About listing

The flat is located in the Sixth District of Paris in an 17th century building on the Seine which has been completely restored. The building was originally a private family mansion. Even today it is maintained in much the same manner by my family and the only two other couples who share the building. This arrangement makes the building very quiet, secure and private. allowing antiques and engraving to line the circular stairway. My flat is located on the third floor. There are approximately 70 steps with three landings spiraling up from the court yard with antiques and engraving lining the circular stairwell. There is no elevator. There are 90 square meters of living space featuring two bedrooms, a comfortable bathroom, a large living and dining area and a modern, fully equipped kitchen. All the windows in the flat have a view of St. Chapelle, but just off the living room is a writing desk with a view of the Palais de Justice and St. Chapelle looking out across the Seine. The flat is sunny and bright with modern and antique furnishing throughout including the original hand made brick floor, original oak ceiling beams and restored linen covered walls. It has been newly decorated throughout with 18th and 19th century prints and modern double paned windows in a style to mimic the original windows and which eliminate the occasional street noise. The master bedroom has a comfortable 160 cm bed (larger than a queen-size bed), the room is warm and welcoming and except for the wall mounted TV is furnished with period pieces and paintings, all accented by soft lighting. The 2nd bedroom, has a queen size bed which converts into 2 twin beds and looks down into the courtyard and out over the river. The bathroom has a teak and glass shower, warm wooden floor, wall mounted toilet and stone sink for easy cleaning and in additional to the mirror above the sink, a full length mirror. The bathroom walls are covered with elegant and striking hand made tiles from the south of France. The building is located on a very quiet, safe little street which pours a few feet away offering views in one direction of the Louvre and the other Notre Dame. It is a pleasant walk to many famous destinations such as Notre Dame, The Louvre, Centre Pompidou, Quartier Latin, Saint Sulpice Church, Jardin du Luxembourg, Musée d’Orsay, Invalides, Concorde, Madeleine, Grand Palais, Champs Elysées - and of course the walking paths along the Seine River going toward Jardin de Plants and the Natural History Museum and Zoo. It is in very close proximity to two main subway stations: Saint Michel and Odeon which also provide direct access by rail to Versailles , Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports. Numerous bus lines can be found nearly to take you conveniently all over Paris. You can call all over France and certain other countries for free (except for cell phones [any number starting with 06 in France] and numbers starting with 08 for which there is a charge) from the telephone in the apartment, and there is a WIFI connection if you are traveling with your computer I want to share my apartment with people who will love and cherish it as much as I do. I live with my family here in this apartment during the year and I rent it during some vacations. So you will really feel at home! For a confirmed reservation, I require the payment of 50% of the rental fee by wire transfer. I also need the day of arrival 500 Euros as deposit refundable the day of departure. This is a non smoking apartment and no pets are allowed. Keywords: Apartment

Everything on the listing is correct, but still doesn't convey the cozy perfection of this apartment. From the moment you push open the big green door and step into the courtyard, you will be charmed, and won't even mind the stair climb up to your home away from home. Included are very comfortable beds, wonderful linens, plenty of towels, great shower pressure - and a kitchen that is better equipped than mine at home. The layout is wonderful - with a plus that is hard to find elsewhere in Paris, and that is the bathroom is off the hallway, not through a bedroom. The location is ideal for exploring the city in every direction (just a couple blocks from St Michel and Odeon metro stops), and for staying in the neighborhood for food, drinks, people watching. Delphine is very accommodating with arrival and departure times, and for helpful suggestions. She and her family live in the building but you would never know it for how quiet everything was - no loud footsteps or voices or plumbing noises at all. My family of 4 stayed 10 days and kept wondering if we would choose a different arrondissement next visit, but concluded we would only stay at Rue Seguier - it's a gem. 11 May 2011 - 14:24:01

