Paris is just gorgeous. 07 July 2010 - 01:44:13

My husband and I brought our two boys(ages 13 and 10) to visit Paris for the first time. We wanted something a little more personal than a hotel. Having never stayed in this part of town before, Le Marais is now my favorite. Centrally located yet off the beaten tourist track with many good restaurants and reasonable prices. The apartment was exactly as stated. Clean and comfortable with a nice kitchen. We loved having the free phone to call friends and family back home. A nice touch. Serge is kind enough to book partial weeks as well. Something that is hard to find on VRBO. The whole process of booking was very simple with no extra charges to worry about. Thank goodness for email and paypal!!! We would definitely come and stay here again! 11 November 2010 - 16:51:16

Everything is wonderful about this apartment and I had such a perfect stay. It was easy to reserve, then when I arrived 2 nice gents let me in, made sure I had everything I needed, took payment, and then returned deposit when I left. Seamless. The apartment is very well appointed and has everything you need for comfort and function. The bed is comfortable, linens are good, the towel warmer is incredible and it was always warm inside the apartment even though snowing during my stay. The neighborhood is beautiful and practical with plenty of restaurants, bars, shops and walking distance to where you want to be. I look forward to staying here again on my next trip to Paris. Thank you Serge! 06 January 2011 - 21:51:54

Had a great time there. Unit is modern, well kept and presented. Very comfortable and well located. booking process was very easy and Oliver (who met us and was there when we left) was most helpful. We would definitely stay there again. Photos in VRBO reflect very well this unit. Everything is close - restaurants, market, patisserie, Metro, river..... Loved it and wish we were still there. No complaints at all. 11 October 2011 - 01:16:06

Three of us stayed for 1 week and enjoyed the apartment very much. We appreciated the owner's gracious hospitality. The apartment is beautiful and in a fabulous location. We were especially grateful for the fact that the owner's agent was waiting for us right outside of the apartment to greet us when we arrived and another agent helped us get a taxi to the airport early in the morning when we left. 23 July 2012 - 17:34:41

It was my first visit to this beautiful city and i only wanted it to be more localized rather than to see from eyes of visitors so my boufriend and I decided on apartment rental. Serge's apartment is one of a few among the VRBO flats to allow partial week rental. The first thing I look for from a rental flat was its interior look and feel. The photos attached are all true to reflect the nice and cosy atmosphere it would bring to your stay in Paris. The open kitchen is a plus, with a small oven, a dish washi machine and all utensils ready for you. They are making our homemade breakfasts and dinners much easier. Must mention that the elevator in the building adds value to the apartment since you will regret it if you are carrying heavy or big luggages to Paris. Location is surprisingly good with St Paul station of Metro line 1 just a 3-min walk away. You will find supermarkets, Internet cafe (in case you need to print or photocopy) and restaurants easily in the neighbourhood as well. In short, I will definitely come back to this apartment with future visits. Thanks Serge and Olivier. 21 October 2012 - 20:24:12

Apologies for not leaving this review earlier Oliver and Serge!! It wasn't until I started looking for an apartment [not in paris] for this summer that i realized i failed to leave my review! Well, where to start? My husband and I honeymooned in Paris 15 years ago and stayed in the Marais, so we knew we wanted to go back... this time with 2 children in tow! From start to finish this was a positive experience... Serge was very easy to communicate with even though we were overseas... and Oliver was a pleasure to deal with once we arrived at the flat! The apartment was in immaculate condition with great style... and you couldn't ask for a better location. Close to shops, restaurants and the Metro. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and likely will in the next few years! Thank you again! 16 May 2013 - 18:12:28

Very nice quick stop for us in Paris. Perfect location and the efficiency and promptness of Olivier was much appreciated. Very quiet area, yet easy to get to things. The apartment was just as we had hoped. Thank you! 25 August 2014 - 12:37:32

We stayed in this apartment in Mid July. The apartment is wonderful, very clean, great amenities and wonderful location. The apartment building was great also and had a small elevator so we didn't have to walk up. For a one bedroom it is spacious and comfortable accommodated my family of 4 (2 adults, 4 year old and 1 year old). Serge also provided a travel cot for my 1 year old. Oliver, the apt mgr, is very helpful. We called him on our way into the city and he met us very promptly at the apartment and let us in. I would highly recommend this apartment. There is a club across the street that had music one night, it didn't bother me or my kids. 27 August 2014 - 16:01:31