My 22 daughter and I spent five days at Delphine's apartment earlier this May. Delphine was waiting for us when we arrived and gave us a very friendly welcome. In a matter of a few minutes she had made us 2 dinner reservations at restaurants that she recommended. Both were fabulous. The apartment is cosy, extremely clean with a renovated bathroom. When the windows are closed it is so quiet. The apartment is located between Saint Michel ( 3 minute walk to the Metro) and Saint Germain des Pres. Great shopping and dining in Saint Germain des Pres We were able to walk to dinner every night with fabulous restaurants all around. We had lunch on 2 days at outdoor cafes on Ave. Saint Germain. I would definitely stay in Delphine's apartment again. Thank you so much Delphine. Mary and Andrea, Saint Johns, FL USA 19 May 2011 - 15:31:33
  3. We wish simply to reiterate what all the excellent reviews before us have already said: this is an absolutely lovely flat that will make your stay in Paris a very special one indeed. It is utterly charming, brilliantly located, and appointed meticulously with the greatest of taste and loving care. Thank you, Delphine, for your gracious hospitality, and for extending such kindness when we encountered some real difficulties during our trip. We will never forget it, and recommend the flat 100%! 10 September 2011 - 20:07:58

This is a lovely apartment in the best location imaginable. You might not think so walking up to it if you haven't been to Paris. The entrance and street are quite unassuming. But once you get inside (and, yes, have climbed all the steps) you'll find it charming and excellently laid out. Even better, once you get to know the area you'll realize how perfect the location is: one or two blocks from the most central subway stops and and the best patisseries and bistros and open air markets and chocolatiers and creperies. You'll need no taxis nor cars and can walk to along the beautiful Seine to almost everyplace you'd want to visit. We did. The Lourve, The Musee d'Orsay. The Halles. Notre Dame. We even walked back from the Eiffel Tower. And you'll appreciate returning to the unassuming entrance on the quiet little street. And Delphine was so easy and trusting and accommodating about deposits, it almost makes an American step back and pause. So what's with the 1%? Well, first, consider the source. I am the type of person who will switch a hotel room if it's near the elevator or ice machine or will switch restaurant tables if near the bussing station or restroom. I found the apartment extremely quiet for 99% of our stay. But the last two days the owners, who live in the apartment above, returned from a holiday and we could hear their footsteps and some conversations. For the most part this did not bother the rest of my family but I am more sensitive to that kind of thing and it might have detracted from my stay there had they been in residence the entire six days. Not sure it would have concerned the others. Plus -- we'd been spoiled by having the place to ourselves for five days. If this sort of thing doesn't concern you then by all means you'll love this place. By the way, we actually found the steps a great way to relieve our guilt for all the dining out we did and for eating all the wonderful croissants and treats that beckon everywhere. Enjoy! 02 February 2012 - 17:34:26

We stayed in the apartment with our 2 children in April and would happily stay there on every return visit. Nice well-furnished apartment, good bathroom and kitchen, and simply the best location in Paris -- a quiet street with easy access to bakeries, restaurants, Notre Dame, and more. Delphine was a helpful and responsive host. 03 May 2012 - 00:17:50

My husband & I recently spent a month in the St Chapelle apartment. The apartment is perfectly located just off the Seine River in the Latin Quarter. It is a very safe neighborhood. There are four locked doors one has to pass for entry to the apartment making you feel completely secure. Regarding the stairs, the steps are very shallow (4 inches at most) making them very easy to climb. We actually viewed them as an asset, offsetting our extra caloric intake. The living room & dining room combination was ample and comfortable. Both bedrooms are spacious with large windows. The beds were comfortable and it was quiet at night. Lots of storage space in the master bedroom; however, an armoire in the guest bedroom would be a plus. The kitchen is fully equipped and has everything you could possibly need. The washer/dryer is in the kitchen and also a window that provides good lighting and ventilation. The bathroom is modern & spacious, with a fabulous shower, mirrors, good lighting, and plenty of towel racks. The owner, who also lives in the building, was delightful, easy to work with, helpful, and very kind. We would highly recommend the apartment and will definitely stay there again. 13 November 2012 - 03:45:10

We absolutely loved our stay on Rue Seguier! Our "flat" was so Parisian and unlike anything we could have encountered in the US. The 300 year old courtyard was originally for horses, and the big door to the street was designed to admit carriages! You don't see that in Minnesota! There was everything we could need: a gorgeous bathroom, fully outfitted kitchen, period furniture that complemented the cloth wall coverings and art, floor tiles and amazing views. Since I was traveling with my sister, my son and his girlfriend, I appreciated the privacy of the separation of the bedrooms. Having reliable wifi and international phone service was terrific and much better than hotels. The location couldn't be better! We love to walk everywhere. We were between the Latin Quarter (St Michel) and St Germain des Pres. If you could tear yourself away from staring at the river when you exit the flat, we could explore the neighborhood. We would take the short walk up Rue Seguier away from the Seine and a left turn would take us to the excitement of the students, music, shops, international food, jazz clubs, and late night bars. A right turn would take us to a residential area of St Germain des Pres: incredible restaurants, bistros, fruit stands, flower stands, the best bakery in the world, grocer, and anything you could need. We also walked to most of our sights: Arc de Triomphe through Tuilerie Garden, Musee d'Orsay, Louvre, Eiffel Tower, of course across the river to Notre Dame and Sainte--Chappelle We didn't worry about the stairs, it was all about the experience of going back in time and living in the moment. Thanks so much to the delightful owners, Delphine and Olivier. 17 March 2013 - 01:02:16

I cannot recommend this spot more highly. I almost want to keep it a secret! We enjoyed our stay so very much. Perfect location in Paris- main on main- walking distance to everything, and yet also tucked away and quiet once inside. A peek at Saint-Chapelle, all the essentials for a restful stay as well as loads of storage space to tuck away all your luggage and treasures. We did not find the stairs to be an issue, and we were carrying small children and strollers. It felt like the quintessential Parisian spot, and we won't look anywhere else for our next Paris adventure. 16 March 2014 - 00:07:48

We stayed for 8 nights and loved the apartment. Property is as described by owner - all information on website matches what is available in the apartment. It is very comfortable. A few minutes walk to Norte dame cathedral. St michel metro is about 5 minutes walk. Supermarket and restaurants, etc also around 5 minutes walk. We found the apartment had everything we needed and was a quiet place to retreat to after a hectic day in Paris. Check in was smooth. We advised our arrival time and assistant was there to meet us. Owner very helpful. The stairs help you burn off all the extra calories. Around a 20 minute walk is the fabulous Gerard mulot patisserie on 76 rue de seine. We sampled sweat treats from there plus bought a delicious quiche to have for dinner in the apartment. 15 May 2014 - 06:27:56

My husband and I and my husbands son and his wife very much enjoyed this apartment. In Paris, location is paramount and this location could not have been more perfect; it was ideal for walking to all my favorite sites. We also enjoyed the historic feel of the building and the decoration in the apartment. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was great. When we arrived we were met at the apartment by someone who welcomed us in English and did a very good job explaining how things in the apartment worked. There is also a manual with information on how things work in the apartment and close-by shops. This apartment is an excellent value for the money, especially for this superb location. The one thing that would have improved the experience even further is if someone had checked in with us one or two days into our 6 night stay to see if we had any questions. There is a lot of information to take in when first arriving, especially with jet lag. When we discovered that several light bulbs were burned out making the master bedroom dim and the microwave had problems, I emailed the owner twice but did not hear back. In addition, we had problems using the clothes washer. So the one suggestion I would have is to ask before you arrive the best way to handle questions that arise during your stay. We would absolutely rent this lovely apartment again and I recommend it strongly. 06 October 2014 - 00:51:34
  11. Parisian Family Holiday
We rented this apartment over Christmas and New Year period 2014/5 for a wonderful family holiday in Paris. The position is fabulously close to the Seine and within 5 minutes walk of Metro, a brilliant St Germain food market and dining/shopping area and top sites like Pont Neuf and Notre Dame. Importantly the apartment is safe and secure and whisper quiet at all times. The building itself is an historic mansion (seventeenth century) with courtyard and the apartment fully equipped, homely, clean and very comfortable. Delphine, the host, is friendly, warm and helpful. We have no hesitation in recommending this apartment, remembering that due to the building's age there is no lift - so important that all occupants are comfortable using the stairs (up 3 stories). It was our privilege to stay here and we leave with beautiful memories. Merci 03 January 2015 - 19:46:40