There are many things to recommend this appartment: location, spacious rooms, elevator, nicely decorated, secure access. Manager, Olivier, and owner, Serge, are both available to help if needed. There is some street noise, so renters should consider their need for quiet against being in a lively neighborhood. My husband and I have stayed here 3 times in the last 2years, each visit for more than 2 weeks. We plan to return to the Rue des couffes the next time. What more can I say! 29 May 2015 - 21:54:11

We had the best time staying at this apt in Paris. Serge was great from the beginning and very easy to work with through the deposit and payment process. The apartment was situated perfectly with in the city as well it was super comfortable. Great shops and restaurants all around with a metro station 4 blocks away. Super convenient. We felt like we were at "home". The bed was very comfortable as well as the sofa. The kitchen was perfect for our needs and the bathroom as well. We really enjoyed our stay. The arrival and departure were also quite easy and we look forward to staying at this apt. again on our future Paris trips. 04 June 2015 - 21:26:35

location ,location, location and on top of that a comfortable and very clean apartment . I am not a 'city' lover at all but we fell in love with Paris and the apartment was a big part of that. We walked everywhere and if we needed to take the subway it was virtually on the corner. Clean , safe neighborhood with many choses for food . Grocery stores close by as well. Short walk to Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter. Serge was very easy to deal with and Thomas who met us at the apartment and was our primary contact once in Paris was caring and efficient in every way. We are returning to Paris and will definitely try to use this apartment once again. We highly recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to enjoy this fabulous city. 21 June 2016 - 14:59:58

My son and I stayed here for 5 nights. Perfect location, right in the middle of fun and chic Marais! The apartment was very comfortable and clean. Serge was very responsive to e-mail requests and the person who met us upon our arrival at the apartment was friendly and helpful. When we had to leave at 8:00 a.m. in order to catch a train, he returned exactly on time to return our deposit. Don't miss out on the boucherie right next door that has fantastic pate! I would definitely rent this apartment again. 27 June 2016 - 18:56:02

My cousin and I stayed in this adorable apartment. It was a great place to stay and in a perfect location near by tons to walk to. It was clean and comfortable. Thomas and Serge were such a pleasure to work with. Thank you so much! The only issue was a bit of noise at night, but not a big deal for us! We would definitely stay here again! 21 July 2016 - 19:30:29

You cannot ask for a better location.... for the food, fun and proximity to all of Paris than this apartment. Host made a friend available for our arrival for keys and walk through of apartment and departure was easy. The tiny elevator (so we didn't have to carry luggage up 3 flights) was a blessing - My kids were fascinated that they make elevators that small! The noise other reviewers mentioned was non-existent but we are from NYC so maybe we just don't notice it anymore. That said, the apartment comes with a lot of rules about not making noise especially after certain hours and even mentions something about neighbors being quick to call the police -- that seemed a little over the top when basic common sense should apply when staying in an apartment building. Finally, the towels... they are basically sandpaper, please replace them 25 July 2017 - 18:53:00

A nice apt in a great arrondisement. But there are some pros and cons here to consider. Pros: a great location - lots of shops and restaurants around. Paris is easily walkable from here or it's 3 mins to the Metro. The apt is a good size for 2 people. The building has an elevator. It has wifi. A good reception by the host. Cons: the street is very noisy making it difficult to sleep with windows open (there is a karaoke bar right across the street) - there is no air conditioning - the fridge does not have a freezer, so no ice for drinks - the light in the stove hood was burned out and the shower head was broken (this should be fixed as I mentioned it on the day of checkout) - there was only half a roll of toilet paper in the apt. upon arrival. ( just some details that should be paid attention to ) 26 September 2016 - 11:26:13

Serge's apartment is charming and comfortable. My wife, daughter and I spent Christmas in Paris, and this apartment was a fabulous home base. The neighborhood is vibrant with loads of cafes and shops allowing us to have a relaxed and convenient holiday. Serge was a pleasure to work with and I would heartily recommend this home. 11 January 2018 - 15:24:00