Location, location, location. We spent a phenomenal week at Delphine's flat in the 6th. It's a perfectly situated in a great neighborhood on a safe street. It's a mere feet from the Seine and a short stroll to St Gemain des Pres, the Latin Quartier, the Louvre, Saint Chapelle, Luxembourg Gardens etc. Subways and RER B line are all close by to reach farther parts of the city or airport. We stayed with our teenage daughters and the flat is a perfect size with very comfortable beds with a nice size living room/dining room. The kitchen is well appointed for all your needs and a nice bathroom. The flat is highly recommended , we had a terrific visit! Thank you Delphine! 02 August 2015 - 18:27:13

My husband, 2 teenagers, and myself had a fabulous 5 nights in Paris this past July. But, what made it even better was staying in Delphine's flat. The location couldn't have been better, we were within walking distance to literally everything and if we had to take the trains that was easily accessible too. Delphine, was very accommodating by letting us have our Paris Museum Passes mailed early to the flat, which allowed us to start seeing things without waiting in a line. She also, upon request, recommended a few of her favorite restaurants to dine at, which we dined at one of them for our last night and it was by far our best meal out of many during our week. The only challenge was finding a grocery that was nearby, but once we found it, we were fine. Also, the apartment was out of laundry detergent and if the grocery store owner did not know a little English, we would have bought the wrong type and could have messed up the laundry machine. We chalked these small things up to "living" in a foreign city and learning. The stairs were not a problem, although we were happy we only had to take our bags up them once. It became part of our "amount of stairs" we would climb each day with everything we did. Delphine, checked in via email during our stay, which was so nice. We would definitely stay here again, I would highly recommend Delphine and her apartment for an extended stay in Paris. 19 September 2015 - 20:40:17

We are two couples who shared Delphine's lovely apartment for 2 weeks in September. I knew from reading all the reviews that it was going to be very special, but I couldn't have imagined just how much the right place can influence your experience of this amazing city. As others have described the location is perfect for convenience, but enjoying the pleasures of such a beautiful and comfortable apartment made the difference between visiting Paris as tourists or feeling as though we really belonged. I can't say enough about Delphine's hospitality as a hostess. She was responsive throughout the booking process and our check in was flawless. She provided us extra keys on request, and had stocked the apartment with everything we needed, including detailed operating instructions for everything and a full library of guide books. We slept like babies in the comfortable beds and quiet of our tiny street. The building and the apartment itself are rich with history, both in terms of architecture and decor. And all the modern conveniences are there, including a spacious bathroom with great water pressure, high end washer/dryer and dishwasher, good lighting and plenty of comfortable places for 4 people to relax at the end of the day. If we ever have the privilege of enjoying another holiday in Paris we will definitely return to this wonderful apartment. 22 September 2015 - 14:36:36

The location just couldn't be better. We walked to all the sites during our 5 day stay. Bordered by the Seine and the St. Germaine neighborhood, the apartment is close to tourist sites and a neighborhood filled with cafes and little shops. The stairs up to the fourth floor were not a problem. The apartment is well outfitted with a washer/dryer, a full kitchen, two very comfortable and roomy bedrooms and a recently renovated bathroom. It worked very well for two couples. 08 October 2015 - 17:24:27

Our family (2 adults and 2 pre-teens) stayed in this lovely apartment over spring break. It allowed our children to experience what it would be like to live in Paris as opposed to staying in a tourist hotel. There are many shops and restaurants nearby and it was convenient to all the attractions. You are less than a block to the Seine and can see Notre Dame from the apartment windows. There is a metro stop about 2 blocks away. The only warning I would give potential visitors is that this is the top apartment in the building and it is a hefty climb up the stairs. This would definitely not be suitable for anyone with walking or climbing restrictions. Delphine was lovely to work with and was very helpful. Highly recommend. 16 November 2015 - 23:50:59

My wife and I (mid 40s) and our two kids (8 and 12) stayed here for a week in early Feb 2016. We arrived late morning and because no one had checked out that day, Delphine allowed us to check in. We used a guy that she recommended to take us from CDG to the apartment (was 55 Euro each way) and then back to CDG at the end of the trip. He was on time and a safe driver. We were met by someone at the apartment since Delphine was away that day and he took us through the apartment, gave us the keys and showed us how things worked. We settled in in no time. As has been said, there are 70 steps and these can be a little of a chore after a day of walking around Paris but we were ok with them, but if you have mobility issues then this probably isn't the place for you. Like others have said, we felt like it was fitting exercise after all of the good food we had (I even lost 3 lbs over the course of the trip). The beds were comfortable and the apartment had everything we needed; dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge etc. The location of the apartment was ideal as we were right in the middle of everything and could access other places easily from the St. Michel metro. We even went to Versailles from the RER C station which is at the St. Michel station as well. Delphine was very easy to deal with, spoke great English if that is a necessity for you, and was available when we had questions. When we come back ot Paris, we would definitely think about staying here again. 14 February 2016 - 19:57:24

As many reviews indicate, the place is charming, a good value, and the location can't be beat! The place was extremely clean, with large living room table and two couches so plenty of space for a family of 4 to unwind. It was perfect walking distance to many popular sights, and on the best metro/RER line for things further afield such as Versailles and the Eiffel Tower. The small kitchen had everything needed for a short stay with dishes/silverware and bonus dishwasher and laundry. The kids appreciated the 2nd bedroom could be made into two twin beds, and the 160cm bed in the master was really comfortable. While we never met the owner, they were quick to respond to emails and made arrangements for airport transport making the process painless. Also, the stairs weren't that bad if you had manageable luggage. So why not 5 stars? Basically noise. We were expecting minimal street noise since the apartment is set back from the main road and several floors up. The problem is the front (but not back) windows are single-glaze so we heard sirens, people yelling, and motorcycles during the evening/night. I'll just say we were glad it wasn't summer with windows open (remember no AC here). Also, the apartment next door has a shared entryway and a dog that would occasionally go nuts scratching at the front door then run back and forth through the upstairs howling. We're not sure why (to go out? someone came home?) but it was always startling. Finally, I have some suggestions for improvement. It would be nice to have a guide book, metro/city maps, museum information, etc. for first-time visitors. Local knowledge is usually a benefit of using a rental but the meager book provided didn't even name recommended restaurants to find them. While the bathroom and bed linens were great, the towels were thin and had threads unraveling. Also, it would have been nice if the house was stocked a bit more with essentials. We only had 1/2 roll of paper towels, one small trash bag, and only two small rolls of toilet paper for 4 people for a week. Both soap dispensers in the bathroom/kitchen were empty, and no shampoos/soaps provided. Plus, After a long journey, it would be appreciated to have water/drinks or milk/coffee available (free or for purchase) in the fridge on arrival. Little things like this would go a long way towards the experience. All in all it was a charming place with well-deserved positive reviews. With a few improvements, it would be amazing. 19 February 2017 - 18:50:00

We have stayed at many apartments in Paris and this is our favorite. We stayed there 3 weeks. First week with my mother who is 80 years old and the apartment was well suited for her. The neighborhood is fantastic and the apartment is elegant, quiet (it faces a pretty courtyard) and we felt we were in Paris even inside. It is located in the center of the 6th, you are a stone's throw from the Louvre, Blvd. St Germain,Notre Dame, etc. We stayed with our daughter and her friend, both 15, and felt completely safe with their being out and about. Near outdoor markets, shops and transportation, there is no better location in Paris (I lived in Paris for two years). The rooms are light and airy, the decoration is soothing, and the large TV and internet worked perfectly. The kitchen is very well equipped and we had some very good meals when we didn't want to eat out. The outdoor market ,supermarket, butcher, boulangerie cheese and wine store store nearby made our stay so pleasant and really Parisian. The reception upon arrival was excellent. We can't say enough good things about this rental and hope to be able to stay there again soon 20 April 2017 - 14:04:00

We so enjoyed our stay at Delphine's place. The location is amazing. It's close to so many wonderful neighborhoods in Paris. The home is warm and cozy and very comfortable (especially in the cold fall/winter in Paris). The stairs have not been an issue and actually provide great daily exercise as does all of the walking around the city. And, importantly for us, we've found Delphine to be a true pleasure to work with. She's responsive, honest, helpful and made us feel very welcome! We would happily return. 07 December 2017 - 19:39:00
